Spiderman is probably the best open world game I've played but that's also not saying anything and I still never finished it and got bored before the end. The story also sucks and there's barely any actual interesting main missions that aren't just fighting generic mobs.

Considering gravity rush only had gem grinding as a side activity outside of shitty time trials and other bad shit, Insomniac could probably design a better GR game than JS could ever do.

90% of the gravity rush audience only likes the game for the art direction and the fan art, they've never actually touched either game.

You can even see for Spider-Man 2 that the venom powers are mirroring Kat's gravity manipulation ones and they're doing a much better job at it.

Replay Gravity Rush 1 and 2 and try doing the side activities, they're pretty fricking bad from a design standpoint.

Then it started taking forever for 7 to come out. At least with PS3 days we got within a year the Gran Turismo 5 prologue. But with PS4 we waited 4 fricking years for Gran Turismo Sport which was shit. And then had to wait until 9 years after PS4 came out to get Gran Turismo 7 which is a Microtransaction hell hole.

Sony does the same, gaming is just a part of their larger company. So even as Software sales have been low on the PS5, they'll still be okay because its not like the rest of their company is put at huge risk.

The Last of Us was a huge hit for HBO on par with some of the biggest TV series of all time.

This dictated that the majority of their media they're putting out will be game related for the future and they will spin their game development into making IPs that are suitable for branching out into other media. They are making auxiliary consumer electronics that support the PlayStation brand, they are making shows that support the PlayStation brand. They are currently investing in making far more better sensors and cameras to be used specifically for their own mocap studios because other companies come to them for their facilities. There is not one part of Sony currently that does not have it's hands on something game related.

Except the point of exclusives is to get you to care about buying that brand's games and push titles to the forefront because they themselves are making them. It's a massive reason why this PC push is absolutely idiotic from every measure on Jim Ryan's part as it means the Playstation brand is far less valuable and there's far less reason to invest in a Playstation going forward when I can play every single exclusive a year or two after the fact on a PC now, even on an underpowered machine. It also completely kills you in third-world countries buying your system at all making advertising there pointless as they can simply play in net cafes on their Steam accounts now instead of saving up to buy into your ecosystem and buy your games.

A good reason why everyone is foaming at the mouth for Nintendo games, outside of the fact that their games are simply fun, is that they are exclusive to their systems. This forces you into their economy, this forces you into their store, this forces you into buying their system, and more. Yes, multiplats may earn you more in the short terms and arguably the mid term, but you will reach a point where your brand doesn't have the pull it used to. Sega and Atari being the absolute perfect examples of this.

Not at all because sometimes the cost to port a game isn't justifiable in the face of low sales. Partner the reason xbox doesn't get certain games that the switch and playstation do is because previous games sold sonpoorly on the platform that it didn't justify cost of development. Not to mention that exclusives can make for a better game because they're purposely made with only one platform in mind and not several. Companies like Sony also will give you money and tools to assist in development which lowers costs

Negotiations do not include the lead up to that. Wanting to make a massive acquisition isn't something corporations do spur of the moment or take lightly, they're not just going to enter negotiations without a plan or corporate wide agreement and that doesn't happen overnight.
