I love underwater levels, but i hate auto scroller levels, even if it's easy.
Underwater levels are pretty much slow space levels with blue filter and usually chill music.
>mine cart level
yes >autoscroller
no >underwater
theoretically I'd be fine with an underwater level if the controls and movement speed were good, but no game has ever accomplished this.
I don't really enjoy the underwater levels in SMB1 or 3 (unless it's with Frog Suit), but I think they nailed the controls in SMW, I enjoy those a lot.
Minecart and auto-scrollers can be a good challenge, but once you know the level by memory they can get boring. The shmup genre is basically 99.99% auto-scrollers though so I can't hate the concept.
That section at the start of the ice level in SMB2 where once you're up to speed you just glide along dodging the enemies flying at different heights is great
Going through the Mega Man series made me appreciate auto scroller levels, though the funny thing is I didn’t actually like them till MM11, then suddenly they just “clicked” with me and I enjoy them a lot more now.
Underwater, autoscrolling mine cart level when?
You forgot the escort mission with bomb defusal.
Not retro but Sonic Lost World pulled it off well
Sounds like holocaust journal.
Don't forget the masturbation machine, add that and you got a Saturn/PCE game
Kek. Wonder if there is a Rollercoaster Tycoon mod that would allow for such a scenario.
Six centimeters of wood up my ass!
yes. underwater levels are inertia kino. you need to go back
>slowed down gameplay is good!
no

I like the mine carts but I hate underwater levels. Have never enjoyed them dating all the way back to SMB1

>moving through a dark as frick cave on a sketchy minecart
KINO
This shit is so fun, how could anybody hate this
I wonder if there's a way you could make an obstacle course like this in real life
The biggest flaw of DKC and DKC2 is there aren't enough mine cart levels. The music in those games is the best.
>underwater level makes you slower
>water level is LE BAD, am i right fellow redditors? give me upvotes
>ice level
>floor is slippery
>icy surface leads to fast platforming where your momentum takes you along
That section at the start of the ice level in SMB2 where once you're up to speed you just glide along dodging the enemies flying at different heights is great
No frick all those levels. Water levels in sonic especially are fricking moronic
I can't think of a single minecart level/minigame that isn't fun
>desert levels are shit in like every game
>except for that ONE game where the desert is the coolest area in the game.
