The Morrowind modding community has always been pretty nice for me. The most drama I've seen was a modder get shit on for making his mods exclusive to OpenMW.
There's still some holdovers. Like the MWSE devs still feeling extremely threatened about OpenMW getting Lua and some of their fans stating they won't port their mods even if it becomes possible.
My understanding was that NullCascade at least was at least open to coordinating with the OpenMW team now.
The drama was ridiculous to begin with. For the time being, MWSE is an amazing resource, but if OpenMW ever becomes fully complete it'll be a great thing for the community.
I like mods, and I do awknowledge that their contributions increase the life span of games and bring countless hours of extra joy to players.
But modders tend to be auistic, self-centered and have "holier-than-thou" attitude. I just want to enjoy my game; I don't need you dictating what I can and can't enjoy. Nor do I want you shoving your fetish buffet down my throat, thanks and frick you.
while I agree that nexus is the biggest it's not the only one place, there is always alternative
sure it will lead to less people getting your stuff but hey I make mods for myself first and foremost
Yes, but it's extra barriers for players just because modders throw hissy fits.
Also this
Some modders disallow compatibility patches and the like so the Nexus mods will remove it.
I've seen lately how modders tend to add some random "This is protected by X act of the US state code of WHOTHEFRICKCARES that protects me and my work that I do for free, REEEE SUB to my patreon" etc. in their mod descriptions. It's fricking cringe. People who like tinkering will tinker and will do it anonymously and they will take your work for their own ends and share it equally anonymously giving absolutely zero fricks.
I know I would, if I was code savvy and gave a frick.
That's why you should treat modding as a fun hobby. If you make a pretty big and successful one you can probably put it on your resume assuming it's not just some simple edits.
man I just don't give a frick about their wishes, if I don't like mod and I can fix it I will do that, if I like the idea I will take it and make my own and I expect other modders do the same to mine. if they do better I will use their version thats it
it is the only way for healthy scene: 'intellectual property' is surrendered to public domain the moment you upload none of this blabla clause yadayada ownership
I agree completely.
I merely wanted to make a point that most players who dabble into mods are just players that want some extra spice in their game, no fuss, no muss.
But the moment modders start flexing their autism on other modders; it's ultimately the players who get caught in the crossfire.
Mental illness and an inflated ego are a hell of a thing

Who knows. I didn't want to deal with that shit so I dropped the project.

Uhhh, anon?
What's the most he would do anyway? Get some e-friends to call you names or some gay shit?
Literally nothing besides annoy the shit out of you
if its not skyrim bikini armor mods i dont care
Modders are very niche even for games like Skyrim. The average Joe doesn't want to deal with that shit.
Not for Paradox games, they did a poll and 40% of the users said they used mods

im still bit sad wrye's etiquette didnt take off
It's nice how collegial things are now that the OpenMW drama has been more or less resolved.

This guy and Empress should get together, talk about a power couple.

In the end, it's just a darn shame.
