Its weird. This was RDR2 for me but I felt like I never ran out of reasons to roam the world in BotW. Open world games seem kind of like MMO's, certain ones click and everyone who doesn't click with it must think those people are crazy.
He's really not though, you spend even more time after that farming all the drops he has so you can make Zenith or finish the set of armor that you can't get on the first try.

I think it was the 6th level in Thief Gold, the one where you try to get the Eye, missed one gem worth 100 that was on the opposite side of the cathedral and I was backtracking around the level for about 15 minutes.
Mostly rhythm game stuff. Passing Max 300 in DDR many years ago, getting 7th Dan in IIDX after half a year being wiener blocked by The Safari, and passing my first 20 in Sound Voltex which was Lachryma. Just every time I had some long term goal in rhythm games, I'd hit it then I'd just get depressed and not play for a month.
The Overjoy rank in LR2 felt like that too imo, the few legendary players who managed to reach it just fricked off shortly after, even those who managed clearing 6 charts eventually disappeared forever.
It really is like that. These games have ways for you to keep moving goal posts and the baseline for dedicated players is way higher than it was in the 2000s. That's why I see shit like Polaris Chord coming out with a really light top end and just know that shit isn't going to make it. SMX is somehow the only exception I've seen because it's American, directly undercutting DDR, and they targeted barcades and fitness really hard. There only being a handful of 26+ charts is pretty pathetic coming from DDR, even if Max 428 is still out of reach for me because I'm not totally used to the center panel yet.
I'm not sure what the input is supposed to be for those notes but yeah, that looks really easy for a max difficulty chart. I'm sure that's just an outlier though, even stuff like Taiko or Pop'n have been upping their ranks with each passing year.
Gonna feel like this when I get my two S rank mounts in FFXIV, not really sure about doing another 2,500 for the ULTIMATE THRILLSEEKER title, at least not now.
