I beat the final boss of rise at lowest level possible by literally spamming switch moves. Took me around 25 minutes, but doable at the lowest level possible with switch axe.

As someone who is a World babby I can say the most disappointing thing to me was how small the zones were. Yeah they were pretty but not knowing anything about the series prior to playing it I really thought there would be more hunting in a monster hunter game and not just running around an arena. The idea of exploring a world and seeing the monsters living within it seems a whole lot more enjoyable.
It's not going to end.
In fact this is just more fuel for it until like a year or two after the game launches.
And then Itchynose will make a portable entry for the gen and then the cycle will repeat.
Literally the only thing I'm worried about Wilds is the aesthetic. I think World was fun (not my favorite) but aesthetically it is by far the weakest for me.

It doesn't look that much improved from World. That last shot at the end looked more like a bullshot while other parts looked closer to gameplay footage. This leads to think this is going to be open-world, and they couldn't push the graphics threshold as far without making these concessions.
Loved the aesthetics of World but hated the slowness of it. Much preferred the speed of Rise.
Hopefully the new game hits a good balance. Focus on a huge open world and monster riding gives me hope we'll have at least some good movement options.

What the frick happened to art direction? Had they not dropped a title, Wilds would be visually indistinguishable from the other dozen chink UE5 games shown off tonight. Why is the lighting so flat? Why are the materials horrible? Is it artists? Game engines? It looks worse than World even.
If it's on UE5 then it's literally the game engine and its lighting. Same reason why early 7th gen games looked like they were made out of wax and latex, UE3 was just built that way.

It literally does not resemble monster hunter whatsoever. Even "realistic" MH has always had a distinct geometric blockiness to its art direction with sharp highlights and overblown tonemapping. I want to see the credits for this game because I straight up do not believe the old teams made this.

They're getting rid of the field chest. No more free resupplies and equipment switching, you can still restock but in a more limited capacity (only one other weapon of your choice, and some extra items).

Makes sense if they are doing bigger zones.
the little details in world really helped sell it as a living ecosystem, if they can pull of the larger amounts of creatures and more diverse independent behaviors and animations, it'll look amazing

Preparation might be dead. Whetstones are already permanent as well as Bug Nets and Fishing Rods, so it seems the train may not stop running in that direction. Imagine what happens if it goes so far as weapon swapping on the field.
We're probably not going to be returning to camp very often if its open world, might be like the guiding lands and do a multiple hunts in between camp visits or long treks between settlements

Risebreak, there really isn't a lot of worthwhile monsters to fight in World at endgame and if you are going to start for scratch then its even worse due to the endless talk and cutscenes
I'm ready for open world, especially if we still have online multiplayer like before but on a much larger scale. Give us full clans/tribes too for the full grug vs. grug huntan experience to have 8v8 or larger fights while trying to hunt down giant monsters that eat houses and shit mountains on a daily basis, and I will consider it GotY 2025 already.

I've been playing monster hunter since the PSP and have enjoyed every one. I'm currently replaying gen ultimate. 90% chance I will love this one too. But seriously. Why are the graphics worse in this? It's not a deal breaker for me at all, it's just odd.
Honestly happy about the 2025 release. I didn't get far in Sunbreak so this lets me get back to that soon without feeling like it's pointless because a new game is months away.

the guidelands were fricking awful and turf wars feel artificial since is the same animations every time. I prefer if the monster fight usuing their actual moves in a more dynamic way.

All the did was replace loading screens with corridors in Worldborne, and in Risebreak you just zip around between arenas using your spiderman skills (or ride a dog). It didn't actually add anything engaging to the game's core concept.
An actual open world is either going to be World's poop scraping on steroids, or they'll need to pretty radically redesign how encounters work. Otherwise it'll be even more tedious travel between fight locations.
Open world is fricking shit and just means more travel time. Either you'll be able to quick travel to the relevant locations in which case it's superfluous or you have to play death stranding in-between hunting monsters in which case it gets in the way

well, i really didn't expect i would have this reaction, but i'm very underwhelmed.
visually, it seems to have taken the worst out of both rise and world. some very garish colors on the hunter and flying chocobo palamute that clash with the muddy environments. terrible clipping issues on the endemic life which was a problem rise had, but world did not. just in general the trailer looked low budget as frick.
without even getting into the open world angle, it's a pretty shoddy first impression.

As someone who is a World babby I can say the most disappointing thing to me was how small the zones were. Yeah they were pretty but not knowing anything about the series prior to playing it I really thought there would be more hunting in a monster hunter game and not just running around an arena. The idea of exploring a world and seeing the monsters living within it seems a whole lot more enjoyable.

Risebreak, there really isn't a lot of worthwhile monsters to fight in World at endgame and if you are going to start for scratch then its even worse due to the endless talk and cutscenes
I'm ready for open world, especially if we still have online multiplayer like before but on a much larger scale. Give us full clans/tribes too for the full grug vs. grug huntan experience to have 8v8 or larger fights while trying to hunt down giant monsters that eat houses and shit mountains on a daily basis, and I will consider it GotY 2025 already.

the guidelands were fricking awful and turf wars feel artificial since is the same animations every time. I prefer if the monster fight usuing their actual moves in a more dynamic way.

Because the game is fundamentally a game where you fight bosses in arenas, and G5's maps didn't do anything to add to that. All the did was replace loading screens with corridors in Worldborne, and in Risebreak you just zip around between arenas using your spiderman skills (or ride a dog). It didn't actually add anything engaging to the game's core concept.
An actual open world is either going to be World's poop scraping on steroids, or they'll need to pretty radically redesign how encounters work. Otherwise it'll be even more tedious travel between fight locations.
Open world is fricking shit and just means more travel time. Either you'll be able to quick travel to the relevant locations in which case it's superfluous or you have to play death stranding in-between hunting monsters in which case it gets in the way

visually, it seems to have taken the worst out of both rise and world. some very garish colors on the hunter and flying chocobo palamute that clash with the muddy environments. terrible clipping issues on the endemic life which was a problem rise had, but world did not. just in general the trailer looked low budget as frick.
without even getting into the open world angle, it's a pretty shoddy first impression.
