Why are people spouting this? I play since freedom unite, and the game is like any other MH games in terms of difficulty. Village quests are very easy I'll give you that but once you start high rank it evens out.
No. The ability to counter getting knocked back and wirebug to 20m away and heal while running makes this game a joke. Not only does wirebug escape get you out of harms way. but it sheathes your weapon for free. If you have any master rank armor fully upgraded nearly nothing is one shotting you and if youre going into battle with less than full health or without moxie you deserve it.
Just enjoy that simple QoL adjustments have made a bunch of supposed hardened pro players break down and cry like the fricking b***h babies they really are. You just gotta get used to the fact that they disguise their crying as stern criticism. Just point and laugh, and enjoy the game.

All the other MHs have offered challenges that required me to really get good. Rise just doesn't really. At least not yet.

During the Archdemon fight Fio AI's bugged or something, she stayed in the same spot all the freaking hunt doing nothing but looking cute.
Took some hints from GE and made her a capable hunter waifu that plays well enough instead of sitting there doing nothing but hand you quests.
they didn't do the usual quirks what those type of characters usually have for example if she were written like the usual western stronk female

You can change them at the buddy plaza if you bring 3 cats' skill memory to 8
You can pick and choose whatever you want if you complete the buddy optional quests.
You have the power to easily make any dog or cat the way you want after doing all the side request from the dojo cat. The only thing you can't change is the Cats main two type of skill. I just wish I had more slots to make them GODS.

Rather than a new weapon, re-balance how blunt weapons work. Have it actually change depending on the weapon's model. Have the diablos dual blades be blunt and have the axe-like hammers do cutting damage. Hammer should still obviously always be KO king alongside HH but I feel like it could change which weapon you pick out of a given type. Also Frontier weapon length is cool. I don't want any new weapons.

So what was the deal with master hamon and the magnamalo subspecies? I think its based on that cursed sword samurai legend but i dont remember hamon ever mentioning anything about hunting a magnamalo and letting it escape.
In the Rampage that occured 50 years prior a Magnamalo was able break through the village's defenses and attack it directly despite Fugen, Hojo and Hamon's best efforts to repel it, I assumed that the Magnamalo that appears it Rise's story was the same one since that's how they talk about it but maybe Scorned Magna is meant to be the one from 50 years ago.

Ishvalda already shits on most other final bosses. The fact that the rise team failed three times between Narwa, Allmother, and Gaismogorm means they should stop trying altogether. Workd team fixed all the complaints about Xeno with Ishvalda and Xeno was already an ok boss.
Gaismagorm is okay but he's basically just a refreshed Akantor before the final phase, which you barely get to fight him in

Shara was a terrible fight that showcased exactly how stupid it was to balance the game around the clutch claw. Shara is loaded in shitzones, and it created fricking staggering quicksand that locks you into getting hit by sound blasts too. It's one of the worst final boss fights in the series yet.
Aesthetically it's second only to Ato though, it looks amazing and has some of the coolest looking gear in the series

What's support surveys?
looking to get into lance, what skills should i go for? is max guard and guard up necessary or what?
Yes and yes. Guard only needs to be around 3. Max Guard Up and Offensive Guard. Everything else is secondary.
Guard at least 3, 5 for comfort. They reduced guard knockback to pretty much how it was in Iceborne but some stuff like big fireballs and explosions will still stop your guard dashes or whatever
Guard Up 1 is nice to not insta die in an emergency but you'll get chipped hard even with the counters that otherwise prevent chip damage. 3 points is a pain in the ass and frick the base game for changing it to that but its not the worst thing.
Then just get sharpness skills, maybe a couple points of Constitution, then whatever for damage.
Max guard and guard up are good if you wanna be comfy but I only bother with guard 3 since instablock and anchor rage can compensate for moves with high knockback, and just 1 guard up because honestly you rarely use it anyway and it's a pain in the ass to slot in.
Then just max out offensive guard and probably weakness exploit too. Any space you have left just fill up with either comfy or damaging skills to your preference, just bear in mind lance tends to chew through sharpness pretty quickly
I've been playing without guard and guard up and doing fine with relying on silkbind moves and instablock but honestly I agree with the other posters. Having a few points in guard would make the weapon more reliable and flexible when you can block attacks with more abilities.
Am I missing something or are the Silkbind moves for Bow pretty shit compared to other weapons?

Bolt Boost and Herculean Draw are just buffs. Former is finicky to maximize its potential while the latter has a short buff duration.
Butcher's Arrow is useless
Aerial Aim is fun and good for hitting backs and wings but it's poor stamina regen while Focus Shot is "just" a dodge + stamina regen

Sunbreak is fun as frick, sure. But it sure ain't Monster Hunter.
You don't hunt Monsters, there's no prep-time, there's no investigation, there's no "hunting". You just accept a quest, jump on the map, instantly know where the Monster is, and you go after them and duke it out to the death.
Every mission feels like an arena mission .

The fireflies at least asked you to hunt/gather information on a monster before being a freebie. You still had to spend some time learning things about your hunt. It sucked, but it wasn't this bad.
Play a deer hunting game then moron, this series was never about sniffing farts and following neon LEDs to "track" monsters. In every game before World you had to just know where shit spawned, use a psychoserum, or wander until you found a monster

Well I feel like the old games were limitted by having set monster spawns in each mission. But with the new engine they could certainly randomize it and make the hunting aspect more fun.

I just like it because it allows me to mess around with different comfort skills. Feels like they skimped on it in MR, though, because you can't use Bludgeoner on it but they didn't give it a sliver of white sharpness like they did with blue in HR.
You sacrifice the purple sharpness damage multiplier to gain a lot more room in your build for other stuff. Without a need to focus on crit or sharpness you can utilize other damage sources like Bloodlust, Dereliction, Coalescence, Resucitate etc.
I haven't done the math on it, but being able to get all of those and 100% crit should make it competitive even with less base damage and sharpness multiplier.
The other way is to just use it with comfort skills which is plenty fine too. It's not a speedrun weapon but if you're having fun with it the extra minute on your hunt is okay.

With gloves being whatever.

Raw bow is close to elemental, so a solid raw bow will cover you until you want to min max for elemental match ups. Chameleos bow is perfect if you want spread. Take dodgebolt and 1-2 evade extender. Herculean draw also. Spam shots and power shot, use dodgebolt to maintain your charge level. Learning to counter attacks with the dodgebolt iframe is key to doing really good damage. Make sure to slot in the bow charge plus deco if your bow requires it, its a 20% dmg upgrade. Dmg typically consists of shoot - powershot - powershot - dodgebolt - repeat for as long as stamina will allow. Constitution and stamina surge are huge skills for bow, con 2 if you eat for stam and take dash juice, con 3 or upwards for comfort and no reliance on dash juice.

I dunno about IG, but for other weapons elemental has been buffed out the ass, and generally has some really good options. It seems now that if your weapon is capable of hitting even just a few times a second (although I hear elemental hammer even has some tools), then you're better off with elemental if the monster has good zones for it.
Generally speaking any fast hitting weapons tend to benefit from focusing around elemental damage and the IG falls into that category

Specifically the OTHER fire spider. Blast on a Gunlance is cool. More explosions.
I use long 8 because I like to BB more than full burst. Normal 8 is probably better for smaller monsters.
