The Dig has the most annoying characters in the world of adventures, holy shit. I played it as a kid and didn't notice this, but reviewing the game recently even in the press conference they give at the beginning, as astronauts with a mission that may represent the future of humanity, they already behave like insufferable passive-aggressive b***hes and they will stay that way the entire mission, even when they are doing technical stuff in space. It is as if the mission has been given to 12-year-old children incapable of doing any group work.
It amazes me that the writers didn't realize how unlikable and irrational the characters they created were.
Adventure games have never been good...
It was a genius solution to offer a more elaborate adventure when hardware was so limited, but that's basically it.
Mi1 and 2 are amazing. Still, we don't need adventure games- 1 or 2 good ones a decade are good enough
I don't consider adventure games real games like a sekiro, a resident evil 2, a doom 2, a doom eternal, or a fighting game is- still the first two MIS are legendary
Monkey Island was good when I was in elementary school. Thanks to ron gilbert and tim schaefer turning out to be giant morons I realized clinging onto nostalgic attachment for old videogames is fricking moronic.
It was nice when it was nice and that should've been it.
The most recent monkey island necromancy just went to show that it was a fluke and nostalgia needs to die.
I just think the loom-mechanic is tiresome.
My favorite p&c games are >Simon the Sorcerer 1&2 >Discworld 1&2 >Sam n Max >Day of the tentacle >Toonstruck >Beneath a Steel Sky >Kyrandia 2 >Leisure Suit Larry 6&7 >The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble
I remember waiting for it. But then I never saw it released. Found it many years later at a sale, but didn't bother with it.
Wasn't it part of the wave of p&c games where they shifted to 3D?
Nah, Lucasarts didn't make a single bad adventure game. Remarkable actually. Even the lesser played ones like the Dig.
This.
Somehow they hit it out of the park every time. Too bad adventure games died.
lel yes they did, you're just remembering to good ones

It's a nice-looking vidya with a interesting (for its time) premise, but falls apart in everything else.
Idk Full Throttle was kinda meh, they tried to spice it up with some action segments and felels so forced while the puzzles themselves are pretty bad
I haven't played it in a long time tbh. Liked it as a kid at least. The setting was unique for the time, but I guess it's been done a lot more since.
i no rite fr fr no cap
Compared to Sierra garbage it was really fricking good.
Point and clicks were never good.
Thank fricking Christ Doom came out and completely blew the entire genre to pieces.
FPS did something much worse: got rid of dogfighting and space shooters. Not on purpose, but it somehow happened anyways.
Bro did you just forget about ace combat?
t. ADD riddled zoomer
WRONG TOONSTRUCK IS A MASTERPIECE AND DESERVES A SEQUEL
It was and no it doesnt, or do you want a toonstruck 2 cal-arts boogaloo
this games make me feel really stupid for some time, then I figute things out and starting thinking what the frick is wrong with the developers.
no
it was great
and it never deserved that poor excuse of a remake
One of the only actually funny games, a classic.
wrong
it was great
return to monke island HD remaster
You're right, it was never good. In fact, it's always been great.
Adventure games have never been good...

Go to that trash site Adventure Gamers and watch in dismay as they all cheer for the necroing of their past.
Loom was tiresome

No discworld noir?

aye. It looked good back then and the mood was kino, but unlike say Grim Fandango, which had a much simpler artstyle, it didnt age well at all.
the first one has definitely aged but the second one is a masterpiece.
