as a guy who loves animstion and whose gf is in that world, just want to give you some free advises:
1-You need to learn how to draw, in this case, pokemon, but try to improve your drawing in general
2-Learn the basics and principles, try to find the animation guide in pdf, it's not difficult and has a lot of good examples
3-Start with something easy and get past that (i played a lot with flipnote studio back in the day and i did some gifs and vid animation with adobe photoshop, premiere, or even paint and movie maker), the important part is the imagination and the practice, so good luck and don't be afraid of trying
>invest in a GOOD drawing tablet, it will make your life so much easier, don't buy a small one, because those things have a higher learning curve to master. If possible, get one with a display. >learn the fundamentals of animation, if you don't want to buy courses and books, Alan Becker has a great video essay on the 12 principals of animation, you are gonna need to have all of these in mind before starting, if you can afford external resources, buy the animator's survival kit and the illusion of life. >start small, don't go for big projects yet, slowly build repertoire and eventually you will get better.
