The body styles are still only either male or female. You're just going to essentially be playing as a troony by mixing the two styles together.

melee can straight up face tank every boss in the game on master/legendary with the gear available before said boss with the exception of the destroyer
the excalibur change makes it slaughter the destroyer too

As much as I enjoy inventory autism in games, it was the #1 keeping me from replaying terraria because it's just too severe in that game. This mod is a godsend
far, far worse. there are over 6000 unique items in terraria. if you had only one stack of ever item, it would take more than 150 chests to store everything. but good luck finding anything!
>10 years after release >melee is still suicide/bargain bin mage >ranger and mage are still brainless
summoner is probably the only class that actually got better with subsequent updates, albeit flawed thanks to red's moronic FF-loving ass giving a faux-melee weapon to the squishiest class
Tbh Terraria's core movement and combat is just pure jank dogshit. Accelerating movement and bosses that stunlock you with hitstun? And you make a melee class in that enviroment?
The only thing that it needs is for melee weapons to get a right click effect. Some of them should be alternate attacks, while others a parry that gives I-frames. Calamity has the right idea for melee. It's huge risk, huge reward. The best DPS in the game, but you need to know a boss inside and out and what is safe to approach and what you can get away with.
>without overhauling combat entirely
That's the mentality that got us yo-yos. Either admit that melee doesn't fit in the combat style Terraria is going for and take it out, or do what you need to in order to actually make the things you put in the game work.
immensely increased damage after not swinging for a few seconds. Fast swinging is good against normal enemies because they take knockback and they get stunlocked out of attacking. Bosses don't take knockback and you can't cancel their attacks by hitting them so if you want to get a fraction of decent dps you have to facehug bosses and tank to land multiple hits in. If you gained a massive damage bonus to your next swing if you don't swing for a while, then you can focus on dodging like every other class and then you go in for a huge burst of damage on a swing. Better than the current moronic "make sword fire lazer" or "make sword bigger hurr" design principle.
Magic is in 2 parts
I don't like ammo or mana resources, so """mana""" is infinite (not even a resource meter for it) but there is another resource meter that builds as you deal damage, and that resource meter lets you cast more interesting spells like the higher damage ones, or utility like healing, buffing yourself or friends, or other niche stuff
The other half is a secret

I might actually use this magic for once since I hate managing how many times I can attack before I need to sit out of the fight for an hour or drink my gatorade >resource meter that builds as you deal damage
very nice, I love it already since that means that I can use my above average skill at killing things to keep my friends alive too
it would be perfect for me if there was an accessory or something that made that resource meter your health, either replacing health with mana (healing doesn't work and you have lowered health but you essentially have life leech, might benefit from low health/full health accessories, good for long drawn out fights against marathon bosses for glass cannons) or mana with health (needs healing to cast but has a larger resource pool, good for short fights against glass cannons or when healing isn't needed that much)
I'm glad you like the idea, it definitely feels good to use no I won't show you yet until I have more to show off
As for HP-trade off stuff, I absolutely want risk-reward to each class too, which is why I want to do some form of skill tree that lets you specialize a class further. But not a traditional leveling system of just grinding and killing mobs for experience, but instead getting points through other means like achievements and challenges

No, this has got far more bloat than even the worst mojang release by a factor of ten.
However, it's also got a shitload more good content than Mojang's game has content.
Honestly I wonder what Terraria would look like if you just had an (effectively) infinite inventory on you anyways
Like what would be the downside? Rangers can hold as much ammo as they want? Mages can have as much potions as they want? Like they're ever going to run out of them in a fight with how big stack sizes are?
It's not like Minecraft where you need to strategize as you might lose the items you have, with Terraria unless you're playing Tediumcore that's never the case

Very nice, but the hardmode content hasn't been updated in a long time making hardmode awful. For instance Infernon is literally impossible to no hit currently with how he works (gets faster the more damage you do, which removes spaces to dodge attacks since he attacks so fast) unless you just outrun him with every speed related item in the game. I wish Minecraft could have Terraria's updates and elements. >Actual biomes with unique enemies >Isn't afraid of allowing weaponry that stands out or clashes with the world >Multiple boss battles >Significantly smaller team but the updates are more frequent >Doesn't have to make excuses for not adding stuff, adds stuff for the hell of it >Way more items to build stuff with, actual furniture and fixings and the ability to paint your base/home
Mojang wishes they could be Redigit. Building is way easier in Minecraft, that's all they get.
I can't function in this game or Minecraft without a massive organized storage room, so I always build one early and include chests for future hard mode items.
Feels good to tap quick stack and all the junk I'm carrying is gone.
my struggle with inventory is that I'm the only one with the 'tism in my friend group. So they end up just dumping random shit in random chests when quicksort doesn't take care of it and it becomes a mess
I don't fault them for it but it's why I'm glad the magic storage mod exists

I remember dropping this game right around the time they added wires.
It's just that the light mechanics are shit
If you didn't have to have like 100 torches per 300 squares, it would be fine
I only play with a light hack on and it's far more enjoyable
>I only play with a light hack
night owl and shine potions aren't hacks.
Proper lighthack
the potions don't do shit in the long run
You blind motherfricker. I bet you play with a minimap and with a wire cutters in your hand too.
I just dislike having to shit out torches non stop and it makes the game look ugly
Did you think at some point that maybe...maybe cave exploration is supposed to be in darkness with a couple of light sources?
Minecraft does it fine
the fact that torches do light up only a few blocks is the problem
As a whole, red is an absolutely shit designer we know this. The mechanic is fine if done right. It is not done right unless you're autistic.
Is the new mod that rivals Calamity any good? Star something or whatever,
>starlight river is a calamity rival
morons need to stop saying every large mod is a calamity rival nobody's trying to compete against the edgy dumpster fire with a community of tryhard "HURT ME MORE" homosexuals that is calamity.
Starlight river doesnt even have any hardmode content yet if my memorys right its just got like 4 bosses and a little over 100 weapons right now its all extremely polished tho like mirror sheen tier polish.
Thank you for figuring out the actual name of the mod, the first thing that came up when I looked for a star terraria mod was this. Starlight river seems like it could be good, hopefully it doesn't die out and lives long enough to get a 1.0 release.
Stars Above is pretty fun. star waifus give you neat and interesting weapons.
1.0: dogshit
1.1: dogshit
1.2: dogshit
1.3: KINO
1.4: dogshit
how do people play big mods like thorium/calamity without magic storage? Like do you just make a gorillion chests?
Most people don't keep everything. Once you get through a section, you just sell shit.
gorillion chests + the mod that lets you search items in nearby chests
elaborate
the same thing that fuels every nerf: the irrational fear that players might become too powerful
though to be fair, mining armor is fricking insane and it'd be even more so if it were a 2-piece set
>mining armor is fricking insane and it'd be even more so if it were a 2-piece set
hm fair
>elaborate
terraria inspires my game, i'm in these threads sometimes
wanted to take classes a few steps further and make them way more distinct from each other
>terrishart becomes cringe wannabe bullet hell
>starbound remains pointless exploration game
starCHADS we WON
won what?
the award for... how did you put it? most pointless game?
starbound requires imagination to have fun
terraria just requires damage numbers
cry about it
Hey, you're the one who said it, not me.
Take it and get outta here.
>troonybound
get Sexbound
>starbound source code got leaked
We are gonna take our game back from Ty fellow starCHADS
>get a magiluminescence
I still don't get why we can't wear the nightvision goggles or the miner's helmet in the light accessory slot.
I tried this game but it seemed like dumb baby shit
I like Calamity 🙂
melee projectiles is such a moronic concept
if you want to make it easier to hit things, and you're going for the "magic sword" thing, then make the weapon have a huge glowing magic extension when you swing it or something
>bloat
it's literally less complicated than minecraft, there's just no content beyond beating the game in 15 hours
When will red decide hes made enough money to opensource terraria?
>people still praising this garbage artstyle
What kind of moron does this? Seriously?
I wish Minecraft could have Terraria's updates and elements.
>Actual biomes with unique enemies
>Isn't afraid of allowing weaponry that stands out or clashes with the world
>Multiple boss battles
>Significantly smaller team but the updates are more frequent
>Doesn't have to make excuses for not adding stuff, adds stuff for the hell of it
>Way more items to build stuff with, actual furniture and fixings and the ability to paint your base/home
Mojang wishes they could be Redigit. Building is way easier in Minecraft, that's all they get.
expert is too hard
Play on Journey.
If it's too hard, make it easier, if it's too easy, make it harder.
Master mode is ridiculously hard I actually went with ranger class
It was lot of fun with some friends tho, but the moon lord fricking obliterates you
Inventory/chest management is keeping me from starting hardmode. Games shouldn't be a chore to play man.
skill issue
I can't function in this game or Minecraft without a massive organized storage room, so I always build one early and include chests for future hard mode items.
Feels good to tap quick stack and all the junk I'm carrying is gone.
my struggle with inventory is that I'm the only one with the 'tism in my friend group. So they end up just dumping random shit in random chests when quicksort doesn't take care of it and it becomes a mess
I don't fault them for it but it's why I'm glad the magic storage mod exists
I miss old minecraft.
