hand him to Suzuki.
World lizards exists solely to test your big dps combos on them
Baggi doesn't seem much faster in MR, but the sleep attack is fun. Still
Baggi, Izuchi and Wroggi beat the shit out of all the IB tutorial shitmons lmao.
Just saw 2 veteran players getting filtered by AGWroggi
>fun
nice cope
it would've been okay if they removed that mechanic after Shara. Once you start grinding it becomes apparent that you have to do that shit mini game to be remotely efficient.
There are very few monsters that somewhat benefit from that gimmick which is Uragaan, Rajang and Behemoth
>optional >post-IB monsters covered in shitzones to account for clutch claw >post-IB monsters have almost no natural downs or insanely fast down recovery to account for clagger/wallbangs
The game turns into a fricking chore if you treat the claw as "optional", and using the claw is also a chore. Going back to base World monsters that weren't balanced about the worst thing in the game was the best IB ever got.
To me this just means that most monster hunter fans like monster hunter and are playing new monster hunter.
It's just Ganker that makes autistic tribes over game within the same series.
Clutch Claw dragged down the entire game, what a complete trash feature. Had CC not existed, Iceborne would have been better than Sunbreak without a contest, but as it is...

I've thought this a lot but people really overexaggerate how much of an invasive and necessary feature clutch claw is. If you're in an online hunt and you don't like CC? Well don't worry cause someone else will do it for you invalidating your need to do it personally. Doing a solo hunt? Well the time it takes to CC the monster every time is barely even worth the opportunity cost of using it in the first place because time spent trying to get a CC off is time spent not whacking the monster. Sure it's objectively worse to not use CC for damage but it's completely fricking marginal. I would know because I spent my last like 200 hours in Iceborne never using it and never had any trouble.
it just wasn't fun to use, and the quality of the hunts decreased if you chose not to use it
i had no difficulty beating iceborne without using it, but some hunts, especially those against more active monsters, became much less enjoyable
How did they become less enjoyable though? The whole "every monster is nothing but shitzones without CC" thing isn't even true. It feels literally no different hitting a none CC part than it does hitting a CC one except for the rare cause where you'd bounce without it but if it's a part that you're bouncing in you probably doing want to be hitting there anyway even with CC. I kept going for much longer after ignoring CC and my enjoyment of hunts only went up because I wasn't bothering with the most tedious mechanic.
I hated IB because everything felt like a spastic moron with no openings to incentivize wallbangs/tenderizing
how's sunbreak in comparison? I seen every fricking weapon has counters now and there's a wall bang spider so I'm worried it's gonna be just as moronic
in base rise every phial is equally viable, the only thing holding back power phial was it long charge time but since sunbreak introduced so many ways to amp up your sword mode Power phial is king once again.
I used lance and finished a hunt and noticed I liteally didn't use a sinlge healing item the entire time. I wonder if anyone has tried lance with Malzeno's unique skill.
>I wonder if anyone has tried lance with Malzeno's unique skill.
1 point of it is all you need, I hope you can get it on a charm or else I'm literally never getting rid of this chest
>craft Good Luck decos
that shit requires those fricking Almudron orbs that never fricking drop ever
might just try use that Ibushi/Narwa stuff and hope I don't get obliterated
they have decent stats but no element means you're limited to raw-only weapons, and they have worse sharpness than alternatives with similar or better stats iirc
removing innate roll sharpen kind of kills them
I've been using Gore weapons into Shagaru. Shagaru weapons seem to pretty much just be Nargacuga weapons but better stats, though the slots aren't as good.
>remove roll sharpen
what were they thinking, it was a stupid mechanic but nice to have, now its a fricking armor skill.
I hate where this whole armor building is going to. There is no point in wearing a full armor anymore not even more than one part. Not even those special armor skills are unique anymore. Can't wait for for the Valstrax soul rampage deco.
I unironically hope that with the last update we get a new Fatty armor that literally gives you all skills, just to frick with OCD meta trannies and draw a line to completely redo the skill system with the next game.
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there has basically never been any reason to use a full set ever. The problem with Rise is skill choice is really simple for most weapons and some armor pieces are moronicly good individually and there's calculators now.

[...]
do you really have to ask, how new are you?
meh, games are piss easy so I do it anyway until I unlock layered
>here has basically never been any reason to use a full set ever
factually wrong
name a better LR armor than Rathalos in MHGU or Valstrax in base Rise.
Full armor is boring, I'm talking about set bonus, its about going full clown. You never wore 5 separate pieces in any old games, not even in World with the new skill system thanks to secret skills
>stupid black cat and stupid purple cat rape me hard >think I'm getting worse >do mizu expecting the worst >murder it in cold blood >same with the rest of early rank 4
That was interesting I guess.
>steve is more aggressive and much harder to trip to death >gore is practically unchanged and maybe even a little slower
I still haven't changed out of my valstrax set. I'm really waiting for a monster to tear me a new one and it's just not happening.
A bunch of the area themes are credited to particular monsters in the official soundtracks. The deserted island theme is Tremble of the Sea and Land - Lagiacrus. Rathalos doesn't have a specific theme either but he's still associated with the forest and hills theme.
i did notice that gore likes to follow some moves with tail swipes and tackles now, most likely to catch out wirefalls because that happened to me once
When people keep talking about how easy Gore supposedly is do they include Shagaru in that too? Cause Shagaru is hands down the monster that carted me the most in Sunbreak and it's not even close. My second highest is 2 for Teostra but Shagaru has carted me no less than 15 times.
not that guy but I found gore much harder than shagaru, gore seemed much faster and did a lot more charging attacks over and over again while shagaru's changes only make him more fair and predictable
I mean Gore was also a really hard fight for me too and he ate through my healing a lot more than most but Shagaru did me just cause he hits like a truck so a lot of the time I didn't have time to heal. Plus he has a lot of distance closers that punish you for trying to get away for a heal. Plus unlike Gore Shagaru's moves are much bigger in scope so they threw me off quite a lot.
I played 4U and already fought Shaggy a shitload, his moveset is super exploitable because if you stay under his legs and move into him he can't do a lot. Gore is the same way.
What elemental weapons are the most important to get? Heard that elemental attacks are in fact viable with switchaxe, and not what I had heard before that you should only go raw.
I guess water is a big thing as a lot of monsters are fire-based?
Someone remind me, were the controller layouts always so bad in these games? I haven't played an MH title in years, and sheath and unsheath being different buttons fricks me up every time.
Finally got purple sharpness - with 100% effective crit rate and CB3, Sacred Sheathe does INSANE damage for how easy it is to pull off. It fits right in to LS kit as well and just feels generally amazing
Loving Sunbreak so far, really glad to have a viable alternative to Helm Breaker finally.
you get used to it
someone said iai is doodoo now and to just use foresight slash but I like switching back and forth because the set switch dodge with ee3 makes me feel like a ninja
What's not to like? After Sacred combo, go right back into white with additional RT input, Silkbind Swap into Special Sheathe w/ Iai (and Sakura Slash) to get immediately back to Red, rinse and repeat.
I'd have to do the math, but I do over 2k damage with a fully charged Sacred Sheath combo + Spirit Reckoning combo using just the Frostmoon Paleblade and unoptimized R8 gear.
>Luchika never heals >you're also her only hunting partner >you end up slapping her ass on almost every mission
She probably develops a taste for it by the end
no, monsters are the most fun if you fight them on their respective level (appropriate equipment)
Yes, it also locks your final skills to mr4.
Some completely moronic choices.
unless you want to whine about those 2 extra switchskills which are more or less important for some weapons/playstyles >LS - irrelevant >DB - mostly irrelevant >HH - mostly irrelevant >GS - somewhat relevant >SnS - somewhat relevant >Hammer - relevant (new playstyle) >GL - relevant
dunno about the other weapons
>can fight later monsters without upgrading your equipment to match them you know
you can also pay a hooker and then only frick her on the third date you know?
>They made cats even better and gave dogs next to nothing new
dogs exists for solo play to sharpen your sword on. Some monsters are just to spastic to do it without speed sharpening 3
Being irrelevant or not is not an excuse, there's literally zero reason to lock anything behind mr progression and then not even saving all your mr points. >
Yes, the better talisman farming is locked behind the fricking final boss and your MR doesn't accumulate in the background while doing hunts up to the end so your hunts up to that point don't give you any MR. Plus
Yes, it also locks your final skills to mr4.
Some completely moronic choices.
You fight like 4 new monsters from MR1-3 and then suddenly every second fight is a new monster after that, I wish that there were one or two earlier monsters.
Holy frick the Citadel is such a good map there's no way they can get rid of the wirebugs or not have an equivalent movement mechanic in future games, these maps need it
GS by far. Strongarm stance is proabbly the single most fun switch skill to pull off and countering a monster's attack and following up immediately with a fully charged TCS is the most satisfying thing ever. I'm not looking forward to the next MH cause GS is definitely going to be worse because they've peaked here. Sunbreak GS is literally the perfect GS.
i like SA's wirebug counter for finally freeing me from ZSD spam, it does ridiculous damage, and looks cool as hell. Plus the wirebug dodge SA gets is bonkers as well, it's like absolute evasion with no cooldown, it's really silly.
I feel like firing pin is very dangerous, and only works on condensed slash, my style is wild axe (or what is left of it), I know it hits harder but hitting the monster again on the same spot is a hassle for me with CB
it's not so bad when you use regular morph to axe and vanilla AED, and the appeal of firing pin is getting to use those with constant morphing between sns-axe anyway since non-pizza cutter CB is just SAED fest
Been doing every quest before I move MR but based on this thread I should just do the main ones to finish asap then go back with the new skills and charm options.
Damage meta is 2 rousing roar cats if your build needs it, otherwise 2 dogs with the umbrella and the best status weapon available. Double gathering cats can't be beat for the grind though.
literally all they had to do was give them a shittier version of Pilfer. Why the frick would you take a dog when you have the extra chance of your cat getting a gem/mantle?
I've come to realization that if you bring a dog to a quest you're a fricking egoist, because dogs don't add anything to the fight, hell most of the fights (if not all) never bring the silkbind binder wich would make them somewhat useful but no, just deadweight, meanwhile my cute bombarder car pulling Kittenators out of the ass.
Am I the only one that's finding this game to be the easiest monster hunter yet
Like I'm getting sub 8 min kills on most monsters and this is supposed to be master rank
I've just beat the new mud monkey dude, does the game get harder?
It will get harder after monkey, MR3 is a big step up. Still, if you're already finding this to be the "easiest" monhun yet, then maybe you'll continue to find it easier. I personally don't see how it's easier than World/IB, but maybe something with your weapon or knowledge has just clicked for you.
Just go Basarios or Bazel, fix it with talisman and decorations for polish ,EE and wirebug whisperer.
Later on get Lunagaron for Redirection and clown suit everything else, redirection with evade extender is pure crack on gunlance.
It's GL, so long as you've got artillery, load shells and evade extender you can pretty much do what you want. Though for personal preference I can tell that you are in fact based because I disdain anyone who over stacks on damage skills on GL to buff non explosions.
As in they don't reduce the NPC hunter damage in fear of the being too much of a crutch. You can literally sit back and they will eventually kill the monster for you without you needing any input.
It's not like having worthless gear is a new problem for monsters, and melee sleep weapons aren't worth much anyway without big stats to back them up like gog's
Man, gog weapons and their tiny sliver of natural purple were just one game too early to benefit from protective polish
Anyone else immediately leave a quest if there are more First Aid Meds gone than people in the quest prior to you joining? If I join and there are two people but all four are gone, I'm done. People are just admitting they are shitters by needing that many.
I think it's mildly annoying because it gives me the impression the people I just joined are selfish fricks but not to the point of sperging out like that, no.
I mean it's just an observation, as long as there's not a fat fricking uggo on my screen and it doesn't impede with my progressing with a friend then I'm not complaining
I actually quite like Sunbreaks story. Might actually be the most engaged in a MH story I've been since Gore's wild ride. It's just enough to be interesting but not too much that I get sick of it.
No, from what I've heard the anomaly quests stop fairly early in the monster tiers. I don't actually think any of the elder's have anomaly versions. Wait for the title updates.
Only M1 and M2 monsters have anomaly versions currently, though on the update roadmap they had “powered up monsters) listed under both update 2 and update 3, so I think it’s safe to assume that M3/4 anomalies will arrive in update 2 while M5+ anomalies will arrive in update 3.
What is wrong with it? Its basically the old skills, which were fun already, with a slightly different combo off wild swing that you can use if you feel like it, and a very powerful counter to fill the lack of counter it had in base Rise. Honestly feels great.
>Done with the story >Check out what's after >Literally just "fight 2 Rajangs or a wienertail of elder dragons and monsters thrown together >First title update is the Seething Bazelgueuse for some reason
I would have taken a recolor literal anything else or hell even more rampage quests, at least they changed the pace a bit
Follower quests replaced Rampage and there is a frickton of them. You are more than welcome to return to Kamura and sit in Rampages till the TUs release
Finally almost finished all mr3 quests, two more surveys with followers and can do werewolf urgent
Amount of quests is insane, only gu had more content to do
Elemental weapons should cause blights like status weapons. I always thought it was weird that the thing having an element on your weapon changes is the damage, you probably wouldn't even notice the difference between an elemental and a raw build without looking at the damage numbers.
Raw just being universally the best for many weapon types in many games always irked me a bit
Like what's the point of making different elemental weapons if your best option is just to bring Narga/Tigrex/Blos for every fight anyway
Because MH is ultimately japanese call of duty and they don't want little takeshi-kun to be penalized for using whatever weapon makes the coolest particle effect, so they made elements not really matter at all
Before 4 difference between monster being weak/strong to element was noticeable
Don't know why main team removed it from game
Elemental weapons should cause blights like status weapons. I always thought it was weird that the thing having an element on your weapon changes is the damage, you probably wouldn't even notice the difference between an elemental and a raw build without looking at the damage numbers.
Blights don't have diminishing returns, so adding that to weapon would 4u's mounting 2.0 shitfest
You're not particulary wrong but I like to use element, and the game aren't difficult enough to make me -need- to minmax my shit so I just bring whatever shit I want.
Yeah, it's just that the RPG nerd in me wants to be rewarded at least a little bit for min/maxing like bringing the right element or building the weapons in the first place, outside of Bow and DS, elemental is often just pretty worthless
>hate the -garons >naturally hate lunagaron too since it's just the same butthole but with more thorns >get to its fight >it roars >turns into furry zamtrios
>been playing hammer for most of MR1-3 >went from max charge all the time power stance to water striking every chance I get with courage >never the two together >so I literally never scroll switch
is this normal for most other weapons? the only other weapon I use is LS and I switch back and forth like a tard for meter and damage
Minoto's inferiority complex thinking she is worse than her sister is way sadder in sunbreak when she is trying to train to get strong like her sister. Meanwhile every single interaction with Hinoa is just lolfood
>final quest in Sunbreak, "Hail to the Fierce", is Vs. Nargacuga, Seregios, Valstrax, and Malzeno >because those are the G-rank flagships present in Sunbreak
I was initially confused about no Magnamalo, but they actually did put some thought into it
surge slash is kind of difficult to play properly and seriously lags behind on damage output, but it's useful against monsters that rarely stand still like seregios especially because it has that low sweeping combo
I keep both and swap as I need
>1 defensive skill, 1 offensive skill and 1 QoL skill >15 offensive skills, 1 defensive skill because you run out of offensive skills to slot in and 1 QoL skill because you only have level 1 slots left
It's kinda hazy, I do remember him doing the tail flip and getting hit by it, trying to wirebug recover but I did it in the wrong direction and got hit by the tail drag and then I'm not sure what happened, it was kinda fast
Shogun Ceanataur. I still had my high rank armor there, but I just got stomped badly. I had no idea what to do with GS there and failed to break even a single part of its body yet somehow killed it at the end. I havent tried it again even after having MR gear.
Haven’t carted yet but the Bishaten in Luchika’s first follower quest decided to fricking combo juggle me like he was fricking Dante for a full 30 seconds and I kept getting stunned repeatedly and ALMOST carted to it.
Fricking Kulu. I have no idea how the turkey killed me but he did. Then came the obligatory Khezu combo and that's about it so far though I'm not very far in.
She's like the chicks from Johnny bravo and she's actually a palico probably tsukino and she's going to spray all over your shit to make sure you know you're her.s
sure but you are cheating yourself a little, its free update gear made for people to rush the game. if you want to do that you do you but rushing isnt so fun to me
Espinas has high level autism or actual brain damage. Has anyone else noticed how often it stops attacking and just stares you? I have not seen any other monster do this.
It's intentional behavior I think, he also takes forever to wake up if you hit him while sleeping
It is intentional, in frontier he didn't even fight back until hunters had dealt quite a bit of damage to him. Him stopping to just do nothing and taking a while to wake up are the toned down version of it.
Just beat Shaggy Magila
I can't fricking believe it.
I was legitimately worried during the fight thinking the shitposters were right and they nerfed the frick out of him, since at first glance it looked like his rage mode was just some basic boring-ass shit, but then he goes and flies up in the air and does the classic spin and roar and the whole screen gets purple and of course he's back.
Only tradeoff was no more random flashes of frenzy all around the map, but now he weaponizes them while doing other attacks so the screen still gets filled with them, and the mines became quicker to trigger and instead of shooting three projectiles they do another streak of frenzy explosions that go towards you, and then the massive beam attacks and other shit.
That's literally just Insta-Guard. Though the blue is a well-timed guard-point from Spiral Thrust. I still don't get why that thing has a Anchor Rage style guard point on it.
10% damage buff. Anchor Rage is good by Spiral Slash is still stronger, and also has the gap closer utility which is even more important since monsters are ADHD now.

Evade Extender is so moronic now that with just a point you can backhop aggressively at monsters
I keep spiral thrust on my 2nd set for big gapclosers in multiplayer but I still fricking hate that move
>those pathetic girly pokes do more damage in like 10 seconds than I do with my hammer in a minute
wtf man
doesn't matter, Hammer is pretty fun too. It might not be max dps, but courage hammer is fun. Spinning charge is fun.
Its just a shame that old attacks utterly got replaced. What is with golf swing and normal charge attacks, those just exist for nostalgia.
you have to golf swing combo every once in awhile to sneak some water strikes in though right? I only do the max charge back and forth when the monster is downed
>kill Pyre Kadaki >"alright let's see what the weapons are like" >"hmm there's blast orangutan, blast marshmallow, and blast teo hammers but no pyre" >realize there aren't even any regular Kadaki hammers >"must just not be hammers specifically, I'm sure they made stuff for one of the other weapons I use" >no spider sa >no spider sns >no spider gs >no spider ig
What the flying frick is this piece of shit monster, did they even bother making any weapons for it?
Alright homosexual, find the Pyre hammer. Or the greatsword. Or even the switch axe if they're just right there. Unless you're actually a moron too fricking braindead to think that maybe Capcom was lazy and didn't make fricking shit.
Flinch free has made people too complacent. Everyone assumes that because they put 1 level of flinch free on their set that they're good to stand next to literally any ally attack instead of bothering to move slightly away.
>Garangolm urgent >want to explore >kill one of the fluffy herbivores >Fiorayne says "What is WRONG with you?"
I can't believe I'm loving having followers.
>They programmed them well enough that they are more helpful and full of personality than 95% of hunters I've met since World.
Now my experience here is limited, I've only done the first mandatory orange monke hunt with Fiorayne but I legitimately felt like I had 3 palicos with me instead of the usual 2. She just got thrashed around and eventually put down a trap just as monke was flying away.
I've probably done about a half a dozen follower quests and they seem to use flashes, traps, riding, etc when appropriate, they also use lifepowder and the like.
Only one that got tossed around a little was the gunner lady and even then you can pick them up in like a second.
>LS having an ezmode counter that shits out damage and trivializes defence: cringe >Lance having an ezmode counter that shits out damage and trivializes defence: based
Lance's counter is nowhere near as good as LS. >Can get hit straight after parrying if it's a multihit attack >cross slash relies on the monster being near you after you parry, as long as LS hits the attack, dmg comes out >LS gets spirit buff just for countering
Lance deserves it after getting shit on in base rise
>Can get hit straight after parrying if it's a multihit attack
so can longsword >cross slash relies on the monster being near you after you parry, as long as LS hits the attack, dmg comes out
LS can literally miss IAI if the monster is not next to you the second it comes out, it happens with a shit ton of tail and quick attacks >LS gets spirit buff just for countering
Spirit buff is not a buff, it's required to reach the weapon's desired damage
Are effects not strictly elemental but like poison and blast good for quick weapons? I can currently upgrade to the poison SnS rarity 8. Does it proc off shield attacks?
SnS has been my favorite forever, now that we've got swap skills I usually get a KO with bashes before swapping to more offensive skills, I'm still trying to figure out what the new shield charge can do aside from what's obvious, if anything.
That urgent Lunagaron had way more life than it had any right to. Fricker was already broken all over and still kept going for what seemed like half the fight and he just felt like a punching bag.
>using new gunlance online >literally a billion of opportunities to land bullet barrages because monster is typically busy with other players >chunking the monster for TCS tier damage every 20 seconds
Affinity is always worth it since mathematically going from -50% affinity to 0% affinity is the same as going from 0% affinity to 50% affinity. Might want to skip out on Crit Boost though since that only applies to when your affinity is above 0%. For the entire region of canceling out the negative affinity it does absolutely nothing for you.
How does Weakness Exploit work with weapons that have zero base affinity? Does it add 50% affinity or multiply your affinity by 50%? In other words, would your affinity become 50% when attacking a weak spot or would it still be zero because 50% of zero is zero?
>People ITT rushing the urgents, then b***hing about it not being hard enough
I haven't even beat lunagaron, I've been doing all the follower sidequests, trying out weapons I'm rusty with, making armor.
It's your own fricking fault you're so impatient.
And no Monster Hunter after your first is genuinely difficult barring outlier quests.
all they had to was just put the new switch skills in mr2, maybe 3 and sprinkle some new dudes in there too and no one would of rushed ahead >remember these guys? well here they are, but AGAIN
The pacing in general of SB needs some work.
Drop the new skills and several new monsters down a tier or two, move Malzeno up, and introduce afflicted monsters earlier to build up Gaysmeghorn.
The first half of Sunbreak is a bunch of old shit then suddenly it drops all the new stuff on you at once.
It gets tiring >fight at least 2-3 old monsters that are barely changed up and the ones that had an apex don't keep those moves >here, fight a variant >do it again >here, fight a lord >repeat for the first 4 ranks
Welcome to Monster Hunter threads. Autists rush the "end" to farm melding pot while either Snoys/Tendies depending on the game being discussed shitpost how "easy" it is or how "there is no content" while doing the bare minimum key quests and stop the minute they beat the "final" boss and the credits roll.
>nooo you can't use the new kinsects until mr3 because... because! >nooo no new switch skills until mr4 because... because!
Capcom should actually stop doing this shit for literally no reason. It doesn't give you a sense of progression.
>you slap Fiorayne's ass during every hunt >do it again hunter sempai i want to hunt with you forever >Bahari asks her to eat well >ewwww get away from me nerd
>lancegays complained about their weapon to no end prior to sunbreak release and were envious of LS >LS got steamroll nerfed and you need to completely re-learn it to deal good damage >lance is now strong as frick
IS a bombardier and still uses, the mega bombarrell, the wyvernstake and the spinning loops, I haven't noticed a thing because It hasn't happened to me.
It's bugged to all frick and replaces you cat abilities with random ones he gets from lottery, how did you not notice that.
My cat still uses health horn, vase and bubbles alongside the fortune stuff.
IS a bombardier and still uses, the mega bombarrell, the wyvernstake and the spinning loops, I haven't noticed a thing because It hasn't happened to me.
Is there much to do after killing Gaismagorm?
I thought the pacing of Sunbreak was a bit shit, really hoping the endgame makes up for it otherwise I'm going to be disappointed
>muh deeps, muh clear times
Or maybe, just maybe, people want to unlock all the tools and actually start fighting new monsters capcom locks away for basically no reason.
>the single actually new monster you'll see between mr1 and monke is the crab you fight to enter mr >literally a single new monster that isn't a variant per rank until malzeno >half of your new switch skills are locked behind mr4 >if you like IG all the new kinsects are locked behind mr3 >but this is acceptable pacing and totally fine
All the new MR3 Kinsects sucks, I'm still using my Charge rarity 7 kinsect because is actually better with kinsect slash.

uh? I have power extender is the same thing.

>is the same thing.
No, even with power extender you eventually need to do it again. New assist is play well and forget about doing it beyond the first time.
Not all of them, but there should be a decent pacing of new shit. I've already fought these mons in the vanilla game. MR1 and 2 should have more than just 2 new monsters combined.
Who said anything about muh dps? I was asking if the post-game is any good, sunbreak has an issue with a lack of interesting low-mid tier monsters to fight
I have gotten the game recently and have done zero village quests.
what am I missing out on? I'm at sunbreak and have many things unlocked I can't think of a single thing village quests do
There is literally no point to village in this game. It's really half assed. Just one cutscene. No unique monsters, no unique story, you gain absolutely nothing from it.
village was supposed to be the tutorial for LR/HR and getting mats easily but as it is today is totally useless, you would know that if you have played the game on launch.
>Low Rank Shagaru Magala
Oh yeah, you're right. I forgot that you could only get LR shaggy armor in 4U. Doing Heaven's Wheel for the first time was fricking amazing. So happy he's back in Rise, though I haven't fought him yet.
>every rank now has two dozen quests >You need to complete 7 specific ones to unlock the next urgent >The ones you need are unmarked and randomized for everyone so you can't look them up
2 staged morph combo gives power phials like 80% amp if you use it with power axe buff
elemental counter instantly amps your weapon
there's no reason to avoid power phial now
Maybe it's because I fought new monster I have no experience against(green flying guy) but gs counter feels crap without 3 wire bugs
I consistently dodge after hit/use sheath one leaving me with no bugs for counter
It legitimately depends on what weapon you're using. Powder Glaive is fricking comedic and turned my entire "master" rank experience into a fricking joke. Way easier than Iceborne for sure.
Iceborne wasn't too hard outside of a few endgame monsters, but rise and sunbreak are much easier still, hunter powercreep is worse than ever before with wirebugs and certain switch skills
I'm so fricking sick of this game, and this isn't even a World gay thing. >Wirebugs are a universal get out of jail free card, especially since Wirefall recharges very fast >Switch Skills are omnipresent and you will use them constantly alongside your strongest move because the game has no commitment >Refilling at Base Camp completely throws off the balance of the game and there's genuinely no reason not to use it
Removal of all preparation >Monsters now have massive sweeping moves and insane levels of tracking so no matter what they will hit you >Huntards are too strong, all the new moves and counters and how easy it is to fill up multiple skills is moronic as all Hell >Now everyone online brings a pet with them, splitting the monster's attention between you, all 2-4 pets, the other hunters, and other smaller monsters that no longer leave when monsters show up like the old games, making them turbo morons who never stop moving or attacking >over-reliance on counters, and on top of every other system there is no motivation to actually learn monsters since you can always counter, you can always wirefall, you can always just refill >The game just lays out all the monsters on the map, self explanatory >Invading monsters show up, smack other monsters, then leave, making invaders a pure net gain
There are other issues but these are the biggest that I've noticed. Frick this, I'm going back to the old world.
t.2000 hours of Rise
I was expecting bait but I can't really disagree with your points, Rise is fine for a one-off thing I guess, but the next game better fricking reign it in and be a bit more traditional otherwise I'm not interested
>just got the new switch skills
Is the Lunagaron SnS and IG any good? I wanna try out the new skills.
All of the blademaster weapons are good, usually a good holdover until Malzeno or Gaismagorm
How would you fix him?
make it a -garon-lite
Rise fixed him
Faster, more damage, more synchronicity with his pack.
hand him to Suzuki.
I remain... unbeaten... uncontested.....
>clutch claw
Reduced to sub-world quality, opinion discardrd
don't use it? world win again
world always wins, feels good to be a worldchad
Fun and optional
>Optional
Enjoy your best hitzone being a 15.
>1-2 minutes longer hunt
THE HORROR
>fun
nice cope
it would've been okay if they removed that mechanic after Shara. Once you start grinding it becomes apparent that you have to do that shit mini game to be remotely efficient.
There are very few monsters that somewhat benefit from that gimmick which is Uragaan, Rajang and Behemoth
>optional
>post-IB monsters covered in shitzones to account for clutch claw
>post-IB monsters have almost no natural downs or insanely fast down recovery to account for clagger/wallbangs
The game turns into a fricking chore if you treat the claw as "optional", and using the claw is also a chore. Going back to base World monsters that weren't balanced about the worst thing in the game was the best IB ever got.
oh no worldtrannies
>sequel that just had a major expansion release has more players than its predecessor from three years ago
Wowza!
I kept going for much longer after ignoring CC and my enjoyment of hunts only went up because I wasn't bothering with the most tedious mechanic.
without using CC, there were not enough openings until you mastered their patterns
I hated IB because everything felt like a spastic moron with no openings to incentivize wallbangs/tenderizing
how's sunbreak in comparison? I seen every fricking weapon has counters now and there's a wall bang spider so I'm worried it's gonna be just as moronic
what's the best switch axe phial?
Power
why?
Universal usage, gives +20% raw
in base rise every phial is equally viable, the only thing holding back power phial was it long charge time but since sunbreak introduced so many ways to amp up your sword mode Power phial is king once again.
Post YFW neo-Lance
Every *DIING* *thwack THWACK* is pure dopamine
>MR Narga
>Literally non stop *DING*s once you get your reads right
>picture doesn't have "P" button
come on
Dare I say based. I'm running an ice build with the Barioth armor set because it looks so fricking cool
how do i lance? do i just spam the silkbind counter and when the monster is downed x3 thrust + shieldbash cancel?
First, equip shield tackle. Poke 3 times, reset the combo with shield tackle, silkbind guard things as needed for the buff/whatever.
I used lance and finished a hunt and noticed I liteally didn't use a sinlge healing item the entire time. I wonder if anyone has tried lance with Malzeno's unique skill.
Krekkov is an degenerate artist but also a Lance gigachad. He's one of the best lance user I've ever seen. Look into his twitter clips.
>I wonder if anyone has tried lance with Malzeno's unique skill.
1 point of it is all you need, I hope you can get it on a charm or else I'm literally never getting rid of this chest
I hear the skill is good but I don't want to use it because I want to be good enough not to need it
farming Bazel, is capturing or killing better for getting a Mantle?
Cap is better for everything unless it's one of those items you literally can't get except from carves.
Use 2 gathering cats, craft good luck decos and have Capture Master, literally tons of rewards
>craft Good Luck decos
that shit requires those fricking Almudron orbs that never fricking drop ever
might just try use that Ibushi/Narwa stuff and hope I don't get obliterated
There is a set craftable from backroom deals that has good luck, capture master, and Weak exploit 3
>missing one chest to get the full good luck
damn, oh well, thank you very much for the tip
and goddamn this set looks cool
What is that set called?
Fighting on MR increases drop rate by a lot
Does she say the same in japanese? I don't trust localizers with lore details like this when it's most likely because of the meme
laying an egg out of nervousness is a figure of speech, ESL-kun
No its not. Its canon that wyverians give birth through laying eggs. Fricking newbie is this ur first monhun?
That does not seem like an egg someone could metaphorically lay in front of an audience
le funny no dragonsphire faec
I just want the fricking final boss waist. and the hammer. and the sns. frick this is going to take forever
Any reason to use hail cutter over bullet barrage?
you use hail cutter for faster BBs
Are the seregios weapon any good?
they have decent stats but no element means you're limited to raw-only weapons, and they have worse sharpness than alternatives with similar or better stats iirc
removing innate roll sharpen kind of kills them
Mmh I was looking for a good GS upgrade but I'll stick to gossip for now, maybe I'll give the diablos one a shot
I've been using Gore weapons into Shagaru. Shagaru weapons seem to pretty much just be Nargacuga weapons but better stats, though the slots aren't as good.
I played gs through progression as well, I think lunagaron is the earliest power spike you can get because of the purple sharp
>remove roll sharpen
what were they thinking, it was a stupid mechanic but nice to have, now its a fricking armor skill.
I hate where this whole armor building is going to. There is no point in wearing a full armor anymore not even more than one part. Not even those special armor skills are unique anymore. Can't wait for for the Valstrax soul rampage deco.
I unironically hope that with the last update we get a new Fatty armor that literally gives you all skills, just to frick with OCD meta trannies and draw a line to completely redo the skill system with the next game.
do you really have to ask, how new are you?
I hate to be the bearer of bad news but there has basically never been any reason to use a full set ever. The problem with Rise is skill choice is really simple for most weapons and some armor pieces are moronicly good individually and there's calculators now.
meh, games are piss easy so I do it anyway until I unlock layered
>here has basically never been any reason to use a full set ever
factually wrong
name a better LR armor than Rathalos in MHGU or Valstrax in base Rise.
Full armor is boring, I'm talking about set bonus, its about going full clown. You never wore 5 separate pieces in any old games, not even in World with the new skill system thanks to secret skills
>name a better LR armor than Rathalos in MHGU
Bujabujabu
Rathalos fullset doesn't get good until HR and even then you have Dreadking to top it.
where is your argument, sis?
>LR armors have less skills
congrats for you 29IQ post
Valphalk is so good that it will carry you easily to MR4
you just know
>stupid black cat and stupid purple cat rape me hard
>think I'm getting worse
>do mizu expecting the worst
>murder it in cold blood
>same with the rest of early rank 4
That was interesting I guess.
Is there a way to few the female armor sets before buying an edit voucher?
In game? No. There's videos on Youtube of a show of every armour set so you can just watch one.
Damn, I forgot how good magnamalo theme was
Definitely best hr flagship theme in franchise, and no lagi just reused moga woods theme
>steve is more aggressive and much harder to trip to death
>gore is practically unchanged and maybe even a little slower
I'm not up to shaggy yet but I hope he's hard.
I played 4U and already fought Shaggy a shitload, his moveset is super exploitable because if you stay under his legs and move into him he can't do a lot. Gore is the same way.
Whats the fastest way to farm master rank?
is that a modded outfit or something in the game?
https://www.nexusmods.com/monsterhunterrise/mods/853?tab=description
What are the chances of 3 beast gems and a large beast gem?
What elemental weapons are the most important to get? Heard that elemental attacks are in fact viable with switchaxe, and not what I had heard before that you should only go raw.
I guess water is a big thing as a lot of monsters are fire-based?
Really, the way to go is just to make a Swaxe for each element, and make sure they're using elemental phials.
If element is somehow king make Almudron's SA for both Water and Fire, Barioth or Lagombi for Ice, Narwa for Lightning and Valstrax for Dragon.
Someone remind me, were the controller layouts always so bad in these games? I haven't played an MH title in years, and sheath and unsheath being different buttons fricks me up every time.
You'll get used to it
Finally got purple sharpness - with 100% effective crit rate and CB3, Sacred Sheathe does INSANE damage for how easy it is to pull off. It fits right in to LS kit as well and just feels generally amazing
Loving Sunbreak so far, really glad to have a viable alternative to Helm Breaker finally.
I don't like sacred sheath
you get used to it
someone said iai is doodoo now and to just use foresight slash but I like switching back and forth because the set switch dodge with ee3 makes me feel like a ninja
I dunno the frick I'm doing wrong with foresight slash but the follow up whiff 2 times out of 3 it's maddening, I didn't had this issue before
What's not to like? After Sacred combo, go right back into white with additional RT input, Silkbind Swap into Special Sheathe w/ Iai (and Sakura Slash) to get immediately back to Red, rinse and repeat.
Not saying it's bad, just that I dunno it doesn't click with me is all.
an alternative -- or an outright superior replacement?
I'd have to do the math, but I do over 2k damage with a fully charged Sacred Sheath combo + Spirit Reckoning combo using just the Frostmoon Paleblade and unoptimized R8 gear.
Capcom knew exactly what they were doing. I wonder how she feels when a huntress smacks her ass.
>Luchika never heals
>you're also her only hunting partner
>you end up slapping her ass on almost every mission
She probably develops a taste for it by the end
>Every time you go out hunting with them, you notice a growing wet patch in their crotch area
Why are they like this?
>do the first quest with her
>"never heals"
>she starts talking
>mfw
>The izuchi greatsword at mr2 doesn't get white from handicraft
What a waste.
Does Sunbreak do that thing where its more worthwhile to just bumrush to the endgame so you can unlock MR progression?
Yes, it also locks your final skills to mr4.
Some completely moronic choices.
The new skills are locked until MR4 so yeah.
no, monsters are the most fun if you fight them on their respective level (appropriate equipment)
unless you want to whine about those 2 extra switchskills which are more or less important for some weapons/playstyles
>LS - irrelevant
>DB - mostly irrelevant
>HH - mostly irrelevant
>GS - somewhat relevant
>SnS - somewhat relevant
>Hammer - relevant (new playstyle)
>GL - relevant
dunno about the other weapons
You can fight later monsters without upgrading your equipment to match them you know?
>can fight later monsters without upgrading your equipment to match them you know
you can also pay a hooker and then only frick her on the third date you know?
dogs exists for solo play to sharpen your sword on.
>
Plus
Sunbreak is honestly pretty moronicly backloaded.
You fight like 4 new monsters from MR1-3 and then suddenly every second fight is a new monster after that, I wish that there were one or two earlier monsters.
Holy frick the Citadel is such a good map there's no way they can get rid of the wirebugs or not have an equivalent movement mechanic in future games, these maps need it
AAAAAAAAAAAAAA PIRATECHADS
IM NOT GOING TO MAKE IT
WHAT THE FRICK DO I DO NOW
Just buy the game you dumb motherfricker.
oh shit bros we in there
I want Minoto not the fatfrick
Sunbreak added great monsters and it was fun. Until Anomaly quests. Frick Anomaly quests.
What's bad about them? I haven't unlocked them yet.
you just know
What weapon changes do you guys like the most? I mostly played DB in vanilla rise, but would like to try out GS or IG maybe
SnS is king
lance is functional now compared to base rise
Kinsect Slash has majorly increased my enjoyment of IG.
All 3 combo styles are great to play, totally outdone themselves.
i like SA's wirebug counter for finally freeing me from ZSD spam, it does ridiculous damage, and looks cool as hell. Plus the wirebug dodge SA gets is bonkers as well, it's like absolute evasion with no cooldown, it's really silly.
GS, Wide GL, CB, SA, and SNS are peak fun
>CB
>Fun
I just reached MR4, where is the fun?
when you get used to firing pin and skill swap
I feel like firing pin is very dangerous, and only works on condensed slash, my style is wild axe (or what is left of it), I know it hits harder but hitting the monster again on the same spot is a hassle for me with CB
it's not so bad when you use regular morph to axe and vanilla AED, and the appeal of firing pin is getting to use those with constant morphing between sns-axe anyway since non-pizza cutter CB is just SAED fest
Been doing every quest before I move MR but based on this thread I should just do the main ones to finish asap then go back with the new skills and charm options.
>They made cats even better and gave dogs next to nothing new
As it should be
I almost want to experiment with dogs again because I remember in base Rise they actually attack WAY more frequently
Yeah but I don't wanna go slow
>He's too fat to spiderman his way through the maps
lm@o'ing at ur life
>Let you get to the monster quicker
>Don't trivialize the fights
Dogs remain the patricians choice
what is the cat "meta" if anything at all
2 fighters for maximum rousing roar uptime?
Two gathering palicos for progression, two umbrella dogs for speed kills.
2gathercat is giving me an entire second quests worth of rewards every time, in addition to all the random shitmon parts like remobra heads.
I've come to realization that if you bring a dog to a quest you're a fricking egoist, because dogs don't add anything to the fight, hell most of the fights (if not all) never bring the silkbind binder wich would make them somewhat useful but no, just deadweight, meanwhile my cute bombarder car pulling Kittenators out of the ass.
like I needed any more reasons to keep 2 cats. Frick palamutes, Im not changing
yeah not until the modders finally make a palamute dick mod
FREE HER
Am I the only one that's finding this game to be the easiest monster hunter yet
Like I'm getting sub 8 min kills on most monsters and this is supposed to be master rank
I've just beat the new mud monkey dude, does the game get harder?
it's quite easy
It will get harder after monkey, MR3 is a big step up. Still, if you're already finding this to be the "easiest" monhun yet, then maybe you'll continue to find it easier. I personally don't see how it's easier than World/IB, but maybe something with your weapon or knowledge has just clicked for you.
Who did it best?
Are Gathering Palicoes the best? What passives and skills should I aim for?
In my experience the best is make sure cat has status attack up. For the 3 variable skills I assume the best is probably
Whirlwind Assault
Power Drum
Shock Tripper
barioth is a very unpleasant fight as a greatsword user, guy never stops moving
Try to break his arms as soon as possible if you can
I'm MR3, what's a good build for gunlance?
Just go Basarios or Bazel, fix it with talisman and decorations for polish ,EE and wirebug whisperer.
Later on get Lunagaron for Redirection and clown suit everything else, redirection with evade extender is pure crack on gunlance.
rate my "i don't understand what am i doing with this GL" build
It's GL, so long as you've got artillery, load shells and evade extender you can pretty much do what you want. Though for personal preference I can tell that you are in fact based because I disdain anyone who over stacks on damage skills on GL to buff non explosions.
>no guard 4-5
do you even comfy? you dont even need to play the game
>blocking
>with GL
>ever
Just dodge bro, what do you think EE is for.
no, the map is MY territory i refuse to move, the monster will come to me and waste his time hitting my shield and slowly die to explosions
shoot, shoot, erupting canon, jump backward, guard reload, jump forward, shoot, shoot, erupting canon, repeat, bullet barrage, that's how i play GL now
Blocking is obsolete in Sunbreak once you get Redirection.
Enjoy getting hit by multihits
You wot, the evade with EE3 takes you out of range of any multihits.
Why do a majority of good armor pieces require the rarest fricking drop? It took me 10 hunts to get a fricking Ajanath Mantle for the Waist piece.
Wow.. It's almost as if... They want you to play the fricking game
Mind=blown
homosexuals complained about "no content" with base rise
enjoy your content
Isn't the new Rathalos waist strictly better?
I got mine on 2nd MR Anjanath kill from the non-key quest kek.
Where to get large herbivore bone?
herbivores
From rhenoplos
Cheers
Either Rhenopolos or the gowngoat things in the citadel.
Sell me on Lance. I'm thinking about giving something other than SnS a try.
boge boge boge :--DDD
Makes you feel fricking untouchable once you get good.
>pop a boner everytime i see Fiorayne's tight ass in the loading screen
This has to be intentional
I just started the expansion and man she's just pure sex
It helps that she's actually competent in gameplay too, hell she's better than like 75% of shitters online.
They also don't intentionally nerf the damage either. Chances are she's probably doing more damage to the monster than you are.
What damage nerf are you referring to?
As in they don't reduce the NPC hunter damage in fear of the being too much of a crutch. You can literally sit back and they will eventually kill the monster for you without you needing any input.
Oh wow thats really surprising.
>lusting after a coalburner
So of all the new sub-species, who you think got the best overhaul? Bishaten feels like an actual fight now.
Auroracanth is at least not a complete fricking pushover, which is a step up from regular somnacanth
At leas Somnacanth has decent sleep gear, Auroracanth doesn't have anything remotely worth to fight for,
It's not like having worthless gear is a new problem for monsters, and melee sleep weapons aren't worth much anyway without big stats to back them up like gog's
Man, gog weapons and their tiny sliver of natural purple were just one game too early to benefit from protective polish
Since the sticky and slicing ammo got nerfed piercing ammo build is the way to go now right?
piercing amo with aniything bigger than a arzuros is an absolute beast.
I don't even have Atack up skill and still wreck so many shits, but annoying monsters who moves arround the stage like Barioth are a pain in the ass.
do all the buffs/nerfs to motion values apply even if i didnt start sunbreak yet?
Yes
Any ui mods for sunbreak? The old one causes freezing n shit
>Women
Sorry, what's that? we can't define that word anymore
Eggs I wonder what they smell like
Anchor Rage or Spiral Thrust? What are the actual damage bonuses?
haha look at it go!
you can stack their buffs brewski
absolutely nowhere feels safe to attack garangolm,
Garangolm is easy to attack on the braces but don't go too moronic.
Left side clear
Right side clear
Good to go!
Would be embarrassing if she tripped and fell over and you could see her pantsu
Any MR1-2 weapons worth a go? I have the izuchi GS and will probably make the barroth hammer.
Rathian's
>beat multiple G-Ranks
>get steamrolled by low rank Barroth every game I play
nyo.........
Anyone else immediately leave a quest if there are more First Aid Meds gone than people in the quest prior to you joining? If I join and there are two people but all four are gone, I'm done. People are just admitting they are shitters by needing that many.
Literally who gives a shit
you must be a blast at parties.
not at all because the game throws potions and mega potion at you and crafting is a thing homie just get a ivy.
No because I'm not a moron sperg. I don't even check the box anyway. Also you've posted this in so many MH threads now. Shut the frick up.
I think it's mildly annoying because it gives me the impression the people I just joined are selfish fricks but not to the point of sperging out like that, no.
Most quests at most one other person joins before I'm done, so I usually take 2 or 3 to save on Mega Potions, you're just a Black person
I got too engrossed in hunting that I forgot to upgrade my weapon. I beat the final boss with my rarity 8 weapon.
>up to MR5
>sudden realization that there's a lot of fricking talking and cutscenes compared to base game
weird
the talking I can get it but the cutscenes are literally skippables.
Just watched three people in a span of 30 seconds die to Anomaly Kappas waddle charge. Fricking hilarious.
Does every monster have an anomaly version? Is there anomaly Teo that shits out an explosion to block you from breaking his explosion parts?
No, from what I've heard the anomaly quests stop fairly early in the monster tiers. I don't actually think any of the elder's have anomaly versions. Wait for the title updates.
>A year for a title update
>Another year to fight the rest of the monsters
Nothing quite like selling your game incomplete again to drip feed content you have ready pretending you worked on it.
I've placed every great wirebug in every map that I can and I still have 2 left over
why?
In case they add another dlc zone
I checked every map and there's no more israeliteel lilies anywhere
you forgot 2
Switch Axe bros, how are we feeling? not the biggest fan of the new switch skills so far, made the lunagoron weapon though and it slaps pretty hard.
At MR4 now and it's probably about time to upgrade my gear, starting to get 1-tapped.
What is wrong with it? Its basically the old skills, which were fun already, with a slightly different combo off wild swing that you can use if you feel like it, and a very powerful counter to fill the lack of counter it had in base Rise. Honestly feels great.
>All the new shit is mr4-5
Should I just rush through or what? I've been doing every mission up until this point.
I'd rush through it just to get your talisman melding ability so you don't waste all that time hunting.
Yeah, the MR doesn't track either. So dumb, Just going to do keys.
are there any camps in the citadel map?
The little bit that sticks out at the top right. It's hard to find so look around some.
>Done with the story
>Check out what's after
>Literally just "fight 2 Rajangs or a wienertail of elder dragons and monsters thrown together
>First title update is the Seething Bazelgueuse for some reason
I would have taken a recolor literal anything else or hell even more rampage quests, at least they changed the pace a bit
Follower quests replaced Rampage and there is a frickton of them. You are more than welcome to return to Kamura and sit in Rampages till the TUs release
>I'd take ramp
No, frick you, shut the frick up, moron.
I'm about to face espinas
should I be concerned as a Lance user or is it manageable?
No blocking invalidates his ailments.
Finally almost finished all mr3 quests, two more surveys with followers and can do werewolf urgent
Amount of quests is insane, only gu had more content to do
What mr unlocks weapon layering?
None MR. that feature didn’t arrive in Iceborne until the last update IIRC so we’re probably gonna be waiting until 2023 for that.
Post screenshots
Thas a big Goss
i want to believe your pic is real and that goss harang is king size
>Fart cat gets a variant
>Goss doesn't
It's made up for by how much Goss got buffed in MR.
Still stings a little tho.
punished big goss
a bear denied his variant
>timing strongarm stance right can proc offensive guard so you can get another 15% damage on your TCS hits
Blights don't have diminishing returns, so adding that to weapon would 4u's mounting 2.0 shitfest
You're not particulary wrong but I like to use element, and the game aren't difficult enough to make me -need- to minmax my shit so I just bring whatever shit I want.
Yeah, it's just that the RPG nerd in me wants to be rewarded at least a little bit for min/maxing like bringing the right element or building the weapons in the first place, outside of Bow and DS, elemental is often just pretty worthless
>gathering palicos are still far and away the best type
man why even do this kind of system and make one so head and shoulders better than all the rest
I like my mad bombercat
Love the new firework bomb
More I play Sunbreak more I get reminded that this is actually an alpha test for Dragons Dogma 2.
the quest girl says "strength in numbers" too, they're not even being subtle
>first almudron that i fight is king size
>somehow look smaller than normal size almudron
uhhhh
Post your custom guild card title
Thoughts about Smegma Almudron?
>hate the -garons
>naturally hate lunagaron too since it's just the same butthole but with more thorns
>get to its fight
>it roars
>turns into furry zamtrios
It still misses most of its attacks like a proper garon.
Is there anything to unlock, that is behind the village quests?
I'm MR2, and I'm only on like 2 star village quests.
A shit ton of good armours and weapons.
god i miss playing with HH, why the frick gunlance can be that FUN
>GS
>0
>miss Rise HH
>LS as the third most played weapon
Disgusting behaviour
i actually never know how to play LS, i only spam silkbind on multi
Is there day/night cycle on maps or am i crazy
there is, hell, on jungle at night starts to rain.
the quest type specifies if the map is day or night. you can pick if it's a exploration quest.
Comfy as frick.
anon, I could get this skill set with high rank armor
What armor pieces are you using?
Im using the guardian set and garangolm lance so theres a lot of good slots to work with. You unlock it doing one of the follower quests i think.
Is wirebug whisper worth slotting unto gl build
Do your quests you do before mr uncap save xp for the uncap?
>been playing hammer for most of MR1-3
>went from max charge all the time power stance to water striking every chance I get with courage
>never the two together
>so I literally never scroll switch
is this normal for most other weapons? the only other weapon I use is LS and I switch back and forth like a tard for meter and damage
Minoto's inferiority complex thinking she is worse than her sister is way sadder in sunbreak when she is trying to train to get strong like her sister. Meanwhile every single interaction with Hinoa is just lolfood
Nothing a good penising can't fix.
i WILL frick both of them
>Hinoa and Minoto
>Rondine and Fiorayne
The rise hunter has a type
even mh fell for the gameplay based narrative meme
>final quest in Sunbreak, "Hail to the Fierce", is Vs. Nargacuga, Seregios, Valstrax, and Malzeno
>because those are the G-rank flagships present in Sunbreak
I was initially confused about no Magnamalo, but they actually did put some thought into it
wanna get a perfect 100 in every weapon. i have no idea what im doing with dual blades. any tips?
Change your moveset to areal and become a beyblade
So Fiorayne actually got blacked by this Bahari guy?
GS-chads, Charge Slash or Surge Slash? Surge Slash seems pretty good, but Charge is probably better for monsters I know how to fight.
surge slash is kind of difficult to play properly and seriously lags behind on damage output, but it's useful against monsters that rarely stand still like seregios especially because it has that low sweeping combo
I keep both and swap as I need
Frontier had to store all its skills in that warehouse
how do we go back?
>1 defensive skill, 1 offensive skill and 1 QoL skill
>15 offensive skills, 1 defensive skill because you run out of offensive skills to slot in and 1 QoL skill because you only have level 1 slots left
I do kinda miss the days of third gen where a blademaster set with Honed Blade and your choice of other skills was considered the best.
Anyone ever finished a hunt using only Palamute attacks?
Why am i getting stuns with lance pokes? Am i going insane?
Any good starting point for a Pierce HBG setup?
I just wanna screw around with crouching fire again
izuchi or the royal guard hbg are really good
DAME DA NE
>reverse blast dash inflicts KO damage because you bash your head into monster on high speed
I still want to know why they added reverse blast dash. I'm not complaining, but it just seems odd.
Best options for dragon DBs?
what was your first cart in sunbreak?
Barioth.
It was an unfortunate serie of accidents
Were you sucked into the wombo combo?
It's kinda hazy, I do remember him doing the tail flip and getting hit by it, trying to wirebug recover but I did it in the wrong direction and got hit by the tail drag and then I'm not sure what happened, it was kinda fast
Tobi
I'm pretty sure he was my first cart in Rise too
Havnt carted yet because the game is so fricking easy.
Shogun Ceanataur. I still had my high rank armor there, but I just got stomped badly. I had no idea what to do with GS there and failed to break even a single part of its body yet somehow killed it at the end. I havent tried it again even after having MR gear.
Nargacuga. At half health from a few grazes here and there, I was distracted because my brother just carted, and he smacked me with the tail slam.
is there EVER a reason to want to wirefall outside of getting grabbed? just pretend wirebugs don't exist when you get thrown out the air
it looks cool
got one shot by a garangolm slam while still having my old HR gear
Haven’t carted yet but the Bishaten in Luchika’s first follower quest decided to fricking combo juggle me like he was fricking Dante for a full 30 seconds and I kept getting stunned repeatedly and ALMOST carted to it.
Khezu used his lightning ball attack and then jumped on me when I was stunned.
Haven't yet but will prolly once I hit MR4 or 5
Fricking Kulu. I have no idea how the turkey killed me but he did. Then came the obligatory Khezu combo and that's about it so far though I'm not very far in.
Valstrax double wing slam got me the same way in base Rise. Game needs more ledges at least 10x as many as 4U
Kulu, worse I carted to him when helped ramdons after already being mr3
waifugays btfo
What did she mean by this?
She's like the chicks from Johnny bravo and she's actually a palico probably tsukino and she's going to spray all over your shit to make sure you know you're her.s
>people with endgame gear hard carrying their newbie friends through Sunbreak killing the monsters in under 7 minutes
Business as usual. Either you're a solo hunter or the carrier/carriee.
>MR Narga
They finally fixed 5th gen Narga
>defender gear no longer cutting it
Well at least with the layered armor I don't have to wear a clown suit with a bunch of barroth and diablos parts.
why would you use defender gear
strong
sure but you are cheating yourself a little, its free update gear made for people to rush the game. if you want to do that you do you but rushing isnt so fun to me
>cut Astalos' tail
>don't get it
Plus the fricker keeps flying away as well.
>they actually put this fricking thing in the game
Level 4 bird caller dango is pretty gud. Makes you max out on the bird buffs pretty damn fast.
>Level 4 miracle worker
>Got two extra rewards
Thanks
>L4 miracle worker
>get a bomberry and some slashberrys
very cool
Espinas has high level autism or actual brain damage. Has anyone else noticed how often it stops attacking and just stares you? I have not seen any other monster do this.
He's /ourmonster/.
It's intentional behavior I think, he also takes forever to wake up if you hit him while sleeping
I want to think this is the case. He is just sleepy
he played too much elden ring
It is intentional, in frontier he didn't even fight back until hunters had dealt quite a bit of damage to him. Him stopping to just do nothing and taking a while to wake up are the toned down version of it.
His entire thing was that his armor is so tough, he won't pay attention to you til you hurt him enough.
Any charm editors working with Sunbreak?
God I'm so fricking glad he's back.
>Believing shitposters at all
>On Ganker of all places
You have a long way to go, anon
>Malzeno's and Gaismagorm's armour skills are all on different pieces so you can have max rank of both at the same time
Holy shit.
yeah this game is cringe and L
Skill issue.
Anon it's sarcasm
come on
is there a way to put the minimap on the top right instead
bros.... i recently started using lance.... is this normal?
i quite literally cannot die.
Lance is fricking strong in Sunbreak. This is with MR2 gear.
>those pathetic girly pokes do more damage in like 10 seconds than I do with my hammer in a minute
wtf man
We got screwed bro. We need impact crater gone and the damage split among all our other moves.
They also do about the same as a perfect wyvern dive lol
Capcom went full moron on the hammer balance this game. The damage disparity has actually gotten worse with SB, it's beyond fricking worthless.
How do you even do that? I thought lance was just poke, poke, poke, shield bash spam?
Poke lance is dead. You're either slapping, instablock countering, or spiral thrusting. Skyward thrust if you need to break a back.
That's literally just Insta-Guard. Though the blue is a well-timed guard-point from Spiral Thrust. I still don't get why that thing has a Anchor Rage style guard point on it.
What does the blue buff even do on spiral thrust? It lasts for like 15 seconds and comparing pokes, it seemed to do like 2 more damage
>370 and 546 with blue
>244 and 390 without it
the blue ran out just before the poke hit
10% damage buff. Anchor Rage is good by Spiral Slash is still stronger, and also has the gap closer utility which is even more important since monsters are ADHD now.
Evade Extender is so moronic now that with just a point you can backhop aggressively at monsters
I keep spiral thrust on my 2nd set for big gapclosers in multiplayer but I still fricking hate that move
doesn't matter, Hammer is pretty fun too.
I only do the max charge back and forth when the monster is downed
>kill Pyre Kadaki
>"alright let's see what the weapons are like"
>"hmm there's blast orangutan, blast marshmallow, and blast teo hammers but no pyre"
>realize there aren't even any regular Kadaki hammers
>"must just not be hammers specifically, I'm sure they made stuff for one of the other weapons I use"
>no spider sa
>no spider sns
>no spider gs
>no spider ig
What the flying frick is this piece of shit monster, did they even bother making any weapons for it?
moron
Last moron I saw who said they didn't make seregios weapons literally was just too stupid to find it in the weapon tree.
Alright homosexual, find the Pyre hammer. Or the greatsword. Or even the switch axe if they're just right there. Unless you're actually a moron too fricking braindead to think that maybe Capcom was lazy and didn't make fricking shit.
They only made 6 spider weapons and 3 of those are the gunner weapons (so worthless). Only CB, GL, and HH realistically get to use them.
They made instant block too good
it honestly feels broken as frick, shield tackle is busted - with fast clears and good dps too
i hope they dont nerf it
Any hammerbros? Why do I feel like I'm golfswinging more people than I ever have before?
Starting the slam combo magnetically attracts shitters to stand right next to you
Flinch free has made people too complacent. Everyone assumes that because they put 1 level of flinch free on their set that they're good to stand next to literally any ally attack instead of bothering to move slightly away.
People are just running into it now and I’ve hit a boat load of people with second charge swing on Courage style as well.
I think I've seen more Hunting Horn users today than my entire time playing the series.
>Garangolm urgent
>want to explore
>kill one of the fluffy herbivores
>Fiorayne says "What is WRONG with you?"
I can't believe I'm loving having followers.
they're absolutely delightful
They programmed them well enough that they are more helpful and full of personality than 95% of hunters I've met since World.
Also
>put down the trap just as monke was flying away
They captured the true monster hunter experience right there.
What are anomaly tickets for?
>LS having an ezmode counter that shits out damage and trivializes defence: cringe
>Lance having an ezmode counter that shits out damage and trivializes defence: based
Lance's counter is nowhere near as good as LS.
>Can get hit straight after parrying if it's a multihit attack
>cross slash relies on the monster being near you after you parry, as long as LS hits the attack, dmg comes out
>LS gets spirit buff just for countering
Lance deserves it after getting shit on in base rise
>Can get hit straight after parrying if it's a multihit attack
so can longsword
>cross slash relies on the monster being near you after you parry, as long as LS hits the attack, dmg comes out
LS can literally miss IAI if the monster is not next to you the second it comes out, it happens with a shit ton of tail and quick attacks
>LS gets spirit buff just for countering
Spirit buff is not a buff, it's required to reach the weapon's desired damage
lol
>>Can get hit straight after parrying if it's a multihit attack
Wrong
Let the victimized homosexuals have fun if it means they stop whining for 3 and a half seconds.
Are effects not strictly elemental but like poison and blast good for quick weapons? I can currently upgrade to the poison SnS rarity 8. Does it proc off shield attacks?
Shield bashes are pure raw. Status SnS is pretty great though. You can totally go either.
I see. I guess I want to mix in more sword attacks then from my normal shield bash rotation. Thanks.
SnS has been my favorite forever, now that we've got swap skills I usually get a KO with bashes before swapping to more offensive skills, I'm still trying to figure out what the new shield charge can do aside from what's obvious, if anything.
>making a mixed set for swaxe in mr3
i dont have the heart to get a barroth scalp in g rank
post killscreens
holy frick anyone else having fun with sacred sheath back to back counters? it's a lot more smooth than iai counter
That urgent Lunagaron had way more life than it had any right to. Fricker was already broken all over and still kept going for what seemed like half the fight and he just felt like a punching bag.
>using new gunlance online
>literally a billion of opportunities to land bullet barrages because monster is typically busy with other players
>chunking the monster for TCS tier damage every 20 seconds
Bullet barrage does over 5k damage?
>tcs does 5k damage very 20 seconds
where's the 3 minutes final boss clear gs?
Are the final boss weapons any good?
Is it worth putting crit skills with affinity that bad or should is it better to just try stacking attack?
Affinity is always worth it since mathematically going from -50% affinity to 0% affinity is the same as going from 0% affinity to 50% affinity. Might want to skip out on Crit Boost though since that only applies to when your affinity is above 0%. For the entire region of canceling out the negative affinity it does absolutely nothing for you.
Is final boss wep meta for most again
How does Weakness Exploit work with weapons that have zero base affinity? Does it add 50% affinity or multiply your affinity by 50%? In other words, would your affinity become 50% when attacking a weak spot or would it still be zero because 50% of zero is zero?
It's additive.
MR rathalos is such an unfun Black person holy frick.
>Final boss weapons look really cool
>Godawful affinity
What the actual frick
fatty weapons had -20%
>People ITT rushing the urgents, then b***hing about it not being hard enough
I haven't even beat lunagaron, I've been doing all the follower sidequests, trying out weapons I'm rusty with, making armor.
It's your own fricking fault you're so impatient.
And no Monster Hunter after your first is genuinely difficult barring outlier quests.
based, still sucks that you dont get MR progress though
all they had to was just put the new switch skills in mr2, maybe 3 and sprinkle some new dudes in there too and no one would of rushed ahead
>remember these guys? well here they are, but AGAIN
It gets tiring
>fight at least 2-3 old monsters that are barely changed up and the ones that had an apex don't keep those moves
>here, fight a variant
>do it again
>here, fight a lord
>repeat for the first 4 ranks
Welcome to Monster Hunter threads. Autists rush the "end" to farm melding pot while either Snoys/Tendies depending on the game being discussed shitpost how "easy" it is or how "there is no content" while doing the bare minimum key quests and stop the minute they beat the "final" boss and the credits roll.
Mh starts AFTER the credits roll.
>locking the rest of the skills behind midway mr4
Their fault not mine.
>nooo you can't use the new kinsects until mr3 because... because!
>nooo no new switch skills until mr4 because... because!
Capcom should actually stop doing this shit for literally no reason. It doesn't give you a sense of progression.
Fricking based and same. Im still MR 3 like 20 hours in
DAME FIORAYNE MY WIFE
So what the frick is with the back step slide on gs. Seems shitty.
Also how to get more rampage decos?
Be honest, you would
Oboro's bussy
I play only online. Never solo anything.
always sort of feels like i'm not learning the monster when its tracking is messed up
usually play online after soloing a bit first
I did this with GS, but i play HH in rise and just feels right playing 4 man hunts with it.
>you slap Fiorayne's ass during every hunt
>do it again hunter sempai i want to hunt with you forever
>Bahari asks her to eat well
>ewwww get away from me nerd
>lancegays complained about their weapon to no end prior to sunbreak release and were envious of LS
>LS got steamroll nerfed and you need to completely re-learn it to deal good damage
>lance is now strong as frick
relearn how? it's just one new attack
moron braindead LS user
That hermitaur picture request is fricking annoying
God I suck, I just took 30 minutes to hunt MR Rajang
GUYS HELP ME IM PLAYING GS AND I CAN'T STOP COOMING IT'S TOO GOOD.
Surge flash needs to be a permanent addition
>that malzeno lance design
lancebros... we won
Malzeno's EVERYTHING is great.
3 lords have wonderful designs in general
Monke's hammer is probably my favourite hammer design period
Ok, Am I the only one who carries his cat with Lottery? because my cat is literally the only one I've seen using the Kittenator
It's bugged to all frick and replaces you cat abilities with random ones he gets from lottery, how did you not notice that.
My cat still uses health horn, vase and bubbles alongside the fortune stuff.
IS a bombardier and still uses, the mega bombarrell, the wyvernstake and the spinning loops, I haven't noticed a thing because It hasn't happened to me.
>using cats
Is there much to do after killing Gaismagorm?
I thought the pacing of Sunbreak was a bit shit, really hoping the endgame makes up for it otherwise I'm going to be disappointed
Go kill some low to mid tier afflicted monsters and then wait because they "forgot" to add the rest!
>Rush every key quest because muh deeps, muh clear times
>complain about the pace as if anyone even gives a shit about pace in Monhun
When will you gays frick off from the series
You mean rush key quests because all the new content is locked behind higher MR, right?
>muh deeps, muh clear times
Or maybe, just maybe, people want to unlock all the tools and actually start fighting new monsters capcom locks away for basically no reason.
Damn you're right all the new monsters should be MR1. GIVE ME THE DOPAMINE RIGHT NOWWWWWWW
No, not all.
What is wrong with you? I'm staring to suspect you are a rabid nintendo fanboy.
>the single actually new monster you'll see between mr1 and monke is the crab you fight to enter mr
>literally a single new monster that isn't a variant per rank until malzeno
>half of your new switch skills are locked behind mr4
>if you like IG all the new kinsects are locked behind mr3
>but this is acceptable pacing and totally fine
All the new MR3 Kinsects sucks, I'm still using my Charge rarity 7 kinsect because is actually better with kinsect slash.
I can't hear you over the sound of my three extract buff never running out.
How is Bow now? I was thinking that or HBG.
>MAKE EVERY QUEST A KEY QUEST
>90% OF ALL b***hING STOPS
weird.
mhgu was gay don't do that
no frick you I struggled to even clear mh games when I couldn't tell key quest from normal quests
for me? it's going back and killing HR monsters with my MR weapons
>need some HR monster parts
>go back and coop HR missions
>that clear sense of confusion in the air when monster just fricking dies within 2 minutes
yeah I beat Valstrax at MR2, what about it?
I have gotten the game recently and have done zero village quests.
what am I missing out on? I'm at sunbreak and have many things unlocked I can't think of a single thing village quests do
Some dango varieties and the first 1/3rd of Rise's story.
>No unique monsters
When did village quests ever have exclusive monsters?
Caedeus
Low Rank Shagaru Magala
>Low Rank Shagaru Magala
Oh yeah, you're right. I forgot that you could only get LR shaggy armor in 4U. Doing Heaven's Wheel for the first time was fricking amazing. So happy he's back in Rise, though I haven't fought him yet.
In Tri you had to do it for the Caedeus. I farmed that fat fricking cow so many times, the armor wasn't even good but damn if I didn't use it forever.
I really miss world bros... why didnt they just build upon what world created instead of going backwards with rise?
Paz's idle animation makes me want to slit her throat.
>animation
>voice
>personality
>dialogue
Her everything deserves to get raped and vored by a khezu.
She can't help it, she's a nuHH user
No seriously, wtf are anomaly tickets for? They say go to the Smithing bawd but there isn't anything there to do with them.
Im a moron and I need a good armor and Hammer set for MR2
Spoonfeed me please
you don't need a new set until MR4
Hunter X will carry you through most of the story. Just use Kamura hammer until you find something you like.
Who else /rath set/ here?
I'm rocking full Squire like my wife Fiorayne.
There is no difference in the end. You attack so many times to complete a hunt that the swing from luck is very minor.
moron here, what weapons like having high affinity and what weapons prefer high raw damage?
Goss' IG pairs really well with skills that boost affinity since whenever you go past 0% affinity you hit like a truck.
Weapons that have damage components that can't crit, it's not rocket science
Things like SA, CB, Bowguns
You forgot GL
GL doesn't even care about raw
>every rank now has two dozen quests
>You need to complete 7 specific ones to unlock the next urgent
>The ones you need are unmarked and randomized for everyone so you can't look them up
The progression we needed
Malzeno is probably the best flagship they had since forever, both in terms of gameplay and story
shagaru's big frickin hands are so obnoxious when playing hammer
haven't played the french stick since 4U, how do I into it now
>even with unoptimized mr3 gear, swaxe elemental counter dishes out nearly 1k damage
>there's a low poly lagiacrus that swim in the distance on jungle
where?
For Swaxe, should I just stick with the sexiest exhaust axe I can find, or is there a reason to use something else?
2 staged morph combo gives power phials like 80% amp if you use it with power axe buff
elemental counter instantly amps your weapon
there's no reason to avoid power phial now
Maybe it's because I fought new monster I have no experience against(green flying guy) but gs counter feels crap without 3 wire bugs
I consistently dodge after hit/use sheath one leaving me with no bugs for counter
How does powder vortex interact with heal powders? Does it explode into healing? I want to learn the path of bugsplosions
My damage shower mod is putting people at like HR 300
are people really that high?
I was HR 200 before I stopped playing base Rise. I dont think its unreasonable.
I'm HR 244 in about 270 hours of play. It's not that unrealistic.
>270 hours of play
what have you been doing for the last 150 hours
Hunting, trying new builds, new weapons. having fun.
I'm HR322 on PC and 370 on Switch
How hard is Sunbreak compared to Iceborne?
Early mons IB > Early mons SB
Late mons SB > Late mons IB
It legitimately depends on what weapon you're using. Powder Glaive is fricking comedic and turned my entire "master" rank experience into a fricking joke. Way easier than Iceborne for sure.
Iceborne wasn't too hard outside of a few endgame monsters, but rise and sunbreak are much easier still, hunter powercreep is worse than ever before with wirebugs and certain switch skills
I'm so fricking sick of this game, and this isn't even a World gay thing.
>Wirebugs are a universal get out of jail free card, especially since Wirefall recharges very fast
>Switch Skills are omnipresent and you will use them constantly alongside your strongest move because the game has no commitment
>Refilling at Base Camp completely throws off the balance of the game and there's genuinely no reason not to use it
Removal of all preparation
>Monsters now have massive sweeping moves and insane levels of tracking so no matter what they will hit you
>Huntards are too strong, all the new moves and counters and how easy it is to fill up multiple skills is moronic as all Hell
>Now everyone online brings a pet with them, splitting the monster's attention between you, all 2-4 pets, the other hunters, and other smaller monsters that no longer leave when monsters show up like the old games, making them turbo morons who never stop moving or attacking
>over-reliance on counters, and on top of every other system there is no motivation to actually learn monsters since you can always counter, you can always wirefall, you can always just refill
>The game just lays out all the monsters on the map, self explanatory
>Invading monsters show up, smack other monsters, then leave, making invaders a pure net gain
There are other issues but these are the biggest that I've noticed. Frick this, I'm going back to the old world.
t.2000 hours of Rise
my condolences anon, its tough when you finally realize SOUL vs soulless
I was expecting bait but I can't really disagree with your points, Rise is fine for a one-off thing I guess, but the next game better fricking reign it in and be a bit more traditional otherwise I'm not interested
>None of the e-girls are available as followers
Way to make me never care about that feature ever.
Why won't Rathian give me herfricking weave? I've broken her wings 5 fights in a row and NOTHING AAAAAAAAAH
if I'm just spamming blast dash/bullet barrage while i still inflict poison?
good lance armor sets/pieces while progressing through master rank?
