GL is shit, but Bow is literally the easy mode weapon. You do frick tons of damage, you have dodge that has so many iframes that you have to be full moron to get hit by something, and you don't even have to be close to the monster so you have plenty of time to react to anything.

Charging sidestep has 4 iframes, the same as a normal roll. Dodgebolt has less than Lance instablock, and has no access to something like anchor rage to remove recovery time from attacks that you will be spamming (power shot) >far from the monster

even spread bow is still comfortably in a zone that you can just dodge and disengage from the monster to heal and stuff, lance you are basically by the monster's balls 24/7 with an atrociously low sheathing speed and getting small chips along the way, you basically have to spend a wirebug to heal and frick that I wanna do damage with my wirebugs
also insta block is only good on one attack, you need to parry every hit in a multi hit move unlike dodgebolt which is out of the way by the first one, and with instablock you gotta know when to be greedy or when to prepare for another attack because cross thrust has higher commitment than any normal bow shot

The ones you listed are different but then you have things like Kushla, Chemelos, Kirin, Lao, and Valstrax. which for as much as we know about them and as long as they've been around there has never been a hint that each other is a specific gender. We just assume there is some kind of mating population for them.
THEN you have somethings like Nergi/Fata/Safi which seem to have A sexual ways to reproduce.

Yeah we get text/dialogue in the games to suggest this, for those examples. As far as I know we don't have that for Malzeno. I don't think there is a right or wrong answer about the sex question here, truly. Not until capcom establishes the distinction.

There is no "traditional sense" for elder dragons.
Duchess is the female equivalent to Duke, and just because it's not included in a description in-game doesn't mean it's not implied. Nothing else suggests that Malzeno is asexual and has no need to mate to reproduce, as far as I know. I'm not even a dragonfricker I just think it's logical to assume there are 2 sexes involved in how they reproduce

EVERYTHING implies it. Any dragon whose reproduction follows normal patterns does as these do. By the game's own showcasing, either Malzeno is the male or he is asexual. Anything else is coping when he is labeled a Duke, no more no less.

It's not though, it's ambiguous. Malzeno can be both sexes until capcom deliberately adds a "female pattern" version. You're just coping and using a title to work backwards from a conclusion. There would be some kind of actual description in game SOMEHWERE of asexual behavior patterns if it were part of Malzenos nature. It would be reflected in a armor description or monster info page or something like that.

It's literally like one schizo malding. Fullburst spam should always be theoretically more damage, Wide is safer and more consistent.
Though it was funny in Iceborne once Raging Brachy came out and Wide started cucking Long out of charged shelling and pretty much did everything except bursting, here charging has been cucked almost entirely out of existence

Rise gives even more options to customize playstyle than even World does, which is something that made me favor GU for a long time. But the engine Rise runs on is way better than the one GU runs on (not that I don't still love the old generations of monster hunter)

CB is really at its best with lare monster with long windows so you have ample time to hit all of your phails.
I don't think lagombi would be a great matchup for CB, but if you wanted to practice against anomaly monsters I'd recomend pukei or rathian, they both have pretty big tells for their attacks and can be earily guard pointed. Also remember that you dont have to commit to a SAED, you can cancel it out to a AED with less commitment.
Also for a SAED build counter morph slash is great makes trasformation to axe take longer out of neutral but gives you a much larger guard point window out and a good guard point transforming out of axe mode too
Yeah I hadn't had a problem with afflicted either apart from the first Arzuros just figuring out how it worked, but Lagombi fricking sucked. Even Volvidon wasn't this fricked up; he just keeps fricking going and 95% of attacks give you bloodblight in a fight where only ranged and maybe DB can realistically keep on him constantly.

Run Golcops due to high base Attack, no negative Affinity, and great deco slot. Then run any Attack/Crit/Damage skill you want. For me, I just run image related because I like low effort and getting almost no damage when I block.

Shrapnel "magnetizes" to weakpoints. You will notice this if you go to the training room and as long as you're aiming around the head of the training dummy, most of the hits will still target the head. However, if there are any shitzones screening for the weakpoint, then you'll hit thos zones instead.

Assist-Type kinsects, once you have all three essence buffs collected, will join in attacking while you're performing your heavy attacks like Tornado Slash, Tetraseal Slash, etc.

Gunlance, in a vacuum, is worse than the other weapons. In that same vein, time attack isn't representative of normal gameplay. A mediocre weapon played well outclasses a meta weapon played by a fricking moron, which is disproportionally the people who flock to things just because they're good rather than because they're fun.
Did I do something wrong? I just got the retail sunbreak that comes with the base game and the download code, put the card, redeemed the code and upgrade rise to the lastest version...yet the icon is still old Rise, why?
havent really played that GL so can't really help there, but if you have a shield block the big attacks, theres usually a huge attack window after he does literally anything

The only time movement is a problem is trying to get to the crossbows to blow up the rocks when he brings them up. The rest of it is me just getting hit one or twice and then I either get killed to some chip damage or I'm clipped while I heal. The real problem is that I'm just shit.

The fact that Capcom didn't include Anomaly quests for several monsters from the getgo is annoying. Garangolm is actually a pretty fun fight as Anomaly, and his extra oomph to his Rage burst is a nice touch. I want to see Lunadog, Steve, and Apenis already!
Just found out that in Rise when you get hit and get sent flying you can just wire bug to instantly distance yourself and that automatically unseathes the weapon.. Damn. This ruined the game for me. Makes it far too "simple"..
Step 1: Go attack monster and makes sure you have a wirebug off cooldown.
Step 2: If you get hit just wirebug and drink a mega potion.
Repeat.
There are attacks that punish this anon, once you unlock good switch skills on most weapons you won't want to waste bugs on evading as your best damage is tied to bugs
A lot of monsters have attacks specifically to punish that too. Lot of multihits after the first attack to catch people wirefalling, and i
f you create too much distance they'll use a high tracking chase attack to frick you up too.

PC match making is region locked and it is based on your steam download location. So switch your steam download location to a large country and you will find more games.

Hellfire blight leaves a little fart cloud whenever you use a wirebug dodge (the generic sheathed ones and some of the weapon specific ones). The fart clouds can topple the monster. The first topple only needs one cloud, but the subsequent ones need increasingly more (I think the 2nd topple needs 10 or something like that).
With hellfire cloak you periodically get hellfire blight whenever the monster enrages, rather than just from Magnamalo.
There's also the Magnamalo Soul rampage deco that gives you attack bonus when you have hellfireblight/
MH4U is fun. I love it. I am now in late Grank.

I must say that I am dissapointed in one thing:
If you don't use the OP weapons (CB and IG and GS to some extent) in solo the hunts take forever because all the Grank quests are in the multiplayer hub where the monsters have more health. It's fricking sad and bad.

Not any of them and I only played HH casually in IB but Rise HH isn't as smooth for combos because of how slow certain moves come out. Some people might also dislike Perform basically being spammed every other attack. I like being able to heal constantly in Echo Mode though

It actually has fewer regular attacks and options.
HH no longer has any kind of music system, it's literal defining and title feature. Instead you play a note twice and there's your buff. You no longer have double note attacks, can no longer hilt stab, an entire category of attacks (performance) are just gone. There' no more gameplay in trying to figure out an attack string to get your best damage and your songs out, there's no longer placement of where to be when you use certain performances, there's no longer any encores.
Hunting Horn's gameplay is, in sunbreak, put down an egg, and play three songs and let your 900+ damage egg explosion deal all your damage for you. Or if you want to be more involved, you play three songs, and then do a break dance and pretend you're using dual blades.

You never really had to do that in the first place, just follow the onscreen prompt for attack up and you're done.
They actually did make it a lot simpler, but the hate for HH is also blown way out of proportion because having to remember to do three different (3) hits at least once every 1-2 minutes is still requires more braincells than playing Dual Blades, Lance, Gunlance, Greatsword, etc.
Its “expanded” moveset is just canned combos, HH’s previous strong was that you could flow any of its attacks into each other, which worked with the mobility of Self Improvement and the need to position for songs.

Just play in melee range, most people I see try to play it as an actual ranged weapon. But if you learn to mamage stamina well, it's just an endless onslaught with dodging and weaving. I haven't used it too much in Rise though, been trying to hit 75 hunts with every weapon and I get bored of the same one quite easily now.
This is how bowgays are born. I hate playing melee weapons now because it feels a little too "solved", but I also hate playing the guns because they're boring. Bow at least felt fun while dodging and shooting, but now I just use it because I kill stuff the fastest with it so I don't get bored
Is the new Awakened Kinsect Attack any good? It doesn't seem to do much damage for who long the animation takes and the fact that you need to collect your extracts again.
It's just a very awkward attack. Because it launches you at the monster, if you have the helicopter skill on and miss the red you just do the lame hop. It works fine with kinsect glide or whatever its called, but then you cant have diving wyvern on and that sucks
It's okay. Use it with Assist Kinsect to instantly get your Extracts back then you can use it as a gap closer or use it as a way to get two extracts quickly (Awakened into Kinsect Slash), but for the most part IG's stuff that costs wirebugs isn't really that amazing.

It's the MV changes. Lance was seriously weak in Rise, by a massive fricking margin, and then there was Guard actively working against Anchor Rage. Iceborn and Sunbreak lance are my favorite versions of the weapon. Iceborns clutch counter was always just too much fricking fun to do, and Skyward Thrust is brutal on any monster with wings, or a rear up pose, or any huge monster.
movement value, basically how much of your attack is used to determine a moves damage. For example, The cross slash attack from Insta block was a MV of 50 in Rise, while in Sunbreak it's 70.
All of lances attacks got at least a 20% damage increase with Sunbreak.

Charging sidestep has 4 iframes, the same as a normal roll. Dodgebolt has less than Lance instablock, and has no access to something like anchor rage to remove recovery time from attacks that you will be spamming (power shot)

even spread bow is still comfortably in a zone that you can just dodge and disengage from the monster to heal and stuff, lance you are basically by the monster's balls 24/7 with an atrociously low sheathing speed and getting small chips along the way, you basically have to spend a wirebug to heal and frick that I wanna do damage with my wirebugs
also insta block is only good on one attack, you need to parry every hit in a multi hit move unlike dodgebolt which is out of the way by the first one, and with instablock you gotta know when to be greedy or when to prepare for another attack because cross thrust has higher commitment than any normal bow shot

I'm currently on the Rathian branch, can't remember name of specific gun. Shrapnel 1 and 2 rapid fire is bonkers. Combine with evade extender and you're basically God.

Playing through mh4u and gu has made me appreciate a lot about rise
Rise gives even more options to customize playstyle than even World does, which is something that made me favor GU for a long time. But the engine Rise runs on is way better than the one GU runs on (not that I don't still love the old generations of monster hunter)

CB is really at its best with lare monster with long windows so you have ample time to hit all of your phails.
I don't think lagombi would be a great matchup for CB, but if you wanted to practice against anomaly monsters I'd recomend pukei or rathian, they both have pretty big tells for their attacks and can be earily guard pointed. Also remember that you dont have to commit to a SAED, you can cancel it out to a AED with less commitment.
Also for a SAED build counter morph slash is great makes trasformation to axe take longer out of neutral but gives you a much larger guard point window out and a good guard point transforming out of axe mode too

Yeah I hadn't had a problem with afflicted either apart from the first Arzuros just figuring out how it worked, but Lagombi fricking sucked. Even Volvidon wasn't this fricked up; he just keeps fricking going and 95% of attacks give you bloodblight in a fight where only ranged and maybe DB can realistically keep on him constantly.

Run Golcops due to high base Attack, no negative Affinity, and great deco slot. Then run any Attack/Crit/Damage skill you want. For me, I just run image related because I like low effort and getting almost no damage when I block.

So what's the deal with Shrapnel ammo over Spread ammo, I was thinking of picking up HBG but I take to new things like cats take to a cold bath.
Spread is shotgun as Shrapnel is to claymore mine. The difference is concentration of bullets and range. Spread is short range and the amount is closer together. Shrapnel scatter ammos in the camera view, attacking anything at once, but does far less damage. Meant to be use to clear trash mobs, boss with giant body, and Rampage mode.
Shrapnel "magnetizes" to weakpoints. You will notice this if you go to the training room and as long as you're aiming around the head of the training dummy, most of the hits will still target the head. However, if there are any shitzones screening for the weakpoint, then you'll hit thos zones instead.

Gunlance, in a vacuum, is worse than the other weapons. In that same vein, time attack isn't representative of normal gameplay. A mediocre weapon played well outclasses a meta weapon played by a fricking moron, which is disproportionally the people who flock to things just because they're good rather than because they're fun.

nah, you want the Skyward Thrust against Ibushi. It does insane damage to monsters with large vertical hitboxes like Ibushi.
You don't use spiral thrust for damage, you use it to keep up with them as they swim through the air.

Put spiral thrust on your other scroll and use it to close the gap.
So what exactly is doing the damage? an insta-guard should give you some time for attacks assuming that you're close enough to him.

The only time movement is a problem is trying to get to the crossbows to blow up the rocks when he brings them up. The rest of it is me just getting hit one or twice and then I either get killed to some chip damage or I'm clipped while I heal. The real problem is that I'm just shit.

Just found out that in Rise when you get hit and get sent flying you can just wire bug to instantly distance yourself and that automatically unseathes the weapon.. Damn. This ruined the game for me. Makes it far too "simple"..
Step 1: Go attack monster and makes sure you have a wirebug off cooldown.
Step 2: If you get hit just wirebug and drink a mega potion.
Repeat.

There are attacks that punish this anon, once you unlock good switch skills on most weapons you won't want to waste bugs on evading as your best damage is tied to bugs

PC match making is region locked and it is based on your steam download location. So switch your steam download location to a large country and you will find more games.

Hellfire blight leaves a little fart cloud whenever you use a wirebug dodge (the generic sheathed ones and some of the weapon specific ones). The fart clouds can topple the monster. The first topple only needs one cloud, but the subsequent ones need increasingly more (I think the 2nd topple needs 10 or something like that).
With hellfire cloak you periodically get hellfire blight whenever the monster enrages, rather than just from Magnamalo.
There's also the Magnamalo Soul rampage deco that gives you attack bonus when you have hellfireblight/
MH4U is fun. I love it. I am now in late Grank.

If you don't use the OP weapons (CB and IG and GS to some extent) in solo the hunts take forever because all the Grank quests are in the multiplayer hub where the monsters have more health. It's fricking sad and bad.

Not any of them and I only played HH casually in IB but Rise HH isn't as smooth for combos because of how slow certain moves come out. Some people might also dislike Perform basically being spammed every other attack. I like being able to heal constantly in Echo Mode though

It actually has fewer regular attacks and options.
HH no longer has any kind of music system, it's literal defining and title feature. Instead you play a note twice and there's your buff. You no longer have double note attacks, can no longer hilt stab, an entire category of attacks (performance) are just gone. There' no more gameplay in trying to figure out an attack string to get your best damage and your songs out, there's no longer placement of where to be when you use certain performances, there's no longer any encores.
Hunting Horn's gameplay is, in sunbreak, put down an egg, and play three songs and let your 900+ damage egg explosion deal all your damage for you. Or if you want to be more involved, you play three songs, and then do a break dance and pretend you're using dual blades.

You never really had to do that in the first place, just follow the onscreen prompt for attack up and you're done.

They actually did make it a lot simpler, but the hate for HH is also blown way out of proportion because having to remember to do three different (3) hits at least once every 1-2 minutes is still requires more braincells than playing Dual Blades, Lance, Gunlance, Greatsword, etc.
Its “expanded” moveset is just canned combos, HH’s previous strong was that you could flow any of its attacks into each other, which worked with the mobility of Self Improvement and the need to position for songs.

I played it in 3U (I didn't actually know about Kelbi Bow because I was a friendless Hunter) and 4U, but I guess that still makes me new to it regardless
Just play in melee range, most people I see try to play it as an actual ranged weapon. But if you learn to mamage stamina well, it's just an endless onslaught with dodging and weaving. Is the new Awakened Kinsect Attack any good? It doesn't seem to do much damage for who long the animation takes and the fact that you need to collect your extracts again.
It's just a very awkward attack. Because it launches you at the monster, if you have the helicopter skill on and miss the red you just do the lame hop. It works fine with kinsect glide or whatever its called, but then you cant have diving wyvern on and that sucks
It's okay. Use it with Assist Kinsect to instantly get your Extracts back then you can use it as a gap closer or use it as a way to get two extracts quickly (Awakened into Kinsect Slash), but for the most part IG's stuff that costs wirebugs isn't really that amazing.

It's the MV changes. Lance was seriously weak in Rise, by a massive fricking margin, and then there was Guard actively working against Anchor Rage. Iceborn and Sunbreak lance are my favorite versions of the weapon. Iceborns clutch counter was always just too much fricking fun to do, and Skyward Thrust is brutal on any monster with wings, or a rear up pose, or any huge monster.

Whats MV?
movement value, basically how much of your attack is used to determine a moves damage. For example, The cross slash attack from Insta block was a MV of 50 in Rise, while in Sunbreak it's 70.
All of lances attacks got at least a 20% damage increase with Sunbreak.

The new switch skill gives you pretty much 100% uptime on vials without even running arty, run chain crit with the gaismagorn chest/belt and your regular attack boost/wex/CB/etc on the other slots
the kamura CB line is great since its impact

Metsu Shoryugeki does a stupid amount of KO. You can easily start the fight with a KO by countering the roar.
