Yes. You can do 90% of your damage in the air with Kinsect Slash and only use ground combos as filler if you're out of stamina. Use a blunt kinsect and you turn the glaive into an aerial hammer with stuns.
I've legit stopped almost using aerial entirely due to assist, unless the homosexual monster is flying.
Chaining tetraseals into whirlwinds into refresh cloouds into tetraseal again is a lot of fun.

After an certain number of hits it makes a little cloud that refreshes your extracts. I'm not sure how many hits it takes exactly though and the cloud itself has a really tiny hitbox. You have to touch the dead center of it to get the effect and it sometimes spawns just a little too far off the ground to just walk into it. I went back to the old assist bug after using it for a while.

What I imagine happening after 4 is that the Guild becomes aware of how to bring Frenzy under control or something like that, so it's not as big of an issue anymore. Gore is still a threat but not a world ending one since they know how to handle it now.

World's main hubs are the one thing I really miss in Rise. I know it's due to hardware limitations, but they felt much more alive. Kamura is just so fricking barren. Having the researchers hang out around the last monster you captured, the canteen bustling with other hunters, just other hunters in general hanging out, felt so much comfier and more immersive. Kamura feels like you're the only hunter in a village of a dozen people.
Astera was a little too spread out, it's true, but I still appreciated the atmosphere. Seliana was the GOAT hub, though. I also kind of miss the old food, dango are pretty boring. Is there a proper canteen in Sunbreak, or is it just more dango?

Surge is worse, but only in a relative sense (that being relative to the strongest Blademaster setup right now). It shuts out damage because of GSs high MV, and you can still fricking use TCS even without swaps
I fricking wish gs was more common. I run a sleep cat and there is never a gs in multiplayer to capitalize on it. Some long sword, db, or braindead gunner always triggers the wakeup before I even get the first bomb down.

I was disappointed at first, but after playing with it, it's awesome. At least on SA, where you get tons of opportunities to dodge. The sharpness gain is pretty massive (you can completely refill the purple of the last boss weapons in about two, three evasions). There are some monsters that are bad matchups for it, so the skill is pretty useless then, but against some you'll never not have a full bar, like against Rajang. Overall I like it a lot. It's more skill-based now.
It also becomes a 2 point decoration, so you can eventually throw it in wherever you want.

Not that guy but because HH is the Healer of MH; it allows bad players to entirely ignore the whole combat aspect of gameplay. The difference between a shit HH and a great HH is whether they're balls deep in monster blood smashing their head to paste or not. Great HHs will use their songs and then get stuck in, shit ones will act like they're a healer in an MMO and sit at the backline. They're like bow/gun users but worse. Even more irritating when the monster swaps focus to them and everyone has to run after it for a solid 2 minutes before it loses interest.
Not anon, but as a shitter myself HH giving major buffs and having extremely fast walking while unsheathed was a huge reason I used to main it. That walking speed in general made positioning for head attacks easy as cake because even if you messed up the timing or got hit before an opening you just speed walked over there and got at least 1 hit in.
The attacks are simple enough that anyone can hit with them and very versatile with low + high smacks, while not being slow either so you're not in harm's way that often. The sole thing not noob friendly about Old HH was finding a time to play a song on later fights, but that wasn't exactly impossible either.

IG powder vortex is fun.
i can use the chameleos layered armor, a blast kinsect with powder vortex, and magia crescent glaive and it feels like im finally playing a magic class in monster hunter.
As a long term Gunlance user I'm enjoying myself. The Bullet Barrage is satisfying but too heavy an investment, but the Eruption Cannon swapped out for the Wyrmstake is awesome. I get to use Blast Dash into an overhead slam, full unload all five shells in one blow and then follow up with the eruption. Add to that I can Wyvern's Fire and hail cutter for an instant 50% off the recharge meter and I'm essentially zooming around every fight exploding monsters constantly. Hardest part is angling my Wyvern's Fire to not hit others to avoid acting like every LS user ever.
Probably long, BB spam is our strongest DPS and long gives it the highest damage per BB. Long is also very close to normal's fullburst damage, so its flexible outside of BB as well.

It does the same damage regardless of where you hit, why you point it at the weak point where everyone gathers.
Barrioth more than the average monster suffers from part breaks nerfing his moveset, frick up his wings and his speed drops to half, break his face and his damage drops to half
I've been ok with hyper speed in sunbreak so far. But what the frick is GL supposed to do against Rajang, feels like there is literally no openings longer than to do a basic poke or shell (not even enough time to do both) and nothing more.
Things like BB just tends to zip past him because the moronic aiming and collision detection with rajang. One example being I stopped at rajang and none of my BB connected as same frame I stopped he back hopped and beamed me in recovery for an instant cart. I just can't think of what I'm supposed to do that isn't turn it into a 30 minute fight of basic poke shelling, where I go back to camp every time he runs because chip has caused me to use healing items. Just feels like any answer to this fight is a losing one where I've felt so far elsewise there's something somewhere I could exploit until now.

Bear in mind this is partially fuelled by mild anger and very heavy annoyance, but the entire fight is mostly just heavy tracking on attacks and wide range fire breaths now it seems. A lot faster in general. Doesn't stay put much. He stays in the air a lot more because he's constantly spamming fire attacks/charges. Hitboxes are fricking atrocious on anything melee, but at least the fire attacks are very tight.
He just sucks and is no fun even when you're winning.
They made him fun starting from World IMO
He still flies a lot but low enough to constantly for you to attack his tail and most importantly, no more wind pressure like the old games so you can camp underneath without getting stunned
World Rathalos was just about bearable exclusively because flashlocking him was easier than ever. If you ever let him actually do anything he was an even bigger pain in the ass than in previous games.

you can use your kinsect to gather all the powder clouds you have placed around the area, and it will explode. the element/status applied to the clouds also effects it

I honestly kind of miss being bad at MonHun when every hunt was a true struggle. I used to use every tool in the game to beat Azure Rathalos quickly back in 3U for that goddamn mantle, and I got good at it too. But before I got good, he terrified me. Probably took me 25 minutes on average to hunt him, with a bunch of items used. I looked up videos and made sets for Deviljho because he was so scary. I didn't even want to think about a Diablos hunt.
Now they're just sort of annoying. Enjoy the journey, new hunters. One day you'll have gotten gud, and then there'll be nowhere left to go.

Nah, anon is right. Gore actually does have eyesight and his eyes are in the same place as Shaguru, but it's so bad that he might as well be blind anyway. He sees by feeling the virus he spreads, yes, but he can still see vague outlines or at least flashing colours.
For me, 15m is a good hunt. Usually done with a weapon and monster I am familiar with. 20 is the average, 25 is an off hunt, either I am using an unfamiliar weapon, or the monster is unfamiliar (or just a c**t I suck at) 30+ is really bad, tends to happen when fighting a monster for the first time, or with a really bad monster weapon match up, or both.

Yes. You can do 90% of your damage in the air with Kinsect Slash and only use ground combos as filler if you're out of stamina. Use a blunt kinsect and you turn the glaive into an aerial hammer with stuns.
I've legit stopped almost using aerial entirely due to assist, unless the homosexual monster is flying.
Chaining tetraseals into whirlwinds into refresh cloouds into tetraseal again is a lot of fun.
May as well use the unique playstyle if you're using IG anyway since the DPS is so low compared to everything else.

I went back to the old assist bug after using it for a while.

World's main hubs are the one thing I really miss in Rise. I know it's due to hardware limitations, but they felt much more alive. Kamura is just so fricking barren. Having the researchers hang out around the last monster you captured, the canteen bustling with other hunters, just other hunters in general hanging out, felt so much comfier and more immersive. Kamura feels like you're the only hunter in a village of a dozen people.
Honestly, I only miss Seliana due to how comfy it was. It was my go-to retreat from the Twins's singing.
I'd consider returning to Astera when they remake it to be as compact as Elgado.
Seliana is really one of the best villages they've ever done.
Oozing with soul, detail and pure comfy.
Astera was a little too spread out, it's true, but I still appreciated the atmosphere. Seliana was the GOAT hub, though. I also kind of miss the old food, dango are pretty boring. Is there a proper canteen in Sunbreak, or is it just more dango?

its also on actual dodges now too and not just empty rolls. to correct for this, the sharpness effect is stronger supposedly.
I was disappointed at first, but after playing with it, it's awesome. At least on SA, where you get tons of opportunities to dodge. The sharpness gain is pretty massive (you can completely refill the purple of the last boss weapons in about two, three evasions). There are some monsters that are bad matchups for it, so the skill is pretty useless then, but against some you'll never not have a full bar, like against Rajang. Overall I like it a lot. It's more skill-based now.
It also becomes a 2 point decoration, so you can eventually throw it in wherever you want.

Not that guy but because HH is the Healer of MH; it allows bad players to entirely ignore the whole combat aspect of gameplay. The difference between a shit HH and a great HH is whether they're balls deep in monster blood smashing their head to paste or not. Great HHs will use their songs and then get stuck in, shit ones will act like they're a healer in an MMO and sit at the backline. They're like bow/gun users but worse. Even more irritating when the monster swaps focus to them and everyone has to run after it for a solid 2 minutes before it loses interest.
Not anon, but as a shitter myself HH giving major buffs and having extremely fast walking while unsheathed was a huge reason I used to main it. That walking speed in general made positioning for head attacks easy as cake because even if you messed up the timing or got hit before an opening you just speed walked over there and got at least 1 hit in.
The attacks are simple enough that anyone can hit with them and very versatile with low + high smacks, while not being slow either so you're not in harm's way that often. The sole thing not noob friendly about Old HH was finding a time to play a song on later fights, but that wasn't exactly impossible either.

As a long term Gunlance user I'm enjoying myself. The Bullet Barrage is satisfying but too heavy an investment, but the Eruption Cannon swapped out for the Wyrmstake is awesome. I get to use Blast Dash into an overhead slam, full unload all five shells in one blow and then follow up with the eruption. Add to that I can Wyvern's Fire and hail cutter for an instant 50% off the recharge meter and I'm essentially zooming around every fight exploding monsters constantly. Hardest part is angling my Wyvern's Fire to not hit others to avoid acting like every LS user ever.
What shelling type is the best right now? They've never been able to properly balance gunlance so one of the shells has to be better than the others.

Probably long, BB spam is our strongest DPS and long gives it the highest damage per BB. Long is also very close to normal's fullburst damage, so its flexible outside of BB as well.

I've been ok with hyper speed in sunbreak so far. But what the frick is GL supposed to do against Rajang, feels like there is literally no openings longer than to do a basic poke or shell (not even enough time to do both) and nothing more.
Things like BB just tends to zip past him because the moronic aiming and collision detection with rajang. One example being I stopped at rajang and none of my BB connected as same frame I stopped he back hopped and beamed me in recovery for an instant cart. I just can't think of what I'm supposed to do that isn't turn it into a 30 minute fight of basic poke shelling, where I go back to camp every time he runs because chip has caused me to use healing items. Just feels like any answer to this fight is a losing one where I've felt so far elsewise there's something somewhere I could exploit until now.

What's different about him in MR?
Bear in mind this is partially fuelled by mild anger and very heavy annoyance, but the entire fight is mostly just heavy tracking on attacks and wide range fire breaths now it seems. A lot faster in general. Doesn't stay put much. He stays in the air a lot more because he's constantly spamming fire attacks/charges. Hitboxes are fricking atrocious on anything melee, but at least the fire attacks are very tight.
He just sucks and is no fun even when you're winning.
Use your string bug and follow him up into the sky. Feels good to knock him down.

He still flies a lot but low enough to constantly for you to attack his tail and most importantly, no more wind pressure like the old games so you can camp underneath without getting stunned

World Rathalos was just about bearable exclusively because flashlocking him was easier than ever. If you ever let him actually do anything he was an even bigger pain in the ass than in previous games.

you can use your kinsect to gather all the powder clouds you have placed around the area, and it will explode. the element/status applied to the clouds also effects it
How do I leave those? Get all 3 extracts and attack normally to make clouds then throw my Kinsect at them?

my hunts are like 12m average with GL.
I honestly kind of miss being bad at MonHun when every hunt was a true struggle. I used to use every tool in the game to beat Azure Rathalos quickly back in 3U for that goddamn mantle, and I got good at it too. But before I got good, he terrified me. Probably took me 25 minutes on average to hunt him, with a bunch of items used. I looked up videos and made sets for Deviljho because he was so scary. I didn't even want to think about a Diablos hunt.
Now they're just sort of annoying. Enjoy the journey, new hunters. One day you'll have gotten gud, and then there'll be nowhere left to go.

Usually done with a weapon and monster I am familiar with. 20 is the average, 25 is an off hunt, either I am using an unfamiliar weapon, or the monster is unfamiliar (or just a c**t I suck at) 30+ is really bad, tends to happen when fighting a monster for the first time, or with a really bad monster weapon match up, or both.

Yeah, once you've got your rarity 10 weapons you're pretty much done already in terms of farming shit. They made the new talismans complete shit and I'm not even joking literally the only way that they're better is that now you can get a single lvl 4 deco slot in the first slot instead of 3. That's the only difference between HR melding and MR melding.

You can block 99% of things in this game without taking significant chip, and now there are dango skills that make it drastically easier to recover any chip you do take
Very manageable. The wirebug counter negates chip damage. Malzeno's armor gives lifesteal when you hit a broken part.
