name a game with good side quests that are not mechanically fetch quests.
fallout new vegas is routinely fellated on this board but every single quest in that game is still 'talk to someone, defeat these monsters, find this item'. always. what matters for a side quest is the dressing around it. you're always getting the same kind of food.
the dressing in xvi may be lacking. it's just more context to a world that you probably already could've guessed.
> We barely need stats > We don't need status ailments > We don't need elemental weaknesses/strengths > We don't need skill/magic variety > We don't need mana/stamina systems > We don't need Black folk, but we add homosexuals instead > We don't need active exploration > We don't need good sidequests > We don't need secrets around the world > We don't need turns, it's time to evolve > RPG evolution is just turning into Devil May Cry
>>RPG evolution is just turning into Devil May Cry
I still don't understand why they decided to run off DMC instead of Dragon's Dogma or even Tales Of.
you wouldn't make this complaint of dmc or kh. it's an action game. get those expectations out of your head.
it's not like classic ffs aren't also railroaded by msq.
Are the zones interconnected or do you select them from a menu? Do they have optional/hidden areas and pathways? Are there any secret, engaging discoveries off the beaten path?
Its time: They need to link up once again.
FF 17 coming soon!

Hi Barry
Isn't Barry the Flash, not Shazam
blame all the homosexuals complaining about turn-based combat
>>RPG evolution is just turning into Devil May Cry

bing bing wahoo
yeah exploration really fricking sucks
every new area is locked behind msq

they likened exploration to 12 but 12 had many more optional areas to explore
But the zones are very much like 12
except much smaller and any side routes are always blocked off or inaccessible
exploration feels more tales of arise than ffxii
literally said ffxii - learn to read - ffxii had a lot of side areas you could find unlike this game
Wait, so FFXII's zones weren't gated by the story?
not all of them
it still had a lot of optional areas to explore unlike 16
Are the zones interconnected or do you select them from a menu? Do they have optional/hidden areas and pathways? Are there any secret, engaging discoveries off the beaten path?
very few are interconnected and if there is a secret areas its for msq or a fetch quest
Got it, so not like XII at all then.
Did you just call 12 engaging
yes
the devs likened it to 12 not me
I know, I was originally replying to the dumbass who claimed XVI's zones are like XII's.
I mean "engaging" is obviously subjective but what he's asking is basically are there any secrets like you got from 12's maps. The answer is no.
Could you answer the question?
>every new area is locked behind msq
Is there a single FF game where this isn't the case?

Replace with Masashi Hamauzu and Junya Nakano, then we'll have a godly ost on the level of FF10 again.
>demo is kino
>actual game is a slog
XV and 7R all over again but XVI isn't a slog imo
