Best horn you can get relatively early on is Lunagaron. Sharpness Regen is insane and that purple sharpness is great.
Malzeno Horn is also really nice, the dragon element and elemental damage song is great.
Once you get far enough, Furious Rajang is fantastic, Affinity + Attack, Earplugs, and Sonic Wave make for a great offensive horn. And it has a generous helping of purple sharpness.
That's what I've personally used, probably some other good horns.

It's one of the reasons why Rise is the easiest MH game. Higher skill floor but significantly lower skill ceiling because the tools hunters have and the power they have are higher than even MHGU outside of valor style but even then.

Long and normal are mostly the same, wide is different, it knocks out monsters if you can get wyrmstakes on their head and the explosion does more AoE but it has very low ammo count.
Low ammo matters if you like the moves that dump all of it at once (more ammo= more dmg) or hate reloading.
Note that EC also does KO on wide.
Also all three shell types have near equal BB damage.

It's going to vary depending on your needs, but Wroggi Helm X is pretty much a must-have on any Rapid Fire build since it has 2 levels of Rapid Fire Up, Evade Extender 1 and a level 1 slot.

Is the chargeblade harder, easier or about the same as the switchaxe? I want to try out a new weapon but I'm bad at the game. I'm by no means a master with the SA but I consider myself quite good at it. I suck at using counter-based weapons, though.
I played LS and SA in base Rise and switched to CB for Sunbreak and I'm struggling. I'll CPP and go for the SAED and get hit anyways because the wind up is so damn long, or I'll be on my axe hopper moveset and try to CPP on reaction, or if I realize I'm on axe hopper I'll try to guard point but miss because my fingers get confused, or I'll get all setup and get a knock out on a monster and still miss my SAED or axe hopper anyways. I saw someone on here once say the weapon is like constantly engaging in foreplay with it and I definitely feel that. Granted I'm fricking terrible at it so that's on me.

Full burst is also doing around 800ish depending on normal vs long and where the slam hits the monster. Not to mention being able to follow up with the sweep and stake adding potentially 500+ more to that basic combo.

I noticed all of those things. That is very cool and it would have been awesome if lunargaron had like 25% of its normal hp or wildly altered movements so it's not a 10 minute hunt for no purpose but to progress the story.
There was music playing during the Qurio quest and it's entire point was to contrast how intense the next quest is, although they should have had it automatically run to the area outside the base camp and always die there with the Qurio flying out towards the thing in the next cutscene to naturally transition.
I was expecting it have like 6000HP and die really quickly, only to have the ground beneath us collapse opening up a path underground.

The one exception is the Frenzy, namely when the Magalas spread their scales everywhere. Especially tanks when there are more than 2 players or other monsters also on screen.
Higher fps makes the game harder btw. Monsters track you better with attacks at higher fps

I've used hammer since Tri and been at it every game for at least 200+ hunts each game.
Courage feels like the standard way to use it, if I know I can land hits a lot more than strength.
They insanely buff Courage mode where the 2nd charge is half and the third is instant and you can instant charge to 3 after a golf swing or 2 in mid combo. With Impact burst you hit up to 5 numbers with that level 3 charge that have a lot of KO properties. If you don't enjoy crater spam prepare for impact spam but, spinning my hammer and seeing a bunch of numbers activates my unga monkey brain.
Strength is still useful when the fricker can't sit the frick still and you need those big numbers again or prefer less combo spam I guess you could say.
I honestly thought I wasn't going to swap moves mid hunt much but every move is a big need.
Spinning bludgeon:Charge is useful for swapping back in forth to strength mode faster if you're dodging and moving with the constant switches and the swing hits still do good damage.
Side smash is the only useless move until someone tells me otherwise.

Monsters are a threat in the old game because only 1 weapon had a counter and none of them had good mobility so you were forced to learn the monster's moveset and exploit it. Nu-MH seems to be going in a direction of just giving hunters bullshit powers to ignore the new bullshit moves they've given to monsters so it devolves into just a slugfest of

It's one of the reasons I stopped playing DB's. Had an incident where an Anjanath was doing the charging move with a back kick back to back for about 1 minute and ping-ponging across the map

Learn to use counters. MHR is designed around abusing the frick out of weapons with counters - it's the reason why everything is so spastic. Any weapon that has no counters will be the shittiest weapons (excluding range weapons because they're fundamentally broken)

it's very hard to get consistently, even if you've already memorized the move you want, you need to have your relative positioning and blocking angle already set up for how the monster will be after it does the move since you can't free-aim the tcs. the move is so strong that even hitting a part that you weren't aiming for end up being worth it though, so it's a good thing to practice regardless
Normalgays exposure to TA runs were a mistake. There's way too many people who panic about not having the perfect set/talisman for their weapon and also worry about using "unoptimal" moves when they don't even achieve competitive times on their hunts. Let alone people comparing weapons against each other when even TA runs are contained to each specific weapon category.

Just attack trying to get into TCS constantly like you would in World and spam the shit out of it, that way you're just naturally in charge more often than not so you can just naturally react if you see an attack that will hit you. Sometimes you'll eat a hit to the face when you get hit mid transition or if it's a multi hit but it's fine so long as you keep topped up. Plus if you know it's a multi hit you can remember the pattern and intentionally tackle through the first hits and only strongarm on the one you know is the last. Also despite it only taking 1 wirebug when used through charge, you actually can only use it when you have 2 so bring wirebug whisperer if you want to use it more consistently.

There's an armour skill that randomly spawns Spiribirds around you and another that randomly doubles their effect, but you can also just ignore them entirely because not using them leaves you with 150HP (the same Max HP as previous MH games) and the game is not balanced around 200 HP.

No way. I never ran either of those skills and never ran into any issues. I'm probably a slightly above average hunter having played most of the games but I never even felt the need to have more than 150 health in IB. Same in rise with collecting birds as well.

What a lot of people don't realize is that having 200% more DPS than someone means jack fricking shit if you're still spending half the hunt healing from hits. If you're a shitter or only a slightly above average player (like me), you'll probably get way more mileage out of other skills.
You are probably just bad or obtaining some other skill that offesets them by being another attack skill

Steve's HBG let you Normal 3, Pierce 3, Spread 3, and Slice with zero Deviation by default. Its an all round HBG in my opinion. I haven't unlock all the HBG yet, however.
Any recommendations for sets? I'm using the Rheneplos+Kamura+Artillery hand/waist/leg setup right now, but I don't really have a good talisman for anything. I can take the time to farm some decos if it'd make my life easier, though. I just want to try learning HBG before I get too far into MR, since I just beat Malzeno.
It really depends on whether or not you're going guard or dodge. If you're going to guard (you just point your gun at your target and do NOTHING while monster hit you to register as a guard hit) or dodge. Former, you get Guard and maybe Guard up if you want to block everything and you must set your HBG mod to Shield. Evade Extender if you're dodging. From here, gearing is all over the place depending whether or not you want to focus on Normal, Spread, or Pierce. And then you have to consider getting mods to help reduce the weakness of your HBG. The mods like Recoil, Deviation, Reload Speed. And then you go from picking skill that is more defense or more damage.
Sticky is its own thing. You need to get Slugger and Artillery in your gear to make Sticky worth using as your main ammo. Especially now when they're nerfed.

It restores a bit of sharpness and gives you a buff that restores sharpness each time you dodge an attack. Dodging with shrouded vault counts and restores sharpness too.

Blood Rite does nothing until a part is damage. You have to keep hitting said damage part to heal you. The heal is base on your damage. The set also comes with Weakness Exploit and Partbreaker, both of which encourage you to break the parts.
It's for getting AB7/CB3/WEX and you get maxed out Blight resistance as a bonus.

It's way trickier than it looks and really not consistent at all. It becomes marginally better once you've spent hours and hours studying each and every single monster movements and if the monster cooperates enough to do that move that is a one hit and leaves him open long enough. But will you find that fun? that's up to you.

Well, the drop rates are pretty stingy and you generally need 7 or 2x5 per weapon so even getting surplus in the first place is a pain in the ass if you use more than one weapon or collect shit.
well thats kinda my point, since they dont drop alot they couldve been usable on the melding pot for a huge amount but also i guess that would encourage to farm them which also wouldnt be great either, i really just wish charms dropped from completing quests AND you can use the melding pot like the old games.
Hopefully Capcom will let us use old afflicted parts as melding material in the title updates.

Absolutely not, cats are 1000 times more useful. The only advantage dogs have is mobility which can be offset a little by wirebug dashing, but for the test they suck.
Dogs can do one status very well because of umbrella. The rest of their kit is definitely lacking.

They have much higher DPS and Status, along with now an immobilizing skill. Cats don't really do enough useful stuff to outclass the damage and their useful stuff is heavily RNG reliant, aside from the sheer amount of materials gathered of course.
Nah cats have much better skills all around, really no need to take dogs.

What would they be? Cats are definitely worth taking over at least one dog for Pilfer alone, but in my experience they do not really help that much in actual combat.

But Palamutes are actual.HUNTING dogs who help track down your prey and finish them off, while Palicos are the equivalent of bringing a chemist with a taser along.

That's what I'm saying. If you want hunting, why not the hunting dog who actually works with you like a real Hunter instead of a cat who just randomly hurls things around or plays beyblade? Dogs don't interrupt the hunt at all, but cats do.

as a hammer player i pretty consistently end up stunning the monster while its being or already down from another monsters punisher which feels like a waste but its a neat bonus at times

Ever since sunbreak my game has a chance to freeze completely whenever I enter combat in the frost islands and I really have no idea what's happening. Essentially the whole map is off limits for me, and I had no issues like this before sunbreak so they must have messed something up

What's the kinsect meta? Assist no longer gets dual color and I tried the powder kinsect explosion which does horrendous amounts of damage. Tetraseal still seems like trash however so I have to mark stuff manually.

I dunno but I don't find the powder kinsects fun but I feel like I'm just wasting time not using them since they're so fricking good.
the new assist bugs apply a powder that gives you all 3 juices when you walk in it up to 2 times and an infinite amount of them can be placed afaik. They do take awhile since you need to do attacks that involve your bug so tetraseal is actually good
I run the new assist, alongside tetraseal you never need to refresh your buff manually since it hits so much around the area you mark it always generates a cloud.
The powder explosion is so fricking boring.

Are the other switch axe skills good? im using gambit as free earplugs in my openers but diving mine 90% of the time
