We never had so many and so varied good games per year before the indies started saving the industry circa 2014/5.
No matter what kind of game you like you have AT LEAST 1-3 releases every year, and if you like common genres/ settings you'll literally get dozens of interesting releases.

AA and indie studios that can afford to be niche/experimental are popping off.
