That's the trick. GL is like HBG. You run to where you want to be, unsheathe and go to town. You use your hops to reposition and sheath and run when the monster moves too far. You've got a shield so you can tank a few hits if you need too.
Don't ground splitter if you don't have a shell or stake loaded, dummy.

Sleep bombing is pointless now. It's a fun meme if it's already asleep by the time you reach the area, but it's technically a detriment. In the time it takes everyone to sheathe, place bombs, position and then have one guy execute the wake up you would have done either the same or more than twice that total damage if everyone just hit it normally. It's not even a good tactic for breaking certain parts like Diablos horns anymore since a lot of weapons have Blunt now.
Unless you specifically ask them to let you sleep bomb, it's ridiculous to expect it. good luck when 99% of the players online seem to be Japanese.

I dont think it could before. I've noticed small monsters, and especially Bullfangos, are more aggressive in Sunbreak. They'll actively try to frick with me and the monster during an active fight. I don't know if I was ever run down by a fango in base game, but it happens like once per fight any time I do a Jungle hunt.

You can beat every quest in master rank and after the final boss you will be base rank. In rise you could do every quest prior to HR7 and it would not stockpile. It only stockpiles after reaching the end. It does waste your progress

Played with Hunting Horn with another Hunting Horn Bro we invited others to join, we had heals, unlimited sharpness and Ear Plugs, most people loved it and hunting was peak comfy.
I’m new to MH but I see lots of people talking about how important it is to cut a monsters tail. I also saw that hammer can’t really cut the tail but I like playing it. Can I just keep playing with hammer and not caring about tails? I only play solo btw.
It's one extra drop per hunt with increased odds of certain parts. It might be worth having a backup slashing weapon just for grinding specific materials because you'll often see stuff which is like 0% from carving, 5% from capture, 80% from tail, but for general hunting it doesn't matter.
You just need tail cuts to craft some of the weapons. It's not something you need to worry about unless you're trying to craft a weapon that requires one

Insect Glaive, because the aerial moves mean you can always be attacking the tail, even when it would be out of reach for most weapons. Best dedicated tail cutter if that's all you're looking for.
Is it hard to get used to it? I saw some videos of people playing it and for someone with no experience like myself it seemed like the hardest weapon in the game since there’s so much vertically to it.
You don't have to take to the sky unless you can't hit it from the ground. And once you're in the air it's dead simple what you do.
Mind you I only played it in base rise so maybe things changed in sb. I can't imagine it would by that much though.

Here's another important note for IG:
There's an input to send out your little bug friend to retrieve bug essences. Each monster has parts on them where different colored essences can be retrieved. These essences provide a temporary buff and, when you collect all three, you get a much better buff.
Also, the first three hours of monster hunter suck so much ass. Do not be discouraged.

If only there was a skill that only took few lvl 1 slots and made the sharpening a complete non-issue.
If you want more sharpness, you should use a weapon with more sharpness.
Just get Master's Touch and/or Razor Sharp. Unless you weapon has like 5 hits worth of sharpness you pretty much never need to sharpen in combat.

Same, some of those issues can be solved through settings (toggle lock on), some solved via decos (speed sharpening 3 only takes three level 1 decos), some solved with options the game already gives you (complains about running to the monster, use dogs for running fast or subcamps/recon spots for teleporting around the map), and the rest solved via git gud.
I don't see why anyone would hunt with other people. It's just a constant beatdown on the enemy, they barely get up and they're dead before anything happens.

Sunbreak has had better randoms than Rise, and both are infinitely better than World/Iceborne. Still miss the old days though.

All the buffs to instant block and anchor and general poking have singlehandedly made me go from "Rise is okay" to "Rise is really, really fun". Anyway here's Shogun's pisshole in HD.
The kamura weapons are all really damn good considering how easy they are to make. Much better than narga, but I'd rather use scorned magna in most cases

That's juicy. With the added blast damage that probably would be the highest damage option since if I'm remembering the stats right the only thing Kamura has over that is a lvl 4 slot over a lvl3 and 10 less raw.

For IG too? I haven't unlocked all the Rarity 10 stuff yet, but at a glance there's basically nothing else notably good unless you go full meme with like maximum Blast Magia Pitareen or become a Thunder God with 80ish Thunder to bully enemies weak to that.
Even Nargacuga is looking pretty meh here so you can't even go the base game Rise route either. I fricking hate Kinsect levels.
It helps that it's fricking amazing at applying status so you get 200-300 damage blast explosions constantly, but I was hoping for the options to open up with MR weapons. Nope, seems I will be playing the magical girl stick forever.

I don't because I don't give a shit about kill times and it feels like the Blast explosions make up for that loss of DPS. 12-15 minute kill times is enough for me, I just sharpen whenever the monster moves area or he's doing a big attack and I don't have the time to reach a weakspot before he recovers. Or, you know. Just any time during the fight.
Havent checked but it really seems to be the best lance, everything else is just bad because 20 more raw isnt worth it considering the pitiful purple it usually comes with and you are forced to run handicraft, kind of a shame since you have no reason to hunt any of the afflicted monsters to upgrade the other lances.
I already run it with WE and Agitator, the negative affinity is barely an issue with how easy it is to stack crit abilities in this game, the old Rise meta with the tigrex lance was a clear indicator aswell.
I have never carted on Furious Rajang. But the question remains what more endgame is there? Whats at MR70? Mr100? Can I go higher than 100? Im around MR65 right now
Scorned magnamalo at MR 100.His weapons are great/best in class for a lot of them and the armor is amazing for using as layered, but he's not too hard of a fight. I've been consistently clearing him in about 7 or 8 minutes online with randoms. On switch if anyone wants to farm him for a bit

Kinsect Slash + lvl 4 Dango Fighter + a blunt kinsect is pure comedy.
Just non-stop divekicking monsters in the face with constant fully charged Diving Wyverns to finish it off. It's good anyway, but with the effectively infinite stamina of the dango it becomes absurd. So many monsters just can't deal with you being above them.
Kicking upwards to knock Khezu off the ceiling when he was always just out of reach with the old switch skill feels incredible, too.

I had one hunt recently where 3 LS users joined my hunt simultaneously after I had already gotten the monster down to capturable health alone and when the hunt ended they all sent me likes at the exact same time.
It was very surreal in the moment and convinced me that all LS users are secretly drones that turn their minds off when they play.
Also does anybody else have trouble with the SOS system lately?
It feels like most of the people joining my hunts only do so after I've weakened the monster to capturable health alone. Even when I'm farming shitmons like R.Ludroth I can't seem to consistently get people to join my hunts.

This is likely some kind of matchmaking bug, I've noticed it in multiple hunts that I activated the SOS flare on where 3 people all join at the same time near the end.
I heard in another thread that the matchmaking is based on your steam's location settings so I thought that maybe the east coast might be having population issues but I've never seen any proof one way or the other.
Weirdly enough whenever I play with my Texan friend it's like the matchmaking suddenly works flawlessly.
I hardly get randoms until the end of my hunts alone but as soon as I play with them it's like their presence in the hunt is a bridge to the west coast. Doesn't even matter when they join or who joins who's hunts.
If they play alone their hunts fill up with randoms very fast, and if they join any of my hunts the extra two slots never go unused.
It's all very strange.
I would be willing to bet it’s a technical issue on the server side. So many people are playing in the first few weeks that the servers can barely keep up with the SOS queue. They probably consider it a success as long as 4 people enter a hunt regardless of how soon it happens
ranged weapons became extremely braindead starting in world. You can move and shoot to do a lot of damage for free in scenarios that wouldn't have been possible before. Also for HBG in particular you can be extremely scummy by putting a shield on your HBG which acts as autoguard and spread ammo is actually powerful now so you just point blank and shoot all day.
I keep forgetting generations existed since I didn't play it much.
If you're implying something sooner than that then I don't know what to say. 4U was peak gunner for me.
Black person what do you not understand about Valor Style? It was an overpowered southeast that allowed most weapon movesets to become utterly broken in GU.

Valor was unironically the best about GU. Every weapon got new fun attack moves, while every other style was spamming one move. Fricking hated styles in Gen and resorted to play guild style.

LS/LBG/HBG make up like 60% of all hunters I think. I can see why though, I tried out the Narga LBG for rapid fire pierce 2 and holy frick this thing fricks. It does like 200-300 damage every shot.

Maybe my cats are just moronic but most of the time they just miss with the kittenator.
They can miss sometimes yeah but something I noticed is that they will sit and wait for the monster to come in range before firing so you can use this knowledge to bait the monster into it if you feel like you can.
Problem is that the cats seem to have a really long reaction time when they fire the kittenator. If monster comes into range and then moves at all it will miss.
I've heard that if they miss they can try again and the kittenator is only expended once it hits. Can't confirm it though since I haven't forgiven Lottery Box after what it did to my palico skills.

The Palamutes being tied to your actions is a lot more fun for me than just having a cat whose value is 100% random outside of Pilfer, although this is a lot less noticeable on weapons that move around a lot like IG.
I sometimes play with randoms when there's a 3 monster hunt, but usually it's a fricking disaster. The game actively punishes you for playing multiplayer anyway by ensuring you make 0 money. Sometimes I co-op with a real life friend or two and that's a blast.

Gunlance isn't an optimal Weapon. It's a Boomstick with a Shield. You have to make peace with that.

MR 4 is where it gets interesting-ish. I almost triple carted to Malzeno and that was my hardest fight (didn’t fight it in the demo). It never really ramps up that much though, fingers crossed for title updates
It never gets truly difficult for veterans but the two difficulty spikes I felt were Shagaru Magala and Afflicted Arzuros, both times because I underestimated them.
I played through the base game on day 1 on switch, just bought rise+sunbreak on pc the other day. I can just hammer out the gathering hub quests to get to sunbreak, right?

He is just lackluster, and awkward sponge which takes damage only on some tiny parts, has the noodly dangly head all raths have and also runs around. It feels like a modded nexusmods monster, down to its theme.
I found him to be one of the better new additions to the game, looking forward to the most likely dlc subspecies, and perhaps more frontier monsters, odibatorasu is already somewhat canon so he could show up.
IIrc before p3rd's release a mh book came out that hinted at the existance of a ukanlos and akantor relative that lived in the desert, or atleast that's what the wiki says.

I tripled carted because of the paralysis and tight spots in the jungle. He was the first MR monster I triple carted to.

I think you just need to learn how to play and/or stop paying attention to Speedrungays, anon. Counters are 100% not necessary for any monster, every attack can be dodged and your DPS without those special moves is still high enough to kill the monster in reasonable time.

motherfricker I play LS and barely counter myself. Its moronic how busted some of these new silkbinds are that don't require countering at all. Spammig sakura slash and having the arena up at all times nets me 9-10 min hunts without me barely using counter moves.

IB narga was a mistake, rise reverting it's HR moveset to the older titles was based, but the experimentation they went with for MR sucks, what the frick is that bite combo attack?
Is this game unoptimized or something? Sometimes im getting full 120fps but on certain maps like the jungle when its raining it drops to ~100 but then it goes back
Definitely room for improvement (just switching from Astalos to Gore helm will give me one extra free slot in exchange for the chain crit that isn't as useful with Kinsect Slash vs the vanilla switch skill) but I'm finally vaguely happy with this.
Challenger is one of those skills that scale with the player. You will find yourself hitting the rage threshold faster as you get better at the game.
Crit abuse is very powerful and has been broken as frick since Gen, but you can never go wrong with the o'l reliable attack up skill if you're still learning the ropes.
I debated Con vs Agitator but has the shit I needed for Agitator already, and Dash Juice/Dango Figher compensates for the lack of it. Power Prolonger is worthless with Kinsect Slash, you're refreshing your buffs constantly.
Astalos, Shagaru, and Steve unironically had their Black person factor amped up by 10 in this game, I hate fighting them in this game despite enjoying their old fights

I'm double dipping and buying Rise + Sunbreak on PC. I'm assuming a save transfer from Switch to PC doesn't exist so I have to use a save editor and just copy my Switch save as close as possible.
This is the problem for me with rise, everything is so fast, you included, that the only way to make things threatening is to make monsters even more spastic with crazy tracking, hitboxes and pew-pew lasers and AOEs. It's ridiuclous

HR Mizu is the wake-up call fight in base rise. He's a slippery fricker and has a variety of moves, especially for newer players, many of which can hit for more than 50% of your health around the time that you fight him. Time to upgrade your armor and actually learn his tells. Once you learn to him though, Mizu is one of the most fun monsters to beat up on.
What the frick do you even do to S rank the Daimyo Hermitaur in the arena? I've S ranked every single other MR arena quest but I can't beat this fricker in 4 minutes with these weapons. Is one of them just heads and shoulders stronger than the others with a specific switch skill that I'm neglecting or something?
Ok is the new Rajang skill as broken as it sounds? Cause it sounds like you can just swap back to red when the buff runs out and immediately get it back up by swapping to blue again for infinite stamina permanently.
It got better in SB. Echo mode seems to be the one that has both better damage and utility and the buffs to some moves made the whole moveset worth exploring so you don't spam ZR+A constantly like with performance mode.
Granted, the variety of songs and your ability to keep them up is still way simpler than older games but you have some interesting choices here like sharpness songs.
The new ZL+X wirebug also made elemental HH really good.
If you want to make one to try both the Malzeno and the Lunagaron ones are decent early, the final boss is decent too. Don't forget Horn Maestro on your set.

If you ZL+X from neutral and you get a counter you only get a lvl 3 Charged Slash
If, while you are charging, TAP (it activates on release) ZL and you get a counter you skip to lvl 3 TCS

So I'm aware that most of the new Swaxes are power phials apparently but are exhaust phials worth using at all now? I was maining hammer for funn but fun is only gonna take me so far and I wanted to branch out to other weapons while still having decent KO potential.

That's the trick. GL is like HBG. You run to where you want to be, unsheathe and go to town. You use your hops to reposition and sheath and run when the monster moves too far. You've got a shield so you can tank a few hits if you need too.

Granted I've just been using Wide GLs in Sunbreak with Load Up, but I've been having a blast (pun intended) with it so far. Also, retreating blast bashes with the shield, so you can use that as well to cover distances and get more hits in. I'm not sure if it guards as well. Never actually tried.
Evade extender, it really helps to evade a lot of attacks and repositioning.
So don't play gunlance then you whiny frick.

I quite often accidentally wyrmstake which is such a pain because it usually misses and the animation takes a year and a half.

Surprisingly well. Usually when mosnters fall asleep there's one idiot who wakes him up but so far in SB most of the randoms I've played with plant bombs properly.

Sleep bombing is pointless now. It's a fun meme if it's already asleep by the time you reach the area, but it's technically a detriment. In the time it takes everyone to sheathe, place bombs, position and then have one guy execute the wake up you would have done either the same or more than twice that total damage if everyone just hit it normally. It's not even a good tactic for breaking certain parts like Diablos horns anymore since a lot of weapons have Blunt now.
Unless you specifically ask them to let you sleep bomb, it's ridiculous to expect it. good luck when 99% of the players online seem to be Japanese.

I dont think it could before. I've noticed small monsters, and especially Bullfangos, are more aggressive in Sunbreak. They'll actively try to frick with me and the monster during an active fight. I don't know if I was ever run down by a fango in base game, but it happens like once per fight any time I do a Jungle hunt.
Sometimes I'll be running around getting birds and I'll see small monsters actively fighting large monsters.
Same. I got hit by like one Bulfango in Village 3 once and a single Bnahabra out in the open that I wasn't paying attention to. Now in MR when fighting an afflicted Great Izuchi the Izuchi actively charged me and got in my way (being an IGgay trying for 2 minutes to get red extract when these frickers constantly charge in front of its tail is painful as frick. Also I now hate Jaggi/Jaggia with a burning passion.
I love what they did to Small Monster AI, it's great.

Keep in mind that some weapons have different sizes / numbers of rampage deco slots, so it might occasionally be worth it to run the B-tier decos
Are there any even half-decent rampage decos? I'm MR 34 and all the rampage decos available range from meh to totally useless.

Played with Hunting Horn with another Hunting Horn Bro we invited others to join, we had heals, unlimited sharpness and Ear Plugs, most people loved it and hunting was peak comfy.
I’m new to MH but I see lots of people talking about how important it is to cut a monsters tail. I also saw that hammer can’t really cut the tail but I like playing it. Can I just keep playing with hammer and not caring about tails? I only play solo btw.
It's one extra drop per hunt with increased odds of certain parts. It might be worth having a backup slashing weapon just for grinding specific materials because you'll often see stuff which is like 0% from carving, 5% from capture, 80% from tail, but for general hunting it doesn't matter.

Insect Glaive, because the aerial moves mean you can always be attacking the tail, even when it would be out of reach for most weapons. Best dedicated tail cutter if that's all you're looking for.
Is it hard to get used to it? I saw some videos of people playing it and for someone with no experience like myself it seemed like the hardest weapon in the game since there’s so much vertically to it.
You don't have to take to the sky unless you can't hit it from the ground. And once you're in the air it's dead simple what you do.
Mind you I only played it in base rise so maybe things changed in sb. I can't imagine it would by that much though.
Thanks anons, I bought the physical copy of rise+sunbreak but haven’t gotten it yet so I haven’t tried the weapons yet. Insect glaive reall looks cool so I think I might just start the game with it and learn along the way.
Here's another important note for IG:
There's an input to send out your little bug friend to retrieve bug essences. Each monster has parts on them where different colored essences can be retrieved. These essences provide a temporary buff and, when you collect all three, you get a much better buff.
Also, the first three hours of monster hunter suck so much ass. Do not be discouraged.

Completely optional, unless you're going for speed runner autism. Also there are skills and dango which increase the bonuses gained from spiribirds, reducing time running around picking them up.

Just get Master's Touch and/or Razor Sharp. Unless you weapon has like 5 hits worth of sharpness you pretty much never need to sharpen in combat.
If you want more sharpness, you should use a weapon with more sharpness.

Same, some of those issues can be solved through settings (toggle lock on), some solved via decos (speed sharpening 3 only takes three level 1 decos), some solved with options the game already gives you (complains about running to the monster, use dogs for running fast or subcamps/recon spots for teleporting around the map), and the rest solved via git gud.

If it's anything like GS the meta choice is the Kamura lance.
The kamura weapons are all really damn good considering how easy they are to make. Much better than narga, but I'd rather use scorned magna in most cases

That's juicy. With the added blast damage that probably would be the highest damage option since if I'm remembering the stats right the only thing Kamura has over that is a lvl 4 slot over a lvl3 and 10 less raw.

Also purple isn't as insane as the jump from blue to white. 7% raw increase from white to purple which sure is nice, but if you dip into white for a bit it's not the end of the world
Yeah locking with PP3 you wont need to sharpen again until the monster fricks off to another area or sleeps, even with element weapons, some of the element damage is so high white is fine

I don't because I don't give a shit about kill times and it feels like the Blast explosions make up for that loss of DPS. 12-15 minute kill times is enough for me, I just sharpen whenever the monster moves area or he's doing a big attack and I don't have the time to reach a weakspot before he recovers. They're the meta choice for Lance, Wide GL and impact CB afaik
Havent checked but it really seems to be the best lance, everything else is just bad because 20 more raw isnt worth it considering the pitiful purple it usually comes with and you are forced to run handicraft, kind of a shame since you have no reason to hunt any of the afflicted monsters to upgrade the other lances.
IIRC it's really good on lance because you can slot in the Kushala rampage deco and effectively negate the minus affinity if you keep your pokes up.
I already run it with WE and Agitator, the negative affinity is barely an issue with how easy it is to stack crit abilities in this game, the old Rise meta with the tigrex lance was a clear indicator aswell.

Kinsect Slash + lvl 4 Dango Fighter + a blunt kinsect is pure comedy.
Just non-stop divekicking monsters in the face with constant fully charged Diving Wyverns to finish it off. It's good anyway, but with the effectively infinite stamina of the dango it becomes absurd. So many monsters just can't deal with you being above them.
Kicking upwards to knock Khezu off the ceiling when he was always just out of reach with the old switch skill feels incredible, too.

Erupting Cannon allows you to combo into another Shell or Slashing Attack after firing.
So the Wide Combo is usually something like Shell, Shell, EC, Shell, Guard Reload, repeat.

Why are gunners so common now? It feels like every hunt has two or three. I mostly played bow in 4U and I don't remember seeing nearly as many.
Meanwhile, all my hunts have at least 2 LS users, with the third being a coin toss between DB or HH, weirdly enough.
I had one hunt recently where 3 LS users joined my hunt simultaneously after I had already gotten the monster down to capturable health alone and when the hunt ended they all sent me likes at the exact same time.
It was very surreal in the moment and convinced me that all LS users are secretly drones that turn their minds off when they play.
Also does anybody else have trouble with the SOS system lately?
It feels like most of the people joining my hunts only do so after I've weakened the monster to capturable health alone. Even when I'm farming shitmons like R.Ludroth I can't seem to consistently get people to join my hunts.

This is likely some kind of matchmaking bug, I've noticed it in multiple hunts that I activated the SOS flare on where 3 people all join at the same time near the end.
I heard in another thread that the matchmaking is based on your steam's location settings so I thought that maybe the east coast might be having population issues but I've never seen any proof one way or the other.
Weirdly enough whenever I play with my Texan friend it's like the matchmaking suddenly works flawlessly.
I hardly get randoms until the end of my hunts alone but as soon as I play with them it's like their presence in the hunt is a bridge to the west coast. Doesn't even matter when they join or who joins who's hunts.
If they play alone their hunts fill up with randoms very fast, and if they join any of my hunts the extra two slots never go unused.
It's all very strange.
I would be willing to bet it’s a technical issue on the server side. So many people are playing in the first few weeks that the servers can barely keep up with the SOS queue. They probably consider it a success as long as 4 people enter a hunt regardless of how soon it happens
ranged weapons became extremely braindead starting in world. You can move and shoot to do a lot of damage for free in scenarios that wouldn't have been possible before. Also for HBG in particular you can be extremely scummy by putting a shield on your HBG which acts as autoguard and spread ammo is actually powerful now so you just point blank and shoot all day.

LS/LBG/HBG make up like 60% of all hunters I think. I can see why though, I tried out the Narga LBG for rapid fire pierce 2 and holy frick this thing fricks. It does like 200-300 damage every shot.

Maybe my cats are just moronic but most of the time they just miss with the kittenator.
They can miss sometimes yeah but something I noticed is that they will sit and wait for the monster to come in range before firing so you can use this knowledge to bait the monster into it if you feel like you can.
Problem is that the cats seem to have a really long reaction time when they fire the kittenator. If monster comes into range and then moves at all it will miss.
I've heard that if they miss they can try again and the kittenator is only expended once it hits. Can't confirm it though since I haven't forgiven Lottery Box after what it did to my palico skills.

The Palamutes being tied to your actions is a lot more fun for me than just having a cat whose value is 100% random outside of Pilfer, although this is a lot less noticeable on weapons that move around a lot like IG.
It doesn't matter how much more damage or status effects the dogs do. They just cannot match the power of the gatherer cats.
I always use Good Luck skill. Free drops every hunt.
I sometimes play with randoms when there's a 3 monster hunt, but usually it's a fricking disaster. The game actively punishes you for playing multiplayer anyway by ensuring you make 0 money. Sometimes I co-op with a real life friend or two and that's a blast.

Gunlance doesn't really need it.
Bullet Barrage and Erupting Cannon can replace Ground Splitter and Wyrmstake easily, Charged Shelling is still dead, and Hail Cutter is only useful if you want to spam Bullet Barrage, but still not needed.
That leaves you with Blast Dash, Erupting Cannon, Bullet Barrage, Quick or Guard Reload, and Guard Edge or Reverse Blast Dash.
That should make your decision easier.

Lifesteal when you hit a broken part. It's huge, I can heal about a third of my HP with one poke combo on a weakpoint head.

When does Sunbreak get hard? I was thinking Lunagaron was gonna be the first challenge but he was piss easy.
MR 4 is where it gets interesting-ish. I almost triple carted to Malzeno and that was my hardest fight (didn’t fight it in the demo). It never really ramps up that much though, fingers crossed for title updates
It never gets truly difficult for veterans but the two difficulty spikes I felt were Shagaru Magala and Afflicted Arzuros, both times because I underestimated them.

I think you just need to learn how to play and/or stop paying attention to Speedrungays, anon. Counters are 100% not necessary for any monster, every attack can be dodged and your DPS without those special moves is still high enough to kill the monster in reasonable time.

motherfricker I play LS and barely counter myself. Its moronic how busted some of these new silkbinds are that don't require countering at all. Spammig sakura slash and having the arena up at all times nets me 9-10 min hunts without me barely using counter moves.

Definitely room for improvement (just switching from Astalos to Gore helm will give me one extra free slot in exchange for the chain crit that isn't as useful with Kinsect Slash vs the vanilla switch skill) but I'm finally vaguely happy with this.

You can safely approximate it as 100% uptime with how often monsters get mad in Sunbreak
Challenger is one of those skills that scale with the player. You will find yourself hitting the rage threshold faster as you get better at the game.
Crit abuse is very powerful and has been broken as frick since Gen, but you can never go wrong with the o'l reliable attack up skill if you're still learning the ropes.

I brought a blue sharpness Lance with no Guard Up and I ate shit for it. Much easier with IG, or at least higher sharpness and Guard Up.

If you do all MR arena quests you get a headpiece with Good Luck 3 on it.

Good Luck doesn't even seem to do much. You just get like 2 extra drops, most of which are just Eggs or Melding stuff.

HR Mizu is the wake-up call fight in base rise. He's a slippery fricker and has a variety of moves, especially for newer players, many of which can hit for more than 50% of your health around the time that you fight him. Time to upgrade your armor and actually learn his tells. Once you learn to him though, Mizu is one of the most fun monsters to beat up on.

Ok is the new Rajang skill as broken as it sounds? Cause it sounds like you can just swap back to red when the buff runs out and immediately get it back up by swapping to blue again for infinite stamina permanently.

It is really that braindead, but no more braindead than a lot of weapons like Dual Blades or Hammer.
Echo Mode is the closest you'll get to complexity from the weapon and they couldn't even stop themselves from oversimplifying that
It got better in SB. Echo mode seems to be the one that has both better damage and utility and the buffs to some moves made the whole moveset worth exploring so you don't spam ZR+A constantly like with performance mode.
Granted, the variety of songs and your ability to keep them up is still way simpler than older games but you have some interesting choices here like sharpness songs.
The new ZL+X wirebug also made elemental HH really good.
If you want to make one to try both the Malzeno and the Lunagaron ones are decent early, the final boss is decent too. Don't forget Horn Maestro on your set.
If you ZL+X from neutral and you get a counter you only get a lvl 3 Charged Slash
If, while you are charging, TAP (it activates on release) ZL and you get a counter you skip to lvl 3 TCS

The input feels like shit because you have to press X again but taking your finger off of X releases the charge
Also for some reason every time I do land it only puts me in level 1 charge.
Also does it instantly full charge when you counter or is it carrying over your charge levels for when you do counter because I'm confused visually sometimes
