Correct. It's a shame since I love the mechanical design of the SeX, but Microshaft got completely outplayed with exclusives. Hopefully this makes Sony less hesitant to share the love on PC.

I wouldn't be surprised if the PC ports slow down as Sony starts trying to challenge PC. Also more timed exclusivity against PC since Xbox is gone now.

If sony keeps the same budgets for games as they currently are, they literally will not be able to afford keeping them off PC

Xbox is out of the market so everyone looking for a non shitch power level console is getting a PS. This is a dream come true for them. They can absolutely afford to start cutting into PC gaming now.

They're profiting even on PS game sales alone right now (except rift apart which roughly broken even). If they want to stop the PC ports to gain more marketshare they absolutely can. It made sense for them to do PC ports when Xbox was a worry but the circumstances have obviously changed now.

from what I understand companies hate console wars, they think it's only thing that really stops them as stubborn consumer will never buy their product because of loyalty to s box.

Unlike Xbox Sony wasn't concerned with moving hardware so selling some of their games on PC a few years after release doesn't change anything much to the dismay of some morons on Ganker. Now that Xbox is out of the picture though Sony can focus on stealing marketshare from PC and Shitch since it's the next closest competition they have.

                Anonymous

The only way Sony is gonna be able to compete with PC is to allow other stores on their consoles, and to guarantee compatibility with every game you download from each store.

But sure, if they can allow you to access stuff like the Steam Store, as well as play online with Steam players, and it all "just werkz" then yeah, they will be a formidable competitor, and basically the ideal console, where it just promises to play games reasonably well with zero fiddling for 7 years.

Peter Moore clearly took his Sega of America and Dreamcast experience to lay the foundation for the Xbox.

    https://news.microsoft.com/1998/05/21/microsoft-sega-collaborate-on-dreamcast-the-ultimate-home-video-game-system/

    >Microsoft developed a custom Dreamcast version of Windows CE
    >Was released right after the Dreamcast was discontinued
    >Literally uses the Dreamcast controller layout minus the VMU
    >Sega offered backwards compatibility for Dreamcast games
    >The Dreamcast was a testbed of sorts for Microsoft, with some of the console's games running on a custom version of Windows CE
    >Peter Moore who worked for Microsoft on the Xbo was the president and COO of Sega of America
    >The ESPN games, Gunvalkyrie, Headhunter Redemption, The House of the Dead 3, Jet Set Radio Future, NBA games, NCAA games, NFL games, NHL games, Otogi, Outrun, Panzer Dragoon Orta, Phantom Crash, Puyo Pop: Fever, Rent-A-Hero No. 1, Sega GT, Sega Soccer, the Sonic games, Spartan: Total Warrior, Spikeout, Super Monkey Ball: Deluxe, and Toejam & Earl 3 were all released on the Xbox
    >Hell, Jet Set Radio Future was even bundled with it
    >It went for the same audience of cool, hip, eXtreme jock gamers that the Dreamcast did
    >It fully realized the online gaming feature Sega ambitiously set out to popularize despite lacking the resources
    >Right at the end of Microsoft's E3 2007 conference, exec Peter Moore revealed a special edition Xbox 360 to be branded with Halo 3.

Remind me again why Xbox consoles are still a thing? Xbox One, Series S and Series X are literally rebadged AMD PCs.

PS4 and Xbox One use a custom AMD Jaguar-based APU, which is x86, and PS5 and Xbox Series X use Zen 2-based CPUs.

"Personal computer" (PC) was a term coined by a big tech corp, for marketing hardware along with their operating system. I thought it was Microsoft with Windows, that other anon corrected me though: It was Apple with Mac.

That is where the term actually comes from. Like Santa Claus from Coca Cola.

          >if it has a x86 it's a PC

I remember back in like late 2000s early 2010s, everything gaming in the US was an Xbox, just like how everything gaming in the 80s was a Nintendo. It can’t be understated how cataclysmic the Xbox One was.

          They had Bungie and Halo.

They had Epic and Gears of War.

They had Bioware and KOTOR and Mass Effect.

They had Lionhead and Black and White and Fable.

          They had Activision and CoD.

They had Rockstar and GTA and RDR.

They had Capcom and Dead Rising and RE5.

          They had Rocksteady and Batman.

They had Valve and Orange Box and Left 4 Dead.

They had Bethesda and Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim and Fallout.

They had the strongest console of the gen (360 > PS3 > Wii)

          What went so wrong?

A personal computer is a very general term. Being a device that can process mathematical operations. “personal” being due to the fact that computers of old where huge expensive machines that a regular person wouldn't be unable to own. An NES would count as a computer. As there was even was a cartridge that let you program using the cartridge as RAM and a keyboard peripherals for it

PC as a tern is very debated topic.
But rest assured it's called PC because that's what IBM called it, IBM PC. This is why MAC Vs PC was a thing, not because MAC wasn't personal but because MAC wasn't IBM compatible.

They stopped calling it Xbox Game Pass a while ago (just Game Pass). They also made Phil head off Microsoft Gaming and installed Sarah Bond into the head of Xbox.
What they're doing is separating Xbox from being the face of Microsoft gaming. Xbox will continue to be that device you have by your TV.
Game Pass as a service is the future they want. Service businesses are way more profitable than selling hardware. Xbox won't be an ecosystem in the future, it will just be a thing on which you buy to play games and subscribe to Game Pass.

question here is what makes a PC your pseudo understanding of a subject isn't under the qualification.
x86 has been under many many iterations just like ARM. they use same bus for majority of their lives, heck M1 uses normal bus while M1x uses weirder bus but archives same results as M1 while on paper it should be twice as fast. so is ARM a PC?

I mean that x86 and ARM are ancient.
they used in computers for over 40 years and arm was used for longer than x86 on computers afaik.
both of them started with 16bit bus, the most basic b***h bus any DIY computer uses.
if bus makes a PC, is Acorn a pc?

Look, there’s plenty of real bad news for Xbox. But im not falling for everything. We’ve seen this playbook before by Microsoft

The tactic of leaking false, often negative information to make real, potentially damaging news seem less severe when it eventually comes to light is known as a "decoy narrative" or "deflection strategy."

This approach aims to manipulate public perception and media focus, creating a situation where the actual negative news is viewed as relatively less impactful or concerning by comparison as the rumors.

It's a form of strategic communication or misinformation used to mitigate reputational damage by controlling the narrative.

Im convinced we’re in the middle of a psyop

It's kinda crazy, isn't it? Remember when everyone was talking about how PC gaming was on its last legs?

Meh, I've got a plenty fine laptop, but I have zero interest in gaming on PC. I just want my shit to work, no fiddling necessary, so consoles work for me. And, considering I'm not interested in online multiplayer, the subscription shit is irrelevant to me.

You won't be limited to just your PC. Its basically what Game Pass is doing now where you can stream games to your phone too. Last I heard they were developing an app for Smart TVs, Firesticks etc. All you'll need is a controller at that point and a subscription to your favorite gaming service by Microsoft/Sony/Ubisoft/EA. The future is now™.

they have app exclusive for Samsung TVs. don't understand why as they use android and you can just install it on your TV via usb.

I'll give up on gaming before I pay for games I don't own.

Give it until 2030. With Best Buy stopping all sales of physical movies, it's just a matter of time before physical games follow that trend. Why waste money on manufacturing a game case when you can just stream it to the end user

In that event, I'd have no trouble purchasing games through something like the PS Store (its not like I have to concern myself with getting banned, as I never play online). But I'm absolutely not paying for a subscription to stream games.

Especially since discs are just a license in the first place and modern consoles just install the whole b***h anyway.

why Gankerermin keep telling this lie?

He's not wrong, its just that the disk is a TRANSFERABLE license.

It doesn’t matter if not all of them are like that, but some are which defeats the point of physical if the contents of the game are up to whichever publisher feels like not selling everything on the disc just like it’s up to the publishers if they want to yoink a game off the digital store or not. piracy will always 100% be the best option with drm-free purchase being the next best.

Microsoft doesn't want to play the console game anymore. They want people to rent their games from Microsoft with a subscription, on console and PC.

I'm not gonna lie, a lot of this is making me really anxious.
Sony is either just gonna go mask-off and acknowledge they don't have to compete anymore and this ends with Microsoft and Sony not even putting the pretense towards currying favor with Japanese publishers by investing in development. I can see that fricking up the Japanese industry as bad as the 360/PS3 did. That and since Sony already hiked up PSN subscription prices, what's to stop them from doing it more and more? What are you gonna do, tell your average PS5 owner to build a PC? Get real.
The other half of it is I feel like this is Microsoft sacrificing high profile titles like Starfield or Halo to throw off regulatory bodies so they can keep inhaling up publishers. God knows Embracer and its enormous IP catalog are probably at their cheapest right now.
    >we're not acquiring a monopoly this is simple vertical integration we published things everywhere
Then all Microsoft has to do is inhale up cash, get people on Playstation invested in COD or Halo or whatever.
And then when those ten year COD deals are up? Look at all these games exclusive only to Microsoft game pass platforms like Xbox Heracles Model XXX or whatever dumb name they'll give it, starting with our premier launch title, Call of Duty 30 Black Ops 9 Tungsten Ball Run.
