Even a single point of crit boost is valuable regardless of whether you max out crit or not. It’s a 30% bonus to your damage whenever you land a crit, which will defacto be 50% of the time if you can consistently land hits on good hit zones.
>Is crit eye 2 better than crit boost 2 if I only have 50% affinity with wex?
Damage w/o skills: (1*.5)+(1.25*.5)= 1.125
Damage w/ 1 level of Crit eye: (1*.45)+(1.25*.55)= 1.1375
Damage w/ 1 level of Crit boost: (1*.5)+(1.3*.5)= 1.15
>no damage
Skill issue >consumes sharpness at a ridiculous level
There's skills to combat sharpness loss, you know. >and is a literal meme
The only meme here is how butthurt bullet barrage made you.
longsword was my first, and i had loved the hate that i got online because of it. it makes veterans seethe. remember to use it close to your coop members so you can knock them the frick outta your way :*~~
>I want something simple and well-suited for beginners
Sword & Shield
Hammer >I want something with BIG damage numbers, I'm fine with getting slapped around until I git gud
Greatsword >I want something with speed so I can dodge more easily
Dual Blades >I want something with great defense so I can block attacks
Lance >I want something extremely easy because I'm a homosexual
Longsword >No, I mean I'm a HUGE homosexual
Light Bowgun
Do not listen to people who act like you have to choose one and stick with it. If you aren't trying out multiple weapons and mixing it up, you're missing half the game.
New player friendly weapons:
Longsword - simple to get the basics of the weapon down, scales hard as you learn how to play and can actively counter attacks
Hammer - very simple attacks, can hold charge for as long as you need and snipe openings, nice for learning which moves you can punish. it isn't a damage powerhouse so this holds it back somewhat, but is perfectly capable
Switch Axe - very simple combos with high damage, is more involved than the previous two as you have two guages to manage, but you don't need to do anything special to make this work
Dual Blades - fast attacks, straight forward to use effectively and has good mobility.
Weapons to avoid:
Bowguns - these are in their own bubble of playstyle, not complicated but might be confusing for a new player. what you learn with this weapon will not carry over to other weapons
Charge Blade - you need to know specific inputs for this to work in the slightest, not particularly complex but you could do without having all of this to worry about while just learning how the game works
Gunlance - feels slow and requires a lot of time sunk into the weapon just to deal somewhat comparable damage to any other weapon just mashing buttons
Bow - involves stamina management and a lot of armor skills that are only useful for this weapon before it starts to play comfortably.
Try all of them in the training area and take them out on a real hunt at least once to find the perfect one. You may be surprised and gravitate to something you wouldn't think about using at first glance.
He's a monster that's meant to be strong enough for his defeat to appear significant but not so strong that it seems improbable so he's an easy choice when the devs want to show off a new flagship.
Look at it this way, Rathalos may not win a lot in his 1v1s, but he clearly won in terms of his species' general success, Rathalos (and Rathians) are fricking everywhere and everyone knows about them, sure weird elder dragons can beat them but theyre all critically endangered.
>LS went from a solo-only weapon to only fun in multiplayer
I also notice I stop looking at my teammates when I use it compared to other weapons, weird
At what point should I replace the defender gear?
The armour is stupidly good, and the weapon seems to be better than anything I can make except from sharpness.
>huntang with friends >im the only one working on the tail >monsters down >GS Black person went and touched it ONCE with an uncharged draw slash >the tail went flying >"All in a day's work you know what im saying"
I have friends that constantly call out that they did something, like they're the sole reason it happened. >monster gets KO'd >"I stunned it." >monster falls over >"I knocked it down." >part breaks >"I broke its X"
I don't think it'd bother me as much if they weren't such shitters who only hunt in 4-player rooms, only attack when aggro shifts to another player, heal immediately after getting up after taking damage regardless if what the monster is doing, and crow about damage numbers when they only attack like 10 times a hunt. When I'm watching them hunt, it's always like a 20-minute hunt with 2 carts.
Well, I'm definitely a Longsword gay so it's not wrong. Although ironic it mentions its counters here since I absolutely despise them with a fiery passion.
>Main lance since I started >Now nearly every weapon has at least 1 counter
what's the point, why do they insist on giving every weapon everything? It's at its worst in Rise
condensed elemental slash and cpp on red for stunning and axe hopper for spamming on blue. i'm still on mr3, so i haven't unlocked the new switch skills
those are pretty good skills, have fun with CB
Is there anything about the weapon that you're curious or unsure about?

is spinning slash worth it? i'm guessing it does more damage if you're running an elemental cb but it's slow
Get firing pin if you use sword a lot, shit is fun as frick

i just think a saed would be more efficient if you get an opening but yeah, if the monster moves then its hard to keep up and stay in spinning mode unless you spam morphing advance
Spinning slash isn't somethnig that I've used too much but I'm pretty sure its better for impact phials. It's a skill that is best used with a decent understanding of the monster you're fighting to know when the next attack is comming, also you probably don't have the switch skill that makes it much better. You also have to remeber to keep the button held down to actually do damage.
for element, SAED is crazy good now, with the right weakness you could be hitting the monster for 2000+ per SAED
>but I'm pretty sure its better for impact phials
i didn't know that >switch skill that makes it much better
what skill would that be?

>what skill would that be?
Its called ready stance, it's an instant block that you can return to spinning axe mode with.
It's best feature is that you can do your best attack (the spinning attack that hits twice) back to back as long as you have wire bugs.
The other new skill air dash works well with spinning axe too I think

>2k damage
Hah, that's nothing kid, I can hit for over 80 damage with a gunlance shell that consumes all of my sharpness
Fair, i guess. While Horn isn’t my primary, if I see teammates are low on health and in peril, I’ll spend a life dust on the party. Powder them occasionally if the hunt looks tough.
What? Just because I treat my buddies nicely? I mean, it’s not totally wrong as I do try to provide some tactical suggestions when I’m playing with randos, but there was nothing in my quiz about working in a non-buddy team.
Are afflicted more fun than hypers (which were boring)? Some anon on here claimed that they were better than frenzied monsters which I find a high bar.
Popping cores on Afflicteds does a huge chunk of damage, you're directly rewarded for playing smart. The core system is basically a more engaging version of Wystones so yes I would consider them better than Frenzied monsters. I even liked Hypers as well but Afflicted monsters are extremely well thought out mechanics wise
Yeah and they still die in 5-8 minutes once you have afflicted weapons. Pro-tip: You don't need to hit the glowing spots to break them out of the afflicted state if you're doing enough damage overall.
>You don't need to hit the glowing spots to break them out of the afflicted state
God fricking dammit.
I wasted all kinds of time trying to pop one off a monster's backleg while they're hopping around on crack.
That makes things easier.
Weapon and sharpness dependent
If you have a moderate chunk of purple or white, RS lets you not interface with sharpness midfight at all
But if not, then PP or Masters Touch is pretty necessary
it was like my third time, the first two times I was fine and other people lost us the quest
this time I just got combo'd for all my health by big hitboxes I dunno how to avoid
in short I just suck
How do you guys do hunts so damn fast lol. My hunts take 20-30 min. Final boss took me 45 min.
Im not carting a lot, but hunts feel pretty long. Im using sword and shield, full rathalos armour and rathalos rarity 9 weapon too. I know im a shitter but keep in mind Rise is my first MH game.
Did you Defender your way through LR? or abuse multiplayer through HR?
People rush and never learn fundamentals, then get dabbed on when monsters actually have health and damage
Are you actually utilizing your weapon to its full potential? SnS isn't some powerhouse but those numbers are clearly abnormal
Off the top of my head SnS combos tend to backend their basic combo damage with roundslash so it's important to get to that
Use the training area to optimize shit
i havent played sword and shield at all but you have a ton of elemental vials so you should stun, paralyze, sleep, put down traps and otherwise lock down the monster so you get a lot of free hits in
>Incorporate roundlash (Y+B) in your Bnbs as an ender, it does a shit load of damage. >Use perfect rush when you can fit it in. Learn the timings of perfect rush when you need to roll out of it/silkbind out of it if a monster 'bout to push your shit in. >In some matchups, slotting in guard can turn your guard slash (R+B) into a great tool. Monsters' minor hits suddenly turn into more openings for perfect rush. >Shield bash is an amazing gap closer. With guard you can power through some attacks but the timing is something even I'm getting used to. >Hard bash is a great B move to maintain sharpness levels, but Drill Slash is probably better for damage. However, running perfect polish (Sailor skirt is great for this) will help you keep sharpness at the start of each fight so you can spam moves with little worry. >Metsu is a fantastic tool, but a lot of risk vs reward. Can get the counter on most opening monster roars. Use it for big hits that have long openings afterwards (Rath tail spike flip, Gore slam down space jam etc.) Metsu'ing during a small hit will just get your shit pushed in. Using metsu during Afflicted fights is much riskier because the monster won't be stunned as often and will generally power through any of your moves. >SnS is very item friendly, so if you want to lockdown a monster with traps you can. Also learning to use bombs to proc Metsu counter is a good way to get Metsu whenever you want. >Build a SnS for EVERY ELEMENT. Any weapon that hits frequently should be building all element usage.
How do people play long Gunlance in Sunbreak?
I've been playing wide so much I forgot how to play long.
Also I haven't gotten Bullet Barrage yet so don't say BB spam.
I really don't get long. It's normal or wide for me.
In base Rise, Long was for stake spam
I don't know how meta that still is, but honestly unless you love the old stake I would say stay away from it
Normal for fullburst spam and Wide for poke-shell (technically shell>shell>stake)
You can only do that when the gauge around your notes meter is filled up, since the spin attack gives a big temporary attack buff to yourself andd everyone else. It just fills up as you hit the monster.
You also can't do it if another hunting horn user's just used their's and the buff's still up, so that you can't waste it.
These guys have sandals roughly the same diameter as drinks coasters. Wyverian shoemaking must be some precision shit.
Fun fact: Wyverians(at least in Rise) wear normal human shoes, and pull them up so that their feet fit the part they need. Then just tie up the rest.
Pic related.
>I assume most players skip this tiny, but important, tidbit
I skipped most cutscenes and dialogue so I could get back to hunting, I'm not making the same mistake I did in World
I probably am. Now that I think about it more, I can hear Najarala screaming and see me spamming aerial attacks at it. I kinda miss it. Long snake-like monsters are so fun.
I fricking hate Gaismagorm. Another shitty "oh the final boss is a giant ugly monster that attacks by walking back and forth through the arena". Holy shit I am sick of these types of shitmons.
It's been too long for me to remember whether it was always this bad, but Rise has like four tricks it scatters liberally across almost every monster. This is the first MH where monsters felt extremely samey to me. >sweeping beam attack >three projectiles fired in a fan pattern, starting with the middle one >three charge/rushdown attacks in a row >monster runs into you, which somehow counts as an attack, inflicting huge damage
A couple mons also do this shit where instead of closing into melee distance, they'll park their ass right on top of you nonsensically. I swear I've seen the inside of Barioth clipping into the camera more than the rest of the model.
Gaismagorm is one of the best fights in the series, I legit don't know how you can not enjoy fighting this guy. I'm also one of those people who fricking loves fighting Akantor and Ukanlos to be fair
dual blades
insect glaive
bow
sns
lance (maybe)
switch axe (if death stench didn't outshine it)
idk if there are any others that are really good, GS/LS don't seem very strong
I've been swapping for elemental the Secta Tre weapons. Using Red for raw too since slots though no preference.
Swapped Critical Element decos for Wirebug ones since I was just going random. Damage isn't that different though with this.
I need to unlock yet scorned magna (Rank 98) so I cant say if that runs better. Wasted so much time farming items for making decorations and shit that my rank stayed low.
Whats the verdict on adamant charge slash
Feels busted to have q shoulder tackle with long range that leaves you on a stage 2 charged attack, also the iframes are generous as frick, not sure if they give you any other properties but i noticed you sometimes can ignore attacks while your charge the move
Counter will probably replace it once I get it tho
SUPY YOU FRICKING Black person STAY THE FRICK STILL. I JUST WANT TO TAKE PICTURE WITH YOU ON THE DOCK, STOP FRICKING wienerSUCKING OBORO AND CHICHAE, JUST STAND THE FRICK STILL, I'VE SEEN YOU DO IT BEFORE
>I hate Malzeno
Watching motherfrickers cart to him in the first and second encounter is hilarious. Gets less funny when they triple cart before the third
>have only played multiplayer >afraid of solo hunting >forced to do it because can't find Gaismagorm hunt >It's easy as shit because the monster is focused on me and not jumping all over the place
If you played Solo you didn't beat the game
Definitely faster to kill be because it focuses on the one player and has less health, but easier is a stretch when monsters have ADHD in multiplayer and will change their attention every attack. Get hit? You don't have to worry about it killing you because the monster changes target and is now across the room so you can safely heal. You do shit damage? Just get carried by other players. Really in a pickle? Don't worry, players are popping lifepowders.
Though, to be fair, "solo" hunting these days involves two pets that simulate pthe upsides of other players.
You run into that many GL players? Just boot them.

I hate counters so i swap them out on any weapon I can, but axe hopper is worth using if you can land it consistently, it provides instant access to SAED after a big motion value move
Yeah there is a bit of a learning curve to aiming it, try to be further away that it seems like you should. I should note I really found it worth using when I had the load up skill because it allows you to get full phials on yellow charge so I could land 2 sword hits, load phials, go straight into axe hopper, and repeat ad nauseum
Hit's like a truck, has high stun if you hit the head can be used to get out of dodge and looks cool. Downsides include slow wind up, air vulnerability and a really slow discharge swing. It's a good alternative to SAED if you don't have enough phials to make it work effectively
CB is the most technical weapon in MonHun. You can't be told how to get big numbers. You need to learn and practice it to find how YOU can get big numbers out of it.
>tfw still get filtered by All mother blender
I don't know why I'm so fricking bad at this, every time I think I'll be 100% safe oops nope turns out I'm a mega moron
Rajang is a bad fight and I'm tired of pretending he's not.
He's someone on the team's shitty OC that they force down your throat as much as possible
I am so sick of fighting him in every game and his variant is one of the least creative ones ever
Rajang has always felt like it belongs in a different game, but he's "le so difficult you guys", so Ganker will obviously fellate it like it's an actually well-designed fight.
I agree but hes also really fun to fight and one of the only difficult monster fights in the game. If he goes then what do we have? Lots of people cart to Teostra and Almudron so thats it?
Randoms cart to fricking every monster in the game constantly. I really think people really conflate years of playing this series so the flow of the games are ingrained into you with the game being "easy"
It has no skill pre-reqs and is one of the most simple weapons to learn, literally just use axe mode for mobility and sword mode for damage
smells bad
Switch Axe's biggest strengths comes from its morph combos, how they make you more mobile and the morph switch skill is one of the fastest ways to power up your amp gauge, which you want to have powered up as much as possible.
Your main damage output is zero sum discharge (the attack where you latch on and do the explosions) followed by Soaring Wyvern Blade since you can press both attack buttons to combo into it after a discharge.
Unless you wanna play Power Phial, then your main damage comes from spamming Elemental Burst Counter.
Elemental Burst Counter is worth using regardless to power up your amp gauge.
Also it absolutely has skill requirements because your strongest moves eat up your sharpness and for some reason no weapons have good sharpness in this game. I always run protective polish and speed sharpening.
Also evade extender is extremely good on SA since outside of your new counter your defensive tools are limited. For damage skills, Attack Boost 4 any level of Chain Crit and Weakness Exploit 3 like most other weapons. Critical Boost is optional since phial blasts don't crit but I like to use the slots for other stuff personally.
Ignore this reddit meta, switch axe is so versatile that you can do anything with it. Want to spam flying wyvern blade? Go for it you will still shit out damage.
I see. I could get that as well, but that would mean I went from 3/3 mind's eye to 2/3 mind's eye and from 1 power prolonger to 0. Maybe worth it still.
I love playing with randoms against one of the magalas. It's like they don't notice or care that every single one of them has the red debuff the entire fight.
Something I've noticed when I'm quite far away from the monsters is how my palamutes just stand there, doing nothing. Are they only attacking when you are? I'm not a MLG pro at the games who can keep attacking all the time, and I am at times far away from the monster. An yway to get my pets to keep attacking the monster?
I see. I just went double palamute because someone said it's better DPS, but maybe I should go back to one of each if I'm a shitter with a lot of down time?
Sometimes when I’m on a hunt and I go back to a camp to resupply, I get the option to “Eat a Meal” even though I’d eaten Dango previously and haven’t been carted. How does that work? Do pre hunt Dango effects fade over time? Do they stack with what you ate previously or do they overwrite them?
No to both question, it's just after a certain amount of time in quest you can eat again to get different bonuses if the ones you have aren't cutting it
maybe 3 narwa/2 ibushi running a narwa weapon, i think it's good for thunder switch axe/charge blade, might not even be great for that.
tl;dr it's very very niche
Looks gay. Needs a helmet. Seriously though? Only two armor sets? Guess it's because people don't usually do arena online or something. Still a shame though.
Well there's also the two feathers, unique Headwear and the second one is god tier-10 rarity, 4 slot, 3 wirebug whisperer >looks gay
That's because it's a *shudders* world design

>Why is almudron such a shit fight
Spends most of the fight jumping to the other side of the arena, spitting out screen obscuring shit and also uses literal shit to fight
His reworked fight really gives you the impression that he's just defending himself and whatever threat he may have posed to the surroundings was entirely by accident
poor guy
go to ice place
look out into ocean past the destroyed ship
observe a big fricking snail traveling across the horizon
get a picture, wave at it
it doesnt always spawn
jesus christ im moronic i was looking for an endemic life
go to ice place
look out into ocean past the destroyed ship
observe a big fricking snail traveling across the horizon
get a picture, wave at it
it doesnt always spawn
Companion hunts are unironically the better "hunting with others" experience. Their damage output is nothing to write home about, but they're competent, pretty much never cart, use support skills and items, and even run off to lure other monsters to the arena. They're the whole package, and preferable to every random I've ever met.
>Companion hunts are unironically the better "hunting with others" experience. Also, they don't increase the HP of the monster, unlike playing with other people. It just sucks that only some monsters have companion hunts, and you can't hunt anybody post game in them.
Multiplayer hunts have always been >shitters cart in the first 5 minutes of the hunt
Or >team stunlocks the monster to death and the hunt ends in 5 minutes
Sunbreak made me buy in on steam and I have some package that granted HR Black Belt armor and Defender weapons. I'm not new to the series but this shit is way too easy. Guess I have to discipline myself and walk back the good, granted stuff and just use what I can collect and craft? Or am I supposed to breeze through everything?
The black belt armor and defender weapons are intentionally overpowered gear to allow players to breeze through low rank and high rank if they just want to start the DLC content quickly. I'd highly recommend sticking to what you can collect and craft, especially since there's a lot of incidental stuff you'll need here and there to say nothing of the experience and practice you'll need once you're at endgame. Much like having a college-grade reading level in middle school, eventually you'll get to college and everyone has a college-grade reading level but they have more practice at knuckling through shit that doesn't come easy to them.
you said you didn't even had NSO and you weren't to clock alot of time, LS is the perfect weapon for people who just wanna see what's new while breezing all over the game soloing which btw seems like a detriment to the overall experience but hey, is your fun, that's why I recommended it, if you wante to give it a serious try I would tell you to try GS or Lance but LS is a good pick for timesink, Hammer doesn't really get the cool stuff until you're into MR4 so that's why I don't recommend it either.
Yeah it’s a RPG, part of the game is building your character. The only reason to want layered armor gone is as a punishment for people who engage with the RPG elements
>Hit monster with sword >Switch to ax if sword can't reach or if jumping off stuff >When phials glow yellow, red or red/white reload and repeat >When monster is down SAED
Everything else like using shield bash to reset the three hit sword combo and sliding to reposition/evade will come with practice
>how often should i be trying to charge up my sword?
So long as it isn't flashing red and white you're good, it's always a good idea to keep the bar red or at least yellow even if you have phials just in case you SAED and need to reload. Don't be afraid to get some distance if you need to reload too.
I usually do that when the monster is down and I don't have phials enough to SAED or Ax Hop or in really obvious openings. Invest in the counter move which can chain into it when the shield is charged or just get some distance and/or use it when the monster is fleeing. Invest in Power Prolonger and Quick Switch if you aren't comfortable using it in combat
use the double slash by holding down A (but not for too long) to quickly build up phails
store your phails by pressing A with the shield out
with stored phails go in to a AED (A + X twice while in sword mode is fastest)
build phails again in sword mode
then for a SAED build fire off SAEDs when you have a couple of seconds free and aim your phail discharges for the head to get stuns while using impact phials
learn your guard points for more aggressive play
but most importatly have fun
How do IG bros feel about this? The new powder shit is basically not even worth using compared to raw damage, but our kill times are way better than base Rise. On one hand I'm happy that IG is back, but on the other hand I'm sad that so much of our new stuff is shit (aka awakened kinsect attack pls buff capcom)
>bow is fun >noooooooooo it's not you're just a fricking homosexual, fun isn't subjective it's actually objective and because I don't like that weapon you're just a try hard meta gay
God fricking forbid I actually just happen to like some weapons despite them being meta or not, I guess since I fricking love meta I should like GS or LBG or HBG. Except I fricking don't, I just like bow, my other preferred weapon is hammer for fricks sake.
Only hammer, GL, and Lance are allowed on Ganker. If your weapon isn't bottom-tier, you're a metagay. I bet the overlap between this and the ER "if you upgraded your weapon you didn't beat the game"-crowd is pretty large.
anyone complaining about lance and GL blocking shit have no idea you have to either waste like 5 slots on guard 3 and guard up 3 or use an armor with those and pretty much no damage skills at all
im only playing base rise so i dont know if the kinsect homing attack has less stamina cost but with constitution 3 you can aerial dodge in between every helicopter attack so you have a lot more stamina to use
>Been playing LBG since FU and always enjoyed having a collection of match-up specific guns and gear sets >Gen 5 makes gunning over-tuned across the board and now everyone thinks I'm a metagayging speedrun LARPer
Well HBG has always been metashit, but you said LBG so you're off the hook for now I'm fricking watching you though, if Gen 6 makes LBG shit and you drop it I'll find you and call you a metahomosexual
I'm fine when it's a npc companion but that shit grinds my gears when it's another player >Dude spends most of the fight trying to wrangle monsters and make an already chaotic fight more chaotic >When the monster he wrangles doesn't frick off after >When he mounts the monster you're hunting then just fricking runs off to the other side of the map just to switch mounts instead of wall banging
The last one is pure abject cancer
>When he mounts the monster you're hunting then just fricking runs off to the other side of the map just to switch mounts instead of wall banging
This shit makes me furious
I spam the confused stickers when these morons do this, even worse is when they run the full length of the map just to ram into a wall with some spikey endemic life on it for an extra 200 damage, and they've ran so far that now now one gets to attack the downed nonster
FRICK OFFFF
>YOUR WEAPON IS BRAINDEAD >NOOO YOUR WEAPON IS BRAINDEAD >YOUR WEAPON KILLS THINGS TOO SLOWLY/QUICKLY >NOOO YOUR WEAPON KILLS THINGS TOO QUICKLY/SLOWLY
I think it's about time I put SB down for now. All of you should be ashamed, just hit things until they die and stop caring about what weapons people use.
If you sharpen, and restore at least 2 stages of sharpness (blue to purple for example) it gives a buff. Works with Ibushi weapons because they go from purple to blue (no white)
>no MR events
Is crit eye 2 better than crit boost 2 if I only have 50% affinity with wex?
Even a single point of crit boost is valuable regardless of whether you max out crit or not. It’s a 30% bonus to your damage whenever you land a crit, which will defacto be 50% of the time if you can consistently land hits on good hit zones.
Rather, it's shifts the bonus from 25% to 30%.
Damn, that’s my mistake then. Still, I’d say it’s better then an additional 10% to crit from crit eye 2.
>30% bonus
crit boost only adds 5%, regular crit damage is 25%
>Is crit eye 2 better than crit boost 2 if I only have 50% affinity with wex?
Damage w/o skills: (1*.5)+(1.25*.5)= 1.125
Damage w/ 1 level of Crit eye: (1*.45)+(1.25*.55)= 1.1375
Damage w/ 1 level of Crit boost: (1*.5)+(1.3*.5)= 1.15
Crit boost > Crit eye by about 10% damage
>Try out dual meta doggos
This shit is genuinely moronic.
the sleepy bois?
The amount of paralysis they can build up is insane
Umbrella or gun?
What "meta" dogs?
Replace Attack Up L with Support Centric.
Well shit
New player here.
Which weapon do i pick?
The one that looks the coolest. If that feels like shit, try out another. Keep doing that until you grab one with a moveset that you like.
try longsword, dual blades or greatsword, they're pretty easy to learn
Gunlance. Don't listen to the contrarian schizo who is eternally butthurt over bullet barrage.
>Saying this while playing contrarian the weapon
>new player
>translance
yes, get the new player to use the weapon that does no damage, consumes sharpness at a ridiculous level and is a literal meme
>no damage
Skill issue
>consumes sharpness at a ridiculous level
There's skills to combat sharpness loss, you know.
>and is a literal meme
The only meme here is how butthurt bullet barrage made you.
of fricking curse is going to be a fricking skill issue if he's just a beginner.
Gunlance is fun but alot of weapons do more for less commitment.
>gunlance
>blackfaceposting
>only gunlance main in sunbreak is black
gunlance is canonically a black weapon
Why do you have black people saved to your computer if you hate gunlance so much then?
>Funlance
longsword was my first, and i had loved the hate that i got online because of it. it makes veterans seethe. remember to use it close to your coop members so you can knock them the frick outta your way :*~~
>Which weapon do i pick?
Hammer, HH, S&S, Lance, and Light Bowgun are definitely the easiest.
>I want something simple and well-suited for beginners
Sword & Shield
Hammer
>I want something with BIG damage numbers, I'm fine with getting slapped around until I git gud
Greatsword
>I want something with speed so I can dodge more easily
Dual Blades
>I want something with great defense so I can block attacks
Lance
>I want something extremely easy because I'm a homosexual
Longsword
>No, I mean I'm a HUGE homosexual
Light Bowgun
>I want to smash monsters into other monsters 4-5 times per quest
Hunting Horn.
>I want to smash monsters
Same
>LS
>easier than Sword and shield and the braindead weapon that is lance
Seeing you gays seethe over the best weapon will never not be funny as frick.
Nice guide.
Be a Switch Axe chad
Try all of them in the training area and take them out on a real hunt at least once to find the perfect one. You may be surprised and gravitate to something you wouldn't think about using at first glance.

Its either HBG, Lance or GL.
my group triple carted to afflicted narga
it happened when it was almost dead
so sad
Does sharpnesss affect affinity?
I love Malzeno
He's a great dragon I love him.
Why does rathalos get destroyed in like every monster intro cutscene? It's not fair...
He deserves it for being an insufferable homosexual throughout the years.
Cause he's Flying Wyvern Worf
He's a monster that's meant to be strong enough for his defeat to appear significant but not so strong that it seems improbable so he's an easy choice when the devs want to show off a new flagship.
Look at it this way, Rathalos may not win a lot in his 1v1s, but he clearly won in terms of his species' general success, Rathalos (and Rathians) are fricking everywhere and everyone knows about them, sure weird elder dragons can beat them but theyre all critically endangered.
I've never seen malzeno grab anyone and I honestly don't even know what attack it is
>LS went from a solo-only weapon to only fun in multiplayer
I also notice I stop looking at my teammates when I use it compared to other weapons, weird
At what point should I replace the defender gear?
The armour is stupidly good, and the weapon seems to be better than anything I can make except from sharpness.
Postgame high rank or the instant you start Sunbreak and complete the first quest
It is really bad at end game high rank, try on one of the emergency apex events or or crimson calamity with black belt armor and tell me how it went
what's the best palamute gear and palico secret skills?

What a fricking Chad.
I have friends that constantly call out that they did something, like they're the sole reason it happened.
>monster gets KO'd
>"I stunned it."
>monster falls over
>"I knocked it down."
>part breaks
>"I broke its X"
I don't think it'd bother me as much if they weren't such shitters who only hunt in 4-player rooms, only attack when aggro shifts to another player, heal immediately after getting up after taking damage regardless if what the monster is doing, and crow about damage numbers when they only attack like 10 times a hunt. When I'm watching them hunt, it's always like a 20-minute hunt with 2 carts.
> play with friends
> either have to go wide range SnS baby sister mode or sit back and watch them do all work
It’s an odd feel

Well, I'm definitely a Longsword gay so it's not wrong. Although ironic it mentions its counters here since I absolutely despise them with a fiery passion.
LS would be so cool if it didn't have counters or helm splitter
>Main lance since I started
>Now nearly every weapon has at least 1 counter
what's the point, why do they insist on giving every weapon everything? It's at its worst in Rise
Lance still has the most intuitive counters and they are free
Sounds about right.
yea sounds about right
Accurate.
maybe i'll return to playing lance after i've mastered cb
I'm the opposite, I usually play CB but have built a lance. It's very fun, insta-block is rad.
which switch skills are you using on CB?
condensed elemental slash and cpp on red for stunning and axe hopper for spamming on blue. i'm still on mr3, so i haven't unlocked the new switch skills
those are pretty good skills, have fun with CB
Is there anything about the weapon that you're curious or unsure about?
is spinning slash worth it? i'm guessing it does more damage if you're running an elemental cb but it's slow
yeah i use it. seeing the spark tick 5 times into a stun when i go for an aed is satisfying
>is spinning slash worth it?
I've seen other CBers use it but I never liked it but then again I mostly use sword mode
i just think a saed would be more efficient if you get an opening but yeah, if the monster moves then its hard to keep up and stay in spinning mode unless you spam morphing advance
>but I'm pretty sure its better for impact phials
i didn't know that
>switch skill that makes it much better
what skill would that be?
>what skill would that be?
Its called ready stance, it's an instant block that you can return to spinning axe mode with.
It's best feature is that you can do your best attack (the spinning attack that hits twice) back to back as long as you have wire bugs.
The other new skill air dash works well with spinning axe too I think
i'll give it a try when i unlock that then, its challenging but learning cb is fun
Yeah its a really fun weapon, if you're mostly SAEDing for now make sure to how to use guard points but if you're coming from lance you probably wont have much of a problem getting used to them
and aim for the head lmao
Spinning slash isn't somethnig that I've used too much but I'm pretty sure its better for impact phials. It's a skill that is best used with a decent understanding of the monster you're fighting to know when the next attack is comming, also you probably don't have the switch skill that makes it much better. You also have to remeber to keep the button held down to actually do damage.
for element, SAED is crazy good now, with the right weakness you could be hitting the monster for 2000+ per SAED
>2k damage
Hah, that's nothing kid, I can hit for over 80 damage with a gunlance shell that consumes all of my sharpness
Rent free
Get firing pin if you use sword a lot, shit is fun as frick
Fair, i guess. While Horn isn’t my primary, if I see teammates are low on health and in peril, I’ll spend a life dust on the party. Powder them occasionally if the hunt looks tough.
This quiz is bullshit I've taken it three times and have yet to get SnS. It's the only weapon I'm good at frick you.
What? Just because I treat my buddies nicely? I mean, it’s not totally wrong as I do try to provide some tactical suggestions when I’m playing with randos, but there was nothing in my quiz about working in a non-buddy team.
even in the quest results the Meta set
Also accurate.
I miss the time when stuns used to last 2-3 seconds.
Just waste three slots on the stun res skill bro.
anyone want to do some hunts? (PC)
I'll set up a lobby if there's any interest
wait, Utushi can wear the mask? I've never seen him in it.
Just fought Furious, and I really enjoyed it
I was a tad undergeared, but it was a super engaging fight as SA, much better than base Rajang
>can only store 300 album photos
Reeee
>the sheer amount of HP for afflicted monsters
Jesus Christ
only an issue if you're soloing them, you are not soloing them right?
You all complained about 5 minute fights in rise, now you get 10 minute fights. What is the problem?
Doesn't feel any different from hyper bloat tbqh
You still should try to break easy to reach ones for the free damage though.
anyone complaining about afflicted hp is actually complaining that they suck ass and cant hit weak spots
Does Furious Rajang have more HP than other monsters? It took me longer to kill him than most of the monsters I've fought up to him.
is protective polish or razor sharp better?
depends on the weapon, but then again I would say both.
Depends on the weapon/sharpness. Polish is better if you have very small purple. Razor Sharp/Master's Touch is good for preserving a longer bar.
Weapon and sharpness dependent
If you have a moderate chunk of purple or white, RS lets you not interface with sharpness midfight at all
But if not, then PP or Masters Touch is pretty necessary
Grinder (S)!
I saw it but how does it work and what does it do exactly?
lets you frick other men
>just triple carted to gaismagorm
k, that's enough monster hunter for one day
the first time you face it, he throws alot of unexpected AOEs so is not shameful to cart to it.
it was like my third time, the first two times I was fine and other people lost us the quest
this time I just got combo'd for all my health by big hitboxes I dunno how to avoid
in short I just suck
Dude, just side hop away
How do you guys do hunts so damn fast lol. My hunts take 20-30 min. Final boss took me 45 min.
Im not carting a lot, but hunts feel pretty long. Im using sword and shield, full rathalos armour and rathalos rarity 9 weapon too. I know im a shitter but keep in mind Rise is my first MH game.
Did you Defender your way through LR? or abuse multiplayer through HR?
People rush and never learn fundamentals, then get dabbed on when monsters actually have health and damage
I have defeated all monsters solo, but I do play some multiplayer.
Did not use defender gear, played base rise last year.
Are you actually utilizing your weapon to its full potential? SnS isn't some powerhouse but those numbers are clearly abnormal
Off the top of my head SnS combos tend to backend their basic combo damage with roundslash so it's important to get to that
Use the training area to optimize shit
i havent played sword and shield at all but you have a ton of elemental vials so you should stun, paralyze, sleep, put down traps and otherwise lock down the monster so you get a lot of free hits in
literally just hit the monster's head/weak points
you are taking that long because you are hitting shitzones and seeing tiny little grey numbers
But I dunno, I just started using SnS.
I want Malzeno's tongue in my stomach
How do people play long Gunlance in Sunbreak?
I've been playing wide so much I forgot how to play long.
Also I haven't gotten Bullet Barrage yet so don't say BB spam.
I'm like the oppossite, I play almost exclusively Normal and I don't know how can people play wide.
Spam shell, shell, EC and guard reload.
I really don't get long. It's normal or wide for me.
In base Rise, Long was for stake spam
I don't know how meta that still is, but honestly unless you love the old stake I would say stay away from it
Normal for fullburst spam and Wide for poke-shell (technically shell>shell>stake)
>gunlance in sunbreak
Long gunlance is used like Normal but encourages to also use Wyvernfire and the Wyrmstake by itself. Kind of a weird shelling class but yeah.
I remember exclusively using charged shells in world for long GL but I have no clue how to use it in rise.
I just play wide and normal.
With the hunting horn why is that sometimes i can't do the spinning top after the RT + Triangle?
You can only do that when the gauge around your notes meter is filled up, since the spin attack gives a big temporary attack buff to yourself andd everyone else. It just fills up as you hit the monster.
You also can't do it if another hunting horn user's just used their's and the buff's still up, so that you can't waste it.
Bros ever since I got to Gaismagorm he's all I ever want to hunt.
I don't know why I like this fight so much.
It's a pretty cool fight.
>tfw you get a wall kill
I just beat MR Ibushi for the first time. Does Storm Soul affect skills added using decorations, or just the ones on the base armor set?
base set only, decos or charms not affected at all
>base set only, decos or charms not affected at all
That sucks.
>people keep making fun of my favorite weapon
That's it from now on I'm playing Long Sword.
What are THOOOOOOOOOOOOOSE?
sex
These guys have sandals roughly the same diameter as drinks coasters. Wyverian shoemaking must be some precision shit.
Fun fact: Wyverians(at least in Rise) wear normal human shoes, and pull them up so that their feet fit the part they need. Then just tie up the rest.
Pic related.
Reminder that these two raise you as a kid. Why do you have lustful thought on your adoptive mothers?
I don't they're both incredibly annoying
Unironic groomers and that's based
They were clearly designed to be your "sisters."
incest strengthens family bonds
They arent mothers, not until im done with them that it.
I wonder how many players realizes they raise your hunter? I assume most players skip this tiny, but important, tidbit.
Anyone who cared enough about your hunter's backstory to look for that information would know that Hojo raised you not the twins
No Monoto raised me. And she spanked me when I was a bad child.
Sometimes, I forget that Wyverians are ridiculously long-lived. Makes me wonder how human-wyverian procreation even works.
NO THEY DIDN'T. I'M NOT FROM KAMURA. I DON'T KNOW WHO ANY OF THESE PEOPLE ARE. I'M JUST HERE TO HUNT MONSTERS BEFORE RETURNING HOME TO VAL HABAR.
>I assume most players skip this tiny, but important, tidbit
I skipped most cutscenes and dialogue so I could get back to hunting, I'm not making the same mistake I did in World
Can I please go back to calling everyone by their titles? Hinoa keeps telling everyone about my childhood
>adoptive mothers?
Closer to big sisters really
weird bird
Fortune owls are the funniest thing and never fail to make me laugh when I see them
Wtf I uploaded a fortune owl pic, how did it turn into that
When two people upload a picture at the exact same time that happens.
Oh so that's it. That's never happened to me before.
>I want Nargacuga
>We have Nargacuga at home
whats the best elemental IGs?
was seregios this much of an unfun fricking homosexual shitmon in 4?
No, he had glass ankles so he died to anything you died
Also, bad taste: just dodge left.
he flew alot less
What is bad about him here?
he was a peak jobber
He used to do a bullshit soundwave attack with his scales and liked targeting IG users (i.e. me) over everyone else.
I'm pretty sure you're thinking of Najarala
I probably am. Now that I think about it more, I can hear Najarala screaming and see me spamming aerial attacks at it. I kinda miss it. Long snake-like monsters are so fun.
First follower mission scared the shit out of me.
>anon posts his 7 min afflicted monkeystein
>”oh yeah I bet I can do that”
>I can’t even beat 11
Frick this game why can’t I be good
Where's the 3rd cohoot???
it's the baby in the nest that you can feed
taking a picture of the same one 3 times at different angles still counts for that quest.
buying a Malzeno gf
I fricking hate Gaismagorm. Another shitty "oh the final boss is a giant ugly monster that attacks by walking back and forth through the arena". Holy shit I am sick of these types of shitmons.
he literally only has one charge and it’s incredibly telegraphed
It's been too long for me to remember whether it was always this bad, but Rise has like four tricks it scatters liberally across almost every monster. This is the first MH where monsters felt extremely samey to me.
>sweeping beam attack
>three projectiles fired in a fan pattern, starting with the middle one
>three charge/rushdown attacks in a row
>monster runs into you, which somehow counts as an attack, inflicting huge damage
A couple mons also do this shit where instead of closing into melee distance, they'll park their ass right on top of you nonsensically. I swear I've seen the inside of Barioth clipping into the camera more than the rest of the model.
It was always like this, but rise added attacks to check that you have wirebugs which is why big sweeping lasers are so common
A ton of monsters with non beam projectiles have some sort of triple fireball attack it's almost as ubiquitous as 180 degree tail swipes.
Gaismagorm is one of the best fights in the series, I legit don't know how you can not enjoy fighting this guy. I'm also one of those people who fricking loves fighting Akantor and Ukanlos to be fair
hammer bros, we feast
I've finished my S&S build so might go for Hammer next or Greatsword. I want big unga weapon
which SnS did you go for anon? i've been getting used to the weapon and it's a ton of fun, running scorned magna but might try valstrax
Which valstrax weapons are good and what can I run with the HR set?
dual blades
insect glaive
bow
sns
lance (maybe)
switch axe (if death stench didn't outshine it)
idk if there are any others that are really good, GS/LS don't seem very strong
I've been swapping for elemental the Secta Tre weapons. Using Red for raw too since slots though no preference.
Swapped Critical Element decos for Wirebug ones since I was just going random. Damage isn't that different though with this.
I need to unlock yet scorned magna (Rank 98) so I cant say if that runs better. Wasted so much time farming items for making decorations and shit that my rank stayed low.
Based, I'm running this atm, cookie cutter but werks
That looks very good. Whats your deco? I wanted to try a Crit 7/Attack 7
Got a crit eye 3 and 3 slot deco, I'm on switch so had to roll the gacha, not perfect but does the job, I'll post set with charm
Cool build. I am going to try it
is crit element any good?
best way to get rank up? Any pc rooms?
Just help random homosexuals and your rank'll go up in no time.
It was incredibly strong in base rise and yet was powercrept so easily
Is HH a meme in this game, or does it compare to the glory and power of Iceborne HH? Cause that was some good shit.
The answer is still no. And we know.
HH is a certified meme, it no longer resembles previous games
> tfw friend rushed to end game to craft meta sets
> upset about of all the shit tier armors he won’t ever craft
WTFF
SUPY YOU FRICKING Black person STAY THE FRICK STILL. I JUST WANT TO TAKE PICTURE WITH YOU ON THE DOCK, STOP FRICKING wienerSUCKING OBORO AND CHICHAE, JUST STAND THE FRICK STILL, I'VE SEEN YOU DO IT BEFORE
>I hate Malzeno
Watching motherfrickers cart to him in the first and second encounter is hilarious. Gets less funny when they triple cart before the third
I want to like SA, but they all look like awful surfboards. They're such ugly weapons. How do you cope, SA bros?
Bad taste alert
By picking one to five of the thirty good looking SAs?
>have only played multiplayer
>afraid of solo hunting
>forced to do it because can't find Gaismagorm hunt
>It's easy as shit because the monster is focused on me and not jumping all over the place
If you played Solo you didn't beat the game
>solo hunting is easier
>if you didn't play on easy mode you didn't beat the game
ok anon
Definitely faster to kill be because it focuses on the one player and has less health, but easier is a stretch when monsters have ADHD in multiplayer and will change their attention every attack. Get hit? You don't have to worry about it killing you because the monster changes target and is now across the room so you can safely heal. You do shit damage? Just get carried by other players. Really in a pickle? Don't worry, players are popping lifepowders.
Though, to be fair, "solo" hunting these days involves two pets that simulate pthe upsides of other players.
Solo hunting is easier because I don't have to worry about some idiot coming in to a MR 5 quest with HR gear and carting twice and other idiocy
You run into that many GL players? Just boot them.
rent free
>GL players
No they were LS users
>things that didn't happen
Well the two carts by the same dude in HR Valtrax gear within 5 minutes to MR Teo sure as frick did
LS weebs still seething over being the original trippers (and still the most common trippers)
>tripping
Imagine being in melee with the other losers, scrabbling for the three seconds in which they're allowed to deal some damage
>he's a rangecuck
opinion discarded
Seethe if you must, bro. I'll be over here with my bow, enjoying the best of both worlds - having to engage with the monster, dodging and weaving to evade attacks and target the juiciest weak spots, while also being allowed to actually fight the monster for 90-95% of the hunt.
nobody is impressed by you bandwagoning the tier 1 weapon
I'm pretty impressed by how much fun I'm having
>having fun
>with the most boring and least interesting weapon only used for being effective
yeah you keep telling yourself that kek
>highly intense and precise dodge dance to stay within critical/close range coating distance
>careful stamina management to maintain peak efficiency
>still at high risk due to gunner defenses but close range
>skill is richly rewarded by pretty much never seeing shitty grey numbers
>boring
Enjoy your Lance gameplay, I guess
>cope cope and more cope
bowkeks are truly pathetic, at least own up to using a boring weapon because it's the best.
It sure is the best weapon, just not for the reasons you cite.
Now that's slander, I usually press at least five.
That's a lot of words to hide the fact that you press one button all hunt
>calling bow brainless
probably a lance/gunlance user that thinks their easy as frick weapon with one button negate all damage and attacks which you can't get knocked out of is somehow high IQ
Anyone who still uses Lance and GL uses it because they find it fun, due to being the worst weapons in the game
The same cannot be said about metagays who use bow.
And ranged weapons have always been the easy mode for Monster Hunter
>they find it fun, due to being the worst weapons in the game
Between being a post-ironic contrarian and a metagay, I'd say the former is the bigger gay. At least metagays are honest.
>at least metagays are honest
Literally a bowkek in the thread pretending he's not metagayging, opinion discarded
>people can only play a weapon for one reason
So you agree that Lance/Gunlance users are contrarian homosexuals who try too hard to fit in on Ganker?
Gunlance has the appeal of being a big stick that fires giant explosives
There is nothing innately cool about a bow in a game with tons of much more interesting weapons.
>Noooo you don't like the weapon you're just a contrarian!!!
have a nice day
>at least metagays are honest.
doesn't look like it going by the "muh intense bow dance" guy
>bunch of moronic shit about L/GL
Shitter detected.
>was called out perfectly
Uhh shitter am I right! Pressing guard is omegabrain bow users wouldn't get it
If it's so easy, how about you show us how good (you) are with a lance then.
Any weapon that utilizes Evade Extender 3 is incredibly big brain
Idk what that means in this context
Bow uses dodgebolt and evade extender 1 (if you're good) and charging step with 0 evade extender (if you're not)
Charging sidestep with evade extender 3 is the ultimate comfort zone. Mobility is fun.
It just makes it harder to deal damage, you don't have much range to work with on bow and need to spam dodge, ee 3 puts you out of range or in a bad spot for focusing weak zones
lmao muh perfect range cope, Imagine having such an esy ass meta slave weapon you just overcomplicate fricking dodging, bow still shits damage regardless I use it when I just want to farm a monster fast without thinking
Post your easy farm bow set
been taking my time with rise and I'm still on HR, postan one world bow set of several, I like this one because shotgun is fun
bow is still piss easy
weapon usgae btw, bow is the easiest one of all of them
let me see your weapon stats bowgay
Shut the frick up ranged sissy
>sometimes i have to roll when the monster looks at me, its really hard managing my stamina for this feat
Was that second part about other weapons or bow? Because you know bow doesn't use roll and every single attack uses stamina?
>It was a bowgay that's been whining about GL in all the threads
Ah it all makes sense
Idk what you're talking about other than you think bow is somehow the easiest weapon in the game. Because it gets fast speedruns or something? Actually try it instead of whinging like a gay.
>attacks all drain stamina
>dodgebolt has a much shorter iframe window than all the blademaster counters
>you need to be within close to melee range of the boss to hit weakspots with close range coating
>you have basically no wirebugs to dodge with if you get hit because herculean draw
>you take significantly more damage from attacks while being it just as much risk as melee
So where's the easy mode here? Because it actually does damage?
Goddamn one off hand comment is all it takes for you gays to sperg out you make World LS users look well adjusted
>I have nothing to say in return because I actually don't know a thing about the weapon
Sounds about right
Bowgays can't handle banter makes sense they are ranged pussys
>gets called
>"I was merely pretending to be moronic, you correcting my moronation makes you a sperg, lmao!"
Like arguing with a child. Typical Lance main.
>implying you don't have stamina skills, Go Fight Win, and hundreds of dash juice
>implying you even need to counter with a dodge
>implying Close Range Coating is actually melee ranger and not just closer-ranged
>implying you don't have full control over what wirebugs you use
>implying you should be getting 1 tapped by anything but moron proof moves
Try again.
>dodgebolt with 1EE doesn't move you far enough to dodge
>you still run out of stamina constantly with all the buffs you could imagine
>close range coating spread bow has barely more range than melee
So what do blademaster weapons need to do that's 'harder'
actually having to engage the monster for once
>solo hunt with bow
>monster doesn't even see me because I don't engage with it
>kill it without it even attacking me
Life is good bowchads
>actually has to specify it has to be solo because even he knows ranged is cheating on multiplayer
yeah, sounds about right
How the frick do i do to make big damage on CB?
Charge phiels and then spam SAED?
Load up + axe hopper is constant SAED spam
Is axe hopper actually worth using? Worth swapping out the counter move with it if I'm already using air dash one of my scrolls?
I hate counters so i swap them out on any weapon I can, but axe hopper is worth using if you can land it consistently, it provides instant access to SAED after a big motion value move
Fair enough. I'll give it a go, I haven't used it once but it seemed pretty neat from a few webms. Is it all difficult to aim it when using it?
Just put a barrel bomb and force knockdown yourself and iframe through the blender.
Rajang is a bad fight and I'm tired of pretending he's not.
He's someone on the team's shitty OC that they force down your throat as much as possible
I am so sick of fighting him in every game and his variant is one of the least creative ones ever
I think he's fun, plus he's a funny monkey.
>MUH FUNNY MONKEY XD
literally R eddit's Monster.
Accept funny monke
Rajang's intro in world is maximum kino, Second only to Apex raj appearing in that seltas Quest in 4U
>his variant is one of the least creative ones ever
Imagine sleepy rajang.
My only gripe with rajang is that hehas like 2 moves sns can counter and actually land a hit
The rest of the fight is chasing after him
How the hell do you build and play Switch Axe? I find the weapon interesting but I have no idea where to even start with it.
It has no skill pre-reqs and is one of the most simple weapons to learn, literally just use axe mode for mobility and sword mode for damage
this poster
I literally said to do that moron.
I forgot I also build 7 now, you can build both AB 7 and WE 3 iat endgame and it's really good
I see. I could get that as well, but that would mean I went from 3/3 mind's eye to 2/3 mind's eye and from 1 power prolonger to 0. Maybe worth it still.
>Mind's Eye
>Switch Axe
No idea, I just found a guide back in Vanilla which suggested it and I've stuck with it since. I'm bad at builds.
SA doesn't need minds eye because sword mode inherently has it
SA never needs Mind's Eye because sword form has it built in and you attack mostly with sword.
Why not attack boost 7? SA user here with it, but 0 in weakness exploit. Is it more damage output from changing from AB7 to WE3?
I love playing with randoms against one of the magalas. It's like they don't notice or care that every single one of them has the red debuff the entire fight.
Any cool lance builds?
Im running a poison build with espinas armour right now.
Palamute's attack frequency is directly based on how aggressive you're being
I see. I just went double palamute because someone said it's better DPS, but maybe I should go back to one of each if I'm a shitter with a lot of down time?
Theres also a menu where you can set their attack behavior
Sometimes when I’m on a hunt and I go back to a camp to resupply, I get the option to “Eat a Meal” even though I’d eaten Dango previously and haven’t been carted. How does that work? Do pre hunt Dango effects fade over time? Do they stack with what you ate previously or do they overwrite them?
No to both question, it's just after a certain amount of time in quest you can eat again to get different bonuses if the ones you have aren't cutting it
Your next Hunt is......
Goss Harag with a Sword And Shield
>Goss Harag with a Sword And Shield
Kill me now
He's another one where the metsu counter sucks
Unironically use windmill and d.oil+shield charge every 2 seconds
So are the Narwa/Ibushi sets good now?
maybe 3 narwa/2 ibushi running a narwa weapon, i think it's good for thunder switch axe/charge blade, might not even be great for that.
tl;dr it's very very niche
MR arena is hard as frick
I can't get an S with my best weapon against lunagaron (one of my better monsters)
Are there any arena exclusive armor sets?
Yeah there's 2
Basically an upgraded fancier version of guild bard and then another one I haven't unlocked yet
It's still a travesty what they did to the black belt set, I think.
Eh at least it looks like black belt armor again, it looked like complete dogshit in world (like 90% of the armor and weapon designs in fairness)
1/2
2/2
Looks cool.
Looks gay. Needs a helmet. Seriously though? Only two armor sets? Guess it's because people don't usually do arena online or something. Still a shame though.
Well there's also the two feathers, unique Headwear and the second one is god tier-10 rarity, 4 slot, 3 wirebug whisperer
>looks gay
That's because it's a *shudders* world design
Technically so is the good one, although that's basically just bard 2.0
>Technically so is the good one, although that's basically just bard 2.0
Guess I should be happy layered armor is a thing nowadays.
I hate layered armor so much bros, mmo mentality really messed up monster hubter
It's preferable to the clownsuit you'd be wearing otherwise, and I can't wait for layered weapons for full fashion.
Clownsuits were part of the fun, I liked seeing the amalgamation of parts that everyone's hunter became based on charms and negative skills
Let’s not kid ourselves the vast majority of people were running vaik mail/rathalos bracers/spio elytra/rajang pants during base rise
I don't look up meta sets so I wouldn't know
You never went into narwa and saw people spawning with several different colors of rajang pants?
Not having to sacrifice utility for being fashionable is a good thing. I can satisfy both my urges for making absurd builds and making my hunter look like a zinogre bawd at the same time.
Female hunters are and have always been incredibly cringe
Don't care. I just want to frick girls in zinogre armor.
i wish that they didnt make it so that you need to unlock layered armor and instead could just use regular stuff because i wanted to use the wroggi cowbow set but at hr56 and i havent unlocked that layered armor (i dont know how you unlock them either)
im playing heavy bowgun so the cowboy set would be perfect but i cant use it
Technically you can just use the Heavy Knight helmet with it and it’ll be decent
Imagine licking those lizard feets
What’s the most based and soulful weapon in the game and why is it hammer?
Sorry that's longsword
Finally, that donut steel finally drop the item I wanted.
>30 minutes on Gaismagorm solo
I think I killed him faster with Fiorayne helping, honestly
Fricking MR Allmother took me 17
>superb design
>God tier theme
>good story relevance
>challenging but fair fight
>unique status and moveset
>great weapons, great armor, great palico armor, great palamute armor
Not only is malzeno based, he's the best flagship since 4u and one of the better monsters in general
how good is blood rite?
Good if you can break parts fast, or if you're aiming to break parts to get more materials.
it's comfy
No damage worthless skill
I do not understand the sns double slash skill at all. How does it work and why should I consider it over the sword shield combo
It does more damage, especially with element. It can also change attack direction and be used as the third hit of an A combo.
Have there been any interviews where they talk about nu-horn and their reasoning behind it? I don't want to believe old horn is dead and gone but it scares me that there is a non 0% chance.
I literally don't understand how it works. Only the trio gives me song effects. Playing double notes does nothing. It's so fricked and not fun to play but it's easily top tier damage. Total braindead weapon.
>I literally don't understand how it works. Only the trio gives me song effects. Playing double notes does nothing. It's so fricked and not fun to play but it's easily top tier damage. Total braindead weapon.
You might be using Echo mode instead of performance. Check your switch skills.
Do you stick to Elgado or have you gone back to Kamura?
Stayed in Elgado, Kamura is just too spread out and I've already spent 150 hrs there
Elgado. Frick needing to go to some prep area to do shit
Kamura can go frick itself
Elgado, frick Kamura.
I still go back to the buddy area, it is still very comfy
There's no buddy area in Elgado?
No but you can access all of the buddy area functions from 1 npc
No, all the buddy stuff is handled by the cat
And the cohoots nest is on top of the castle gate
Why is almudron such a shit fight, holy shit.
>Why is almudron such a shit fight
Spends most of the fight jumping to the other side of the arena, spitting out screen obscuring shit and also uses literal shit to fight
It's actually a combination of mucus and mud :^)
>mucus
Almudron needs more fiber
Oh no
That's a good match up though especially with over head slash when she's un webbed
is chain crit worth it on swaxe?
Very
does that mean I have to wear astalos shit
No, last boss waist and chest
>this thing is consider Elder Dragon tier
And well deserved, he's a pretty fun fight
If he wandered into a mountain village looking for bugs to eat, everyone would die purely by him existing
So, yes.
>you WILL eat ze bugs
>your braps WILL kill ze villagers
>and you WILL be happy
His reworked fight really gives you the impression that he's just defending himself and whatever threat he may have posed to the surroundings was entirely by accident
poor guy
He has perfect optical camo and is HIGHLY toxic that's a bad combo
Ok, I'm at the part of the game where I'm farming for mantles and shit
What's my mom's first meta set? Please tell me I don't need Gaisma mantles
Stop chasing the meta you sheep
Bro, I fullsuited all the way to A4, sod off
what the frick is a monksnail
The giant thing in distance of the frost islands
jesus christ im moronic i was looking for an endemic life
go to ice place
look out into ocean past the destroyed ship
observe a big fricking snail traveling across the horizon
get a picture, wave at it
it doesnt always spawn
People are really shit online. I like teaming up on monsters I've killed alone, but honestly it's all so tiresome...
They're the whole package, and preferable to every random I've ever met.
Also, they don't increase the HP of the monster, unlike playing with other people. It just sucks that only some monsters have companion hunts, and you can't hunt anybody post game in them.
Multiplayer hunts have always been
>shitters cart in the first 5 minutes of the hunt
Or
>team stunlocks the monster to death and the hunt ends in 5 minutes
Sunbreak made me buy in on steam and I have some package that granted HR Black Belt armor and Defender weapons. I'm not new to the series but this shit is way too easy. Guess I have to discipline myself and walk back the good, granted stuff and just use what I can collect and craft? Or am I supposed to breeze through everything?
Black belt and defender weapons make the hunts go almost twice as fast
The black belt armor and defender weapons are intentionally overpowered gear to allow players to breeze through low rank and high rank if they just want to start the DLC content quickly. I'd highly recommend sticking to what you can collect and craft, especially since there's a lot of incidental stuff you'll need here and there to say nothing of the experience and practice you'll need once you're at endgame. Much like having a college-grade reading level in middle school, eventually you'll get to college and everyone has a college-grade reading level but they have more practice at knuckling through shit that doesn't come easy to them.
I feel real bad for the shmucks who fell for that, they're gonna start SB with almost no decos or amulets
how do you make sets for elemental cb? i'm assuming you still want load shells but what about guard 3/gup and rapid morph?
Why is there no status boost skill?
Any advice for a newbie? Also I don't have NSO i don't think I will gave for a long time.
Learn LS
I uswd only LS (and the shooting weapons) in MHGU, with the movility improvements in Rise I wanna try something else.
you said you didn't even had NSO and you weren't to clock alot of time, LS is the perfect weapon for people who just wanna see what's new while breezing all over the game soloing which btw seems like a detriment to the overall experience but hey, is your fun, that's why I recommended it, if you wante to give it a serious try I would tell you to try GS or Lance but LS is a good pick for timesink, Hammer doesn't really get the cool stuff until you're into MR4 so that's why I don't recommend it either.
Don't get hit, hit it until it dies
Ibushit set plus Narwa Rampage israeliteel is all you need. Take one piece of and swap for something else for some variety.
Why are people online dying so much to the final boss? He's so much easier than All-mother Narwa
Because people rush to endgame with their discord boyfriends and never actually learn how to play
An armors aesthetic should be a part of the set building decision making instead of completely removed from it
Lol frick off
>uh yeah I might suck but at least I don’t look moronic xD
Weak minded individual right here
the fact you equated having a worse armor set with sucking tells everyone everything they need to know about you
Yeah it’s a RPG, part of the game is building your character. The only reason to want layered armor gone is as a punishment for people who engage with the RPG elements
if yall don't rock the barbania chest don't TALK to me
I like the goofy looking weapons, like the egg hammer.
How do you tell a cheater?
If they complain about dps
>play on easy mode
>deny that you're playing on easy mode and pretend you're having fun
Rangeshitters deserve no respect
What are the most weeb armors?
bump
i still don't get how to play charge blade
>Hit monster with sword
>Switch to ax if sword can't reach or if jumping off stuff
>When phials glow yellow, red or red/white reload and repeat
>When monster is down SAED
Everything else like using shield bash to reset the three hit sword combo and sliding to reposition/evade will come with practice
how often should i be trying to charge up my sword? it feels like it's pretty high risk because of how long it takes
>how often should i be trying to charge up my sword?
So long as it isn't flashing red and white you're good, it's always a good idea to keep the bar red or at least yellow even if you have phials just in case you SAED and need to reload. Don't be afraid to get some distance if you need to reload too.
i mean the actual sword part where you can charge your sword by doing CED when your shield is amped
Can you do urgent quests by searching for them online? I mean, will you complete it story-wise? I fricking hate doing Ibushi alone.
If you start one with an SOS it counts. I also think joining an SOS also counts, as long as it’s relatively early.
pc room doko
This. If anyone wants help doing dango quests or some shit on PC I'm totally down for it.

Easiest most braindead weapon in Sunbreak?
lbg as always
Nobody gave a shit about LBG pre-World, you newbies.
combo GS
LBG like in every monhun
In order
Bowguns
Lance
Gunlance
Longsword
How do IG bros feel about this? The new powder shit is basically not even worth using compared to raw damage, but our kill times are way better than base Rise. On one hand I'm happy that IG is back, but on the other hand I'm sad that so much of our new stuff is shit (aka awakened kinsect attack pls buff capcom)
>bow is fun
>noooooooooo it's not you're just a fricking homosexual, fun isn't subjective it's actually objective and because I don't like that weapon you're just a try hard meta gay
I bet the overlap between this and the ER "if you upgraded your weapon you didn't beat the game"-crowd is pretty large.
gunners still live rent-free in blademaster's heads
anyone complaining about lance and GL blocking shit have no idea you have to either waste like 5 slots on guard 3 and guard up 3 or use an armor with those and pretty much no damage skills at all
Female armor is so fricking bad lmao good thing we got that free chaarcter voucher
Range will always be peak easymode, including Bow, HBG, and LBG
no that would be guard weapons
trying too hard bowgay
I ZSD spammed all my way up to MR100. Almost died a few times for it, makes it more exciting.
>ZSD spam with bloodrite
it feels like capcom spoiled us SA chads
Does constitution help out for aerial glaive?
im only playing base rise so i dont know if the kinsect homing attack has less stamina cost but with constitution 3 you can aerial dodge in between every helicopter attack so you have a lot more stamina to use
Okay thanks I'll do some trials. I'm kinda mad that aerial is optimal for long openings now
>4 person lobbies
I hate it so much bros
>Been playing LBG since FU and always enjoyed having a collection of match-up specific guns and gear sets
>Gen 5 makes gunning over-tuned across the board and now everyone thinks I'm a metagayging speedrun LARPer
Well HBG has always been metashit, but you said LBG so you're off the hook for now I'm fricking watching you though, if Gen 6 makes LBG shit and you drop it I'll find you and call you a metahomosexual
>game crashes while I'm editing loadouts and changing my radial menus
Out-fricking-skilled.
there's something fricked with the menus because all my crashes have only occurred when in one
Never crashed in loadouts but half the time the game crashes when returning to the title screen
They should add a dango or something that eliminates extra monsters on the field so they can't do that riding bullshit.
If there was a dango that was a .00001% chance to remove the boars that randomly charge you I'd take that shit in a heart beat.
I'd rather they just gave every monster an arena quest so I can have a 1v1 no-frilled tussle with them if I'm feeling inclined.
I'm fine when it's a npc companion but that shit grinds my gears when it's another player
>Dude spends most of the fight trying to wrangle monsters and make an already chaotic fight more chaotic
>When the monster he wrangles doesn't frick off after
>When he mounts the monster you're hunting then just fricking runs off to the other side of the map just to switch mounts instead of wall banging
The last one is pure abject cancer
Holy shit I didn't even know that was something people did.
Running to another room for a stage hazard to bonk into is worth it on afflicteds
Otherwise yeah its a waste
>When he mounts the monster you're hunting then just fricking runs off to the other side of the map just to switch mounts instead of wall banging
This shit makes me furious
I spam the confused stickers when these morons do this, even worse is when they run the full length of the map just to ram into a wall with some spikey endemic life on it for an extra 200 damage, and they've ran so far that now now one gets to attack the downed nonster
FRICK OFFFF
>someone rides the monster
>runs to the other side of the area and just sends the monster to the floor without hitting anything
>YOUR WEAPON IS BRAINDEAD
>NOOO YOUR WEAPON IS BRAINDEAD
>YOUR WEAPON KILLS THINGS TOO SLOWLY/QUICKLY
>NOOO YOUR WEAPON KILLS THINGS TOO QUICKLY/SLOWLY
I think it's about time I put SB down for now. All of you should be ashamed, just hit things until they die and stop caring about what weapons people use.
ARMORS
Are ALL bad, holy frick this is the worst game for fashion ever.
what the frick does grinder s do
It grinds s
If you sharpen, and restore at least 2 stages of sharpness (blue to purple for example) it gives a buff. Works with Ibushi weapons because they go from purple to blue (no white)
>it's the moronic MR30 LS user carting three (tres) times in a row against Gore in a hunt full of MR4s
i'm getting tired of reruns
What a chad.
Can furious rajang fricking CHILL? I just want to get one combo in, just one
Chichae sexo
God I wish she was your hunter's daughter
Chich, and her comically fat ass.
