Why? What mix of animation and input response did they got so right?
Wildlands, Hitman, GTA, Red Dead, Last of Us, Fortnite, PUBG. No game is as pleasant to control as MGSV despite it being such a incomplete game.

>No game is as pleasant to control as MGSV despite it being such a incomplete game
Because MGSV isn't really as incomplete as you've been lead to believe
I could make a guard eat rotten food and go poop in MGS3, I cant in 5.
I could do surgery, I could remove a tracker in my body so 4 levels down the level would be different.
It is incomplete. I played 3 only for the first time this year (i only became a fan of the franchise from loving 5) but I understood fans' disappointment
You can record shitting noises and disguise yourself as a soldier having diarrhea in 5, you cant in 3.
While i agree 3 overall is a better game, 5 has the most smoothest controls of all time
4 and Peace Walker had none of these and they are considered complete.
GTA and Red Dead have notoriously and deliberately poor handling for the characters,
But anon, a 600ms delay on all inputs is REALISTIC.
it really does feel like i'm playing in slowmotion, it's like every step is a heavy attack in dark souls, so fricking frustrating
I like in RDR2 because Arthur is a big bull dude and aging. The Last of Us 1 is fine as well for aging Joel where things feel heavier.
But it sure as shit isn't fun. GTA 5 feels like dogshit.
I don't understand the mgsv muh controls thing. I get that it's easier for noobies than mgs1-4 which are pretty inaccessible to them but I just don't get it. what's so special about it compared to any other open world game?
It's smooth without feeling weightless. It's responsive, it's agile without being too quick like fortnite. The walking feels cool unlike games like Ghost Recon. It has weight without being a slog like GTA4/5 and TLOU.
It has plenty of ways to do one action (you want to crawl? you can press twice, once for a while or jump to the floor), it allows different playstyles. The very basics of it are pleasant to perform.
If the game had haptics like Death Stranding I cant imagine I'd ever play another game again.
again it just sounds like you guys need to play more games. comparing it to games like gta and tlou is just weird
Name them then, homosexual.
Ok, then what games would you compare it's controls to? What games do you think are either at a similar level, or exceed it?
Compare it to something like current Hitman who feels like a rigid autist instead of a cool assassin
MGS4 controls are superior you tertiary Black person tourist
MGS4 controls are already casualized enough to be playable for a console third person shooter casual.
Here's your (you)
>the controls are so good
>except for all the times you have to climb over a knee high rock
>switch weapons
>use cover
>Use CQC
>interrogate someone
These all work flawlessly? Are you stupid? I've never once had an issue with any of these in my 200+ hours I've put into V.
>200+ hours into MGSV
You're the stupid one, a coprophage to boot.
>Claim shit that's untrue unless you're mentally moronic
>n-no u
Classic
I'm sure how a non-moron could spend over 200 hours in a braindead third person shooter with no level design, moronic deaf and blind AI, barely functional controls and atrocious sound design.
>KSSHHHHH AN ENEMY SNIPER
>KSSHHH AN ENEMY GUNSHIP
>KSSSHHH Black folk TONGUE MY ANUS
Why are you playing a stealth game like a third person shooter? I intentionally go into missions with basically nothing for challenge runs. Sounds like you intentionally made the game unfun for yourself and then blame the game because you couldn't control yourself.
>moronic deaf and blind A
so ai across the entirety of metal gear then
not him but the ai in 1-4 is completely different than 5. 5's ai needs to be pretty braindead in order to function since the map is so big. in 2, guards will use walkie talkies, their patrols are set up to run into eachother and they will notice when someone needs help, they clear buildings in a squad, etc
>in 2, guards will use walkie talkies, their patrols are set up to run into eachother and they will notice when someone needs help, they clear buildings in a squad, etc
This is just fluff akin to the AI in FEAR. Set dressing to masquerade as intelligence. Take a guard out, put him in a locker, patrol comes in, finds nothing, patrol fricks off, and they never return. No alarms are raised about the missing guard ever again.
>he either didn't play or played on very easy
they replace the guard. go play the game
I've put more hours into Metal Gear than you, zoomer. Replacing a guard doesn't change the fact no alert phase is added on top of the fact a fricking guard is missing.
The guard doesn't respond to comms, they ask where he is, they send a report, they go into a phase, they search, then they replace. What kind of moronic point are you trying to make? mgsv guys don't even use walkie talkies unless they see you and then home in on you from the entire map. stop projecting about zoomers and go play the game
>Guard is missing
>Uh just put Jim in his place
>Should we make the guards more alert?
>Nah, it'll be fine, back to stupid mode
It's not difficult to understand, homosexual. Guards are much more on-edge in MGSV if you frick up and alert them.
>blah blah blah
>STAY ALERT
what kind of point are you even trying to make. that once you frick up the room, it should just be 24/7 fricked and you should never be able to sneak around again with all guards on alert forever? go back to v zoomie, I'm sure there's some more grinding and prisoner extraction #30 to do
I'm not interested in talking to an ESL who can't understand a very basic, laid out criticism that guards losing any interest in searching for you after one of their guys went missing is piss poor stealth gameplay. Thief did this, Splinter Cell did this. Go wash yourself in a bucket.
they do search for you, and after they can't find anyone, they say "STAY ALERT" and they do until the phase fizzles out. you're trying to cope and change the subject and not aknowledge this fact
>they say "STAY ALERT" and they do until the phase fizzles out
So they stop being alert, which is the exact point I'm making you fricking dipshit.
>the guards don't stop being alert, they stay alert until they stop being alert!
lmaooooooooooo
again, what you want is a 24/7 "failure" room where you just have to shoot it out every single time you enter, and this somehow works in a vacuum where guards wont chase you outside to create an infinite loop. you're moronic. that's what you want. stop trying to skirt by the issue.
splinter cell blacklist (a stealth game so you gays dont say noooo different genre) has comparatively good movement and feel while coming out (I think) before mgs5
>claims people are shitters into the baby mode of mgsv
>immediately buckles when he's told mgs2/3 are piss easy and allow for repeated failures with little punishment because guards forget you exist

>mgsv is HECKIN HARDER THAN ANY OTHER MGS GAME!
keep coping
>admits he plays with ez mode features
>tries to call anybody else a shitter
holy frick stop lmao
>selecting very easy mode where you get made fun of by the cast on your radio
vs
>standard features that are default that the game designers thought the average player would need
>a literal chicken hat that makes you invisible if you fail
the absolute cope from vgays
>n-no see it doesn't count that these are on by default even if they negatively impact your score for mission rankings!
cope lmao
>not my mission rankings!
wow you guys are pathetic gays. what's your argument then? just dont play on easy on mgs3, and turn the default options off on v. but as it stands, the "easy mode" shit being default on v just shows you the game is more casual oriented
>who cares about mission rankings!
the entire fanbase since they were a thing. or are we going to forget every solid game before v also had end-game rankings based on your performance also negatively impacted by special items?
special items were for fun after you beat the game. they are obviously cheats, like the invis camo in 3. options being on default for every single player is not a cheat, it's the way the game designer thought the average person should play the game the first time around. not for a goof around playthrough, but an actual playthrough
irrelevant, it's easy mode. it's no different from picking very easy at the start of the game. mgsv just recontextualizes difficulty selection into reflex mode and the chicken hat.
reflex mode isn't a difficulty, that's cope. it's on by default, I don't even think the game tells you you're able to turn it off. it's what the game was designed for.
>using reflex mode
>for any reason
Literal skill issue.
goal post moving is crazy. in a game designed around you using slow mo, maybe, just maybe, the game is more designed around casuals than the previous entries
>click throw click throw click throw
>muh cqc as every single enemy slowly stands there and waits for me to do my epic slowmo throws
it's pathetic at this point, how we even got here is crazy to me, all I said was mgsv has braindead ai and all you guys can do is put your foot in your mouth proving your game is for casuals
Missions in MGSV don't have constant checkpoints every couple minutes like older MGS' do, it's clearly an intentional design choice
>it's clearly an intentional design choice
insane cope
Yeah this feature that's in the game and on by default isn't supposed to be used
lol did you actually play past the main menu? You didn't beat da game xD
>he wore the chicken hat
Im literaly sitting here laughing at you thinking you have an opinion
I don't think you even played the game at this point
it's clear you're a loser secondary who only came to knew about mgs because you saw the "snake butt cheeks clapping" meme on youtube. I actually was a fan of the series before GROUND ZEROS came out, unlike 99% of Ganker and nuMGS fans
>Play MGS3
>Tranq every enemy I see with the EZ Gun with its unlimited suppressor and ammo
Wow people call this hard?
>Splinter Cell Blacklist
Similar, but less refined and responsive. You also can't switch to first person when aiming.
It's better for gameplay. Thief and Splinter Cell are level based, and MGSV is mission based, so they can have permanent punishments.
>MGS6
How delusional you all should be? It's more ridiculous that Saints Row Deus Ex from Embracer
Tlou 2 feels better
I would rather play just about any game over that garbage
>there are actual morons here that didn't noticed that majority of death strandings animations were ripped off of MGSV
>ripped off of MGSV
If they did that then Konami would have sued them into oblivion
If It's the same team making the same animation then no shit it's gonna be similar
MGSV thread so I may as well ask here
Why the frick was he grinning the whole time while Volgin was getting ready to strangle him with fire?
He's an edgy guy
I actually quite enjoyed the controls for MGS 4. MGS 5 was good, too. Only issue is it felt like some animations were missing or skipped for some actions with how fast they happen. Ultimately not a big issue, though.
MGS4 had more granular control and didn't have as much busted shit like sprinting. So I'll take that over V's despite V having smoother transitions.
MGSV, despite still being very fun, felt the least like a metal gear game to me. Theres flashes and peaks of it but it still feels fundamentally different to the other 4.
it's literally more metal gear than any metal gear game besides kojimas first game on the nes
are you being pedantic about the fact that I said metal gear and not metal gear solid? If not, what makes you say that?
I think Kojima took the criticism of 4 having too much cutscenes to heart. This changes the whole flow of the game. All the downtime that would normally be spent on cutscenes and codecs is now spent on travel time to the mission and listening to the radio.
MGSV, controller or keyboard?
holy frick. I cannot believe how much of this thread I bothered to read. I was about to make a thread later asking if MGS5 is worth it, because of how much people praise it's gameplay, and would have explained that gameplay (especially stealth gameplay) is heavily contextualized by its level design and that if 5 has none, then how is it's gameplay good...?
but holy frick, I read this thread and MGS5 fans are legit mentally moronic deranged morons. These dudes seriously jack themselves off to their controls being different than TLOU2 or GTA? What kind of person makes an argument bolstering something they like by asserting it's not like something else that's big and popular, and completely different genres, other than somebody who's insecure and can't actually come up with an even close to objective reason why their thing is good that doesn't have to resort to arbitrarily putting something else down. Or the whole chicken hat shit? The slow mo shit? The moronic random insults and adhoms deflecting from ever actually having to address it?
Jesus fricking Christ another moronic Ganker game to add to my list of threads to absolutely immediately dismiss whenever seen because there is never any worthwhile conversation there due to the insanely self awareness void, mental cases that exist in them.
to be fair like two or three of those moronic posts are mine just baiting, I would still give 5 a go even if the fanbase is moronic
oh no enthusiasts care about details of their favorite game how horrible
MGSV is split into 2 regions, each dotted with enemy bases. Some of the bases are really great and fun to infiltrate, and some are kinda middling.
people shit on V's open world because in between those bases its basically just empty. You may occasionally see an enemy truck drive by, but thats it.
Idk what these guys are jerking off the controls over. They were fine.
Its worth it especially if you can get it on sale, and are interested in modding. Infinite Heaven mod allows you to add a lot more replayability and fun to the game
