Microsoft has to be retarded

>Has games that are critical and commercial successes
>Is a money printing machine for several factors
>Has an autistically devoted fanbase
>Has a TV show produced.
>Several pieces of old talent are just laying around in studios you own and whichever aren't can be contracted.
>Made the whole Bethesda buyout appealing in the first place.
I refuse to believe that Microsoft would let this cashcow lay dormant for the next decade with nothing other than the second season of the show or subpar 76 updates.
Microsoft can't just let this thing die right?
...right?

I imagine they inherited some of the projects and they were well into production to cancel them. Same reason why, most likely, you'll never see Obsidian develop something like Pentiment again. Their manpower will now be put towards developing what Microsoft wants.

Microsofts entire business model is to buy up the competition, do nothing and dominate the market.

Motherfricker what other company does the same type of rpgs that Bethesda does?
They've got a monopoly in fallout adjacent content that isn't indie.
They have to be moronic if they just let the franchise die, even more so with whatever interest the fallout series will bring since it's clearly made with the common average denominator in mind.

Its fricking comical how it takes Bethesda 5 to 10 years to release a game they are working out and it still comes out as a broken piece of shit. Its been 9 years since Fallout 4 came out and they are still nowhere near close to even starting work on Fallout 5.

Next thing on the schedule should be a TES game, but after Starfield I lost any hype.
Yes, I'm a Skyrimgay, bite me.

Yes, I'm a Skyrimgay, bite me.

They should not have made Starfield. I know they wanted to break out of the cycle of alternating TES and FO games forever but it wasn't worth it considering how long it took to make for such a subpar response. In another timeline they could have had TES 6 released by 2020/2021 and FO5 could be a couple years into development by now.

How the frick does it even take so long make this garbage anyway. All their games are just the same shit reskinned. Failout London is about do drop and it's free and probably took years less time to make and only a fraction of the staff.

I am pretty sure they can ask InExile for the Wasteland engine and have a team shit out Fallout 1+2 Remake by christmas 2025.

Or have a B Team make remasters of Fallout 3 and NV.

Or have a competent team of devs make another engine.

          They are just that lazy.

Almost all of their games are about homosexuals and Black folk. Any IP owned by them goes straight to a graveyard.

Pajeetsofts strategy was always monopoly literally since the first days.
If you cant assasinate or ruin the competition - buy it and let it die. Shrimple as that. All tech giants are basically right now racing for their wet dream of absolute/near absolute monopoly over digital goods.
Especially in entertainment this works great because its a pure consoomer product. If you let everything else die, slopgoys just HAVE to buy the nixt big thing from you and only you no matter what the product is. Microsoft is about to drop their own procederal gen. slop "rpgs" and doesnt want anyone to compare them.

It doesn't work, though. Comics tried this from the get-go and it has slowly killed them. We're in a much more hostile market than then, too, with big bloated monopolists being easy targets for politicians everywhere. Sooner or later attrition will catch up with them.

Of course it does, Windows is practically a monopoly.

It doesn't work in the long run, and usually brings about more laws forbidding their style of business. They never seem to realize that, though.

What would need to happen so that Microsoft says enough is enough and breaks apart Bethesda.

Interest rates staying high or another economic downturn. Being Microsoft's enemy is dangerous, but being its friend is fatal.

            >another economic downturn
We're already living in one, moron. I mean what would it take for Microsoft to pull an EA and lay off all of Todd's and Emil's cronies and swallow their asses whole?

Generally the creatively gifted people that make these franchises worth playing don't want to be stuck working on the same stuff forever.

It kinda hurts too. I got burned by 4 but I could at least still enjoy the settlement building even if everything else about the game was shit. I decided the next Fallout game could redeem the franchise but no. It was fricking Fallout 76. 9 years since 4 and 6 years since 76. Do Skyrim sales really carry them that fricking hard? Surely everyone has the game or has played it by now right?

76 is ironically better than 4 though
