That just means they will do nothing good in the future either and increase prices across the board since they'll be the only CoD/Fifa/Madden console left. A true dark age is coming.
>PS3

they also did it shitty on purpose to send old guard of devs there to die and fill piss-four with nothing but movies, capeshit and football
>It's a wonder how in the frick Sony has not collapsed they've done absolutely nothing since the PS3
They've simply not been Microsoft.
Microsoft has been tripping over themselves for 2 and a half generations now. Sony hasn't exactly been impressive.
Because the gen right after that had Microsoft screw itself royally with the Xbone and Nintendo put out the Wii U. They literally had to do nothing because people gravitated towards them due to the competition shooting themselves in the foot. Xbox still hasn't recovered from the Xbone and Nintendo decided to not compete at all and just do their own thing. Extremely ironic that we had this whole court case where Sony tried to prove Microsoft was setting up a monopoly by buying Activision and now Sony might have an actual monopoly
>Extremely ironic that we had this whole court case where Sony tried to prove Microsoft was setting up a monopoly by buying Activision and now Sony might have an actual monopoly
It's funnier than that. Sony and it's board had spent time sending Jim Ryan around the world trying to convince regulators that Microsoft would take Call Of Duty exclusive and create a monopoly just from that deal. They particularly focused on the European Union and Jim Ryan had dinners with the EU regulator commissioner to convince her that this deal was bad for competition.
Only to find that the European Union approved the MS deal and cited Sony's history of "Using foreclosure as a business practice to prevent competitors from competing in the market". The CMA also said Sony uses foreclosure and said they were blocking cloud concerns (Then reversed course when the EU got a "perfect" cloud concession from Microsoft that made the CMA look stupid).
Sony's idea for the case to the FTC was "MS potentially taking away Call Of Duty from Sony hurts the consumer because Sony owns a monopoly and most gamers are on Sony consoles". Which the judge in that case also repeatedly told the FTC it was a hypocritical argument during the trial since "Sony uses Foreclosure". And now Lina Khan sees Sony's walled garden as a competition threat.
Basically, Sony defined themselves as a monopoly and turbo-fricked themselves because now every regulator globally is on to them because they bragged they owned a monopoly. Microsoft putting games on Playstation is fricking awful news for Sony because it makes them look even worse in front of regulators who want to take down walled gardens and Microsoft eliminates the "Foreclosure" argument from future acquisitions now they are multiplat and showed they are open to divesting cloud rights.
Snoys are celebrating a victory on Ganker but I bet Sony's Californian HQ is on fricking fire at the moment wondering how to handle this shitstorm
>Basically, Sony defined themselves as a monopoly and turbo-fricked themselves because now every regulator globally is on to them because they bragged they owned a monopoly. So MS exiting the console business is all just some 4d chess move so they can get Sony broken up as a company? Hahaha, holy fricking shit.
Idk about broken up as a company but maybe force them to allow devs to put games on pc... which will in the end result in more money for MS and drive consumers to pc.

They were already heading down this road on their own. The game industry is too expensive to develop for when your reach is limited to just one closed platform.
This isn't some master moves being played here. Everyone involved is an idiot except for Nintendo. Not because they're geniuses at the game, they just choose to play another game entirely.

Right but hardware adds money to ease that. Either way I think Xbox just wanted out of hardware. I can't imagine using a console for playing games when the steam link exists for $5 and everyone has functioning cloud gaming now.

>force them to allow devs to put games on pc
wait, what. I'm not following the console market, Sony has a clause where they don't allow Playstation games to be ported to PC?
Idk about broken up as a company but maybe force them to allow devs to put games on pc... which will in the end result in more money for MS and drive consumers to pc.
It's not a 4D Chess move to break Sony up but it is pretty hilarious how it's made Sony screw themselves over in terms of Regulators not being happy. Lina Khan doing an about face in particular and wanting Sony's walled garden knocked down after spending the whole of last summer entertaining Sony's asinine argument that the judge picked apart when it actually got to court. Sony getting broken up is highly doubtful though. At the moment it looks more like the European Union will make a legal bid to include Gaming stores under the Digital Markets Act which would include Sony, Nintendo, MS, Valve and Epic as "Gatekeepers". Sony could theoretically be told they must allow "Sideloaded" stores or face fines.
So what's stopping Sony and Nintendo from just saying no?
Microsoft's future plans are to put game pass on everything and they've made it no secret they want game pass to basically parasite other platforms and leech them 30% of revenues. What if the other platforms just all block Microsoft and don't allow them on
They'd be immediately sued by regulators and Microsoft for breaching anti-trust laws. Microsoft's made no secret they want walled gardens gone. Blocking them would only make regulators accelerate plans to bring down walled gardens.

>Microsoft's made no secret they want walled gardens gone.
Yep. Microsoft realized all their major competitors (Apple, Google, Sony, Nintendo) made their money as wallet gardens. If they could get them declared illegal, then their competition loses its way of making money.
At the same time, if they drop Windows on x86 compatible hardware, then Valve loses its platform too as Windows versions inevitably go EOL.
>It's called speculating brownoid, learn how to read a market.
Xbox is the second biggest earner among Microsoft's seft-governed divisions after Office. In other words you're a moron. You think Satya gave them $100B because they don't perform well enough?
You're joking but you might be on to something. Looking at the trailer for "Project Scarlett" the first line is about "the future of gaming". It goes into how the Xbox console and all that goes into it.
?si=fnqKG-cmJV5y_QfD
They're probably going to announce a new console here. Or at least the handheld.
Looks like they are just going to push (harder) what they have been trying for ages, turn Xbox into some kind of Microsoft umbrella studio and the consoles into Xbox™ terminals. So the console won't be the "Xbox Series", it'll be the "Microsoft Series", which runs Xbox™ titles, and can access the Xbox™ Game Pass subscription service.
So we have the Xbox 360, the Xbox (not One), the Xbox One, the Xbox One S, the Xbox One X, the Xbox Series S, the Series S (all digital) and the Series X and now that's where you draw the line on their moronation?
i mean Ganker tends to forget just how small the whole entertainment division of microsoft is. the gamepass is a way to link a credit card to the microsoft store kek

Yeah I wouldn't buy gaypass I would just buy second hand xbone discs and pirate the frick out of all their games on the "console" (prebuilt PC)
>So the console won't be the "Xbox Series", it'll be the "Microsoft Series", which runs Xbox™ titles >which runs Xbox™ titles
That's the most dumbest shit ever. Like seriously. What is the difference if its called Microsoft series or Xbox. They're the same Company.
Xbros are the biggest drooling morons on the planet, this will just confuse them even more than the Series S/X model did and they will all just flock to Sony
That would be the smartest thing they can do with PC gaming on the rise and kids REALLY wanting PCs now. Offer a $500 mid tier PC sold at a loss and people would fricking flock to it. Windows 12 needs Xbox Big Picture mode and they'd be golden, let people boot into that so they can place it under their TV and act as a regular Xbox. PC prices are so fricked that people would gladly buy their Windows DRM box if it meant playing games for half the cost.
This. Only smart move to make after fricking the brand over for a decade. Probably years away from an official announcement, but when they announce the end of exclusives next week the writing is on the wall.
You got it backwards. They're gonna drop the console and call the brand something else. I cannot believe the success of the 360 has been utterly negated by the poor decisions of three men.
notice how windows 10/11 come with an xbox overlay thing you have to debloat out? I'm guessing they're merging xbox and windows. Pc gaming will be xbox gaming and vice reversa.
I don't know if you're being genuine or being a smart ass. It's hard to tell these days.
At E3, during the early days of the Xbone generation, Microsoft's presentation would start every trailer with CONSOLE LAUNCH EXCLUSIVE splash on nearly every title shown. Everything was either coming to PC day 1 or was an Xbox time exclusive. I think a majority of us definitely saw the tiny cracks starting to show in Microsoft's armor after that presentation.
No where in that chain of replies was that implied or joked on. What the FRICK are you talking about?

this twitter and reddit drama is the industry in decline, but they're focusing on microsoft but not sony. That's all. This console war bullshit is low IQ and you are an ape, the entire industry is receding
Eventually Microsoft Game pass, Microsoft 365, OneDrive and CoPilot Pro will be all combined into a "Microsoft Pass" subscription, which will become mandatory to use Windows 12.
Honestly the end goal is likely to have game pass be on Playstation...they want to be the netflix of videogames and therefore should be on every platform...personally i enjoy gamepass but would rather see it die in favor of physical (wont happen, game pass might fail tho because xbox leaders are moronic)
Microsoft make free money from inefficient enterprise too lazy to move off old versions of Windows. Long-term support agreements are extortionate. Chuck in Office 365 Enterprise and Education licenses and Azure and you'd have to be a right moron to cause Microsoft to fail. There's nothing amazing about Nadella's leadership.
Yes Microsoft is winning so much that's why they have to support linux containers and had to make .net core run in linux which is the standard for microservices.
hyper-v and wsl2 means users don't have to use virtualbox/vmware and stay in the microsoft ecosystem so you aren't proving the point you think

i accept your concession since you said linux containers (wsl2) and talked about .net running crossplatform which was smart to make the jvm a legacy technology for most.
but yes you were talking about orchestration you homosexual
Microsoft is using freetards without spending a dime, they literally turned Linux into a Windows app. Other companies do the same, you fell for a shit ideology and got used.
>Overpriced dehumidifier >Paid online >Full priced games that take an eternity to release and when they release they're mediocre as frick
That isn't winning.
Well, when the competition also sells overpriced dehumidifiers with paid online and only gets full priced games that take an eternity to release and when they release they're mediocre as frick, but then the competition drops out, they do kinda win.
I wonder if Microsoft will invest in GPUs, even Apple has their own designs now. They are investing heavily in AI so it would be smart to not rely on Nvidia
They are making their own AI accelerators. The leaked Xbox shit had mentions of using an AI coprocessor for the next Xbox and Windows PCs to speed up misc tasks and do stuff like machine learning upscaling similar to DLSS.
my theory is that the next xbox will be a regular xbox but with the added twist of it also benefitting from cloud computing, thereby making the xbox as fast as a two thousand dollar pc and more. maybe that's what they intend to do right now with the current xbox, actually, who knows?

My English teacher got this wrong too. I only knew about it because I read about the issue online before. >Americans get this wrong all the time for some reason.
It's a reasonable assumption to be fair. Every other word uses 's at the end for possession, it's just that "it" is different because it can also be short for it is.
It's is short for it is, so like "we need bread, it is at the store"
Its is referring to something someone owns, so like "that? its Bob's bread, don't eat that."
>xbox brand is third >typically seen as a laughing stock >microsoft finally killing it
It’s like the opposite of Twitter becoming X. In that, a capricious rich man took a successful brand and gave it a stupid name, tanking its name recognition. In Microsoft’s case they are getting rid of an unpopular and unsuccessful brand.
Jeez they really are doing away with boxes, I thought they were just going multiplat alongside the xbox
I hope this means they relax the restrictions on series S versions of games not being allowed to miss any features at all so sparking zero can have split screen
So we'll have Playstation and Nintendo making consoles, with Playstation games coming to PC after a year or so, which sounds like a fine compromise to me.
Xbox just publishing games like Sega is going to work out fine and I think they know that. Hopefully Playstation can integrate some kind of Playstation/Game Pass dual subscription and everyone can profit.
I do wonder who will fill the void. Will someone else like Amazon or Apple release a console?
>I do wonder who will fill the void. Will someone else like Amazon or Apple release a console?
It will have to be someone who can profit off hardware, because it will probably be a digital only device that serves as an alternative. However, it basically looks like it's just going to be Playstation is the home console of choice and Nintendo is the portable/hybrid console of choice for the future.
>It will have to be someone who can profit off hardware
Valve is gonna make steam boxes a thing again, the shift to all Digital makes literal PC's more appealing than locked down consoles. Steam will subsidize the steam boxes just like they do the steam deck, with 30% from game sales.
>Will someone else like Amazon or Apple release a console?
Nobody will, a bunch of people have this take that if Sony and Nintendo will dominate too hard someone will come in with an alternative offering but it won't happen. Infinite money of Microsoft wasn't able to get every dev on board and any kind of new hardware will be looked at the same as Xbox was: a worse Playstation.
No one is going to fill the voice if that happens. The only reason Microsoft lasted as long as it did is because they can throw infinite money at it and actually had people at first committed to it. Practically no other company has that kind of drive or even wants to realistically.
>It was always a duopoly,
Not always. The early 00s had Sony monopoly (Xbox and Gamecube were so distant they did not matter), and the late 00s had the Wii60 destroying the PS3. Sony only started climbing back up in the early 00s when Microsoft was focusing on the Kinect. And after that the Switch was destroying everything.

lel sony is not innocent. they have done plenty of evil shit. they have the blood of countless victims on their hands. not totally innocent victims, mayhaps, but still..
Looking through archives and searching for that Xbox Series X/S logo that was present...
It's gone. They've removed all references. It's been replaced by Console.
Their entire console venture feels very weird on the hindsight.
OG Xbox bleed money by selling an amazing console for loss to enter into console market.
360 despite people loving it originally had terrible hardware issues, which is the reason PS3 eventually overtook it.
Xbox One. Almost nonexistent.
Series X just buy more studios to exit console market.
At least we got Xbox 360 controller and icons out of the whole thing.
It all was salvageable up until the late 7th gen, when they took the idiot ball from Sony. Originally 360 was the no-bullshit game console with tons of exclusives both from west and east, while PS3 was the overpriced blu-ray player with shitty multiplats, but lo and behold, MS went full moron with Kinectshit, started focusing more on media and waggle bullshit in the late 360 era at cost to vidya (and most of their successful franchises also started to dry up at that point, like Halo, Gears of War and Fable). The culmination of that was Xbone, the console that no-one ever asked for, with all the wrong focuses.
Ironically, Series X is pretty solid as hardware and on the UI side, but what good is that when its console exclusives end up sucking super hard?
Yeah I agree. Xbox always had interesting exclusives coming out before that. I think even Bayonetta was going to be an exclusive originally. They stopped focusing on games by then.
Quick resume is still the most interesting feature on modern day consoles, but as you've said they needed games.
>Originally 360 was the no-bullshit game console
RROD, microtransactions, $60 games - the 360 had plenty of bullshit from day one. Kinect was just the straw that broke the camel's back.
Microsoft did it before anyone else with Kameo:
https://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Winter-Warrior-Pack/00000000-0000-4000-8000-000b4d5307d2
Oblivion's horse armor was also Microsoft's idea, which is why the PS3 version didn't have it.
>terrible hardware issues, which is the reason PS3 eventually overtook it.
nah, the PS3 also had terrible hardware issues. but Microsoft apologized and threw a billion dollars at the problem, while Sony bowed silently for a minute and that was it.
360 was destroying the PS3 in the mid 00s. It was after 2010 when the PS3 overtook them, when the Wii was past its peak and Microsoft was busy making useless waggle shit for Kinect, while Sony started publishing actual games.
>PS3 eventually overtook 360, because Microsoft stopped making 360.
It happened before they stopped making it. 360 production ended in 2016, PS3 overtook it in 2013.
I think Microsoft tried to give one more chance to the Xbox division, to see if exclusive games on console would greatly increase their sales, but seeing what happened with RedFall and Starfield, compared to Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo in their competition, Microsoft preferred to continue with their original idea of bringing Game Pass to every possible platform, but for that they had to take their games to the competition and get rid of the "Xbox" brand to be sold as a game subscription, just as with EA Play
Microsoft transitioned their entire Xbox business model over to Game Pass, being a subscription service that severely cannibalizes the rest of their gaming business it's gonna need a lot of subscribers.
Phil figured that if they put out a couple of hit titles then Xbox Series sales would go up enough to get Game Pass numbers where they're needed. Currently GP is doing good enough to sustain itself but not good enough to sustain the rest of the failing Xbox ecosystem.
Unfortunately Xbox console sales are fricking awful and are showing no signs of improving. And at this point they can't move away from the "Netflix of games" model either without pissing off the last few remaining fans they have.
The solution? Trim the fat, keep the meat. In this case that means cutting off the now-unprofitable consoles. Will they also put out Game Pass on PlayStation or are they hoping to make money on selling full priced games to Sony gamers? We'll find out next week.
>And at this point they can't move away from the "Netflix of games" model either without pissing off the last few remaining fans they have.
Xgay here. They pissed of everyone, even the most delusional holdouts can only parrot "wait for the confirmation". Without a console Game Pass won't have near as much draw as it had before. If they can put GP on PS it will be a watered down MS only games service like EA Play and such which is nowhere near as profitable, especially if their heavy hitter (COD) won't be in it. They are essentially betting they can grow GP on PS/Switch enough the Xbox players leaving won't be an issue. I think they won't be able but honestly I can see MS getting successful as well as a final shit in the face of fans who held out. Only they got fricked over by the end because they kept the system alive until MS could jump ship.
>spend whole year getting through all the paperwork to buy Activision >has only been ~6 months since things have settled >Xbox hasn't magically sold 100M more systems yet or even had a chance to influence a single Actiblizz game >"Hurr what the frick why isn't Xbox suddenly super duper rich?! That's it kill everything and give our competition everything they could dream of"
Not that Phil is some genius but upper management are even bigger morons. Why sign off on massive purchases without being willing to wait for them to possibly pay off.
Years ago somebody at a meeting probably pointed out that Xbox hasn't had any games since Phils been in charge and in a panic he decided to throw money at established devs to claim credit for games already in development. He might've gotten away with it if Starfield wasn't a complete pile of shit
It was probably Starfield that killed the whole thing, I’m sure Phil was telling them it would all turn around when Starfield came out. There is also the fact they bought ABK at the height of the market, but it’s been declining for the past two years. Now gaming doesn’t look as profitable as it did and the Board and management want some kind of return on the money they just spent. I expect they’ll probably shed some studios are shut them down.

They can still publish games, just leave the console business. In a way, this may end up being more profitable for them because they don't have to give a shit about hardware and port the games to any system they want.
This would piss off the Xbox diehards but honestly might work out better for them in the long run

haha. poorgays don't understand business, Xbox made a bad business decision and thought global economic will recover as before covid especially for china (which is misled by other investors), but things has changed: Chinese consumption will never back and US is already in consumer recession while interest rate is still high. Sell something at loss isn't viable strategy anymore. Sony can get money back from 3rd party revenue for PS5 while MS cannot because everything is in xgp. I am glad MS CEO has reasonable IQ to understand they should cut off these unprofitable business.

They wanted Candy Crush and a trojan horse back into the phone market which they got pushed out of in the late 2000's with the emergence of Android and Iphone devices (they were responsible for a 40% portion of OS sales of phone devices).
They likely still fully intended on challenging Sony up the end of last year. They released Starfield. They bought out Activision-Blizzard. Everything was going right for them, and then holiday 2023 came around and they STILL got destroyed by Sony.
That was when they threw in the towel. If Starfield couldn't save them, nothing could.
Not to defend those woketard walking simulators, but at least all of those were actual purchases. Bethesda is counting gamepass subs and probably torrent downloads in their "player" count.

It's been over a dozen years since Skyrim came out. By the time the sequel to TES comes out in 4-6 years, the gap will be an entire generation who was born after the fact.
If Xbox kills the brand then Sony will be running solo and every snoygay is going to end up realizing how shit that'll be for them, Nintendo owns their share of the market and despite a massive jump in the past decade most normalgays are morons and absolutely refuse to dip their toes seriously into the electronic lego simulator that is getting a PC so Sony will end up likely dominating the "next gen" space and all the shit like price increases and digital licenses are gonna get worse and worse because where the frick is everyone else gonna go, the Switch 2??
They'll still maintain a hardware presence of some sort, like a Series S minibox which plays games at minimum specs and streams, to cover any of their back catalog which can't be ported over for one reason or another. I'd bet money they'll try a lower spec Surface/handheld hybrid along the lines of the Rog Ally or Lenovo Legion Go, as well. But there will never be another "most powerful console" again.
They're a giant company, they have had plenty of failed projects and ventures. Google and Amazon are huge ass companies too and half of their products are failures.
Sony won the battle but the problem now is that every regulator globally is now pissed at Sony because Sony happily used "Foreclosure as a strategy" while crying foul that Microsoft would foreclose Call Of Duty against them. And in recent days that includes Lina Khan turning on Sony saying she plans for the FTC to take down "Gaming walled gardens".
And what does Microsoft want most of all that they were trying to do to Google and Apple? Kill walled gardens. And what do regulators globally want to do? Kill walled gardens. And if the European Union can make almighty Apple kneel. What do you think they are going to do to Sony?
The war is for the ecosystem and Sony already lost.
>And if the European Union can make almighty Apple kneel. What do you think they are going to do to Sony?
Not a damn thing as opening up the walled garden of PlayStation would mean it's no longer a dedicated video game console but rather a general purpose computer.
Sony already tried to argue that, twice, and failed both times. That's why Linux was officially available on PS2 and PS3, it was part of a tax scam where computers pay less import taxes than game consoles.
The nature of "Walled Garden" ecosystems has changed since then and the EU has been the most progressive regulator globally who are demanding sideloaded stores and more consumer choice. Sony's position will have to change because of new regulations that target "Digital ecosystems" and Sony has 100 million plus users globally so it puts them in EU Crosshairs (Before anyone starts it puts Nintendo in the same crosshairs and Nintendo lawyers will have to figure a way to wriggle out of that too)
Did kek hard when Sony sent Jim Ryan to Brussels repeatedly try convince the EU Regulator commissioner that Microsoft would foreclose Call Of Duty against them. Only for the EU to utterly obliterate Sony in their report saying that Sony used foreclosure repeatedly and consistently against other companies in the gaming space to keep their monopoly status and Microsoft getting Activision posed no risk to Sony. No wonder the Sony board sent Jim packing.

They were one of the biggest contributors to Tim Epic's lol-suit against Apple. Their CEO has repeatedly said they want Walled Gardens gone.
souless microsoft NPCs are killing the xbox brand because they think they can grow game pass under the microsoft name and going 3rd party.
this is a huge miscalculation and they are going to alienate their core user base. I doubt there will be much point to owning xbox hardware.
I'm pissed off at this news, i've been team xbox for 20 years. I honestly hate microsoft and their shit products. I will start moving away from them now.
Every single fricking market M$ tried to get into, they absolutely epic failed
Phones, consoles, media, hardware, web, servers, portable players, cloud...
And they are failing at the OS marketshare lately.
I wish you fricking fail, you bought 60% of good old and new IPs and studios and you did fricking nothing.
I keep seeing posts that Phil was worse than Mattrick and that's nothing but cope
Yeah Phil did not do a great job bailing out the ship but good luck doing that after Mattrick spent years smashing holes in it with a cannon
It is an unwinnable state, they gave people day 1 big new releases for $1 to $10 but GP still has less subs than NSO despite being on mobile and PC too. It's an Epic Game Store situation, it doesn't matter what exclusives or free games EGS gives out because no one is going to switch and EGS costs PCgays nothing to try. Xbox has a buy in price so it's even harder to get people to try it. Mattrick tainted the brand forever, there was no recovery however putting games on PC day 1 absolutely ensured that Xbox would never recover. The short terms profits killed the brand long term.
How is it cope? Mattrick didn't blow trillions on studios that immediately stopped making games. Phil's "great games don't matter" excuse is at least as bad as Mattrick's "you can buy a 360" after Phil spent the past decade touting "more than hype, we're bringing games," "greatest game lineup in Xbox history," and released frick all to show for it.
Mattrick was only speaking of behalf of the board of Microsoft. By 2008, the honeymoon period was over and the investors and top branch of Microsoft wanted that awaited promise of the Xbox being a "home entertainment system"' that was initially pitched back in the late 90's to come into full fruition. Thus the 360 morphed further into the 'comcast killer' (back when ondemand was the king of cable) it initially was meant to be and the Xbone had hardware specifically meant for that.
Mattrick was a problem sure, but he was also a person who knew how to take orders if given to him.
>"We're not in the business of out-consoling Sony or out-consoling Nintendo," Spencer said. "There isn't really a great solution or win for us. >"And I know that will upset a ton of people, but the truth of the matter is, when you're third place in the console marketplace and the top two players are as strong as they are. >"I see it out there, I see commentary that if you just build great games, everything would turn around," he said. "It's just not true that if we go off and build great games, all of a sudden you're going to see console share shift in some dramatic way. >"This idea that if we just focused more on great games on our console, that somehow we're going to win the console race, I think doesn't relate to the reality of most people." >Phil Spencer is an American business executive and the CEO of Microsoft Gaming.
I have not payed attention to Xbox since the 360 because I was always a Sony+Nintendo idort, but this is a legitimate question : What the frick happened?
Did the brand just lose its dudebro audience? Not enough exclusives? Cani alienation from PC?
Anyone who did play on Xbox know when the decline began?
>Did the brand just lose its dudebro audience?
Yes. When Microsoft went all in on the Kinect, this was the first domino to fall because they started to lose the audience they gained on 360 in favor of the casual audience. This led to that infamous Xbox One reveal conference (The TV TV TV one) that drove players toward PS4. It never recovered after that
>Not enough exclusives?
There just isn't enough games people give a shit about. Like, I hate to quote dunkey here, but he said like a few years ago Xbox is the system you only get because your friends have Xbox. And if nobody's getting Xbox well...
This. Only smart move to make after fricking the brand over for a decade. Probably years away from an official announcement, but when they announce the end of exclusives next week the writing is on the wall.
Why didn't Phil Spencer the man at the top of the food chain in MSFT Gaming say "We strongly deny these rumors". That's all he had to do. From a PR perspective he poured gasoline on the fire of the Xbox brand then walked back inside his house.
Because some aspect of the rumors are likely true. If he said "none of these are true" and then they do the conference and it turns out they are true, that would just be a bigger disaster than the Xbox One reveal proving the rumored stuff about it was going to happen
I mean Phil literally publicly said on an important interview that "there is no timeline where Starfield is a 11/10" and that no exclusives could save them and topped it off with admitting that they lost the hardware war and that PS users won't abandon their digital libraries for XBOX.
At this point only biggest copers didn't realize it was fricking over. That moron couldn't save the brand if his mother's life relied on it. XBOX was mismanaged for over 10 years straight now when they literally were ahead of PS3 back in the 360 days.
It's not that simple anymore. Phil was kinda right. Even if they made an amazing game, we are now in era of accounts and digital libraries. People amassed shitton of titles they won't just drop for a single game on XBOX.
That doesn't work in this day and age. People forget just how much money Microsoft had to fork over to get developers to make games for the OG Xbox and Xbox 360. It wasn't the same process as devs leaving Nintendo for Sony back in the PS1/N64 days where the form of media was the incentive.
homie
they have been buying out studios since 2018
that's already SIX YEARS AGO
you'd expect those "multiple system sellers" by now
what did they get from it? >Redfall >Starfield
Maybe games like Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment (which are already confirmed multiplat), which arent' big enough to amass an audience.
MS execs simply noticed that Phil was spending BILLIONS UPON BILLIONS of dollars - money that could literally BUY SONY PS DIVISION - and produced no good results. Activision deal ended up as absurdly bad - they couldn't secure CoD exclusivity and all the IPs they got won't make the money back even in 20 fricking years.
>money that could literally BUY SONY PS DIVISION
This implies that Sony would be willing to sell it. Just because Microsoft has money, doesn't mean investors of a company would sell. After all, the gaming division of Sony is Sony's bread and butter.
Anonymous
Of course they wouldn't sell. The point is just HOW MUCH money that is.
For another comparison. They could fund 400 games of the nu-GoW scale with that money, marketing and all. FOUR HUNDRED.
That's more games than 99% of people will play in their life.
That MS/Actiblizz merger is going to be a case study in business schools on why you shouldn't always buy something just because you can. I'm amazed that Phil hasn't been outright fired yet for getting Microsoft stuck with that albatross.

Are people here just not aware...or perhaps too young to remember the very reason why Microsoft joined the console market to begin with? It was because they had a premonition that the PlayStation 2 would be the cornerstone of the entertainment market acting as a hub for games, tv shows, movies, and music. Microsoft felt threatened by this because this was their ambition for the Windows operating system back in the 90s.
Obviously things didn't pan out this way as Sony's dominance outside of anything but videogame consoles has declined dramatically in the 2000s and the Xbox itself has struggled financially throughout its entire lifespan with the past 10 years of it barely holding onto relevance.
So why are people shocked by this? >b-but they bought Activision Blizzard!!!
Yes, because they own the more lucrative franchises. No, not CoD or WoW, but fricking Candy Crush and all the other mobile games. This is their ticket to becoming king of mobile gaming in their eyes and is no doubt the pitch Phil Spencer used to justify the costly acquisition.
That purchase was authorized by Microsoft, Phil doesn't make those decisions alone. And no, it was a good choice because of the mobile market. They own Candy Crush now.

Candy Crush would still need 80 years by itself to make up for the money spend on that deal.

Except this gives Microsoft a broader access into the mobile market as a whole. Again, they want to get back into the mobile market and the biggest game app on the phone is that linchpin.

>That purchase was authorized by Microsoft
Because Phil obviously sold them a bill of goods about how Xbox would turn it around for real this time if they just spent another $75 billion. >And no, it was a good choice because of the mobile market. They own Candy Crush now.
They're pulling the plug on Xbox and doing mass layoffs at Activision. Candy Crush is the one silver lining, but it's still not enough to justify the deal as a whole.

Microsoft at the end of the day is a software company, their primary concern has always been software dominance and being the center of that. This acquisition is more about maintaining that dominance. Hardware like the xbox can be sacrificed.

>Microsoft at the end of the day is a software company, their primary concern has always been software dominance and being the center of that.
Why is the Xbox user interface full of ads and a full screen ad at random times?
This is nonsense, people bought Switches en masse for one or two games with the understanding that they'd not be able to carry over their games from the PS4, why would it be any different here?
ff the moron had not cancelled scalebound it would've helped xone sales
alot of people were actually hyped for that game
mattrick would've never cancelled it
their plan is "selling" games at lower price to gain markets share. Because studios cannot sell games at cheaper prices at box than ps because Sony want price-match. Subscription solves the problem and they thought they can take Sony market share while they have cheap money during covid. But party is over.
It's incredible he said that on a podcast(?) specifically dedicated to Xbox. Imagine how those guys felt. They landed an exclusive interview with Phil Spencer and it ends up being an apology for Redfall who proceeds to say that shit.
I really loved how people tried to pretend him saying "exclusives won't sell consoles" didn't actually mean him saying exclusives won't sell consoles
Don't have to buy an Xbox console to play Rare Replay with Xbox console brand becoming a third party. Nice. Get to work on that port for Switch and PS5.

>Microsoft was still selling Series X/S at a loss back in 2022 >Sony started making profits 9 months after launch even with all the supply chain and scalper frickery during the pandemic >Microsoft sold less consoles last year and even reduced the Series X to $350 during December and it still didn't make a dent >They're also below sales compared to Xbox One at this point in time >people still keep bringing up Don Mattrick and the Xbox One as the only reasons why Xbox is flailing as a brand now despite it being a month away from being 10 years of Phil Spencer leading the brand
Even if the full multi-platform rumour ends up not being true, it's still fascinating watching Xbox try and keep their heads above the water with trying to carve out their own niche like Nintendo did after the failure of the Wii U and still managing to frick that up.
>>Sony started making profits 9 months after launch even with all the supply chain and scalper frickery during the pandemic
Because the scalpers bought up all that stock. Did you think the scalpers got their shit for free? moron
Don't reply to me. Reply to the moegay who made the claim in the first place. If it's even true, scalpers buying up literally all the stock for sale would account for it.
Aside from some controllers I've purchased for my PC I've never given Xbox a single cent, and I still don't want them to go third party party because I just fricking know Sony is gonna phone it in even harder than they already are without any competition.
Regardless of which side you're on, competition benefits you because you get a better product as a result.
On the contrary, I think Phil Spencer isn’t dumb and is actually being quite realistic given the situation, that’s not to say Xbox isn’t fricked though. I imagine this was coming one way or another and he wanted to go out with a bang.
It's not that bizarre
If it was up to Phil Spencer he would have denied the leaks the moment they came out.
I believe MS porting their games to Playstation is most likely an order from the higher ups @ MS that absolutely hate how much money they spent on the gaming division and have been wanting to get the frick out for quite a while
It’d probably be a lie even if Phil came out and said Xbox is alive and well. Sega lied about the death of Dreamcast being false the week leading up to its death announcement. Nintendo also lied about the Wii U dying until December 2016.
>the internet >oh no! Xbox is dying >Reality >MS might be getting gamepass on the competing consoles >you gays think this is a loss
MS just strong armed their money making service on sony and nintendo.
Reminder that MS is a service provider.
Reminder that Xbox is a console business and it has lost every generation and lost the one right now with few exclusives. GamePass is also not growing and it will not be allowed on Nintendo or Sony. Their Xbox Series console is selling less than their Xbox One, they are porting their exclusives, their rent service is stalled. You're a moron.
Snoy cattle are too moronic to see the big picture. I can assure you, now that competition is dead, snoy will raise the price of their games to 100 dollaroos, and their paypigs will still buy it. Not like they will have a choice anyway.
Xbox already hasn't been competition in 15 years and the only industry-wide price hike in all that time was driven by a third-party publisher. And Microsoft and Nintendo hopped on the bandwagon just like Sony did. Switch games increasing to $70 was honestly the most egregious move since the original $60 price was already a $20 increase from 3DS games.
The only reason I still play on my xbox is because of the Microsoft reward system. I can get pretty much every multiplat I want for 25$ off minimum. Sometimes 50$ off if it's a slow year.
We can only truly hope. Next we can only hope Sony takes a major gut punch within the next half decade so they can stop being moronic and start making games instead of "cinematic experiences" and capeshit.
Ganker here: you didn't hear it from me, but MS is about to release off the shelf PCs, some of which will be basically be Xboxes. It will all just be Windows gaming.
Eric's mentally ill and obsessed with drama. He feeds off of this stuff. There's zero evidence for any of his claims, but since xbox is in the media he thinks it validates his samegay spam
Xbox could be spun off as its own company. They'll get one last cash infusion, and then that's it. They won't be able to do GamePass like they have been and they'll need games. Either they turn a profit or they die.
>Completely dunks on the industry by making a console with actual useable hardware and online implementation. >Releases a new console that kills the PS3 in performance to the point late life games like Destiny ran at locked 60 fps on the 360 but at 20 fps on the PS3. >The Xbox One gets every AAA and indie game on it along its lifetime meanwhile Sony only has exclusives which everyone just watches on Youtube anyway >Xbox Series X outdoes PS5 performance and has a much wider library right into the start of its lifetime. >Introduces a service to have almost every single game released for PC and Console for a price less than a youtube membership >Now is so big and successful they don't even have to be constrained by the Xbox brand and they can just merge into the marketing and economy of the brand that LITERALLY controls the entire computer ecosystem on a global scale.
Microsoft literally ate the entire industry up and is now gonna have an unchecked monopoly on it and Ganker is still talking about Sony exclusives.
Well if you've posted here for more than a week you would know this is an eric thread
The most evident factor is the incessant samegay spam in agreeance with the OP (a twitter screenshot) with no actual discussion or sources being posted
There's no proof they wouldn't just be walking it back like they did with always online and killing used games. Which they are currently doing and just took a detour to get there.
The whole reason Stadia failed was Google wanted to work with publishers, and was willing to let them sell games on a streaming platform.
Microsoft on the other hand bought the whole publisher, so they could force them over to a games as a service subscription model.
It isn't just Xbox. Microsoft is planning to get out of the home platform market entirely. They're shifting to being a services company.
Even Windows itself may be going away. Their next big thing will be win32 compatibility environments as a service.
The mental gymnastics of a flame war spammer is infinite. If they say microsoft isn't possible microsoft isn't profitable, if they bump a thread for 10 hours saying that the mods don't remove it. This board is a joke
>The things that actually made it possible to make games?
None of the Microsoft proprietary crap you mentioned 'made it possible to make games'.
They encouraged bad habits, and single-platform thinking, that made game dev more difficult.
>This could potentially be considered weird fricking collusion nowadays.
Gabe has been trying to get developers off Windows for years. What the hell do you think Proton is for?
Anon, Steam is afraid of Microsoft because they can end their whole business overnight by abusing their store shit and DirectX APIs. Why do you think they invest so much money on Linux gaming?
So what's stopping Sony and Nintendo from just saying no?
Microsoft's future plans are to put game pass on everything and they've made it no secret they want game pass to basically parasite other platforms and leech them 30% of revenues. What if the other platforms just all block Microsoft and don't allow them on
not sure why people don't realize this. gp has less subs than ps+ and nso, is selling less than the xbone did at this point, and only went up 3% yoy for december after selling the series x at $350(with a free game) and the series s under $200. it was cheaper than the switch but got outsold by the switch.
Regardless of what comes out next week, the Phil Spencer-led Xbox just can't keep themselves out of negative headlines. Constantly. Time and time again. For years now.
The Xbox brand was already arguably irrevocably tainted prior to all of this shit. It really doesn't matter what is said next week at this point, as the Xbox brand is just in an awful, awful state regardless, with no signs of turning things around.
And this is coming from someone who generally likes Xbox and would like to see them turn it around.
>all console companies are shit >media focusses on microsoft >soft brained Black person: wow microsoft is in the news a lot, they must be bad
stick to youtube comments you troglodyte
lol I saw your post in the other thread, post it again in the morning for more replies
I just stole his screenshot
I would say "oh no, what is Sony gonna do without competition" but then I realized sony hasn't made anything good in years either.
DELET THIS!
Alice!
That just means they will do nothing good in the future either and increase prices across the board since they'll be the only CoD/Fifa/Madden console left. A true dark age is coming.
> A true dark age is coming.
Oh no, anyway *plays PC*
PC is for trannies, tho.
Oh no, anyway *plays PC*
Not my problem.
It's a wonder how in the frick Sony has not collapsed they've done absolutely nothing since the PS3
>PS3
they did vita
they also did it shitty on purpose to send old guard of devs there to die and fill piss-four with nothing but movies, capeshit and football
Snoys are celebrating a victory on Ganker but I bet Sony's Californian HQ is on fricking fire at the moment wondering how to handle this shitstorm
are the snoys in the room with you right now?
>No argument
Your troonycession has been accepted.
sorry xis didn't know you were closeted too
>Basically, Sony defined themselves as a monopoly and turbo-fricked themselves because now every regulator globally is on to them because they bragged they owned a monopoly.
They're going full cloud services company.
because you’re moron. simple as that
Helldivers 2 and granblue re:link just came out l.
Helldivers 2 is launched in a big ridden state
And I am.playing Relink on my PC, what's the point you're trying to make
>on consoles
They really want to disassociate the Xbox brand from the hardware huh
Microsoft wants to go software only, their xbox shit has never been profitable in nearly 20 fricking years
Source? your gaping hairy butthole
It's called speculating brownoid, learn how to read a market.
It's called you're a dumb Black person that should have a nice day
>It's called speculating brownoid, learn how to read a market.
Xbox is the second biggest earner among Microsoft's seft-governed divisions after Office. In other words you're a moron. You think Satya gave them $100B because they don't perform well enough?
Satya would probably give them $100B so they can hire more Indians. It's because of that butthole that Windows got permanent fricked after Win7.
You WILL continue to play on the CloudBox
...they're going to drop the XBox name and call the console something else moving forward?
They're unveiling the Xbox Scarlet they teased like 6 years ago
You're joking but you might be on to something. Looking at the trailer for "Project Scarlett" the first line is about "the future of gaming". It goes into how the Xbox console and all that goes into it.
?si=fnqKG-cmJV5y_QfD
They're probably going to announce a new console here. Or at least the handheld.
>They're probably going to announce a new console here
By "here" I'm referring to next week's business update.
If the rumours are true it's possibly Intel/Nvidia powered as well.
Rumors said 2026, announcing a new consoles 2 years in advance seems dumb but it worked for the Switch I guess.
Looks like they are just going to push (harder) what they have been trying for ages, turn Xbox into some kind of Microsoft umbrella studio and the consoles into Xbox™ terminals. So the console won't be the "Xbox Series", it'll be the "Microsoft Series", which runs Xbox™ titles, and can access the Xbox™ Game Pass subscription service.
sounds moronic
So we have the Xbox 360, the Xbox (not One), the Xbox One, the Xbox One S, the Xbox One X, the Xbox Series S, the Series S (all digital) and the Series X and now that's where you draw the line on their moronation?
>the Series S (all digital)
Uh, don't you mean the Xbox One S (All Digital)
Honestly, just calling it "the Xbox 6" would've been less embarrassing as a competitor to the PS5. Speaks to how low they've gotten.
if it lets you boot windows its not
This.
If I can boot windows and play my steam games and run emulators off it I will fricking buy one.
i mean Ganker tends to forget just how small the whole entertainment division of microsoft is. the gamepass is a way to link a credit card to the microsoft store kek
Yeah I wouldn't buy gaypass I would just buy second hand xbone discs and pirate the frick out of all their games on the "console" (prebuilt PC)
>So the console won't be the "Xbox Series", it'll be the "Microsoft Series", which runs Xbox™ titles
>which runs Xbox™ titles
That's the most dumbest shit ever. Like seriously. What is the difference if its called Microsoft series or Xbox. They're the same Company.
Xbros are the biggest drooling morons on the planet, this will just confuse them even more than the Series S/X model did and they will all just flock to Sony
this is so stupid to the point it sounds plausible
They did it many times, Bing>Microsoft Bing> Bing Ai > Copilot
its going to be called the Microsoft Playstation 5
Based on the Gamestop "typo," looks like they're dropping Xbox as a brand or the Xbox console brand and it'll just be Microsoft Game Pass
Microsoft box
Microbox
It's just a prebuilt PC and is advertised as such.
The only thing it can't do is load other OSes, its locked.
>it's a prebuilt PC!
NO IT FRICKING ISN'T STOP POSTING THIS BULLSHIT
By "console," they mean Switch and PS5.
only 20 years late to dropping that garbage name.
That shit is so annoying to get rid of, and if you turn it off some games won’t even run properly on steam. MS is shit.
It's more likely Xbox will be the console orientated brand (because it hasn't even been a console thing for years now.. or a box)
... oh wait.
>X
>Elon Musk
No way. Is this what I think it is?
Well I guess Xbox really is dead dead.
A more diverse and inclusive name for their new console.
I called it years ago, gamepass was going to destroy the brand. I just want to see what Satya Nutella is going to force them to do at this point
Selling the assets to Amazon, Valve or Epic
For me, it was "day 1 on PC". When I realized that was happening, I had a feeling things weren't going to go well
Is that in reference to sony's new strategy or something microsoft did much earlier?
I don't know if you're being genuine or being a smart ass. It's hard to tell these days.
At E3, during the early days of the Xbone generation, Microsoft's presentation would start every trailer with CONSOLE LAUNCH EXCLUSIVE splash on nearly every title shown. Everything was either coming to PC day 1 or was an Xbox time exclusive. I think a majority of us definitely saw the tiny cracks starting to show in Microsoft's armor after that presentation.
>nobody makes games anymore
>there's less games
very good observation
No where in that chain of replies was that implied or joked on. What the FRICK are you talking about?
this twitter and reddit drama is the industry in decline, but they're focusing on microsoft but not sony. That's all. This console war bullshit is low IQ and you are an ape, the entire industry is receding
There was a leak where Gamepass was changed from "Xbox Gamepass" to "Microsoft Gamepass".
They are just rebranding and restructuring a bunch of things. Phil Spencer said that there will be an official announcement of everything next week.
No, there wasn't. That was language specifically used by Gamestop and Gamestop has since commented on it saying you are moronic.
ESL #2
stay butthurt
Eventually Microsoft Game pass, Microsoft 365, OneDrive and CoPilot Pro will be all combined into a "Microsoft Pass" subscription, which will become mandatory to use Windows 12.
Don't forget to upgrade your MicroPassLicence™ to your MicroGamerXGamer™ProPassLicence™ to access the complete library of 2 bethesda games!
Honestly the end goal is likely to have game pass be on Playstation...they want to be the netflix of videogames and therefore should be on every platform...personally i enjoy gamepass but would rather see it die in favor of physical (wont happen, game pass might fail tho because xbox leaders are moronic)
wait, they're killing gamepass too?
frick
So Xbox will become something like Take-Two?
lmao is this what pajeet leadership looks like?
No, that's what Mattrick+Phil leadership looks like. Nutella's leadership looks like a 3 trillion dollar market cap.
Microsoft make free money from inefficient enterprise too lazy to move off old versions of Windows. Long-term support agreements are extortionate. Chuck in Office 365 Enterprise and Education licenses and Azure and you'd have to be a right moron to cause Microsoft to fail. There's nothing amazing about Nadella's leadership.
sorry linux bro but in the enterprise the reason msft is still winning is no one wants to deal you people
Yes Microsoft is winning so much that's why they have to support linux containers and had to make .net core run in linux which is the standard for microservices.
hyper-v and wsl2 means users don't have to use virtualbox/vmware and stay in the microsoft ecosystem so you aren't proving the point you think
>talking about virtualization when I'm talking about containerization and orchestration
moronic pajeet
i accept your concession since you said linux containers (wsl2) and talked about .net running crossplatform which was smart to make the jvm a legacy technology for most.
but yes you were talking about orchestration you homosexual
Microsoft is using freetards without spending a dime, they literally turned Linux into a Windows app. Other companies do the same, you fell for a shit ideology and got used.
It's OVER.
Snoy won!
>Overpriced dehumidifier
>Paid online
>Full priced games that take an eternity to release and when they release they're mediocre as frick
That isn't winning.
all that, and xbox still couldn't beat em.
Xbox killed it self by sheer incompetence and Sony is not far off from doing the same
Sony and Nintendo will be around for a long time
Well, when the competition also sells overpriced dehumidifiers with paid online and only gets full priced games that take an eternity to release and when they release they're mediocre as frick, but then the competition drops out, they do kinda win.
Snoy ballbusted Microsoft so hard
>sony won when they are on verge of bankruptcy
holy shit it's beyond over
Normalgays stopped giving a shit about xbox after they started naming their consoles "xbox s series one x" since no one knew which one was the newest
I want to play original Fable trilogy ln my ps5. Will it ever be possible?
I want Forza Horizon 2
Why? 5 is better
zoom zoom
Damn snoys are desperate huh?
They already did that back in October tho
Your post got ignored as expected.
Not on these pages.
yeah the xbox brand is officially dead we know already. for every xbox they sell, sony sells 9 ps5s and pc sells 20 nvidia gpus.
I wonder if Microsoft will invest in GPUs, even Apple has their own designs now. They are investing heavily in AI so it would be smart to not rely on Nvidia
They are making their own AI accelerators. The leaked Xbox shit had mentions of using an AI coprocessor for the next Xbox and Windows PCs to speed up misc tasks and do stuff like machine learning upscaling similar to DLSS.
my theory is that the next xbox will be a regular xbox but with the added twist of it also benefitting from cloud computing, thereby making the xbox as fast as a two thousand dollar pc and more. maybe that's what they intend to do right now with the current xbox, actually, who knows?
>inb4 they're just rebranding the Xbox to some shit like WindowsBox.
introducing the "X1"
Wait that fable game was not a joke?
apparently not
>from it's site
Incompetent journalism, opinion disregarded. Proofread your shit before you post it.
ESL here. What is wrong with sentence?
Nothing, the site belongs to xbox
Nothing "it's" is used either as "it is" or when referring to something in the possessive. That anon is unaware of the second usage.
"it's" is not the possesive form, you don't write her's do you. Finish high school Black person.
I'm no English major, but the possessive is written like a contraction of "it" and "is" because of the apostrophe placement
It's = it is
Its = possessive
Americans get this wrong all the time for some reason.
>Americans
The direct instructions on correct grammar from the Australian government saying youre a fricking moron.
https://www.stylemanual.gov.au/grammar-punctuation-and-conventions/punctuation/apostrophes
Read the subsection titled "Possessive pronouns don’t need an apostrophe" you subliterate moron
What a fricking turbo moron you are, mi amigo.
>youre
Subtle.
>Anglos don't know the difference between a possessive and a contraction.
These are the morons making fun of ESLs btw
I wouldn't be surprised if a statistically significant amount of the people I call ESL morons are monolingual Australians
stupid bogan
>Australian education

Damn that's a fricking embarrassing post. How are you coping?
>Australian
Oh, so chink immigrant. Opinion uploaded to your local chinese overlord Woo Meow and enjoy having your social credits stolen.
Who cares about jibberish prison slang?!
Let me guess, you can't tell "they're" and "their" apart either.
What the frick
It's is possessive.
Are you dumb?
>American education
>Australian education
I made the same mistake, but you can't use it's as possessive because it's is a contraction for it is.
tbf they're americans. they often misuse their and they're as well as loose and lose, its almost endemic to their nation.
21% of adults in America are illiterate, and 54% have a literacy level below that of a sixth-grader
we're genuinely a nation of morons
Coincidentally 50% of your population is non-white
That would include you, as you don't have blonde hair and blue eyes
I have blue eyes and blonde mustache hairs am I white?
half of the people in america are Black folk and indians and other natives of all kinds. it makes sense, if you think about it.
An awful lot of people are hearing most words for the first time instead of reading them because they don't fricking read shit that isn't communication with other morons online like this post here.
My English teacher got this wrong too. I only knew about it because I read about the issue online before.
>Americans get this wrong all the time for some reason.
It's a reasonable assumption to be fair. Every other word uses 's at the end for possession, it's just that "it" is different because it can also be short for it is.
English such a broken meme language that not even its native speakers can speak it properly. Truly a sight to behold.
Adding apostrophe S to any other noun makes it possessive. Why not "it"?
Because it's a contraction. Because English is a mess with more exceptions than rules.
It's is short for it is, so like "we need bread, it is at the store"
Its is referring to something someone owns, so like "that? its Bob's bread, don't eat that."
Kek, so close to not being moronic. "Its Bob's bread" is still wrong.
>from it is site
vs
>from its site
>xbox brand is third
>typically seen as a laughing stock
>microsoft finally killing it
It’s like the opposite of Twitter becoming X.
We are witnessing Microsoft go third party.
It is absolutely over.
Apple has been trying to get into gaming, but dunno if they would go as far as making a console.
Consoles are done. Playstation is next and Nintendo will probably be the last. Everything will consolidate to PCs and phones. Nutella knows this.
How the frick does a cocoa spread company know this?
No one is going to fill the voice if that happens. The only reason Microsoft lasted as long as it did is because they can throw infinite money at it and actually had people at first committed to it. Practically no other company has that kind of drive or even wants to realistically.
this is literally green genocide
I'm shaking and crying rn
Their hardware is failing so obviously it makes sense to stop that and just keep doing games.
https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/fable
Just scroll down.
literally who the frick cares about xbox consoles???
Snoys who need something to feel superior about
The fact that nobody cares is why this situation is the way it is
Frick. All they had to do was make good Halo games. That was all they had to do. GOD DAMN IT
Meltdown is already happening, people pretending that Microsoft made a mistake.
did they really need to destroy bethesda too on their way out
Well, who's gonna take over Sega 2's spot? Or are people just content with it being a duopoly?
It was always a duopoly, Xbox just came and went.
Well frick, should've added it to the list then.
How can you have a monopoly in a business where you sell a product at a loss
If it's anything it will be samsung
That would be fun actually. They'd probably do something interesting to integrate with their phones/TVs as well.
They seem interested.
https://www.cgmagonline.com/news/ces-2024-samsung-partner-program/
>samgshit
lol
If It's ANYTHING it will be APPLE you fricking moron, no fricking one cares about a brand that sells shitty TVs and garbage phones with ads on the screen lmfao
The only brand worse than Samgshit is LG
Apple+Sega will literally shit on anyone if it happens.
The only way Samsung will ever get into the market is if Apple puts out a successful console first for them to copy.
A console battle between soi appletards npcs and tendies will be glorious.
no one cares about microshart, i don't know how can they still make money, maybe from thin air aka "taxpayers" because microshart is horrible even on cloud services
What do you expect from stupid fricking Americans who started saying they have 'preferred pronouns'
Which would cease to make them pronouns and actually turn them into nouns because they refer to people.
expect a new wave of indian shills in a few months when microshit finally decide to double down on the cloud shit they're working on
the main focus of these shills will be to sway opinion on owning powerful hardware/PCs
They've removed the Xbox Series X/S branding from the main page too in the last few days.
Sony without Microsoft is like Joker without Batman
lel sony is not innocent. they have done plenty of evil shit. they have the blood of countless victims on their hands. not totally innocent victims, mayhaps, but still..
he called sony joker moron
Looking through archives and searching for that Xbox Series X/S logo that was present...
It's gone. They've removed all references. It's been replaced by Console.
It's over. SEGA path.
So what was the fricking point of Microsoft wasting all that money buying studios and doing nothing with them?
So they would still be relevant in the gaming market. They control all these studios now.
They will be publishing games and keeping Game Pass. This is literally just a hardware thing. They're going third party.
Did you read the leaked emails? Phil is not a smart man.
I've heard horror stories from ex employees. They're not rare, there's thousands of them.
To sell those games without having to worry for a platform aka console war, stupid Black person homosexual.
theyre bringing goomerpass to snoystation and shitendo
They aren't, Sony/Nintendo would never allow competition inside their walled garden.
they already allow EA pass
Adding value to game pass. If they just fricked off, no one would publish shit on gamepass because it would be just another service.
What 360 game even had Microtransactions besides Gears 3 and the Mass Effect multiplayer?
Microsoft did it before anyone else with Kameo:
https://marketplace.xbox.com/en-US/Product/Winter-Warrior-Pack/00000000-0000-4000-8000-000b4d5307d2
Oblivion's horse armor was also Microsoft's idea, which is why the PS3 version didn't have it.
Kinect killed them
>terrible hardware issues, which is the reason PS3 eventually overtook it.
nah, the PS3 also had terrible hardware issues. but Microsoft apologized and threw a billion dollars at the problem, while Sony bowed silently for a minute and that was it.
That's it.
But 360 shat the bed since Kinect.
>PS3 eventually overtook 360, because Microsoft stopped making 360.
It happened before they stopped making it. 360 production ended in 2016, PS3 overtook it in 2013.
You prefer the Sony way:?
apparently just to hurt playstation's business. if they wanted games for xbox, $69 billion is enough to fund 200-400 of the biggest AAA titles ever.
Their management is much too weak to handle Bethesda properly, nevermind Activision which has been a mess for years
I think Microsoft tried to give one more chance to the Xbox division, to see if exclusive games on console would greatly increase their sales, but seeing what happened with RedFall and Starfield, compared to Deathloop and Ghostwire Tokyo in their competition, Microsoft preferred to continue with their original idea of bringing Game Pass to every possible platform, but for that they had to take their games to the competition and get rid of the "Xbox" brand to be sold as a game subscription, just as with EA Play
Only they got fricked over by the end because they kept the system alive until MS could jump ship.
why would snoy let gamepass on playstation, what's in it for them?
Microsoft has never posted the profits generated from game pass
It was Phil's last chance to save the brand and he blew it.
It was a lost cause as soon as they conceded cod exclusivity.
>spend whole year getting through all the paperwork to buy Activision
>has only been ~6 months since things have settled
>Xbox hasn't magically sold 100M more systems yet or even had a chance to influence a single Actiblizz game
>"Hurr what the frick why isn't Xbox suddenly super duper rich?!
I expect they’ll probably shed some studios are shut them down.
>spend a gorillion dollars on a game over a decade
>release it as complimentary on a service that costs a fraction of the game's price
>It was probably Starfield
Source? your gaping samegay anus
calm down xbottom, it's safe to say starfield didn't help his cause given what a massive flop it was
Are you a grown adult or are you a child?
>starfield killed xbox because Ganker doesn't like it and spammed bad reviews
ok kid
>awful ratings by critics and users
>could even beat Fallout 4 numbers
>but muh Ganker
Get real bro, this game flopped hard. They thought it was gonna be another Skyrim but it was a massive disappointment. No amount of shifting the numbers with gamepass will change reality.
>reviewbombs are real reviews guys
>MUH NUMBERS
Typical Gankeredditor. You don't play games. You only look at numbers.
>review bomb by people with hundreds of ours
again, get real
game's shit
>has to hide positive reviews
>shows off zero effort reviews comprised of memes and redditposts
It's showing that negative reviews aren't review bombs, much less refunds. If you want to check for positives, go ahead, the game is sitting on a mixed rating right now so it might be hard to find one lmao
>massively over pay for activision due to covid boosted economy
>deal closes a couple of years later in post covid shitty economy
>literally the only way to recoup the 70 BILLION DOLLAR "investment" is by releasing games on every platform available
lol phil spenser is such an idiot
this wouldn't happen if he didn't push the upper management into this shitty deal
You have no actual tangible knowledge on anything so you incessant spam is ridiculous
they want to own a bunch of ips for streaming on mobile and to push you to use the ms store
They can still publish games, just leave the console business. In a way, this may end up being more profitable for them because they don't have to give a shit about hardware and port the games to any system they want.
This would piss off the Xbox diehards but honestly might work out better for them in the long run
>Microsoft gives up making $5-7 billion a year with the console to make 500 million to $2 billion a year as just a publisher
Most business-orientated snoy
rich people are not very smart
dont listen to anyone who tells you you have to be smart to be rich
99.9% of rich people were either born rich or just got lucky one time and coasted off that their whole lives
they didnt get to those high positions because of their talents
it's not hard to make money when you already have a lot of money, yet these people still manage to waste billions all the time
>dont listen to anyone who tells you you have to be smart to be rich
haha. poorgays don't understand business, Xbox made a bad business decision and thought global economic will recover as before covid especially for china (which is misled by other investors), but things has changed: Chinese consumption will never back and US is already in consumer recession while interest rate is still high. Sell something at loss isn't viable strategy anymore. Sony can get money back from 3rd party revenue for PS5 while MS cannot because everything is in xgp. I am glad MS CEO has reasonable IQ to understand they should cut off these unprofitable business.
>Being THIS low IQ
They wanted Candy Crush and a trojan horse back into the phone market which they got pushed out of in the late 2000's with the emergence of Android and Iphone devices (they were responsible for a 40% portion of OS sales of phone devices).
Making money from them? It was never about exclusivity
Phil literally pulled the I HAVE A PLAN with MS execs and now they found out he's been bulshitting.
So that Sony wouldn't have them.
>That was when they threw in the towel.
Sony's cutting production too
i mean, it stillsays console, soo..?
moron
Trannisoft really imploded itself, huh.
>OH MY GOD, THEY CHANGED THE POSITION OF "GAME PASS" AND NOW IT SAYS CONSOLE INSTEAD OF SERIES X/S, MS IT'S DOOMEEEEEED THIS TIME FOR SURE GUYS!
You are more moronic than twitter.
Yep, it's a really really bad sign when a company phases out it's current hardware offering brand name.
>it's site
ESL here. It's its, its site, not it's. Learn the difference ffs.
Wait... what are we going to console war about now that xbox is dead?
>Xbox kills itself
>possible Sony handheld on the way
You already know.
Xbox brand is over because of Elon Musks X.com website.
>elon kills xbox
buying a tesla now
So what's the new name? Microbox? Softbox? microconsole? softstation?
>So what's the new name?
Funbox
hard-box, maybe?
Microsoft Palstation
You forgot 'quietly removing'
>Starfailed flopped so hard it killed the entire Xbox console
66538687
Keep saying the to yourself.
lol
lmao
Yeah, that is counting all the existing goypass subscribers. Keep coping, it killed a console that lived for like 4 generations now.
>Players
that's really low.
Enough to kill Sony games.
Not to defend those woketard walking simulators, but at least all of those were actual purchases. Bethesda is counting gamepass subs and probably torrent downloads in their "player" count.
I guess there's gamepass on steam too.
Returnal is actually good, I'm surprised at how little people are/were playing it.
It's literally just the mc design for most people. A shame.
It literally is. If the MC was faceless or a mildly cute woman I would've played it ages ago.
I feel like even just giving her long hair would have saved it.
Because of the middle-aged woman MC.
Sad, but that's the truth. Returnal with some big titty waifu probably would've sold better.
idc about sony but you are comparing a day one release with rerelease of years old games.
Xbox fans are the saddest in gaming I swear.
>Only 25k out of 6mil on steam
So all the Starshit shills were actually Xtroons all along? Lmao I frickin knew it. Get bent 30fps series s pajeets lmfao
What starfield shills? the only threads that ever got made on Ganker were by one guy relentlessly shitting on the game
>When defeated play dumb
Anon, show some dignity
You must be joking, holy shit, this place was flooded with moronic Xbox fanboys
Yes just like this place was flooded with starfield fans when you made all the starfield threads, remember that eric?
is "eric" the reason you get zero b***hes too?
Eric spams threads for a topic, then references the threads that he made as proof of his claims. You know that, eric. The same reason why he's spamming this thread but posting no sources, because in the next thread he (You) will use this thread as a reference, as justification for your continued spam. Because "so many people agreed with you last thread", but it was actually just you samegayging.
It's very pathetic
wow what a creative narrative you have created there sis
It wouldn't be so obvious eric if your vocabulary consisted of more than 20 words
Imagine getting dabbed on by an imaginary person and having it waste all of your time lmao
I've bee watching tucker carlson interview putin for two hours and derailing your stupid flame war thread on the side eric. It's not exactly difficult
You don't need to announce you're mentally disabled, it's already very obvious
Very good eric, I'm proud of you.
Did daddy Tuck give message you saying that he'll protect you from Eric?
>eric's being homoerotic again
uh oh
>instantly thinks of gay sex
you are moronic
I don't normally call other men "daddy" eric, kind of weird.
Yeah SF killed the TES fanbase overnight. You can't wait that long and release soulless wokefest and expect to keep people's series loyalty.
DD2 will drive them the rest of the way into their deserved grave.
>starfield killed elder scroll
dude just have a nice day
Cope in anger, it's over.
You going to wait another 5-6 years for TES6 that will be just as antiseptic? Nothing I can say to you worse than you'll do to yourself then.
How about you suck the shit out of my ass and then have a nice day samegay
the writing is on the wall
It's been over a dozen years since Skyrim came out. By the time the sequel to TES comes out in 4-6 years, the gap will be an entire generation who was born after the fact.
>players
If Xbox kills the brand then Sony will be running solo and every snoygay is going to end up realizing how shit that'll be for them, Nintendo owns their share of the market and despite a massive jump in the past decade most normalgays are morons and absolutely refuse to dip their toes seriously into the electronic lego simulator that is getting a PC so Sony will end up likely dominating the "next gen" space and all the shit like price increases and digital licenses are gonna get worse and worse because where the frick is everyone else gonna go, the Switch 2??
>If Xbox kills the brand then Sony will be running solo
Nintendo and Valve still exist.
The xbox brand itself is a curse
Good news for the consumer. Consoles that are just PC light should not have exclusives. Nintendo get a pass since they are the only handheld.
White men just can't run companies
?feature=shared
What is funny about xbox maybe leaving the console market?
>(English dub)
Death Note has one of the best English dubs though
Considering this liked tweet from Phil, I'm fairly certain Gamepass isn't going anywhere. It's also not going to be renamed to "Microsoft Gamepass".
Forgot to link the tweet.
I don't understand why they'd spend 70 billion dollars for Activision Blizzard only to kill off their gaming division
They're not killing it. They're bowing out of the console race and becoming strictly a publisher and developer much like sega did.
Rare replay on switch when
that would be fricking kino, conker on the switch
imagine a new viva pinata on the switch 2
damn a man can dream
>Go to xbox site
>scrolls down
>still says xbox
>still says series x/s
Why are you not playing Helldivers 2 and foamstars, uh?
I unironically feel bad for xbros
I don't. They've had 11 years to realize where Xbox was going with this management.
You are now aware that they didn't lose to Sony, they lost to Steam.
Wouldn't have figured a megacorp like MS could lose to Sony like this
They're a giant company, they have had plenty of failed projects and ventures.
No wonder the Sony board sent Jim packing.
holy kek, the goalpost moving lmao, we need a better script tendies
>Eric still seething even after the Famitsu thread
Meds
Microsoft loves walled gardens. There's already talk of Windows 12 being entirely cloud-based with a subscription fee. You will own nothing and have no control over your computer anymore.
>Microsoft loves walled gardens
They were one of the biggest contributors to Tim Epic's lol-suit against Apple. Their CEO has repeatedly said they want Walled Gardens gone.
We finally going back to Sony VS Nintendo.
It's going to be hilarious.
>Implying Sony has any chance against Nintendo
yep, Nintendo is selling to woman and old people as well. Sony can't compete with that.
no sure that something to be proud off
UNDEFEATED
I think both of them are comfortable in their own markets, they aren't fighting over the same playerbase anymore.
Avowed on PS5 and switch confirmed. Even if it was rebranded they would just switch the branding, not remove it from consoles.
souless microsoft NPCs are killing the xbox brand because they think they can grow game pass under the microsoft name and going 3rd party.
this is a huge miscalculation and they are going to alienate their core user base. I doubt there will be much point to owning xbox hardware.
I'm pissed off at this news, i've been team xbox for 20 years. I honestly hate microsoft and their shit products. I will start moving away from them now.
Microsoft really shouldn't have been trying to separate Xbox from Windows to begin with. This was a long time coming.
easy enough for them to mend the schism, xbox games are just directx 12 uwp apps
This is the perfect way to attack racist, antisemitic and transphobic gamers. Take away their identity and oppress them more!
Every single fricking market M$ tried to get into, they absolutely epic failed
Phones, consoles, media, hardware, web, servers, portable players, cloud...
And they are failing at the OS marketshare lately.
I wish you fricking fail, you bought 60% of good old and new IPs and studios and you did fricking nothing.
holy shit guys a microsoft just flew over my house
Phil had 10 years and a gazillion dollars, Mattick was bad, for Phil fricked up much harder
I mean, I think it's like which one won the Special Olympics. Nobody's saying either did a good job here.
How is it cope? Mattrick didn't blow trillions on studios that immediately stopped making games. Phil's "great games don't matter" excuse is at least as bad as Mattrick's "you can buy a 360" after Phil spent the past decade touting "more than hype, we're bringing games," "greatest game lineup in Xbox history," and released frick all to show for it.
please stop posting any time schizo, you're barely coherent
>"This idea that if we just focused more on great games on our console, that somehow we're going to win the console race, I think doesn't relate to the reality of most people."
>Phil Spencer is an American business executive and the CEO of Microsoft Gaming.
Took 11 years for this to happen.
https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2020/11/spencer-microsoft-almost-abandoned-xbox-brand-after-the-xbox-one-launch/
Cancelled Xbox games.
Retailers are removing Xbox games.
>cancelled
did you bother to read the tweet?
And if nobody's getting Xbox well...
>microsoft is going to fail
you couldn't prove this yesterday
Wow great idea Phil this week long wait really is worth all this speculation and website changes just putting the writing on the wall
>writing on the wall
>writing is on the wall
Why didn't Phil Spencer the man at the top of the food chain in MSFT Gaming say "We strongly deny these rumors". That's all he had to do. From a PR perspective he poured gasoline on the fire of the Xbox brand then walked back inside his house.
I bet the "writing is on the wall" isn't it
QRD on this mindbroken Xbox fanatic?
The writing is on the wall don't you know
i mean by looking at these it shows that micorsoft was planning to do this for awhile, their marketing just sucks
and i don't believe they'll go third party tbh, it's all unsubstantiated until they actually come out and say it
Because some aspect of the rumors are likely true. If he said "none of these are true" and then they do the conference and it turns out they are true, that would just be a bigger disaster than the Xbox One reveal proving the rumored stuff about it was going to happen
PC is just a custom Xbox
MS has zero control over PC gaming thanks to linux.
A system seller would save them though, that's how every console has been successful.
It's not that simple anymore. Phil was kinda right. Even if they made an amazing game, we are now in era of accounts and digital libraries. People amassed shitton of titles they won't just drop for a single game on XBOX.
Well the idea would be to have multiple system sellers.
>Redfall
>Starfield
I'm amazed that Phil hasn't been outright fired yet for getting Microsoft stuck with that albatross.
see:
Candy Crush is the one silver lining, but it's still not enough to justify the deal as a whole.
>how Xbox would turn it around for real this time if they just spent another $75 billion.
Because the Switch filled a market niche. It's the most popular game console ever in Japan for a reason.
It's just another excuse. Phil is great at making excuses, not so much at anything else.
Philled with excuses but empty of games 🙁
The Switch has games.
ff the moron had not cancelled scalebound it would've helped xone sales
alot of people were actually hyped for that game
mattrick would've never cancelled it
their plan is "selling" games at lower price to gain markets share.
>Buys 2 of the biggest game conglomerates
>Collapses
Well played Phil. Sony always wins baby
Don't have to buy an Xbox console to play Rare Replay with Xbox console brand becoming a third party. Nice. Get to work on that port for Switch and PS5.
Guys a wall with writing on it just flew over microsoft
STANDING
ON THE EDGE
OF THE CRATER
Is Nutella going to keep Phil around?
Someone has to take the fall for this mesd
Is Candy crush a future proof investment?
CoD has been around forever but mobage trash just comes and goes like the wind
Should I just buy a PS5 then ? i dont want to build a PC
Who fricking cares? You'll still be in a slave plantation.
>Microsoft was still selling Series X/S at a loss back in 2022
>Sony started making profits 9 months after launch even with all the supply chain and scalper frickery during the pandemic
>Microsoft sold less consoles last year and even reduced the Series X to $350 during December and it still didn't make a dent
>They're also below sales compared to Xbox One at this point in time
>people still keep bringing up Don Mattrick and the Xbox One as the only reasons why Xbox is flailing as a brand now despite it being a month away from being 10 years of Phil Spencer leading the brand
Even if the full multi-platform rumour ends up not being true, it's still fascinating watching Xbox try and keep their heads above the water with trying to carve out their own niche like Nintendo did after the failure of the Wii U and still managing to frick that up.
>I don't understand anything and here's my hot take
what a high quality thread
Thank you for your ringing endorsement, I look forward to your contribution to the discussioin too.
I look forward to you jumping out of a 4th story window
If you're gonna tell me to kill myself at least come up with something more exciting.
I don't want you to have a nice day, I want you to be permanently crippled
Do you mean physically, or mentally like you are?
>>Sony started making profits 9 months after launch even with all the supply chain and scalper frickery during the pandemic
Because the scalpers bought up all that stock. Did you think the scalpers got their shit for free? moron
Source for sony making profit on their consoles?
oh there is none
Don't reply to me. Reply to the moegay who made the claim in the first place. If it's even true, scalpers buying up literally all the stock for sale would account for it.
It's not true because every console is sold at a loss, that why only moronic major tech companies make them
>lived long enough to witness the birth of xbox and the death of xbox
I haven't played xbox since the 360 era but still...
I don't feel too good...
>death of xbox
source you moronic Black person?
Aside from some controllers I've purchased for my PC I've never given Xbox a single cent, and I still don't want them to go third party party because I just fricking know Sony is gonna phone it in even harder than they already are without any competition.
Regardless of which side you're on, competition benefits you because you get a better product as a result.
There's not a single source for microsoft going third party
I honestly hope you're right, because Phil not denying it as the Xbox community was foaming at the mouth is worrying.
It's literally a twitter rumor, these threads are just one apsie spamming fake rumors
On the contrary, I think Phil Spencer isn’t dumb and is actually being quite realistic given the situation, that’s not to say Xbox isn’t fricked though. I imagine this was coming one way or another and he wanted to go out with a bang.
>Xbox is fricked though
source you moronic Black person?
Reminder that the israeli CEO has more in common with the average israelite than with a white CEO.
Very insightful
CEO of MS is a Pajeet
Oh yeah?
Thanks for the random tidbit autist
Microsoft going third party is all but confirmed TBQH. Sell while your console has value, what they're doing was exactly like Dreamcast dying.
What I find funny and bizarre about this whole shitshow is that Spencer or Sarah or one of these homosexuals hasn't come out to make a public response
Only Phil with the most corporate and soulless response: "We're hearing you but we're gonna tell you next week :)"
because they have no say in this, it is Microsoft's decision not Xbox's
It's not that bizarre
If it was up to Phil Spencer he would have denied the leaks the moment they came out.
I believe MS porting their games to Playstation is most likely an order from the higher ups @ MS that absolutely hate how much money they spent on the gaming division and have been wanting to get the frick out for quite a while
It’d probably be a lie even if Phil came out and said Xbox is alive and well. Sega lied about the death of Dreamcast being false the week leading up to its death announcement. Nintendo also lied about the Wii U dying until December 2016.
>the internet
>oh no! Xbox is dying
>Reality
>MS might be getting gamepass on the competing consoles
>you gays think this is a loss
MS just strong armed their money making service on sony and nintendo.
Reminder that MS is a service provider.
Sony and Nintendo literally will never accept Goypass on their consoles
Reminder that Xbox is a console business and it has lost every generation and lost the one right now with few exclusives. GamePass is also not growing and it will not be allowed on Nintendo or Sony. Their Xbox Series console is selling less than their Xbox One, they are porting their exclusives, their rent service is stalled. You're a moron.
>Xbox is a console business
>console war homosexualry
Xbox never lost, it was dead people and illegals buying PS5s, all will come out in 2 weeks
If game pricing worked that way Switch games would already be $100
What xbox games can run on the switch?
Ori 1 and 2
Do you really believe Sony and Nintendo would allow this on their platform?
>MS might be getting gamepass on the competing consoles
Why would any of the consoles do this?
https://www.xbox.com/en-US/games/fable
>scroll down
A thread died for this
The only reason I still play on my xbox is because of the Microsoft reward system. I can get pretty much every multiplat I want for 25$ off minimum. Sometimes 50$ off if it's a slow year.
XBoooone
We can only truly hope. Next we can only hope Sony takes a major gut punch within the next half decade so they can stop being moronic and start making games instead of "cinematic experiences" and capeshit.
Ganker here: you didn't hear it from me, but MS is about to release off the shelf PCs, some of which will be basically be Xboxes. It will all just be Windows gaming.
Why are Gankertards always twitter brainlets?
Eric's mentally ill and obsessed with drama. He feeds off of this stuff. There's zero evidence for any of his claims, but since xbox is in the media he thinks it validates his samegay spam
Xbox could be spun off as its own company. They'll get one last cash infusion, and then that's it. They won't be able to do GamePass like they have been and they'll need games. Either they turn a profit or they die.
Why the frick did they buy activision holy shit.
Microsoft is getting worse.
Ganker is wrong as always. You morons were screaming from the rooftops that ABK was the end of Sony, yet they're stronger than ever now
>It's been 22 years since a company left the console market
>We're going to witness it in less than a week
Never thought it would happen again
>do nothing
>win
>on verge of bankruptcy
>win win win win win win
Ah yes just like how ''Blizzard'' won.
sure thing xister
>Completely dunks on the industry by making a console with actual useable hardware and online implementation.
>Releases a new console that kills the PS3 in performance to the point late life games like Destiny ran at locked 60 fps on the 360 but at 20 fps on the PS3.
>The Xbox One gets every AAA and indie game on it along its lifetime meanwhile Sony only has exclusives which everyone just watches on Youtube anyway
>Xbox Series X outdoes PS5 performance and has a much wider library right into the start of its lifetime.
>Introduces a service to have almost every single game released for PC and Console for a price less than a youtube membership
>Now is so big and successful they don't even have to be constrained by the Xbox brand and they can just merge into the marketing and economy of the brand that LITERALLY controls the entire computer ecosystem on a global scale.
Microsoft literally ate the entire industry up and is now gonna have an unchecked monopoly on it and Ganker is still talking about Sony exclusives.
good morning sars
lay off the copium
did they finally realize how terrible the "sexbox" name is lol
the branding singlehandedly killed the concept since day one
Sorry PlayStation bros, but it's over
They're not bringing Starfield to our PlayStation, only Hi Fi Rush and Sea of Thieves, the dream is over
>they're still bringing first party games to the switch and ps5
>somehow this is good
lmao
Can you tell us how it's not eric? You've been samegayging for 10 hours now, you must be very informed
There's a word for people who see people and patterns that aren't there.
Well if you've posted here for more than a week you would know this is an eric thread
The most evident factor is the incessant samegay spam in agreeance with the OP (a twitter screenshot) with no actual discussion or sources being posted
take your medication and see if you come to that same conclusion again moron
There's no proof they wouldn't just be walking it back like they did with always online and killing used games. Which they are currently doing and just took a detour to get there.
Why did they buy Activision again?
The whole reason Stadia failed was Google wanted to work with publishers, and was willing to let them sell games on a streaming platform.
Microsoft on the other hand bought the whole publisher, so they could force them over to a games as a service subscription model.
It isn't just Xbox. Microsoft is planning to get out of the home platform market entirely. They're shifting to being a services company.
Even Windows itself may be going away. Their next big thing will be win32 compatibility environments as a service.
>microsoft EEE'ing their own console brand
>PC gaming is more popular than ever
>Microsoft contributed nothing
pretty ironic
Have you forgotten about Windows, Visual Studio and fricking DirectX, DirectAudio etc? The things that actually made it possible to make games?
Sorry, but the person who built a house frame cannot claim credit from the person who did the wiring
The mental gymnastics of a flame war spammer is infinite. If they say microsoft isn't possible microsoft isn't profitable, if they bump a thread for 10 hours saying that the mods don't remove it. This board is a joke
>DirectX, DirectAudio
If only there weren't cross platform alternatives like OpenGL, OpenAL or Vulkan.
>The things that actually made it possible to make games?
None of the Microsoft proprietary crap you mentioned 'made it possible to make games'.
They encouraged bad habits, and single-platform thinking, that made game dev more difficult.
Microsoft bending the knee to Steam has been hilarious to watch
But valve is literally ex-microsoft.
Gabe literally used to work there for quite some time.
This could potentially be considered weird fricking collusion nowadays.
>used to work there
he was the cofounder numbnuts
>This could potentially be considered weird fricking collusion nowadays.
Gabe has been trying to get developers off Windows for years. What the hell do you think Proton is for?
Anon, Steam is afraid of Microsoft because they can end their whole business overnight by abusing their store shit and DirectX APIs. Why do you think they invest so much money on Linux gaming?
so THATS why they bought bethesda/blizzard/activision, they're dipping out of the console market and just becoming publishers for games.
They better not frick with my game pass. Especially after announcing hauntii would release in it
It's Xbover
So what's stopping Sony and Nintendo from just saying no?
Microsoft's future plans are to put game pass on everything and they've made it no secret they want game pass to basically parasite other platforms and leech them 30% of revenues. What if the other platforms just all block Microsoft and don't allow them on
Which one will be gone first?
>XBOX
>JOE BIDEN
You only have until 5PM EST to decide.
Xbox since Sleepy Joe is gonna die soon anyways.
Xbox isn’t dying.
We know. It's already dead.
not sure why people don't realize this. gp has less subs than ps+ and nso, is selling less than the xbone did at this point, and only went up 3% yoy for december after selling the series x at $350(with a free game) and the series s under $200. it was cheaper than the switch but got outsold by the switch.
xbox is already dead and irrelevant.
lmao why the batteries?
Xbox controllers still use AA batteries
So they are doing the stream tomorrow? it's over. Ganker will be a shitshow when it happens.
And this is coming from someone who generally likes Xbox and would like to see them turn it around.
wow it's almost like there's an anti microsoft anti american spin in the gaming media for years
Or maybe, just maybe, MS and America has been shit for the last 20 years?
>all console companies are shit
>media focusses on microsoft
>soft brained Black person: wow microsoft is in the news a lot, they must be bad
stick to youtube comments you troglodyte
