Tanzia was way worse than loc lac, the only improvement they did to the online is that you could kick players, but they took a step backwards making it so that lobbies close down once the leader leaves (I might be wrong but I'm pretty sure that was how it worked)

This game was my first one and is still the best one today. The NPC's could actually be funny, especially in the early game where they shit on you and write you off for dead when you go after certain mons. Now everyone slurps your dick from the start and its like every other game giving players an undeserved hero treatment for walking up to them and pressing A. Also Moga Sweetheart is the best girl in the series with no competition

Rise is the best MH game since 4U and might be better than it.
The birds encourage you to still explore while the monster being on the map gives you choice to explore or by-line to fight. Wire bug opens up a lot of options for the player and resource management with only 2-3 points is very easy to do. Having both offensive and defensive options is fantastic. Especially since so many have hidden bonuses for using them to parry attacks and what not. Multiplayer is the easiest it's even been to get working. Connecting to friends and getting into hunts is seemless and fast.
Lack of new weapons sticks, lack of monsters also sucks, and poogie is better than cohoot. But those are my only real complaints. Rise, especially with sunbreak, is a good direction for the series.

I think the best way to make use of spiribirds and endemic life is to go to the monster directly, and then as you're playing the hunt and the monster goes to different areas, you take shortcuts, different routes, and pick up different things on the way, including normal resources like honey or mining.
It's a very natural feeling, and it feels like how they intended it to work, rather than maxxing every stat out at the beginning of the quest.

Is it wrong to prefer ranged weapons in this game? Gotta love the bowguns, the heavy bowguns, the gunlance, and pretty much anything that lets me shoot these buttholes into little pieces. Never touched the series before, but after playing Lost Planet, I felt an itch to fight giant beasts.

Played a bit of Freedom Unite, and it definitely brings its own challenges. For one, you can't break off items from specific monsters, and enemies like Plesioths can really give you a hard time.
I used to be a HBG guy, but had to give it up because yeah, it makes things way too easy. Back in the Freedom 2 / Unite days where I started the guns were cumbersome enough that they were difficult in their own way, but in World and Rise they just feel broken. That said, the power creep is growing and growing on all the other weapons too. I really hope they roll some things back rather than continuing in this direction for the next game.

Honestly, I don't recommend optimising completely for sunbreak. I went in with gear that's tiered below narwa, and I'm getting carted and having a great time against the reworked monsters.
If you want a challenging experience for the next part of the game I think going in with the gear that you have would be completely fine. You'll be able to feel the progression of early master rank as well, rather than just skipping through tiers with endgame equipment.

I am using the Rarity 6 Diablos lance, and I'm using that rarity 7 black belt gear I got from downloading Sunbreak.
Should I be in a stage of optimizing my builds now, as I'm progressing and getting closer to actual Sunbreak content?
I heard Nargacuga lance is the best or something. Should I just keep going with what I got, until post Narwa, and I'll end up unlocking a frickton of things? Any advice is appreciated. I'd have to farm Nargacuga for a bit in that case. Also, I have not had any struggles with taking or dealing damage, yet.
I'm having a lot of fun with this game. Lance is great. My least favorite monster is Basarios. He is annoying, but not a fun annoying like Nargacuga or Rajang.

It's basically hypers again (called afllicted monsters), but a bit more modified.
You do them to augment weapons beyond their regular maximum capabilities.
Not all monsters have afflicted forms yet, with only a few of the later game monsters having one. The highest one currently is regular magnamalo I believe, and apparently they get very difficult.

Im so conflicted on this shit. Base rise is shit, and it seems like sunbreak somewhat fixes that, but the same gimmicky bullshit is there with vroom zoom monsters that forces you to play a weapon differently even if its one you're used to. Never in any monster hunter game did I need to go back and actually learn Great Sword because the moves are so batshit different in Rise, moves that used to do the job right are now useless or they're needed to combo into some bullshit mega hit. The only thing I require is for my weapon to not feel like shit and Rise doesnt seem to do that well despite all the good things its added. I dont want to be a worldhomosexual, but that game had a better style for both new and vet hunters rather than barely passing hunts because you dont want to learn a new style that the game forces on you.

Pretty substantially buffed actually, still a pretty middle of the road weapon but if you like hammer it’ll pull its weight. I don’t even think it was that bad in base Rise, just not as good as other options.

It got some buffs but everything else got larger buffs so it's still the worst weapon in the game

It's not worth worrying about too much though, since it doesn't give massive def down anymore and just stops healing from sources other than items like Red HP bar (so it does nothing). Just play aggressively for the buffs, but you don't have to play risky sadly.

None of this is worth the excruciating pain of using Awakened Kinsect, creating a bunch of dust, and then watching a LBGBlack person fire a pierce round to destroy the 1000+ damage blast you were about to do. I literally screamed the first time it happened.
Cutting tails off from a distance or stopping Hammergay satisfaction by KO'ing a monster with a bug before he can get off his totally sick attack makes any bad aspects worth it.
Wyvern Dive isn't necessary for IG and Jumping Advancing Slash (Iassume you meant the helicopter one) is less useful than Kinsect Slash. I don't see why anybody would want Silkbind Vault over Kinsect Glide either, and you can have all of this together anyway because you can switch silkbinds now so it doesn't matter.

Seems kind of pointless then for how much they take to craft. With the healing item boosting dango max potions heal near enough to full anyway. Plus I have recovery up to work with Malzeno's armour which is fricking insane by the way how much that armour skill heals. so the healing is even more anyway.
Rise already makes it easy to heal, all I bring is 10 mega, combines for 10 more mega and an ancient to refill stamina

Sunbreak is great, I wish that Elgado was a better village. It's definitely very low tier. Not as bad as Astera but definitely one of the worst ones.

Monster Hunter is a casual franchise to begin with and was always made with profit in mind too, but 4U and GU still have much harder fights than anything before them so I don't know where you get casualized from. Even if we ignore those points with rose tinted glasses and claim that current Monster Hunter is a massive fall from grace, it's still one of the best games around even if only by process of elimination. The OST was great in Sunbreak, but Shaguru was a lot better on 3DS and not in the "old things are better" kind of bullshit reasoning. Frenzy actually applied a huge defense down debuff and he had RNG explosion placements so you were constantly on your toes while fighting, but here he just gets extended attacks and a laser beam.
Either way, still better than the vast majority of 1, Dos, World/IB and 3rd gen fights.

I played World for a couple hundred hours, didn't care enough for the clutch claw to keep on playing it after that. I started Rise a week ago and I think I like the wirebugs and skills more so far.
Has Sunbreak done anything to effect your main weapon? For me it's GS. Sunbreak GS is pure fricking sex and in my eyes the best weapon in the game now. Also I didn't even realize until after using it for a long time but succesfuly parrying an attack with strongarm stance actually buffs your TCS damage by like 30%. I'm using tier 8 weapons and I managed to hit a 2000 damage hit unbuffed.
It sucked in Rise and it still sucks in Sunbreak so I no longer play it

In particular, I bring it out any time a monster like Basarios who is not a fight at all and is instead a pointless waste of time only brought back to fellate 1st/2nd gengays comes up.

Sunbreak feels pretty low production value to me, and the new voice actor that narrates introductions is a huge step down from Rise, but the fights are top fricking notch. Espinas is amazing.
Well yeah, we already know from leaks that Capcom moved a bunch of people off of Sunbreak so they could focus more on MH6. Sunbreak is made with a skeleton team and a barebones budget purely out of obligation to make a G rank. The little bit of content they did make was designed so that it could be result ported to MH6 without looking out of place.
I'm fine with this overall. I think sunbreak is overpriced for what it is with this in mind, but production value isn't the main draw on monster hunter for me, I still go back to every entry from FU on. I hope they support sunbreak a bit more post launch than Rise, but I won't get my hopes up. At least the fights are good. Writing could be better though. I'm sure the world follow-up will be dope.

If you need anything from the general quest box, then you were the shitter all along
the online etiquette is completely gone because of sos flares or whatever the frick they're called. you can't expect randoms to not immediately wake up a monster or stay away from the head if they're not stunning. you can't join a room without everyone already out on a hunt with full parties because of sos. probably not an issue if you play with friends but its completely ruined my online experience, frick world.

its a downward spiral, you're right it wasn't so bad in world but now that its probably going to be in every future mh game, new players or buttholes are going to start becoming less and less cooperative online.

I had the exact opposite experience of you though, SOS flares took away the feeling of cooperation because there's no commitment. It definitely got a hell of a lot worse in Rise with everyone dragging over the capturing autism from World, but it started with SOS and making Lobbies obsolete.
Of course old lobbies barely worked half the time anyway, so we were fricked either way.

Of course I'm not saying it never happened, sometime people ignored a trap or what not, but if you really want some kinda hard number then I'd say that shit happened in one out of fifty quests, so it didn't really fricking mattered.

What are you taking about, every single sos hunt I did in world was a nightmare is shitters that would take all the items, constantly wake sleeping monsters, and relentlessly triple cart. Rise just feels like more of the world experience.
In world random people literally waited for me to set up wake up TCS on sleeping monsters regularly. Maybe you are just in trash MMR where you belong with your 20 minute hunts lmao

Looking back, Hunter Arts where alright actually.
Less spammy, used less often, you had to build meter by fighting to get them. Compared to just waiting for a cool down. They feel unearned in Rise.
