I love how almost every single NPC character in Rise have been contributing in one way or the other.
I know this may sound dumb and is probably something nobody actually cares about but I think Sunbreak has the best story in any MH ever. I certainly don't need it for a MH game but I can appreciate it nonetheless. Also follower quests need to be a permanent fixture to the franchise from now on, they're the single best new addition to the series in Sunbreak and completely invalidate village quests.
>I think Sunbreak has the best story in any MH ever
That's a low bar since MH's plots were never that spectacular, especially when comparing to World. But I think this time it's even more enjoyable since every single NPC that stroked your wiener can actually fight on their own and never tries to take your thunder.
Honestly, if Follower Quests were in World, they could have almost single-handedly salvaged the Handler, particularly if she was like Fiorayne and actually helped for Key Quests
>Honestly, if Follower Quests were in World
kinda bummed they weren't, I remember the edgelord guy talking about how "we" defeated teostra together, could have been cool if he was actually on the mission
But they were in World, don't you remember what a big help the Handler was in every hunt? You would've been in a real pickle during that Deviljho hunt if it weren't for her.
It is the best story and it does help the game. It elevates Elgado to a high tier hub/village since the people in it actually fricking help
Monster hunter doesn’t need a story beyond sunbreak. World was too much and nobody gave a frick. Just have cool characters and cool monsters with a cool cutscene introducing a monster like at the end
this. sunbreak gives pretty much all the story you need, big bad monster is terrorizing us, we gotta kill big bad, but wait, there's another big bad!
most people will read the main dialogue and watch the cutscenes, autistic speedrunners will skip everything, loregays will exhaust every single speech bubble after a story update. there's a little something for everyone
world damn near killed my motivation to play with the unskippable cutscenes and A FORCED WALKING SEGMENT
WHO UNIRONICALLY THOUGHT MH NEEDED A FORCED WALKING SEGMENT
uhhhhhh welcome to high rank buddy
why don't you go explore the wastes for the 50th time.......but look for pink rathian poop and grime this time!!!
i don't hate world and think it's a great game but frick me if the cutscenes don't make me wanna kill myself
I didn't remember them being as bad as everyone said they were on my first playthrough then I started a new character and just had to stop after the first couple of hunts, I couldn't take it anymore.
I still think 4U's story was better but Sunbreak's is absolutely elevated by the Follower hunts and it should definitely become a mainstay of the series from here on out.
4U story was also great because it wasn't for once just a "oh no, a stronger foe appear", but the new threats were contestualized with new villages/area needing help Also the battle on the boat acting as both a tutorial and a cutscene while being full gameplay is exactly what MH should be
Honestly, outside of afflicted quests it feels like best g rank expansion to date
to be honest all mh's stories except tri sucks, and tri sucks less because it actually shows how guild bureaucracy can frick up far away places. And moga gal reading about monsters before giving you quest was interesting. But story progression wise ichinoses games were the best, while cinematic experience of 4 and world were the worst.
Best story is by far 4U and Sunbreak's Qurio is just a rehashed frenzy plot device. Maybe if you fought afflicted monsters throughout the story instead of just after Gaismagorm, it would have been better. Actually make it feel like the big bad is affecting the ecosystems negatively like the Magalas.
It's the same fricking plot from every MH game ever. It's boring, generic, cutscene-skip worthy >huh...these tracks....something....is angering the monsters... >no....*anime gasp*...could it be? The flagship.... >*kill flagship* >its dead...and yet....the monsters are still upset...the ancient legends perhaps....nature must preserve.... >*boring big bad story boss appeara* >*anime gasp* it can't be...it's real....hunter go kill it with the dragonator
Every time. Every single time. If you think Rise has a good story or characters it is literally your first MH. >inb4 trannies seethe
Story doesn't belong in MH, but a bad story told 12 times over is still a bad story.
I don't totally agree, but I swear I read that with a stupid grin on my face for the whole time >*anime gasp* it can't be...it's real....hunter go kill it with the dragonator
Ok,now I'm just straight up laughing
being a meta prostitute is not the same as being in a situation where 2 moves work, one does less damage and you pick that one anyway because you dont like to "spam" or whatever
im having fun with bb, its great, havent failed any quests, you can enjoy your 30 minute hunts
GL only needs artillery and load shells anyway so my setup is probably more gimmicky than yours
>Gimmicky >Probably running WW3/Redirection and acting like his quirky build is a gimmick
Honestly, what games used that plot in such an extreme way?
I can only think of 3U basically, but I didn't play World so maybe that too and obviously rise
The final "main story" boss was totally Shagaru, honestly I don't even remember why you fight Dalamadur
2 years ago
Anonymous
You fight dala because it's big and mean and will probably frick something up if left alone
All the story is in the village quests, if the gathering halls have any story at all it usually just amounts to very lightly building up the final boss
2 years ago
Anonymous
Dalamadur is just the lore explanation as to why heaven mount is so fricked geographically, it's just a coincidence that you fight him.
There's no fricking threat from him at all, he sticks to the area he's in and at most causes earthquakes when moving around.
World proves he can move around without fricking shit up to the level of heaven's mount since 2 go to die at the rotten vale.
Heaven's mount is just it's scratching post.
>something angering the monsters
Next plot should start with the people of your village absolutely clowning on monsters for fun and then the big bads show up to punish you (kinda like fatty). Ends with a lesson for the humans
>taking the hunters being sociopaths joke and playing it straight >and having some "hunting bad" message at the end too
I don't know, sounds like it would be too "meta" and edgy for a MH game.
if followers can dynamically learn new behaviors like pawns in dragon's dogma did, that would be great. there were some really obscure things that pawns could adapt , also followers gaining knowledge on quests/monsters/ect
if some of the aspects are already a thing, my bad; im not at sunbreak content yet.
No, each pawn have precise behavior, but I think that the cool part.
Like the crazy gunner girl that only shot explosive shot and never heal etc...
It would be boring if she started to being more normal because its the right thing to do
At least in Rise you're somewhat emotionally connected to the characters and there are some stakes involved. One of the sisters telling you to please save her sister from being mindraped by ibushi was about as actually dramatic as MH has ever been.
World dropped the ball massively in that regard: >hunter go kill xenojiva because >uh >there's too much bioenergy >what's bioenergy? >uh >uh the whole new world will blow up!
yawn
i dont like world but come on anon, the story in both is just handwaivy whatever shit >but shit A has little shit sprinkles
theyre excuses to hunt monsters, and honestly a bit of a waste of code
This. Sort of like how Gore Magala went apeshit because its shell was too tight and started spraying its scales around the region in MH4, causing other monsters to get irate.
I mean, World was too about monster ecology, but I think they went too far to make it "big, bigger!"
Like the infamous bioenergy shit or the "Elders all around come HERE specifically to die, isn't that cool?"
Sunbreak gives a lot of World vibes for me personally, with all the new characters every 3 or 4 quests and them just talking a lot, especially in comparison to base Rise which basically had no cutscenes at all. The good thing here though is that there's no Handler, they're all short and skippable, and they don't force you to start a quest, watch the cutscene, abandon the quest and only now can you do the quest with your friend.
I like the old pre-rendered CG ecology videos of each monster, and I hate the MHX/Rise style ones, they feel like they're on a budget. The best ones are definitely MH4 and World since your character is actually part of those monster intros, the seamless transition is great too.
Bottom line is if my guy/gal is in it and looks cool/cute then it's good, if it's a bunch of people I don't care about talking and you can't skip them then it's bad.
The only time I've ever failed a quest was against a MR Nargacuga and it's only because the other random homosexuals I was playing with carted to it within minutes of each other.
He’s too lazy to wipe everything out at once, he’s a dragon that will live for countless millennia. One country every few decades or centuries is enough for him.
Long Gunlance is boring as frick. Spamming BB and Redirection is AIDS.
Wide is pretty good with the replacement for Wyvern Stake and that shell shell BAM shell combo, though. I think once I get a higher wide I'll swap over completely.
not him but... why? >just dont run long with what makes long strong
i know that you dont have to BB spam with long but then why even play long and not just wide or normal. long IS FOR BB spam.
Because it's one note and boring? >long is for BB spam
The damage difference between the shell types is minimal, long is still the "play how you want" shell type compared to normals aggressive full burst and wides shell stakes and all three use BB well.
You're using EC on every shell type, you can easily put regular stake on the bullet barrage scroll, which is how my normal and long sets are already.
Though I'm pretty sure the damage of EC and wide stake are basically the same anyways.
You can still easily BB.

Could be cool if they added a smash bros stale moves mechanic / armor skill to get you to use all your shit
This sword and the default Tier 10 Kamura ones are easily the best. Kamura doesnt get 50 Def and the 10% affinity but it has way more slots and 10 more damage.
If they didn't want somehting like removing all the elemental attack, it could prevent monsters from applying blights to you with elemental attacks >it would be elderseal 2.0
I mean, isn't waterblight on monster tecnically a monster-wide Clutch claw?
>Elderseal activates and the monster aura disappears >2 seconds later, the monster roars and activates their aura again
Most useless ability in that game.
I will choose to believe this if only because I want to see a comically large Molten Tigrex screaming everyone into dust since it was already pretty big in 4U
>Namielle
What do people see in this monster? The creature design is neat but everything about the fight sucked. I guess since tenderizing isn't a thing maybe it won't be nothing but shitzones this time.
I'm probably in the minority but I still think Rathalos is ass in this game. He just sucks one dick instead of multiple like the others. Kushala was a vast improvement. This is the first game I actually liked farming it.
i think he's pretty great, finally gets to show off what being king of the skies means with a billion breath attacks and his G-rank moves are nice too
I can see how he'd be a piece of shit if you had a low hitting weapon like hammer or DB
I've been using Hammer in Rise and it's still the first time I've ever actually had fun fighting Rathalos in the entire series, to the point that I grinded for his set.
I'm a Risebab who uses Hammer, and Rathalos is a fine fight; he lands often enough for me to smash his head, and even if he stays in the air I can just Spinning Silkbind Bludgeon him down
Namielle fits a niche of water elder (and water monster in general) with a fricking amazing design. Fight was pretty ass but it can easily be reworked since the monster is flexible >dry/wet states >water patches >water beams and AOE >lightning and flying
They can rework the move set.
Armor looks good too
>Rukodiora, a Frontier Forward monster - not an early Frontier monster, like Akura Vashimu or Berukyurosu >a green Mizutsune alternate, when we already know it's fire (and probably Soulseer at that) >Namielle in TU1, when literally NOTHING datamined even hints at the fact
100% bullshit
Frontier Season 1's only OC monsters were Hypnocatrice and Lavasioth, neither of whom are exactly "boxart material", so they put Teostra on the cover as the Flagship.
Here’s a handy list of every unique monster in Frontier by season! Not including HC monsters, Supremacy monsters, or Zenith monsters (there are a lot of these though).

god damn they all look so much like low effort palette swaps and reused assets. years later though seeing them come out in rise and probably future games I actually appreciate them for their creativity.
Frontier was literally just modded Dos, I’m surprised they did as much with it as they did. Especially backporting monsters like the Magalas and Seregios.
For people wondering why they would put two Espinas variants in the title updates, this right here. When the subspecies and rare species were present in the same zone together they could perform some cool bond attacks.
Vashimu and Pariapuria aren’t title update material though. The earliest Frontier monsters that could be considered worthy of being added as endgame monsters are Berukyurosu (Doragyurosu would be better but I don’t see him coming without Beru first), Laviente (dear god no), or Unknown (definitely a possibility too). I expect more of the early guys to start showing up in MH6, but for the time being I could see them adding one cheeky little late game Frontier monster to Rise. Ruko came in the first Forward season anyway, so it’s still very early in the game’s life span.
>make the most obnoxious Rathian to date with MR Rathian >turbo up the bullshit with Gold Rathian
I sure can't wait to chase an HP sponge all over the map for 30 minutes.
It knows how to drag out the fight as long as possible now. b***h just charges from one end of the area to the other, only stopping to spin like a moron in mid air once in a while. Maybe I just have bad luck with what moves monsters choose but it seems like Rathian never stops running away.
Does she just hold still for you? She barely even engages me, just fricks about flying and running like she's trying to kite me or something. Most monsters it feels like an actual fight but with Rathian it feels like she just wants to leave.
So apparently it’s possible to kill Gavlosofjsjdk during the ballista phase while he’s climbing the wall. I wonder if it’s possible for Fio’s giga Shoryugeki to land the finishing blow.

The Naja lance is one of my favorite lance designs alongside Silver Rath and I'm continuously disappointed that it's only appeared in two (g-rank) games so far.
They don't like giving the debilitating status effects to high tier monsters because getting trapped in a one two punch by anything rathalos level or higher would be really painful
the modding scene for rise is great, but when im looking at all the ported mods from world/IB. i kinda want to play IB again. but then i remember how different it feels to rise and id rather not. seriously why did they have to make rise so fricking ugly in comparison bros
Yeah but kirin are rare enough so a rajang doesn't possibly need to keep eating horns to stay like that (at least not too often)
It would be a super rare occurance, but a rajang beating an hald dead elder (for any reason) could get the power
3U also had stuff from P3rd. Tri had 18 monsters total but 3U had 51 total, so 22 of the monsters it added were already in P3rd. 3U was intended to be a G Rank for both Tri and P3rd IIRC, since they were actually very different games unlike Dos and P2nd where P2nd had every monster Dos did except Yama Tsukami.
Iceborne added 35 iirc. It had 27 at launch and they added 8 monsters over time (Rajang, Stygian Zinogre, Safi’jiiva, Furious Rajang, Raging Brachydios, Alatreon, Frostfang Barioth, and Fatalis).
So how exactly does Blood Rite work? Does its heal effect increase with damage dealt? Does something like a Greatsword heal more than Dual Blades for example?
yes.
About the difference, one hit of GS will heal more, but you will hit more then 1 time with DB
I remember in the leaks we had all those skills with the exact numbers and it was a % of the damage you deal, reduce for ranged weapons
Sorry anon this number is for P3rd to 3U not Tri. I felt that would be a bit unfair since a lot of 3U's content comes from P3rd. If you're interested the jump between Tri and 3U is 33
>your personality type is: Lagiacrus >you went to a party and everyone loved you, but now nobody invite you anymore because you tend to break things around

why the frick would you use any other weapon
You mean in general or with the last one?
I remember during the base Rise he said the endgame was doing rampages to upgrade the weapons and everyone would wear Allmother armor because it gave free thunderblight to monsters (lol)
>Already hearing people complaining that monsters are delaying attacks way too much
Oh great, I hope this doesn't end up like FromSoft games discussions
Actually origin species isn't too far fetched
At the start of mr6 admiral tells you that something draws even stronger monsters here, so having origin monsters to start migrating could be cool
Origin and Burst monsters were interesting but I get why Frontier dropped them. Musous and Zeniths had a lot more potential since they were more vague about what they actually were. Origin and Burstcwere exactly what hey said on the tin.
Conceptually speaking, origin, burst, lone species and whatnot are just simple answers to reusing old designs with new element and/or gimmicks because traditionally a monster can only have one subspecies and one rare species. Really don't have to think that far into this.
Why do World players constantly talk about Fatalis?
it's like every time they want to defend their game they always go "muh fatalis"
there are much better monsters than the fatalis, hell, world never even got the white fatalis.
I'd rather see cooler monsters come back, like gogmazios, akantor, ukanlos, amatsu, and maybe some other smaller monsters like zamtrios, narjalala, and the seltas's
He was the best monster in Iceborne and seeing people getting filtered was pretty funny.
I just hope we get another insanely hard fight as the last title update in Sunbreak.
This is why: >look up information on Tri/4/Gen/GenU >"OH YOU CAN FIND (THING) IN (PLACE EXCLUSIVE TO WORLD) >"We're talking about (Tri/4/Gen/U), moron." >"OH, WELL WORLD IS BETTER GAME, NEVER HEARD OF THOSE OTHERS. MONSTER HUNTER IS SO NEW LOL!!!"
Was World a mistake???
SNS bros, what has been feeling good for you as far as weapons and armor go? I have Golm sword and I'm using mostly early MR hunter gear still in MR4. Trying to find full sets that are fun to farm and havegood skills
I just switched to SnS instead. Put on Wide Range and now I can bonk heads while providing support with unsheathed heals/flashes/whatever. I hope MH6 brings back classic HH.
I'm about to kill Malzeno in Sunbreak and so far there isn't single bad fight.
Seriously, not a single fight made me want to kill myself like some in previous games, not even Almudron and the fire subspecies.
Because they're all piss easy. Longest fight for me in Sunbreak was 24 minutes on Rajang. Whst should be harder fights like Malzeno, Shagaru, etc were all sub 15 first time. Not even using stupid Attack 7, Crit 7, Wex 3, CB 3 meta sets, just comfy utility with some levels of attack.
>stats
what?
Anyway, just get artillery. The rest depend of your playstyle, the more raw moves you use, the more you may need the classic crit skills
Guard package may be useful for the counter, if you like to use that a lot
obviously artillery and load shells
wirebug whisperer
guard/guard up for comfy (can get by with guard 3 guard up 1)
redirection for more bugs
the rest as you see fit, standard melee skills will increase your damage but returns are much smaller then with other weapons cause shelling
if you dont want to BB spam WW goes a little lower in priority
It's also probably the best looking weapon in the game. I'll likely keep using it at times for that alone.

A new type of variant Frontier trialled for a few updates. Conceptually they are meant to look futuristic and incorporate elements of a tool into the design (in the case of that Diablos one, a stove), and in-universe they’re meant to be hyper adapted relatives of the base species that represent what the rest of the species could look like in millions of years time. After Burst Species they tried Origin Species which were basically the opposote, they’re relatives of modern monsters that haven’t changed at all from their shared ancestor millions of years ago, and design wise they tend to have plants and shit growing on them and look like they’re part of the land itself.
I could totally see something similar to origin species (but done in a non-frontier style) for the next MH
If it's really going to be world 2, they can't possibly lose the chance to make their dinosaurs even more ancient looking. Possibly even retcon some other mons into dinosaurs >future species
Unironically something that hopefully stay in frontier. I can't see them work at all as a concept in mainline MH
Not being able to discerne some frontier design from some borderline mainline design is stupid

The literal design philosophy for them was combining an existing monster with a tool/appliance. Valsablos is a Diablos mixed with a stove. I'm dead fricking serious.
The literal design philosophy for them was combining an existing monster with a tool/appliance. Valsablos is a Diablos mixed with a stove. I'm dead fricking serious.
The entire Frontier cast can work in mainline. Just hide the crazier ones behind event quests. I seriously can't believe so many people don't actually want to hunt all these unique monsters, I'd hate to think the mh player base is actually this far up their own ass.
I checked all the frontier monsters and some of them are way too ridiculous like that one or almost every Zenith monster.
But I can see the majority of them in mainline games.
For every Frontier monster that would fit perfectly into mainline there's another that would feel completely out of place. The design philosophies between mainline and Frontier simply diverged too much.
What did they give to MR Rajang? Did they make a wienertail of pepsi coke and chocolate? I failed 2 hunts in a row. 2 randos got 1 tapped by a normal kamehameha, can't even imagine how hard super saiyan would hit
Man I fricking hate Rajang, evey single fricking game that piece of shit comes and ruin the fun for me, I can't say which is my favorite monster but certainly I can say 100% my most hated monster is Rajang and its variant, and what pains me more is that I'm all alone on that hate.
i think you are right. Even if i failed 2 of his quests i just can't be mad at the boy. I really really like the monkey. The thrashing about, the kamehameha, the super mode that can be disabled by jamming stuff in his butt. I honestly can't understand why you hate him. In a game filled with rath and his variants there are few monkeys. Congala doesn't do it the same for me and bishanten is just an afterthought
Wow a fricking monkey hammer is the best in the game before the MR100 hammer. Peak Pronged Hammer is broken. >purple sharpness out the ass with a buff >Rampage Slot 3 for Kushala Gem to get affinity on your B combo >has fricking Blast on top of a generous 320 raw
I literally frick up A 4* monsters without issue with this thing. I knew blast hammers would still be king in this game
I don't even bother unless I already have high affinity from other shit
Rather have some comfy skills than worry about max damage and nothing lasts longer than 10 minutes with what I've already got
WEX is litterally a 12.5% buff even with no CB, nerf that for a start and it's already better.
something like giving 5/10/15% crit and 3/6/9% more raw
Also nerf CB a bit, like maxing at 1.37 or something
Now you have CB as a decent tech skill for weapons that already have an high crit rate but it feel less mandatory number are some shit I made up right now, they can and should be moved around a bit
>evade extender on lance >evade extender THREE on lance
this is legitimately a dps down that costs skill points. you have other mobility tools other than the hop
EE is nice enough on Lance if you happen to have it on your charm or whatever but you only want 1-2 points. 3 fricks with positioning too hard for sure.
I can't use any EE on lance because I want to hop to reset my combos. if I have EE on I go flying out of range, and forward hops aren't always reliable either

No? You can loop sweeps and charged counters forever if you want. The charged counter does nearly as much damage as a sweep in the first place.
Anonymous
but if you combo reset with the counter you're forced to go counter -> charged sweep -> poke -> reset
if you hop reset you can go charged sweep -> poke -> charged sweep -> reset which does a lot more damage in the long run

Use the new shield tackle to reset combos. Does stun + damage, is extremely quick, and can change direction 180 degrees.
For me the thing that really ruined the FFE thing was the whole "upgrade your skills with those random minievents one at the time but only 10 out of 50 are good"
not that the rest was super great either
>Pokemon company would never allow it
True.
And in general, they aren't making many spinoff recently, the DS era was truly a golden age for that
It was really only the G Rank designs that sucked, you look at everything up to Frontier Forward and it looks like Gen 1 and 2 mainline stuff. I think they got a new art director or something for Frontier G, which explains why the designs went to shit with a few exceptions like Toridcress or Barlagual.
Does anyone know how to get the rank 10 Royal Order weapons?
I'm trying to get my claymore upgraded but it's locked to me, is it further in the MR ranks (currently 53), or is it some follower mission, because I did fugens twin magnamalo and didn't get it.
The gun lances new skill makes monsters rideable when hit.
Is that a common thing in rise? What other weapons have that? You just can blast any monster wandering around and take them straight to whoever your hunting. Pretty cool.
All Silkbinds that deal damage can do that, non-target monsters have insanely low Wyvern Riding thresholds so one strong hit can make them rideable instantly
>Make Pierce HBG to cheese afflicted monsters by wrecking multiple glowy bits >Feel like an butthole because now the monster is just chasing me all over the room
Frick
I'm at HR right now, shall I just start with sunbreak? Grinding ranks isn't exactly exciting so far and these apex rampages suck ass (all rampages suck ass)
The new shield tackle has the blue flash on it by default. It has tiny recovery and can quickly be chained into a counter thrust. Since the recovery is so quick, you can block/insta block basically seamlessly after it.
I don't get it, after getting SB I feel like I'm missing a lot more inputs with GL to get the stake/full burst out >use the wireart that boost shelling >end up with a normal shot istead of the stake >slam the GL on the ground >shot a single shot
Is the timing a bit more strict or I just got more moronic?
>>end up with a normal shot istead of the stake
Are you pressing the wrong button or what? Just hitting triangle does it all the time
I'm only having trouble when I have to hit Ttriangle+Circle, frickin hate that awkward press being part of the como
I want a monster hunter game that starts with an elder dragon causing some huge calamity and LR is just your character trying to survive the ongoing apocalypse while trapped inside a huge city. Beginning of the game would be very linear until you meet up with other survivors and create a little outpost. A lot of the facilities would be missing and many quests are about rescuing key people so you can unlock said facilities.
The city would be cut off from the outside world (maybe due to some literal elder dragon fire wall surrounding it) so you got to figure out a way to signal for help and escape. Perhaps your character isn't even an official hunter yet so you can't do any fancy moves at first. Escaping the city would then be where you enter HR and the game turns back into a more traditional monster hunter game.
I'd like some MH games with traditional gameplay but with weird gimmicks like this instead of what they keep doing, I remember Yoko Taro also had an idea for a MH game that he posted after playing Rise that was something like powering down over the course of the game after your hunter getting injured and people in the town dying off which sealed normally available town options.
The linear part in the beginning would be pretty short, similar to world's intro probably. Once you set up base it would still have a pick-your-own-question structure like regular monster hunter. Only difference being a lot of the early quests might not relate to hunting monsters at first.
the numbers on charge master are absolutely abysmal. chain crit works much better and is a flat bonus to both raw and elemental instead of a tiny percentage to just element/status.
Courage charges faster depending on which hit in the charge combo you're in, making the second hit take maybe half a second to charge, and the third hit is always fully charged, damage, elemental damage, status build up, and exhaust values were increased on damn near every attack in it as well.
it seems to me like they completely made power irrelevant in favor of courage, is this actually the case? I'm trying to find a reason to switch to blue scroll but courage and impact burst does everything I need
>it seems to me like they completely made power irrelevant in favor of courage
No, power was buffed to shit as well and does more damage and it's not even a question.
Courage is almost as good though, it's fun, it's new, so people want to use it. It might be better for elemental memes, though.
>Hunting MR Teo >in the middle of the fight my Gathering Palico pulls endemic life >rolls an sleepytoad >sleepy toad fricks off then she proceeds to roll Lottery >she pulls a fricking Kitternator
Did you finish all the side quests?
Did you unlock all the sub camps?
Did you finish all the hunts?
Did you finish all the arenas?
Did you finish all the challenges?
Did you find all the collectible?
Did you are at least on MR and weapon from each weapon type?
Did you craft at least one of each craftable item?
Did you train up all possible pets?
If no, then you’re not close to being done.
Keep playing to make sure you’re 100% prepared for whatever the true true final boss will be in the last title update god I hope they give us something cool like IB Fatalis and don’t just finish with Afflicted Furious Rajang
Hammer Bros, are you using the new switch skill buff that goes in impact hammer's slot?
I feel like swapping over to it every 30 seconds is annoying as frick and I feel like I'd rather use the bug on another Keeping Sway anyways, but I'm curious if I'm leaving a lot of damage on the table.
I just have impact crater on a strength charge loadout and switch to it when the monster is down or when I know the monster has some consistent impact crater opening when it's moving, like malzeno
what's funny is I picked up hammer yesterday for the first time and bodied the shit out of everything that gave me trouble, then went back to farm him for parts and he 3 carted me twice.
I was seething, but I guess it goes to show I don't know the weapon and I don't know his fight well. I got ball dropped on twice like a moron.
He's a fantastic hammer fight, there is not a single attack you can't punish if he's attacking you and it feels like nearly your whole moveset has a reasonable use
I encourage you to try him a couple more times and see what you can discover
Oh, I will. I played DB and HH in base Rise. I don't feel like farming 2334934534 sets for DB now that ele is in, and honestly HH's new moves are really kinda shit. Trying to land an egg on these monsters that jump around (https://youtu.be/XhzpxjuwZy0) is AIDS.
I tried SA, GL, and while fun, I can't believe I slept on hammer. I play boost hammer in GE so I dunno why I didn't try it here.
*farts in OP's mouth*
No they don't you silly b***h
I just want Anjanath to drop his mantle but the shit has a 5% drop rate according to Fextralife. FRICK!
>according to Fextralife
the in-game bestiary is unironically better than this shit
>Fextralife
Friendly reminder to add -fextralife to all of your Iceborne/Sunbreak searches.
She wants to frick
Im already going to impregnate the Smith.
Holy shit a talking gowngoat
My wife
I love how almost every single npc character in Rise have been contributing in one way or the other.
I know this may sound dumb and is probably something nobody actually cares about but I think Sunbreak has the best story in any MH ever. I certainly don't need it for a MH game but I can appreciate it nonetheless. Also follower quests need to be a permanent fixture to the franchise from now on, they're the single best new addition to the series in Sunbreak and completely invalidate village quests.
The story in Sunbreak is great because it knows its place
Having AI companions that fight alongside with you during important quests makes it feel a lot more personal
They almost had Followers in World...
I liked Ace Cadet helping out briefly in the first phase, but it wouldn't feel right to beat Fatalis non-solo
This is a Rise thread. Stop talking about the older title.
4U did it first, and you had a whole team
funny enough, you ALSO had ace cadet in 4u ahah
4U story was also great because it wasn't for once just a "oh no, a stronger foe appear", but the new threats were contestualized with new villages/area needing help
Also the battle on the boat acting as both a tutorial and a cutscene while being full gameplay is exactly what MH should be
Worlds story is a masterpiece. On a different level from other MH games.
Afflicted are great. Only seen shitters complaining about the HP values but I'm still killing them inside of 6 minutes.
Best story is by far 4U and Sunbreak's Qurio is just a rehashed frenzy plot device. Maybe if you fought afflicted monsters throughout the story instead of just after Gaismagorm, it would have been better. Actually make it feel like the big bad is affecting the ecosystems negatively like the Magalas.
hmmm idk about that but yeah it's pretty gamey and fun
I'm sorry but nothing can top Tri
It's the same fricking plot from every MH game ever. It's boring, generic, cutscene-skip worthy
>huh...these tracks....something....is angering the monsters...
>no....*anime gasp*...could it be? The flagship....
>*kill flagship*
>its dead...and yet....the monsters are still upset...the ancient legends perhaps....nature must preserve....
>*boring big bad story boss appeara*
>*anime gasp* it can't be...it's real....hunter go kill it with the dragonator
Every time. Every single time. If you think Rise has a good story or characters it is literally your first MH.
>inb4 trannies seethe
Story doesn't belong in MH, but a bad story told 12 times over is still a bad story.
I don't totally agree, but I swear I read that with a stupid grin on my face for the whole time
>*anime gasp* it can't be...it's real....hunter go kill it with the dragonator
Ok,now I'm just straight up laughing
>Gimmicky
>Probably running WW3/Redirection and acting like his quirky build is a gimmick
>the balista doesn't shot like that in the game
It does now lol
no im running Bull 3 and Big Dick 5 while i have sex with your mom
>no bull secret for bull 5
Never gonna make it, that's why you're fricking his mom (low rank fight)
how can his mom be LR if she afflicted
Honestly, what games used that plot in such an extreme way?
I can only think of 3U basically, but I didn't play World so maybe that too
and obviously rise
Atleast you can skip it this time, who ever though Worlds story should be unskipable should be fricking shot in the head
But pard, you can't skip the important parts!
This is why MH4 has the best story because the final boss is the flagship but powered up
The final boss was Dalamadur.
Final hub boss*
There's barely a story there, it's mostly the village quests
The final "main story" boss was totally Shagaru, honestly I don't even remember why you fight Dalamadur
You fight dala because it's big and mean and will probably frick something up if left alone
All the story is in the village quests, if the gathering halls have any story at all it usually just amounts to very lightly building up the final boss
Ends with a lesson for the humans
>taking the hunters being sociopaths joke and playing it straight
>and having some "hunting bad" message at the end too
I don't know, sounds like it would be too "meta" and edgy for a MH game.
I can tell by your knowledge and boiling anger you have done a lot of siege quests
if followers can dynamically learn new behaviors like pawns in dragon's dogma did, that would be great. there were some really obscure things that pawns could adapt , also followers gaining knowledge on quests/monsters/ect
if some of the aspects are already a thing, my bad; im not at sunbreak content yet.
World dropped the ball massively in that regard:
>hunter go kill xenojiva because
>uh
>there's too much bioenergy
>what's bioenergy?
>uh
>uh the whole new world will blow up!
yawn
i dont like world but come on anon, the story in both is just handwaivy whatever shit
>but shit A has little shit sprinkles
theyre excuses to hunt monsters, and honestly a bit of a waste of code
I like Sunbreak's story because it goes back to being focused on weird monster ecology
Bottom line is if my guy/gal is in it and looks cool/cute then it's good, if it's a bunch of people I don't care about talking and you can't skip them then it's bad.
>the Dalamadur intro
>THE SHAH DALAMADUR INTRO

glad japs are adding dicky NPCs back in the game
*gives her cloudwine*
Grimalkyne
So do shit players and they're all on this board.
BOGGIS ILL LIKE FIRE
Monster Hunter Rise? More like Monster Hunter Rice, holy shit there's so many garbage chink players in this game.
pharo > fiorayne > smith > luchika
>MR Magnamalo
this homie did one tail stab and hit me from full to 10%.
him and steve aren't fricking around
What's the deal with this? Do they want us to bird up? Not want us to bird up? Hope these damn birds don't return next time.
>play funlance
>fight Mr magnamalo
>homie just flies around
>boost over
>he flies away
>get hit
>10% health
>gotta pot
Annoying to say the least
The only time I've ever failed a quest was against a MR Nargacuga and it's only because the other random homosexuals I was playing with carted to it within minutes of each other.
I did it, I saved Chichae's Kingdom.
do it again
Is he in the game?
What's up with this homie? Schrade is fricking dead for 20 years and he's still flaming it.
A dragon's grudge is long and relentless
He just REALLY hates humanity.
schrade isn't the whole of humanity tho
He’s too lazy to wipe everything out at once, he’s a dragon that will live for countless millennia. One country every few decades or centuries is enough for him.
>says this while chugging god knows how many potions
lmao
Its the game's fault for allowing the player to mindlessly without any kind of punishment. This Game is too easy.
Long Gunlance is boring as frick. Spamming BB and Redirection is AIDS.
Wide is pretty good with the replacement for Wyvern Stake and that shell shell BAM shell combo, though. I think once I get a higher wide I'll swap over completely.
This but other way around
I too enjoy a less enjoyable version of hammer IC spam
This but more enjoyable and very cool looking and much better feeling than wide shell spam version
So just don't fricking run a BB spam build on long?
not him but... why?
>just dont run long with what makes long strong
i know that you dont have to BB spam with long but then why even play long and not just wide or normal. long IS FOR BB spam.
Because it's one note and boring?
>long is for BB spam
The damage difference between the shell types is minimal, long is still the "play how you want" shell type compared to normals aggressive full burst and wides shell stakes and all three use BB well.
wide doesnt really BB, between having to use erupting and keeping GS up
You're using EC on every shell type, you can easily put regular stake on the bullet barrage scroll, which is how my normal and long sets are already.
Though I'm pretty sure the damage of EC and wide stake are basically the same anyways.
You can still easily BB.
Yes you can play badly with any style but why would you, you even said you dont like to spam bb
>If you're not playing maximum efficient you're playing bad
You are everything wrong with the monster hunter fanbase.
Enjoy your boring, one note playstyle I guess. Can't wait for all the whining when lv9 shelling never happens while raw numbers climb and people realize BB spam wasn't that good to begin with.
based moron
The only moron here is you.
based moron
>not playing with fun gimmicky setups like max evade extender full stamina setup dual blades
You're the kind who triple carts on every other quest huh?
being a meta prostitute is not the same as being in a situation where 2 moves work, one does less damage and you pick that one anyway because you dont like to "spam" or whatever
im having fun with bb, its great, havent failed any quests, you can enjoy your 30 minute hunts
GL only needs artillery and load shells anyway so my setup is probably more gimmicky than yours
>tfw Blood Rite, Quick Breath, Bubbly Dance, Dereliction, Dango Shifter setup
God it feels so good.
Could be cool if they added a smash bros stale moves mechanic / armor skill to get you to use all your shit
It's not nice to make fun of metaslaves, anon
POST FASHION
What sword is that?
I just unlocked the Abyssal and it's so fricking ugly
You get it from Galleus's follower questline
Incredibly stats.
That's a big chunk of defense.
This sword and the default Tier 10 Kamura ones are easily the best. Kamura doesnt get 50 Def and the 10% affinity but it has way more slots and 10 more damage.
I like kamura slightly more stat-wise, but I might just swap to this for the fashion and never having to sharpen again
>Lets see Richards take down an Elder Dragon using cavemen weaponry! Fool! He shall always be always be inferior to Doom!
Set?
>he doesn't know mosgharl

>finally get recruited by a hunter, ready to kill some monsters
>they immediately make you start crossdressing in frilly dresses
>identical cats
love mods
why not use commission for the arms instead of hunter? fingerless gloves look off considering the rest of the outfit imho
Very cool huntars 🙂
Thanks
Good point, Honestly forgot to change off of them since I made this set while converting another.
Here
Espinas hair is kinda homosexual byt the set goes well with LR tetranodon parts
Which armor pieces are you using? I've not unlocked any of them so far, are they all follower quest unlocks?
Low rank Rathian Helmet
Alloy chest
Ingot waist
Hunter gloves but I swapped for Snowshear Braces
Alloy Greaves
Everything but the gloves are Low/High rank.
I chuckled a little bit
I am making you consciously aware of Elderseal again.
I raise you one better
You now remember wystones
I didn't really have a problem with it, mostly because I had no idea what it did and just ignored it when picking a weapon
I just realized that Dragonblight doesn't exist for monsters because if it did, it would be just Elderseal: Rise edition.
it does though, it prevents your weapon from dealing elemental damage
If they didn't want somehting like removing all the elemental attack, it could prevent monsters from applying blights to you with elemental attacks
>it would be elderseal 2.0
I mean, isn't waterblight on monster tecnically a monster-wide Clutch claw?
>Mechanic straight up doesn't work properly
>Never got addressed
What was the point?
>Elderseal activates and the monster aura disappears
>2 seconds later, the monster roars and activates their aura again
Most useless ability in that game.
>Left side clear
>Right side clear
>Good to go!
>it came to me in a dream
the first guy is right, giving the exact page is for submissives wienersuckers
Incredibly boring if true besides Rukodiora and Amatsu
Amatsu would feel really redundant at this point, especially as the final update monster
I will choose to believe this if only because I want to see a comically large Molten Tigrex screaming everyone into dust since it was already pretty big in 4U
>Metal Raths not in the same update
>Frontier shitmon
>Fricking Amatsu
You almost had it gay
>Frontier shitmon
Espinas is already in the game.

What do people see in this monster? The creature design is neat but everything about the fight sucked. I guess since tenderizing isn't a thing maybe it won't be nothing but shitzones this time.
Plenty of fights that sucked dick in World and other games got better in Rise, just look at Rathalos and Kushala.
I'm probably in the minority but I still think Rathalos is ass in this game. He just sucks one dick instead of multiple like the others. Kushala was a vast improvement. This is the first game I actually liked farming it.
Rath feels amazing to fight with IG in Rise
I don't use IG so I'll have to give that a shot sometime. Maybe that'll make it feel better.
i think he's pretty great, finally gets to show off what being king of the skies means with a billion breath attacks and his G-rank moves are nice too
I can see how he'd be a piece of shit if you had a low hitting weapon like hammer or DB
DB is more aerial now than IG.
i don't believe it bruv
I've been using Hammer in Rise and it's still the first time I've ever actually had fun fighting Rathalos in the entire series, to the point that I grinded for his set.
I'm a Risebab who uses Hammer, and Rathalos is a fine fight; he lands often enough for me to smash his head, and even if he stays in the air I can just Spinning Silkbind Bludgeon him down
dragon DBs eat raths alive
Namielle fits a niche of water elder (and water monster in general) with a fricking amazing design. Fight was pretty ass but it can easily be reworked since the monster is flexible
>dry/wet states
>water patches
>water beams and AOE
>lightning and flying
They can rework the move set.
Armor looks good too
>nothing but shitzones this time
No problem
Yeah, whenever I farmed Nami I started using CB and GL.
Namielle's "weak when dry" gimmick would've worked if they made it actually weak and not Chameleos tier tanky after drying out
Wirebug Hanging gets a combat use.
Do we really need three variations of Expinas? Where's Yama?
>Rukodiora, a Frontier Forward monster - not an early Frontier monster, like Akura Vashimu or Berukyurosu
>a green Mizutsune alternate, when we already know it's fire (and probably Soulseer at that)
>Namielle in TU1, when literally NOTHING datamined even hints at the fact
100% bullshit
>Soulseer
Anon they’ve said nothing about deviants returning, it’s not gonna happen.
There is no functional difference between variants and deviants if you get rid of the moronic tickets
>tfw the Rampage monsters are already the deviants
Why’s Teostra there?
Frontier Season 1's only OC monsters were Hypnocatrice and Lavasioth, neither of whom are exactly "boxart material", so they put Teostra on the cover as the Flagship.
He was the flagship of Frontier 1.0, the only original monsters in 1.0 were Hypnocatrice and Lavasioth who weren’t really flagship worthy.

god damn they all look so much like low effort palette swaps and reused assets. years later though seeing them come out in rise and probably future games I actually appreciate them for their creativity.
Frontier was literally just modded Dos, I’m surprised they did as much with it as they did. Especially backporting monsters like the Magalas and Seregios.
The Akura scorpions were cool as frick to fight and with cool as frick I mean terribly gimmicky with the crystal status and instant death.
honestly hope that's fake, how many monster slots are they going to waste on gore
Espinas domination
For people wondering why they would put two Espinas variants in the title updates, this right here. When the subspecies and rare species were present in the same zone together they could perform some cool bond attacks.
Why wouldn't they just let Espinas and Brown Espinas do that instead?
>Namielle
i'm out, it's enough that i triple cart to a fricking emo izuchi
>rukodiora
Capcom isn't cool enough to do this so early, especially before the likes of Vashimu or Pariapuria
Ruko came in the first Forward season anyway, so it’s still very early in the game’s life span.
>make the most obnoxious Rathian to date with MR Rathian
>turbo up the bullshit with Gold Rathian
I sure can't wait to chase an HP sponge all over the map for 30 minutes.
Aw jeez I'm gonna have to retrain my muscle memory for the exploding bites again
>>>make the most obnoxious Rathian to date with MR Rathian
Bro, it's just a fricking rathian? It doesn't even do anything but die?
It knows how to drag out the fight as long as possible now. b***h just charges from one end of the area to the other, only stopping to spin like a moron in mid air once in a while. Maybe I just have bad luck with what moves monsters choose but it seems like Rathian never stops running away.
I’m beginning to suspect we’re all playing different versions of the game
That new running flip thing has some annoying tracking but otherwise rathian's still MH's bicycle
The only bad thing about MR Rathian is her insane tracking, other than that she just dies.
Does she just hold still for you? She barely even engages me, just fricks about flying and running like she's trying to kite me or something. Most monsters it feels like an actual fight but with Rathian it feels like she just wants to leave.
Source: Fiorayne's Ass
Is it me or is that double magnamalo hunt wth Fugen complete and utter horsewiener?
But Black personmalo isn’t all that hard. Just stick close and dodge
Some idiot in the last post was talking about MR6. There is no MR6 in SB.
Which low tier monster do you want to get the Yian Garuga treatment in TUs?
(You) think the followers are testing for the pawn system in DD2? It really feels like it.
>afflicted basarios
ROLLING AROUND AT THE SPEED OF SOUND
What is the best skill and why is it redirection?
How generous is the window on the dodge?
Pretty damn tight. I'm not 100% sure but I think it's the brief blue flash when you first press the combo?
What homosexual weapon are you discussing? LS, troony Glave, homosexual Horn, Cuck n Shield, Lesbian Blowjob Gun?
It's an armor skill so you can inject your weird weapon wars into another post
homosexual horn user detected
yeah
Seregios subspecies when?
That's something I expect to happen in a TU along with a Zinogre rare species
So apparently it’s possible to kill Gavlosofjsjdk during the ballista phase while he’s climbing the wall. I wonder if it’s possible for Fio’s giga Shoryugeki to land the finishing blow.
HOLY FRICK GUYS SWITCH AXE IS SO AMAZING GOD I LOVE IT SO MUCH
Slicemargl
Nergigonga
What the frick were they thinking with Gore Magalas armor skills!
Anyone else forget to use Demondrug/Powder 99% of the time?
I haven't played MH since GU and I have no idea how attack buffs work anymore. Back in my day, we ate our might seeds every 3 minutes and we liked it.
I finally caved in and got rise + the dlc.
How is Swaxe and SnS?
swaxe is actually god-tier
2 of the best weapons in the game, finding a good compromise between being strong, feeling good and being fun
Swaxe is genuinely the best its ever been. SnS is okay but I havent dabbled with it too much
I don't like afflicted monsters
There should be more snake monsters.
If Almudron already spergs out in uneven terrain, imagine snake wyverns
I just want a snake monster to ouroboros itself and then roll at me for 80% HP + stun.
>invent snake wyvern category
>make najarala as a snake wyvern
>reclassify remobras as snake wyverns
>make najarala suvspecies
>make several more snakelike monsters, including one that shares several of najarala's animations
>none of them are snake wyverns
>never include najarala in another game
what was the fricking point of it then
>Dalamadur exists
Maybe it counts?
it and the orgysnakes are elders
The Naja lance is one of my favorite lance designs alongside Silver Rath and I'm continuously disappointed that it's only appeared in two (g-rank) games so far.
I just want it as a decent batch of paralyze weapons again
Almost nothing beyond early game shitters ever has that status
They don't like giving the debilitating status effects to high tier monsters because getting trapped in a one two punch by anything rathalos level or higher would be really painful
the modding scene for rise is great, but when im looking at all the ported mods from world/IB. i kinda want to play IB again. but then i remember how different it feels to rise and id rather not. seriously why did they have to make rise so fricking ugly in comparison bros
>he doesn't know the MHW Followers mod
I got that reference
The hitstop on swaxe's counter is a bit excessive
I bet it's to try to counteract how OP it is.
It looks fricking cool though
K so we've all agreed that Shaggy jobs to Nergigante (since he's bigger and has way more muscle mass).
Does he job to Rajang as well?
>we
Shaggy got buff af for Sunbreak though
this dlc was a fricking rip off
you wanted your classic mon hun right? you got a classic g rank expac :^)
I don't know, I've been getting my money's worth, and I am still not halfway done of what I want to finish.
thats why you dont buy the base game until the dlc comes out and you get both for the same price you would have paid for just the base game at release
any mods that boost FPS? for some reason SB fricked my shit up so bad.
>7 minute kill times on everything in SB so far
>gore took 18 minutes
I wonder if my weapon is just shit or am I moronic
Guys, what if voljang?
I mean, tecnically speaking a fire and ice Rajang could totally exist in mainline, he just need to eat some Kushala/teostra horn
That's debatable, normal rajang hunts kirins already because he's immune to thunder attacks
Yeah but kirin are rare enough so a rajang doesn't possibly need to keep eating horns to stay like that (at least not too often)
It would be a super rare occurance, but a rajang beating an hald dead elder (for any reason) could get the power
Voljang being an origin species means they are the ancestors to Rajang.
Holy shit twin vine is so good for afflicted mons, those frickers do nothing but run back and forth across the entire area
how is gore magala 4 star but bazel is 5
because gore is a shitter who's weaker than rath?
And was since 4
Gore is literally a baby
Gore is litterally a raging blind elder child
In old games Gore was Rathalos tier.
Even then, don't take the stars in Rise too seriously since it's absolutely moronic compared to other games.
Gore is like a Village 3 or 4* quest in 4U
What monsters are in 6 Star MR?
Gaismagorm
Wind Serpent Ibushi
Narwa the Allmother (regular Narwa is HR only)
Crimson Glow Valstrax
Furious Rajang
Scorned Magnamalo
And presumably everything added in the updates.
So 3U added 11 new large monsters
4U added 23
Iceborne added 31
and Rise added 17
If Rise follows the same pattern/consistency of releases that post iceborne launch did we really wont be getting close to 25.
>If Rise follows the same pattern/consistency of releases that post iceborne launch
We already know it won't and will me more.
holy shit wtf happened for 3u, i didnt realize it barely got anything from tri
Daily reminder that the most popularly voted Frontier monster is Unknown. If your TU list doesn't have Unknown then it's fake.
UNKNOWN???????????
So how exactly does Blood Rite work? Does its heal effect increase with damage dealt? Does something like a Greatsword heal more than Dual Blades for example?
yes.
About the difference, one hit of GS will heal more, but you will hit more then 1 time with DB
I remember in the leaks we had all those skills with the exact numbers and it was a % of the damage you deal, reduce for ranged weapons
3/6/10% of damage dealt per level, reduced for ranged weapons
Is it just me or do things do frick tons of damage? Also is blood rite worth it? Are there decos for it?
Dont cheat on the twins
What have the dango eating fatty and the siscon ever done for me?
I’m moving to the kingdom, bye Kamura
Sorry anon this number is for P3rd to 3U not Tri. I felt that would be a bit unfair since a lot of 3U's content comes from P3rd. If you're interested the jump between Tri and 3U is 33
>They even have lagi drawn in the artstyle of rise
AHAHAHAHHAHAA NEVER EVER
I hope not, without underwater he’s worthless.
>all the hordes of morons who triple carted to him in GenU
It'd probably still work.
>your personality type is: Lagiacrus
>you went to a party and everyone loved you, but now nobody invite you anymore because you tend to break things around
>Lagiacrus won't be in SB
>*push glasses up*
>because he will be in a future update
Just make it like litterally every other Leviathan, they can totally work on ground
Are there other monsters that aren't in Sunbreak as possible results for this quiz?
Are there anymore icons besides that
Nice edit, homosexual
https://twitter.com/coolaise21/status/1538173332113108992
Actual results pictures from the poll don't even have that border
>gais weapons
>insane purple sharpness
>the best raw damage by far
>the negative affinity can be negated by slotting a kushala rampage dec
why the frick would you use any other weapon
>using ugly weapons
A couple of them look cool at least.
they have the most hit and miss designs i guess, their descriptions are really cool though, i love the bow, dualblades and LS though
Thankfully the GS looks cool
Gaisma's a c**t and fighting him over and over for dragonsphires will get boring fast
How do I get more outfit tickets?
Fight the thralls hunter
Thralls?
What a shit final boss, what were they thinking
What a shit post, what were you thinking?
Satan is dope, legit one of the cooler fights, you have shit taste
Someone at Capcom must have really gotten into Pacific Rim.
Can somebody tell me what exactly did Asterisk got wrong?
People hate him because he's one of those people who gets genuine information but acts like a big homosexual about it
You mean in general or with the last one?
I remember during the base Rise he said the endgame was doing rampages to upgrade the weapons and everyone would wear Allmother armor because it gave free thunderblight to monsters (lol)
Switch Axe bros.
What's the difference between a SA that has a Paralysis Phial and one that is Elemental Phial with Paralysis element?
I don't know. Hope that helps!
One only has para in sword mode and the other has para all the time, the phial just makes it stronger
Para phial does more para damage but it only works in sword mode
Para weapon does less para damage but it works in both axe and sword mode
Phial = only sword attacks
Wish there was exhaust element for axe...
>now every weapon can stun
>we can get a mace shaped DB that actually stun
>hammer players finally gave up after yet more abuse and kill themself
Be honest, how many people have you seen trying to capture afflicted monsters?
None yet but I play solo HAH
None
Honestly the majority of my online endgame questing has been pretty good, I think most shitters are still working their way up
>Already hearing people complaining that monsters are delaying attacks way too much
Oh great, I hope this doesn't end up like FromSoft games discussions
What's the kinsect type of kings? Assist?
Im MR65 and Im burnt out. Fun game but its monster hunter see you in 6 months
Because it's a great fricking fight, probably one of the best vidya boss fight ever made. The perfect fight, the perfect sendoff
He was the best monster in Iceborne and seeing people getting filtered was pretty funny.
I just hope we get another insanely hard fight as the last title update in Sunbreak.
>sunbreak
>hard
Why are nintendies so insecure about world?
This is why:
>look up information on Tri/4/Gen/GenU
>"OH YOU CAN FIND (THING) IN (PLACE EXCLUSIVE TO WORLD)
>"We're talking about (Tri/4/Gen/U), moron."
>"OH, WELL WORLD IS BETTER GAME, NEVER HEARD OF THOSE OTHERS. MONSTER HUNTER IS SO NEW LOL!!!"
Was World a mistake???
Try not being a baiting Black person for five seconds and learn to appreciate a good fight
Because everyone subconsciously know that Fatalis saved a meh game
frick you you homosexual moron. jesus christ what a worthless, uninvited post.
SNS bros, what has been feeling good for you as far as weapons and armor go? I have Golm sword and I'm using mostly early MR hunter gear still in MR4. Trying to find full sets that are fun to farm and havegood skills
HH bros... how are we coping?
Outside of players not cutting tails? Pretty good
Fricking love new switch skill that gives ko/exhaust/break buff to your attacks, hope it's main stay
I just switched to SnS instead. Put on Wide Range and now I can bonk heads while providing support with unsheathed heals/flashes/whatever. I hope MH6 brings back classic HH.
By switching my main to GS
I'm about to kill Malzeno in Sunbreak and so far there isn't single bad fight.
Seriously, not a single fight made me want to kill myself like some in previous games, not even Almudron and the fire subspecies.
Basarios?
Because they're all piss easy. Longest fight for me in Sunbreak was 24 minutes on Rajang. Whst should be harder fights like Malzeno, Shagaru, etc were all sub 15 first time. Not even using stupid Attack 7, Crit 7, Wex 3, CB 3 meta sets, just comfy utility with some levels of attack.
It's pretty funny how Surge slash frick ups a lot of fast frickers. Great move
is she autistic?
H-hasagi?
So I’m going to break down and try GL. What stats do I need to prioritize?
>stats
what?
Anyway, just get artillery. The rest depend of your playstyle, the more raw moves you use, the more you may need the classic crit skills
Guard package may be useful for the counter, if you like to use that a lot
Any particular MR 5 GL worth getting?
Malzeno if you like Long.
Don't fall for the Redirection meme.
I’m running his full armor, so I’m used to farming him. I’ll give a shot.
It's also probably the best looking weapon in the game. I'll likely keep using it at times for that alone.
That's why it's a meme.
Yeah but... a good meme!
I mean, it's like saying playing base rise hammer with ONLY impact crater is a meme
true, but effective
for some people if you pick meta you meme
It really isn't. Bullet Barrage is fun, but trying to play around spamming it gets boring fast.
WW3 is plenty and Reverse Blast is fun to use.
There's a lot of good ones this time around.
Even the final boss one is pretty cool looking for being effectively a chunk of rock with a hole in it.
I definitely want to fashion up a lot of sets for different gunlances.
Let mfkers do what they want if they find it fun. I still enjoy BB spam, what are you gonna do, lock me up in fun jail?
No, I'm just going to watch as most people drop gunlance over the next couple months like always and hope I don't see too many online because most of them send people flying every time they use it.
Blame the game, not da playah
I made the gore GL it looks pretty damn good too
Is really a meme?
It let you skip on guard skill and barrage all day
i think thats when you can craft the malzeno GL? its long 7, served me well
obviously artillery and load shells
wirebug whisperer
guard/guard up for comfy (can get by with guard 3 guard up 1)
redirection for more bugs
the rest as you see fit, standard melee skills will increase your damage but returns are much smaller then with other weapons cause shelling
if you dont want to BB spam WW goes a little lower in priority
adding to what others saidm, Evade Extender is high up there
>OW MY FIRE BALLS
Been using the bikini set + nawra legs from base rise for ass cheeks, anymore good bawd outfits in sunbreak?
How would you feel if Burst Species came to mainline as the gimmick feature of MH6?
The frick is a burst species?
Possibly even retcon some other mons into dinosaurs
>future species
Unironically something that hopefully stay in frontier. I can't see them work at all as a concept in mainline MH
If anything, I can probably see them doing more prehistoric species rather than origin species. I mean, just look at the Carboniferous period.
>2022
>saying frontier doesn't work in mainline
Not being able to discerne some frontier design from some borderline mainline design is stupid
Some shit in there is just a big no.
At least frontier doesn't have ninja wallrun and cloudswinging
yeah it has even more moronic shit like magnet spike and tonfas
Yes, and that makes it worse because the alternative is tonfa frickery and magnetic axe moron nova + the elemental burst you can do seasonally and more, much more moronic elements that make it all so much more horrid in comparison.
Longsword getting greatsword shit is a fricking frontier original.
Cloud
Swinging
Not even Spiderman does that anymore since the 60's
Frontier Z was a mistake.
It's actually Frontier ZZ
good thing it's wirebug swinging then
Jesus christ it looks like DMC
I like DMC but that shit doesn't belong in MH
Is that Palico dressed as Seiba?
Yes frontier has plenty of crossovers.
That sounds really dumb
The literal design philosophy for them was combining an existing monster with a tool/appliance. Valsablos is a Diablos mixed with a stove. I'm dead fricking serious.
I think some Frontier concepts are best left behind and that's one of them
The entire Frontier cast can work in mainline. Just hide the crazier ones behind event quests. I seriously can't believe so many people don't actually want to hunt all these unique monsters, I'd hate to think the mh player base is actually this far up their own ass.
oh my god is this real??
Palico if he real
>stove Diablos
yeah, no.
I checked all the frontier monsters and some of them are way too ridiculous like that one or almost every Zenith monster.
But I can see the majority of them in mainline games.
>there's a monster that literally erases time a la king crimson and undoes his death
No anon.
I'm sorry but I need to put you down.
I love you, I really do, but it's for the greater good.
For every Frontier monster that would fit perfectly into mainline there's another that would feel completely out of place. The design philosophies between mainline and Frontier simply diverged too much.
this guy looks really cool but is probably really gay (he likes men)
He feeds exclusively on ball shaped cacti so he might be gay actually. Not that I blame him, female Diablos are terrifying.
>yet another moronic subspecies name just to make it look cool
Sorry, they will all always be subspecies to me
What did they give to MR Rajang?
I'm MR 4 now, when do i get bullet barrage?
After the Astalos urgent, so three more hunts
thanks broskies
do 2 key quests and they will unlock it.
Do a few more keys and you'll get them all in a very obvious way.
after first set of urgent quests in MR4, you talk to utsushi and he gives you the rest of the skills for all weapons
supy is so happy bros
what is he looking at
supy awakens fatherly instincts in me
i want to adopt him
I like how when Chichae is playing with Supy, he sticks around when you bring up the quest menu.
Marry chichae and adopt supy
>please be patient I have nyatism
Wow a fricking monkey hammer is the best in the game before the MR100 hammer. Peak Pronged Hammer is broken.
>purple sharpness out the ass with a buff
>Rampage Slot 3 for Kushala Gem to get affinity on your B combo
>has fricking Blast on top of a generous 320 raw
I literally frick up A 4* monsters without issue with this thing. I knew blast hammers would still be king in this game
It also looks really fricking nice
>blast hammer
Poor man Grongigas?
I've been using nothing but the surge GS.
I never used GS at all before sunbreak.
Can you actually break all 3 things on the back of the final boss when he's climbing up the wall?
yes, he falls down and you can spit on his face afterwards
Yeah, but you have to be really precise.
Using a mouse would definitely help a lot, I use Gyro
Yes but I'm pretty sure the 1st time he climbs is rigged to have more HP on the orbs, they break way easier on the 2nd round
I've managed it twice but yeah it's fricked
>30 minutes for shaggy
jesus christ what is wrong with me
least I didn't die though
any tips with lance
post ur skills
gorilla lance
You know you can block/counter most tremors right
There's only like 1 exception in Rise
it just came with, I wanted the three guard skills
idk what to tell you besides git gud with skills like that, how did you even get all that?
>no critboost and WEX package
that may be a problem
oh this too, you may have high affinity but not the extra damage
Doesn't the gorilla weapons have negative affinity? even at rank7 I'm pretty sure it's pretty small
And CB+WEX on a native 0% crit weapon is a whole 20% damage buff, it's just too important
No they have 0%. Gorillas armor grants you 30% affinity for having your stamina at full for a few seconds too.
Not exactly great on Lance to be fair.
And if the crit is really 0, those 7 level of crit could and probably should go in WEX+CB then
100% crit and crit boost 3 feel mandatory. I hope they remove boost from the next game and balance around the removal because I hate it at this point
Now you have CB as a decent tech skill for weapons that already have an high crit rate but it feel less mandatory
number are some shit I made up right now, they can and should be moved around a bit
>evade extender on lance
>evade extender THREE on lance
this is legitimately a dps down that costs skill points. you have other mobility tools other than the hop
Use powerguard counter to reset instead if you want to stay in the same place.
isn't it impossible to do charged sweep poke charged sweep that way? I need that damage on downed monsters
No? You can loop sweeps and charged counters forever if you want. The charged counter does nearly as much damage as a sweep in the first place.
but if you combo reset with the counter you're forced to go counter -> charged sweep -> poke -> reset
if you hop reset you can go charged sweep -> poke -> charged sweep -> reset which does a lot more damage in the long run
Use the new shield tackle to reset combos. Does stun + damage, is extremely quick, and can change direction 180 degrees.
I have EE3 on all my weapon sets because I like zipping around the map and monster like a moron
homie I use gunlance and not even I use more evade extender fricking 3
>join random SOS
>load in and Arzuros is captured before I can even move
>2 large beast gems
This game is too easy
I really don't want to fight an afflicted Magma Almudron
Don’t forget Espinas’ Burst Soecies, Meraginas! He lives deep underground where it’s pitch black so went blind he developed bigass ears!
I think the fricking DRILL is the bigger offender here.
That’s his Burst concept, Espinas+Drill. Like how Valsablos is Diablos+Stove.
>implying Rhydon wouldn’t make for a cool ass monster
>monster hunter but yoy hunt oversized pokemons
the crossover we need but will never get
Pokemon company would never allow it
That Final Fantasy Explorers game was a huge missed opportunity as well
For me the thing that really ruined the FFE thing was the whole "upgrade your skills with those random minievents one at the time but only 10 out of 50 are good"
not that the rest was super great either
>Pokemon company would never allow it
True.
And in general, they aren't making many spinoff recently, the DS era was truly a golden age for that
why is it black instead of a pale color then
also damn the frontier designs are bad
It was really only the G Rank designs that sucked, you look at everything up to Frontier Forward and it looks like Gen 1 and 2 mainline stuff. I think they got a new art director or something for Frontier G, which explains why the designs went to shit with a few exceptions like Toridcress or Barlagual.
Frontier really was a mistake
Oh boy flying wyvern recolor #342 that hits half the room with every attack when enraged
okay this guy looks extremely gay, he probably gives a killer blowjob
Does anyone know how to get the rank 10 Royal Order weapons?
I'm trying to get my claymore upgraded but it's locked to me, is it further in the MR ranks (currently 53), or is it some follower mission, because I did fugens twin magnamalo and didn't get it.
The answer is always fight more afflicted.
There are like 6 unique afflicted mats. You haven't seen the one you need.
Oh. Good to finally know 170 hours in lol
Anything with blue damage numbers does which includes most silkbinds
I only want the scorpions from Frontier, I don't care about anything else
Oh, and this too
>Make Pierce HBG to cheese afflicted monsters by wrecking multiple glowy bits
>Feel like an butthole because now the monster is just chasing me all over the room
Frick
Post build
My husband
Burst Species were AIDS, I’ll post some actual good Frontier designs as a palette cleanser. The whip wyverns were pretty based.
You may think this guy is water or ice element but actually he’s dragon element. He still lives in water and ice like Zamtrios though.
>cant unlock Sunbreak for free like a fricking Black person because new denuvo with update
>they removed Denuvo from Stories 2 instead
welp
Get a job.
Barlagual is one of the most creative monsters in the whole series, hands down.
This is one of the later Frontier monsters that I actually want in mainline, it's so good
Amatsu got an entire new phase when they added him to Frontier, it was actually pretty neat. They did the same with Shagaru Magala iirc.
if you kill a master rank monster in less than 5 minutes you get to spend the rest of the 45 minutes of the hunt breeding fiorayne
je suis monte
I'm at HR right now, shall I just start with sunbreak? Grinding ranks isn't exactly exciting so far and these apex rampages suck ass (all rampages suck ass)
If you beat narwa then yeah i would just move on to SB
good god i hate MR tobi so much
why does he hit so hard
PLEASE KUSHALA
STOP SCREAMING
STOP BLOWING ME OVER
STOP JUMPING AROUND
STOP CHANGING AREAS EVERY 2 MINUTES
FUUUUUUUUUCK
How the frick did you manage to take 24 minutes to kill rajang? did you have a dinner with him?
can lance's forward shield bash activate instant block? I feel like I get the blue flash sometimes
No you're probably just screwing the input and hitting guard before the other buttons
The new shield tackle has the blue flash on it by default. It has tiny recovery and can quickly be chained into a counter thrust. Since the recovery is so quick, you can block/insta block basically seamlessly after it.
How do I play GS?
is it true they added denuvo? is that fricking why my game runs like fricking dogshit? what hte fucjjjjjjkkkk
anybody know what the giant blue thing behind chichae is on minotos drawing?
The doggert
thats a big dog
my balls
I don't get it, after getting SB I feel like I'm missing a lot more inputs with GL to get the stake/full burst out
>use the wireart that boost shelling
>end up with a normal shot istead of the stake
>slam the GL on the ground
>shot a single shot
Is the timing a bit more strict or I just got more moronic?
>>end up with a normal shot istead of the stake
Are you pressing the wrong button or what? Just hitting triangle does it all the time
I'm only having trouble when I have to hit Ttriangle+Circle, frickin hate that awkward press being part of the como
>take lvl 4 spirit caller dango
>max out my birdy ring
>triple-cart to teostra and double-cart on successful kill
guess my weapon
Sounds like it'd take too long to get into the meat of the game and just piss people off ngl
The linear part in the beginning would be pretty short, similar to world's intro probably. Once you set up base it would still have a pick-your-own-question structure like regular monster hunter. Only difference being a lot of the early quests might not relate to hunting monsters at first.
pick-your-own-quest frick
uhh..everythings dead..bros??
oh god there's a dead monke here too everythings dead
Is Charge Master any good for Courage hammer? I honestly have no fricking idea.
the numbers on charge master are absolutely abysmal. chain crit works much better and is a flat bonus to both raw and elemental instead of a tiny percentage to just element/status.
>mfw courage changes
>mfw impact crater
>mfw new spinning bludgeon
SB hammer is the best
>courage changes
spoonfeed me, at changes, I know about IC and the new Spinning bludgeon
Courage charges faster depending on which hit in the charge combo you're in, making the second hit take maybe half a second to charge, and the third hit is always fully charged, damage, elemental damage, status build up, and exhaust values were increased on damn near every attack in it as well.
I am now realizing that I never touched courage hammer, in ~300 hunts. Thanks
>all those things you can do after hitting that precise counter
ungabros....
wait what did they change?
I only play hammer and I didn't notice any changes, feeling like a dumbass right now.
Like a real hammer main
Frick I meant Impact Burst. I'm just happy there's now something way more fun than IC spam while also being perfectly viable.
it seems to me like they completely made power irrelevant in favor of courage, is this actually the case? I'm trying to find a reason to switch to blue scroll but courage and impact burst does everything I need
>it seems to me like they completely made power irrelevant in favor of courage
No, power was buffed to shit as well and does more damage and it's not even a question.
Courage is almost as good though, it's fun, it's new, so people want to use it. It might be better for elemental memes, though.
>Hunting MR Teo
>in the middle of the fight my Gathering Palico pulls endemic life
>rolls an sleepytoad
>sleepy toad fricks off then she proceeds to roll Lottery
>she pulls a fricking Kitternator
How can palamutes even compete.
>beat final boss
>lose all motivation to play
bros...
Dire miralis
hunting dates with Fiorayne and Luchika
Luchika being so tunnel visioned on killing the monster she doesn’t notice me and Fio fricking
That's a sign of a true hunter, nothing but bloodshed.
MADE
FOR
BAHARI
Bahari’s a cuck
>complains that you’re all she talks about
>post game dialogue makes it sound like he’s crushing on her
yeah this, fiorayne's more for the amiral. She straight says when the situation stabilises she'll follow him elsewhere
Best bugstick?
test
I play boost hammer in GE so I dunno why I didn't try it here.
why does ground splitter still get fricked by sheathing yet eruption cannon doesn't and that doesn't even use a wirebug?
I really don't like afflicted monsters
