Whether or not this is fake is irrelevant to me, what i want to know if this is really running on Saturn hardware.

        no. of course not

You don't prove a negative. The proof is on whoever has it running on the Saturn and can show it's not bullshit.

He stated that it is not running on Saturn hardware as a fact, which implies he knows that it's running on something else. That's his claim to prove.

            Anonymous

            Because it's obviously fake
            >"real hardware" lol lmao roflmao
            >signature psx texture wobble
            >ACTUAL transparency, not dithering

              Anonymous

Saturn can TECHNICALLY do legit transparency in some specific scenarios but i'm too busy right now to check if those match with the transparency in the so called "prototype".

              Anonymous

Ackshually the Saturn also has texture wobble
It's just that nobody ever played a Saturn game to know that it does

He didn't really say that in the video description, its more with the Patreon post that its clarified.

        >It's to understand how the console works that I started this Prototype, sorry, it's not a leak from a guy who left Konami in a Cardboard Box with Hideo Kojima
        >At first my Protoype was based on the Jo Engine (made by Johannes Fetz) and I moved after on the Z-Treme Engine (made by Maxime "XL2"). Big respect for you guys! You are Saturn experts and crazy geniuses!
        >Ofc there are bugs, no enemies and multiple optimizations could still be made but I'm quite happy with the result and I think I was able to achieve my goal to demonstrate that Metal Gear Solid could very well have been released on Sega's 32 bit and that the Saturn could have shown us much MUCH more.

Oh, sure, while he isn't lying and does say it's his own project, he definitely seems to be using terms like "prototype" and the TGS story in the description to grab attention.

(and not how his other development projects say the more direct "WIP" designation in the title as opposed to "prototype")

Wow, sounds like an actual beta and not just a fan homebrew. Never heard about a Saturn port, though. Looks neat in the video.

morons, he says it was a rumor. there’s no proof this ever existed. making something yourself is not confirming the rumor. there’s no proof he even made it, the video is suspect

He definitely made the video, what are you saying there is no video? Huh, what is this mh370 killing time vfx from 96 now? Jk, I'm just funkin around

  7. 8 months ago

That's cool that he was able to do this, but beyond a novelty I don't find these sorts of ports to be too exciting. Like is anybody actually going to play a homebrew MGS Saturn port? If it had been an actual scrapped prototype of such a port, then it would have some historical significance (and perhaps some other tweaks and additions/subtractions made by the developers themselves, which could be neat to see), but as it is, yeah, just not my thing.
Hopefully the guy can use his skills to make some original homebrew games.

I can't be assed to delve into the details of this redditardation, but doing a proof of concept is common practice. Nearly universally, not just with games or Saturn games.
The question you should be asking is why does it trigger you so much that you're losing your shit over it.

He didn't call it a proof of concept. He literally says in the description that he's "proving" things + use a video title that was ambiguous on purpose to mislead people and clickbait

          >He didn't call it "proof" he called it "proving"
Oh. Well that's totally different and makes you sound totally sane and not moronic underage esl.

I don't think a single person ever genuinely debated whether or not MGS could've been ported to the Saturn.

To be fair, MSG itself didnt really push graphical boundaries with its topdown gameplay.
You could even get it running in some form on the 3DO (assuming the characters were converted to sprites ala road rash)
