Baldur's gate 3 is good (at least before it crumbles at act 3 but they'll eventually fix this like they did with their other games), but i still prefer DAO. It's just a product of his time when being extra gritty and edgy was cool. You had all kinds of weird ass companions too, but somehow, they still felt like actual "normal" individuals and less like a fricking gay circus.
>half of your party including a required tank character are cut and resold as DLC >every time you overworld travel a DLC merchant directs you to the EA store
based EA. with the original DAO disc you can unlock all DLC my simply going into the games config file and changing the flag DLC=FALSE to TRUE same with the awakening expansion =TRUE frick EA
from left to right:
a random drunk you find at a bar, a former spy and criminal on the run, a powerful witch's daughter, a warrior from a foreign land who chimped out and got locked up, the disowned bastard half-elf son of the king, a government stooge, an assassin, a magic golem created by a mage, and lastly a dog.
all very believable characters for this universe, and they all fit in perfectly with the established lore from the books. more importantly, they're all able to be regular people because YOU are a regular person. instead of being the chosen one, you get to choose your background as someone who fits into the world somehow, whether you're born into nobility or impoverished or a feral jungle elf or a mage etc. then you get swept up and recruited for a suicide mission, and because everyone else who is actually important dies you accidentally become crucial to the survival of the country. it's great writing and great characterization.
>less like a fricking gay circus.
It's the fault of deranged female writers/designers most likely, it's not even some le Ganker hates women thing because tumblr was a mistake that western media will take decades to recover from, not even otaku culture ruined a generation of people that much
i just finished a dao playthrough like a week ago and i genuinely can't remember the main sidekick dude's name
my brain keeps saying anders but he's the gay from 2
It really doesn't. I replayed it recently and was disappointed at it not being nearly as good as I remember it being. I saw someone in a previous thread say it was "the Bioshock of cRPGS" and they are absolutely right.
Le no
Le oui
Sad that this was the last hurrah of BioWare before they went full moron.

How is Shale required? I beat the game my first time without her.

True, the MC isn't special, you get no super special powers that no one else has in the world. You are just another warrior that becomes a legend.

Alistair
Bowser
Angry Joe
>posting a pale, streamlined shadow of the Baldur's Gate games that tried to ape the LOTR movies way too hard
>posting Baldur's Gate, but actually good
FTFY
I beat this game and can’t remember a second of it.

Shit game.
I didn't play BG3 for obvious heterosexual reasons but I can't imagine its third act and final villain being as bad as DAO.
Its final villain is worse than the archdemon
The companions in DAO mogs BG3 definitely.
Morrigan, Leliana, and Alistair are the only good ones
Even fricking Sten mogs any BG3 character
>Pick gish subclass for sorc
>Game plays itself
RTwP morons are so delusional sometimes.
> Can frick one companion without romance
> The discount corrupted orcs are ignored in sequels
It was never meant to become a franchise which is why the main character can straight up die.
Dragon Age Origins has fricking horrendous side quests though, it's JRPG tier. Just for that alone, hell no.
Origins has good and bad sidequests they're not all jrpg tier
Human arcane warrior is the most Chad class you can be in this game.
Mage:
>tons of spells that synergize
>ridiculous damage and cc
>can use potions to regen mana
Warrior:
>hit harder, stun and knockdown. Thats it.
Hugely in favor of skirt wearing homosexuals and braindead easy even on the highest difficulty.
