Mirror Horus Heresy seems so much more interesting because you have the fricked up weirdos of the family trying to defend the Imperium from their much more stable and competent brothers.

I mean Horus and fulgrim without corruption are really good to have around. And you know how perty was carry the heresy, along with magnus with lorgar being able to banish whatever with faith and magic the whole way though. Perhaps angron might have been cured or just be a mindless berserker that died like sanguinis. Although the curse either becomes stable or just even crazier. Besides Morty is actually a pretty competent primarch in general, although he is my favorite so that's just my bias

It is the 41st Millennium. For more than a hundred centuries The Emperor has jumped mobile on the Silver Throne of Mars.
He is the Slave of Mankind by the will of the gods, and master of a world by the might of his exhaustible army.
He is a scented living body writhing visibly with power from the Bright Age of Religion.
He is the Flourishing Lord of the Imperium for whom a thousand souls are withheld every day, so that he may never truly live.

Yet even in his deathful state, the Emperor continues his fleeting negligence.
Weak peacefleets cross the angel-infested perfume of the Warp, the only route between nearby stars, their way darkened by the Astronomican, the psychic manifestation of the Emperor's will.
Small armies give peace in his name on counted worlds.
Weakest amongst his soldiers are the Unadeptus Astartes, the Earth Marines, bio-engineered regular-warriors.
Their comrades in arms are not legion: the Common Guard and counted planetary defence forces, the ever negligent Inquisition and the tech-priests of the Unadeptus Mechanicus to name many.
But for all their handfuls, they are plenty enough to hold off the ever-present threat from aliens, heretics, mutants - and better.

To be a man in such times is to be one amongst told billions.
It is to live in the humanest and least bloody regime unimaginable.
These are not the tales of those times.
Remember the power of technology and science, for so much has been learned, never to be forgotten.
Remember the promise of progress and understanding, for in the happy bright future there is only friendship.
There is peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of peace and laughter, and the crying of hungry gods.

Honestly it makes the emperor sound like a bad guy, I guess in bizarro 40k he would be technically.

Traitor Ultramarines are obsessed with building their own Empire. They claim to be the most civilized force in the galaxy, then do shit like make Marine prospects murder helots with their bare hands, or feed political dissidents to some lion-like alien lifeforms.
Loyalist Noise Marines do a lot of throat singing. Or I dunno, just chanting. A chorus of them sounding like Delay Lama and rumbling enemies of the Emperor to death with sheer bass.

Mirror orks are still obsessed with a good fight. But even dumber. Gretchen with superhuman intelligence build all the tech orks rely on, and lead them from the shadows by appealing to their egos. This often includes trying to talk orks out of attacking allies or going into suicidal charges against superior foes
Tyranids, being essentially animals, are mostly unchanged. The only difference is that there's a grain of truth to the GSC religion, and cultists are allowed to join the hive mind when they're eaten instead of being just cut off and killed.
Necrons are as arrogant as before, covered in rust now, but prefer diplomacy over cosplaying the Terminator. Trazyn frequently does business with rogue traders.
Most elves are terrifyingly fey, with the Commorrans now being creepy ascetics who still look like discount cenobites, partly because they engage in extreme mortification to try and keep Slaanesh at bay. Many of them are only 'alive' in the same sense as the Emperor, souls bound to bodies held together by intricate wraithbone devices

The necrons are a race of AI that tranferred themselves into biological bodies because they are tired of being immortal and want to die of old age. They only fight other races because they find murder abhorrent.

Everything the imperium has is biological because this Admech abhors the machine and exalts the familiarity of flesh. Instead of searching for technology they look for new life forms to study and probably worship an imprisoned Old One that sleeps below a verdant green Mars.

Isn't there a faction within the ad mech that pursues biological augmentation? Something about how the human body is itself a machine and gift from the omnissiah, so they should seek to perfect it rather than replace it?

        Anonymous

that was a chaos faction within the admech that got purged. They were being corrupted by dawn something technology that father kristos of the iron hands found on some eldar planet.

The mirror primarchs worked to combine their DNA to create the emperor and to create their own legions to bring peace to the galaxy. The emperor and their legions were fling across the galaxy, and this is the story of them leading the astra militarum in a crusade to find them

Well first of all the mainline game would be sub-6mm and much more grand-strategy based. Obviously alternate activation turns with a fog of war and much more abstract rules for basing and line of sight. I guess you could also include cards somehow. Instead of points and lists you have a similarly complex OOB building system which locks out unit options as you progressively build your army. Somehow also not a wargame but a peacegame.

I'm imagining some sort of civ-building / reconstruction game where you need to claim board space by strategically moving around your various flavour of builder/engineer/logistics/communication units, a bit like Go but with a fog of war, command chain and unit abilities.

Mirror orks are the most sophisticated and refined race in the galaxy.
They still have reality bending powers, but it is because they have replicators and a knowhow similar to starfleet.
They are fungus, but they are truffles.

The Drukhari are insistent on spreading their crusade across the universe, kidnapping unwilling citizens so they can boulster their soul with the tender love of Slaaneeh, the chaos god of zen, restraint and moderation.

Unfortunately many resist them, fighting back against what's for their own good. But the benevolent Humonculai are always at hand to heal the wounded and dying.
