Super > Zero Mission > Fusion > Dread > Samus Returns
Samus Returns is so dull. Dread improve the movement and combat. It gets extra points for actually being a sequel to Fusion which I didn't think we'd ever get. It's dull though. Locations are boring, bosses are copy paste, and it's so linear.
I wish they would remake Other M to change the story to not be an embarrassment and a massive character assassination on Samus. I wouldnt even give a shit if the gameplay was basically the same.
I know but I just cant handle them making Samus a moron. I triggered me when I played it. Other M and MGSV were the only games I ever played where I was pissed off at how bad they were.
There used to be a time when you could say "Metroid Fusion is the worst Metroid game and it's not even a bad game". I appreciate you weirdos who like Fusion the best after Other M and Fed Force came into our lives.
Enjoying it is fine, considering it better than any 2D Metroid is moronic.

This
Blame it on it releasing after the series was iced for eight years but remained in the public consciousness because of Smash Bros., and more people had a GBA than a GameCube for Prime.
Sadly I do blame it on this, the series is finally fixed again, I don't want these Fusion guys ruining the series again.
The Fusion devs were a bunch of noobs. Fusion was the first Metroid game they were developing. Most of the OG R&D1 split off after Super Metroid and Intelligent Systems stop collaborating with them on Metroid games. The Fusion team thought Super Metroid was too difficult.

is there any way to recapture the sequence breaking aspect of super? It's really what puts it above the others for me but most of it is based around wall jumping which is a semi hidden mechanic you might be forced to learn, but only later into the game. Now any metroid fan knows about wall jumping and would attempt it even if the game never explicitly told you about it, so what do you replace it with?
In Dread you can sequence break with or without glitches. With glitches, you can kinda jump and angle Samus' gun in a wall to shoot through a wall and destroy blocks you're not supposed to be able to hit from where you are. Without glitches, after you slide through a narrow passage on the ground that spits you out into open air on the other side, you have an incredibly small window to do a full jump out of the slide and then wall jump up into unintended areas. You can also get enough energy capsules and perfect movement to get through the icy area in Dread without any suit upgrades.
There are a good deal of sequence breaks in Dread. The intentional ones let you get like 3 or 4 upgrades in any order and skip 2 upgrades outright if I remember correctly. The unintended stuff can skip entire boss fights and chunks of the game, get you more power-up order variety, and weren't patched out. There was just one thing that was patched out because it can effectively break the game outright by disengaging your hitbox or something, but otherwise, you've got space to experiment.
Fusion for a more linear and 20 year old feeling Dread. Zero Mission for the closest thing we'll ever get to another Super. AM2R or Samus Returns once you've exhausted your other 2D options. Prime is basically the Ocarina of Time to Super Metroid's A Link to the Past if you want to jump into 3D Metroid
The first one. If you have a switch, you can play it, though I recommend switching your location settings to Japan in order to download the famicom version if you don't like the ability to save anywhere via the emulator saving system. Better standard save system than the NES version.
I’m very excited for Dread’s inevitable sequel. Development should be a pretty quick and smooth, and they will probably have a better budget/more lenient dev time to improve boss variety and such
>Blocky worlds
Not talking about that.
Talking about how the game literally tells you to hunt for powerups and abilities to explore among other things. I haven't played in a while but there were a few other specifics. It just seems like they copy/pasted previous Metroid games as fans of the series and are describing/showing the world through the lens of a player, not devs.
it's literally one block of text telling you what to do in the game. >It just seems like they copy/pasted previous Metroid games as fans of the series and are describing/showing the world through the lens of a player, not devs.
is that supposed to be a bad thing?
>it's literally one block of text telling you what to do in the game.
Every time you get a mission briefing it's like that. >is that supposed to be a bad thing?
The game makes you aware you're playing a video game. Like I said the devs missed the point because they made the game as fans of the game.
>Every time you get a mission briefing it's like that.
I don't remember the conversations because I always skip through them - are they really any different from Fusion aside from the "Raven Beak is great" bits? >The game makes you aware you're playing a video game.
Oh no!
>Super > Dread=ZM > SR=Fusion
It’s hard to beat Super, only normie shitters cry about the floaty controls, those “floaty controls” are amazingly responsive. Dread is almost as good but for different reasons, the buttery smooth movement, the spectacle of the boss fights and the aggressive swagger of Samus are kino. The rest are all really close together, I love all of them tbh tbh famalam
ZM > Super > 2 > Fusion > NES original >SR > Dread.
FPBP. Frick the nu-metroid games pretending they're like the old games.
Planets>AM2R>Super>Fusion>Dread
Dread > Super > Fusion > Zero Mission > Samus Returns
The series has basically only gotten better with every game. Excited to see Prime 4 whenever that happens.
>Dread > Super
haha yeah bro what's an opinio
never heard of that
I wanted to love Dread so fricking bad, but it's one of the most forgettable games in the series.
Metroid 2 > Metroid > Super Metroid > Fusion = Dread
Never played the remakes
Prime
That's the only one worth playing
Zero Mission > Dread > Super > Fusion > Samus Returns
Super > Zero Mission = Dread >> Fusion > Samus Returns
That's the only valid ranking, period.
Super > any other adventure platformer in existence
There's a reason it's still one of the most speed ran games
>Dread > Super
Zero > Fusion > Dread > Returns
Never played Metroid, M2 or Super
Dread > Super > Metroid > ROS > Fusion
Super > Zero Mission > Fusion > Dread > Samus Returns
Samus Returns is so dull. Dread improve the movement and combat. It gets extra points for actually being a sequel to Fusion which I didn't think we'd ever get. It's dull though. Locations are boring, bosses are copy paste, and it's so linear.
Please ignore Dread, I sadly haven’t played it yet so I just put it where I hope it will be
Super>Dread>Fusion>SR>ZM>2>1
I find it very difficult to decide between ZM, Dread and Fusion.
Super is easily best and didn't play SR.
AM2R > ZM > Super > Dread > Fusion > Returns
Fusion isn't a Metroid game.
What did you like so much about Prime 3?
It's always been my least favorite of the trilogy.
I wish they would remake Other M to change the story to not be an embarrassment and a massive character assassination on Samus. I wouldnt even give a shit if the gameplay was basically the same.
I wouldn't give a shit about the story if the gameplay were good, but it isn't. Any remake should address that first.
I know but I just cant handle them making Samus a moron. I triggered me when I played it. Other M and MGSV were the only games I ever played where I was pissed off at how bad they were.
Unironically
Dread>Fusion>Zero Mission>Super>Samus Returns
I made this after a few months of cooling down after Dread's honeymoon phase and it cannot be debated. This is the objective Metroid tier list.
Super>ZM>Dread>Fusion=SR
Jesus Christ, you can tell who's first Metroid games were Fusion, it really shows in this thread.
People who get triggered by the fact that others enjoy Fusion are legitimately despicable.

These "Fusion guys" were the same ones that made Super though.

Super >>> ZM >>>>>>> Dread > SR >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> fusion
Super > ZM > Fusion > Dread >> SR
everything greater than SR is 9/10 btw
I have only played super(snes) and dread (yuzu).
What do i try next?
Fusion for a more linear and 20 year old feeling Dread. Zero Mission for the closest thing we'll ever get to another Super. AM2R or Samus Returns once you've exhausted your other 2D options. Super/AM2R > Dread > Fusion > Zero Mission > 2 > Metroid >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Samus Returns
>playing dread in handheld mode
>it runs like absolute shit
Way to ruin the game
Maybe you shouldn't play it on steam deck
i don't know how they made dread more railroady than fusion but they managed
Brainlet who only did one playthrough and didn't actually try to sequence break detected
I don't know how they made dread more open than super but they managed
I don't know how they made Samus Returns more shit than Metroiid 2 but they managed
I don't know how they made Ganker worse than reddit, but they managed
Dread and Prime 2 are the best games and it's not even close.
Super > ZM > Dread > 2 > Fusion
I’m very excited for Dread’s inevitable sequel. Development should be a pretty quick and smooth, and they will probably have a better budget/more lenient dev time to improve boss variety and such
The real question is will the game release in 2024 or 2025?
I’d be inclined to say 2024, but with a Switch2 likely to drop before it releases, that could shake up development/release schedules
Super>ZM>Fusion>Dread>SR
Dont mistake a lower rating as being shit.theyre all good.
I haven't played ZM in a long time, so I find hard to rate it.
Super > Dread > Fusion > Returns
Dread feels too video gamey.
>Dread feels too video gamey
Explain. Do the blocky worlds of the 8/16-bit titles not also feel video gamey if not moreso?
It feels like it was meant to played, not experienced.
gaygiest sentence I've read today
anon what the frick are you talking about
>Blocky worlds
Not talking about that.

thanks for the (You)s
>it’s okay, I only act like a moron for attention
the white race is lost
nah I just did it for laughs
AM2R was really cool
It was but tendies seethe at the mere mention of its existence
Dread>Zero Mission=Super>Fusion>Samus Returns
