its a fun game though anon, yes every character is a brown queer but you don't really encounter any of that stuff if you don't do the sidequests (which are mediocre anyways).
See I want to laugh at you for overreacting like eww I saw a gay character or whatever but I played that game and holy shit is it nuts. You know what it feels like, it feels like Timespinner is a game from another dimension and a copy of dialog mod written by the same types of people who make Harry Potter gay slash fics fell through a wormhole to our world. You know the type of fanfic where every character is fricking and they can not shut up about it in every scene but somehow it has 300,000 words and 50 chapters.
Like somewhere there is a stunning Squaresoft style pixel art metroidvania with a normal plot and we got the one where everyone is gay, trans, poly and will not shut up about it. They hide that shit like 2 or 3 hours into the game too. As a barometer for how bad it is, I was fine with the new She-ra cartoon.
Yeah honestly. Don't give a frick about LGBT shit really but it felt like the reward for doing side quests was rewarded with the next mini-chapter in each character's fanfic. Where every fanfic is a queer character doing increasingly queeish things to up the ante. Also the combat is pretty overrated imo.
Bunny Must Die: Chelsea & the 7 Devils is sort of Rabi-Ribi before there was Rabi-Ribi, complete with bullet hell bosses. There's a time-freezing mechanic, and your weapons behave differently while in it; for example, you can Dio Brando a bunch of throwing knives and then resume time so they all fly at whatever you're aiming at. Jumping felt a little weird, but otherwise, it's solid.
>Even Zelda 2
Yes I hate that one in particular, it's the worst one of that gameplay style I've tried playing >or Battle of Olympus?
I never played it but looking at the screenshots it looks awful >Do you also dislike Metroid?
The 2D ones yeah. I try not to hate on Metroid because I love the Prime games but I couldn't get into any of the 2D ones despite giving them multiple chances
Not really. I've played Dread, Ori, Luna Nights, Astalon, Rabi-Ribi, and ESA, and Cave Story from this list and the only two where I actually appreciated the metroidvania structure were ESA and Cave Story. The other times, I ended up wishing I was playing a straight stage-based action platformer.
Something like the hub world in Dustforce is enough to give me my exploration fix
For me? The above-average 3-digit-IQ-having video game enjoyer? Of course, it's Salt and Sanctuary! The best metroidvania with the deepest lore. Go read The Drowned Tome.
Can Palworld be considered a Metroidvania
is legacy of kain soul reaver a metroidvania
it seems so? ive only gotten through the first 2 major bosses tho so maybe the later game isn't what i think its gonna be
i like momodora soul
Soulslikes and Metroidvanias are my favorite genres.
>privilege spinner
Get that woke shit off there.

Bunny Must Die: Chelsea and the 7 Devils is better than most of the games on that chart.
never heard of those, what are they like?

>Ori
>Rabi Ribi
>Ender Lillies
>Axiom verge
Which one should I play next?
depends what kind of games you've liked thus far
Rabi-Ribi is fricking awesome but it's more about the boss fights than about exploration (though there's plenty of that too)
>Backtracking: the genre
yaaawn
No not really
I never enjoyed the combat in sidescrolling 2D games, metroidvania or otherwise
Even Zelda 2 or Battle of Olympus?
Do you also dislike Metroid?

I guess the genre is not really for you then
Yeah, I just beat Blasphemous II, had a great time
Anyone played the new PoP, I've heard it's pretty decent

I wanted to like it but the jank gameplay turned me off
>Remember the days when metroidvania was considered a full genre even though it consisted entirely of Metroid and SOTN
Weird seeing it evolve 20 years later.
