>make franchise >it sucks so bad you have to sell it to someone more successful >seethe and brigade the successful devs to let you make a spin-off on their engine >brigade even harder to make it seem like everyone would prefer if you were in charge >get nuked out of continuity
lmao, looking forward to avowed i'm sure it'll be the real skyrim killer that the outer worlds was to fallout :^)
4 was a direct rebuttal of the points people praised NV of surpassing 3 in (ADS gunplay, more factions, etc)
76 was a wash, made by a backup studio but fair enough it does have the BGS name on it so the shame is todds to bare
now the real funny business comes with the outer worlds being fallout in space and todd attempting to make his own the outer worlds with less blackjack and hookers but dropping the ball completely
i can only wonder how much of the blame is microsofts for now but certainly between 76 and starflop i have minimal hope for skyrim2
While Fallout 4 fixed the gun play it did it by dropping all of the good rpg mechanics that NV introduced and even Fallout 3 had. Fallout 4 is a fun looter shooter but a fricking shit stain of a RPG. Honestly I found 76 to be more fun since it doesn't try hard to be a rpg and just accepts that its a online looter shooter.
game expects you to read the manual and understand what the frick you're doing when creating a character. you're expected to do that when you play pen and paper rpgs and the game is pretty much trying to convey that idea. if your brain is too burnt out on modern slop like the bethesda games which give you numbers on screen just so that you can go around telling people that you're a true gamer that plays true rpgs unlike pokemon (despite owning a switch), you could still try and read the description that the games gives you for stats and perks. they were even nice enough to give you little drawings and you still managed to frick it all up.
honestly, I went back and played the first two fallout games for the first time in like 20 years.
and the First fallout suffers heavily from the fact that you can tell it was the developers first ever game and that they were just a bunch of Tabletop nerds who didn't really know what they were doing.
but it had good Ideas and concepts in it, which was why fallout 2 is a better designed game in that regard, dropping things like the time limit, progression wasn't just wandering the map aimlessly until you discovered something that you could do without dieing instantly and remembering its location for future runs.
Like the first Fallout game, does not respect your time at all and expects you to have to start over from scratch multiple times each time with more map/game knowledge which is why a LOT of people/guides recommend just instantly beelining towards one of the ways to get Power armour because of just how much it helps you actually accomplish shit because if you frick around exploring or having to go back and forth to heal/resupply your gonna run out of time and have to either lose hours of progress or start over.
meanwhile the second fallout game, all you really need to know is how to make a starting build, and since there isn't a time limit you can take all the time you need to get shit done, but it still suffers mechanically from the fact it uses the first games systems as the base for its stuff
Fallout 2 is shit, though. It was a downgrade from 1 in every way. Enclave was such a shit villain and then you fight a literal who final boss at the end. Frank was just a thug.
I mean you're kind of screwing yourself over not taking gifted, you don't really see attribute scores being so important and hard to modify in many modern games, so you can easily screw yourself over by allocating them poorly. Not least because people make the story out to be such an important factor to these games that a lot of newcomers probably assume they should put points in charisma so they can maximize the amount of dialogue they can get, only to find Charisma is completely worthless. Everyone should take gifted because there's no way to know going in for the first time how many points in each attribute is a good idea. You just know there are people out there who have used agility as a dump stat and ended up hating the game as a result.
>go to first dungeon >pick up smg >one shot literally every enemy for the next ten hours of playtime
Why do people make threads like this? You're not criticising the game you're just exposing how moronic you are.
4>3>1>NV>76>2>didn't play the brotherhood of steel/tictacs ones
i really dont see why anons rate NV so highly, it had its charms sure but as a direct comparison to its contemporaries in the series its just lacking overall
enemies have 3x the HP
you do .7x damage compared to FO1
theres always like 7-8 enemies in FO2 instead of like 3-4 in FO1
You progress way slower
exploration is far less rewarding
>pick melee in Fallout 2 >it's total shit >literally just unarmed that does 2x less damage and slowly slides enemies all over the screen so you have to waste action points chasing them while getting shot by 20+ dudes
i would like a melee focused fallout game
whole armies using 200year old ammo stocks is just silly
it would be pretty great to see bosses or a whole faction consolidate power with minimal firepower simply because most wastelanders are reduced to the dark ages while still having varied factions with unique takes on melee weapons and armor (i am glossing over bows/crossbows because melee is fun damnit)
>whole armies using 200year old ammo stocks is just silly
Not in america lol, and ammo crafting is a thing. >simply because most wastelanders are reduced to the dark ages
Not realistic in a post-apocalypse, guns and technology can't just be uninvented and there are tons of resources everywhere so at worst they'd used hand-crafted improvised shit.
sure new production would be inevitable but its a hostile world of muties and backstabbing humans so you're not going to be having every junkie living in a bombed out office sleeping under a chandelier of bones be strapped up with reliable ammo
>None of the melee weapons break a set damage threshold for a long time >Most of the melee weapons cost extra ap along with the knockback problem >The "strongest" melee weapon that requires an upgrade doesn't match its unarmed equivalent >No melee checks while unarmed rakes in a ton of easy cash and stats
They really must've hated melee
Anybody else find rpgs before the 6th generation to be unplayable? >hate baldurs gate and other forgotten realms games >moderately enjoy fallout while hating the majority of fallout 2 >hate gothic >hate diablo 2 >hate gameplay of deus ex but enjoy everything else
Skip forward one console generation >love arcanum >love morrowind >love vampire bloodlines >love kotor 1 and 2
Does anyone else relate to this? With the exception of deus ex it's not just the gameplay but also the story, dialogue, and artstyle that i can't seem to enjoy. This is exclusive to wrpgs too since jrpgs have remained mostly consistent.
its mostly due to a difference in RPG Attitude
Most of the real early PC videogame RPG's such as the OG Fallouts, first Balders gate games and so on were designed by old school Tabletop RPG nerds and while they often were a extremely faithful to the systems they were inspired by, but the Devs had extremely poor clue of how to properly design videogames since they were used to tabletop settings where if something happened everyone was unhappy with, in Tabletop you can just bullshit it away.
However skip forward a generation or so of videogame RPG's and Devs have gotten better at designing RPG's in general and know what aspects of Tabletop does well in Videogame format and what doesn't
i think i just dislike isometrics. I played wasteland 3 for like 5 hours max then dropped it, felt too boring. same thing with rogue trader. Maybe they're just not for me.
i dont think it's the worst combat in the world, but it sucks that low tier mooks can still take you out in one hit even with endgame gear due to some bullshit critical hit.
also this is more of an issue with 2, but my God does the game love throwing gangs of enemies at you. it's slow as hell even with combat speed turned all the way up. i don't think it even affects some of the NPCs such as the aliens or geckos.
Sounds like every tactics game ever. Same bullshit kept me from enjoying Wastelands 3.
holy fricking filtered
>I suck at the game
git gud zoomie
git. gud. Pretend it is your dork souls game. I thought you were pro-gamers.
what are your perseption and agility stats set at?
but you can come back 10 levels later and absolutely rape them
>He didn't tag unarmed
>make franchise
>it sucks so bad you have to sell it to someone more successful
>seethe and brigade the successful devs to let you make a spin-off on their engine

there hasn't been a good fallout game since nv, 4 was trash and 76 is just wow for even bigger homosexuals
I also learned that here
4 was a direct rebuttal of the points people praised NV of surpassing 3 in (ADS gunplay, more factions, etc)
76 was a wash, made by a backup studio but fair enough it does have the BGS name on it so the shame is todds to bare

>you missed
>you missed
>you hit for 1 damage
>you hit for 2 damage
>you were critically hit for 456 damage. Feel the pain.
watch out OP, I posted a thread like this two days ago and the jannys deleted it.

>Fallout 2 had a shit villain
>the master is so stupid he doesn’t even realise his mutants being sterile is a problem
Louie is the real final boss in 1
>Hey guys I picked Gifted like every meta guide says and now I get BTFO in the early game, Fallout SUCKS
I mean you're kind of screwing yourself over not taking gifted, you don't really see attribute scores being so important and hard to modify in many modern games, so you can easily screw yourself over by allocating them poorly. Good roleplaying and more ambiguous choices, mainly. It's not as clearcut good and evil.
FO1 isn't even that bad
FO2 is absolute dogshit
enemies have 3x the HP

theres always like 7-8 enemies in FO2 instead of like 3-4 in FO1

>exploration is far less rewarding
Not true at all. F1 has like 3 small ass towns.
I always look forward to a new wave of normalgay secondaries getting filtered by games like this.
Most """"""""""""""""classic"""""""""""""""" games have aged like shit.
Deadass this game is straight dogwater fr fr on jah add 3rd person mode and iframe dodgerolls so its a REAL rpg
>add 3rd person mode and iframe dodge
but it has both of those(not rolling but still)
>pick melee in Fallout 2
>it's total shit
>literally just unarmed that does 2x less damage and slowly slides enemies all over the screen so you have to waste action points chasing them while getting shot by 20+ dudes
Frick these poorly designed games
i would like a melee focused fallout game

Man, aftermath of Fallout Show are great, I've never seen so many filtered homosexuals in my life.
If you do that repeatedly on Reddit, you could farm a few updootes, my friend. Maybe even a cool gold award!

Why does low effort crap like this even become copypasta nowadays?
