I haven't played a smash game since legacy XP but Wario isn't a treasure hunter anymore, I think he owns some business now which i hear is okay game play wise.
They can change a few details here and there for each game, but ultimately Wario is always going to be defined as a greedy, money-grubbing little israelite goblin.
