They extracted important pieces of the original story and related details, between Cloud and Aerith, for the sole purpose of further justifying what was a secondary character. If you notice, in the OG the pivot was Aerith; in the Remake, it's Zack. All for the sole purpose of confining Aerith with Zack and taking him away from Cloud, so that only Tifa exists for him. Any CloTi comes up with this nonsense, considering the fact that, in the Remake, the main resolution scene is the one between Aerith and Cloud, which Aerith thanks Cloud and the player, even for what happened in the other game, then Aerith tells Cloud not to fall in love with her, as he would suffer like a dog (which contradicts the whole house of cards set up by the CloTis) and, in the scene itself, Cloud even gets hurt and says to her: May I say mine? Add to that the Hollow soundtrack... if the one between Aerith and Cloud had been, from the very beginning, a simple friendship, all these scenes and all this importance would never have happened and it would all be unwarranted. But you go and make them understand it for those who want the Disney ending, when the focus of the game is the unfairness of life.

Yes, hence tifa and zack are not needed at all.
Aerith and cloud would've been better.

The FF7 Compilation definitely raped FF7 to the core, ruining. The fanbase did the rest.

Try to ask them where Angeal, Genesis, Cissnei and the rest was, in the OG. They start to bring in a lot of nonsense, when the entire thing is that Crisis Core, Before Crisis, Tales of Two Pasts etc. is happening in another timeline, considering the OG (eventually, if someone want to save all this). To not mention that, considering that FF7 OG was originally intended to start and end with the game itself, like what happened with all the other titles, they inserted all the lore in the game. When they started to expand it, just to let the Fanbase see Aerith again, they started to mess up with the original plot, creating plothole more and more. The story started with Aerith as heroine and the main interest of the protagonist, as the original story was intended and messed up, with the introduction of Tifa, just to end up with Tifa that is the heroine and Aerith that is a surplus that everyone wants dead, just because otherwise the presumed Tifa and Cloud Disney-relation wouldn't come out.

      This

Aerith saving cloud from mako madness would make more sense and them she dies at the end.

Also Cloud's personality has been completely fricked up into "emo" which he never was, that was a big misconception perpetuated by the fandom that the developers then followed. In the original FF7 he's not emo at all. Advent Children started that trend.

Gotta love how you star off complsining about the Compilation then end up complaining about the of game not being the way you wished it to be.

Gotta love how you star off complsining about the Compilation

Mine was a general point, regarding how the "compilation" has completely perverted the original story, to make it go according to the cravings of the fans, who have a mindset that is in stark contrast to the basics of the original story precisely, but are more inclined toward a Disney happy ending, where the two children grow up and then get married, as happens in fairy tales.

        > then end up complaining about the of game not being the way you wished it to be.

My complaint is also dictated by the fact that, with this compilation thing, they have scattered pieces of story that are often contradictory to the original one, around various titles, creating chaos and stuffing it all with plothole (e.g., Crisis Core. Crisis Core, considering the fact that Angeal and Genesis do not exist in the original story, but they added them to us later as filler; of the fact that they took away from Cloud, to give to Zack, fact that it is even attributable to him that Tifa's bar is called Seventh Heaven; that in Last Order they twisted Sephiroth's death, showing him jumping into the reactor of his own volition, when in fact he was thrown in there by Cloud etc.). In Advent Children they even show an Aerith who has become the "mother of all the living," elevating her exaggeratedly, relative to her role, as if it were a scripted sacrifice, the one she was supposed to make, when in fact it was an act of spite by Sephiroth, both because of the danger Aerith posed to his plans, and to drive Cloud even more mad (perhaps the CloTis should be reminded of this factor, otherwise Sephiroth would have turned on Tifa, as he is doing on Rebirth).

In Before Crisis an alleged Weapon pulls down Sector 6, but in the Remake (which happened later), none of the people of Midgar put forward the hypothesis that Reactor 1 might also have exploded due to the attack of another weapon, for example. In the alternate titles, those that are central to the plot, so many details often disappear into thin air, as if they never happened. In the OG, on the other hand, it was designed to be as complete as possible, although the ending is somewhat lacking.

And where did they cover all the history inherent in the Turks? On a video game confined to a few trinkets, which practically only the most hardcore otaku probably bought, when it would have been appropriate to deal with it in a more open and official way, with a game of its own, usable by a greater amount of people.

Why people do not accept the Chapter 18 ending, in Remake? For it transformed a serious and solid story, that characterize FF7, and turned in a fantasy story like Kingdom Hearts. A fantasy non-sense. They're mad with SE about this, because is part of the skeleton that keeps FF7 grounded to earth and a more appreciable story, than the others seen in the others FF titles. With that chapter, they messed up with the very core of the FF7 philosopy.

Zack belongs to Cloud, he's being brought back to serve Cloud's narrative, just like all of the other characters, they all serve Cloud's story. It doesn't matter if you have preferences, if you wish to play as Zack instead, and even in times that you do or will be able to, it's just to serve Cloud's story.

I played FF7 at release and liked it, but I've never played a single FF7 spin-off or had any interest in them. Funny how milking a creation ruins it for some because they can't help continually buying into it.

    >they think this will be an improvement

Watch as how Aerith won't die either.

Ah, you can be sure about that. Aerith turned to be almost irrilevant and all is focalizing on Tifa, now. This is one of the reasons why they have resurrected Zack. Just to make everything happy and no one dares to untouchable relationship between Tifa and Cloud. I instead, considering the fact that, if Cloud continues to remember Sephiroth, his soul will never get assorbed in the Lifestream, I would finish the story having him killed or sacrified, together with Tifa, just to maintain the fact that this game talks about Life, Dead, Unjustice and where the Planet is more important than anything else (even life itself).

jesus, if i had this perception of the characters and their narratives ff7 would go from my favorite game to not even top 10

We don't know how it'll go down just from a damn trailer. It could very well just be that Zack and even Aerith die despite the game suggesting a chance to save them, which would ultimately tie into the narrative of fate n' shit that 'you really CAN'T change fate' since it was bound to happen regardless, shipper's bias notwithstanding.

Yes, but it would be a weak story. Why changing everything and finishing in the same way as before?

Because the carrot on the stick tactic's likely to hook people curious to keep buying the games to see what happens.

because it was the entire point. To retell the story but making sure nobody is the nerd that just says "ASHCKUALLY AERITH DIES XD"

Funny that Kitase went with this line of thinking with waving Sephi around saying "Errybody know Sephiroth! It no mystery anymoru! *raufs*." then we get pic related in the latest mobage trailer.
