The hardware is not even the same moron. The CPU is more powerful on most modern phones but thats about it.
It's hard to find comparisons, but an Apple A15 has higher gpu clocks, better process (5nm vs 20), more cores, but not seeing any graphics comparisons except the A15 kicking it's ass in physics.

And the Switch was mogged by the iPhone that came out the same year it was release in hardware graphics power and CPU and this comparison was done with the Nvidia Shield and devkits which are clocked higher. The margin is close but it's really not surprising. You can now get that power easily now in sub $300 devices in 2022.

The hilarious thing is that the CPU going into the Switch 2 is going to be outclassed by the SOC Apple put out the next year after A11, A12, in single core. So it's not unironically far off. Graphics power is a different matter though especially with features like DLSS.
It's doing fine because Apple is bundling it in with everything else they are selling as a subscription and subsidizing it. The quality of most of the games on there though get blown away by the stuff that lands on a competing service like Xbox Gamepass and without the subsidy, Apple Arcade would've been a gigantic failure.
On topic though, it is somewhat hilarious that Apple is dipping their toes to try and get AAA games on their platform and failing to. I wonder how much Capcom was paid by Apple to port over RE8 to macOS which doesn't even have a release date yet.
As long as the Switch 2 is at least a full generational step up then I don't mind. Plus, if Nvidia really implements DLSS in a meaningful way then they should be able to squeeze a little more out of the thing.
DLSS Ultra Performance mode for the Switch is practically a given, and I will be interested to see if the shimmering given the instability of the frames and the general blurriness will bother people and be "good enough". To me, it really looks bad if I look at it on my TV but I suppose that is probably better than the 540p dynamic resolution stuff that has been appearing on the platform.
Android phones have Switch emulators, anon. They're not great but if phones can run games at 30 FPS with an emulator they can run them natively just fine.

They had their chance. The Vidya media saw phones as the future in the early 2010s. Cheap experiences that replicate simplistic times in video games and had stole millions of casuals from the Wii. Then they blew it by not evolving past that. Phone games that were once 5 dollars were now free but clustered with adds and Gatcha mechanics and more and more people went back to console gaming and even handheld gaming

I dont like mobile gaming at all. If I can play it on a screen I do. Rarely ever undock my switch and didn't get a Steam Deck because I knew I wouldn't use it.
