>MiSTer plays almost every game I'm even remotely interested in
>The only thing I do from my PC is browse message boards or emulate old games
>Mister runs linux
>There are web browsers for Linux that run in the command line
I have been thinking about printing one of those breadbox/keyboard cases for my mister (think C64 or MSX) for a more authentic experience when playing those kinds of games, but now I'm considering trying to get something like lynx on it and using it as my main PC. Anything it can't do (YouTube etc) I can just do on my phone anyway.

Has anyone had the same idea?

That's kind of cool if you want to do it. Most games for C64 or MSX that people would want emulated use joysticks, but for aesthetic reasons I like it.

I can plug my joystick into it too. But it's convenient to have the keyboard right there. And if I can browse /vr/ from it even better.

Using it for modern purposes is a dumb idea, the arm side of de10 is extremely weak, you can't really use it as a linux workstation.
Putting it in a wedge case is pretty good for dicking around in computer cores, though.

Even for browsing my favorite Mexican basket weaving forum via the terminal?
If it doesn't work out I'll edit the case files and put a raspberry pi in there and a toggle to switch between the pi and the mister. Not sure how that will work for plugging the keyboard into both devices though...

      >Has anyone had the same idea?
Probably. There are many mentally unstable fantasists who imagine doing moronic things with it.

Using one device for everything you need is moronic? Gee, isn't that the argument that emulator gays usually make in favor of their PC?

        >Using one device for everything you need is moronic?
Yes. There's a famous saying about using the right tool for the job. Only fools and coping poorgays claim it's a bad idea.
        >Gee, isn't that the argument that emulator gays usually make
Yes. Your kind makes that argument all the time. You do understand you're an emugay, right? Paying to emulate doesn't make you the genius you imagine yourself to be. It just shows you're a pseud.

I paid for a device, I didn't pay for an emulator. There's a difference between a piece of hardware and the software that it runs. The software is free, the hardware is $250. I paid for a piece of hardware, I didn't pay for an emulator.

Except that one device isn't designed for general purpose use while the other is.
Failing to understand that difference is what makes (You) the moron here.

Who cares? Phones weren't designed for games but the mobile gaming market is booming. Cassette tapes weren't designed for music but that market was huge in it's hey-day. Filter yourself homosexual. You probably don't even have a mister.

Wait, how well does Ganker work in lynx? Now I wanna try that myself.

Idk I haven't tried it yet. I usually just browse using Terminus Browser.

You do know that some users hide images entirely, right? I use terminus to browse the channies I'm at work. Anyway there is a cmd browser for Ganker that actually displays images in the terminal but it's for debian and I don't feel like trying to figure out getting it to work on the mister because it requires a mouse. As long as I can read the channies, read/post on agora road, and update my blog I'll be satisfied. I don't need images, I can always shitpost from my phone.

Ok sure, but saying you don't care about images at home is pure sour grapes. You'll browse Ganker without images for 10 mins and then go back to any method that lets you see images. Browsing without images is for either not getting caught or literally just for the novelty of browsing on some specific hardware or software and not because it's a better experience

I could browse Ganker, update my blog, check my rss feed, check 5ch, play some games. If I want to shitpost I'll just use my phone like a normal person.

That's it? The average /vr/ user is a phoneposting zoomer normalhomosexual who jumps on the latest overpriced hardware trend now? Ganker users are proud of using phones now?

Anon, I have probably been on the internet longer than you have been alive. And MiSTer isn't an overpriced hardware trend; it's cheaper and runs games better than a budget laptop and it's definitely not the latest trend - it's a niche item at best.
                >Ganker users are proud of using phones now?
It's 2024; are you poor or are you just pretending that you don't have a phone?
