The only "people" getting filtered by the crab are morons who jumped onto the hype bandwagon a month ago, that crab can't even make me cart once, I used it to practice the new Switch skills.
I've been killing crabs since Freedom 2 and one thing I always see is people never think about how the crabs can move in four directions. None of these people can comprehend what they're supposed to do when the crab gang starts moving sideways or backwards, so they run in and get baited hard once the crab moves in the other direction.
I'm halfway through MR 3 and the only monsters I've carted to so far were Aurora Somnacanth and Blood Orange Bishaten and only then it was because I wasn't used to their moveset and I only carted once. The crabs really aren't that bad once you figure out their movements, though it does throw you off at first. Shogun's scissor claws that can hit you from anywhere are BS though.
Blame competitive smash players they wanted a competitive fighting game so they tried to copy shit like dead or alive and didn't bother to make a dedicated parry system

You don't have to use the counter moves if you don't want to. I refuse to use the new counter for m ySwitchaxe. Frick that. It's pretty fun with SnS though, but that's mainly because of the cool animation and sound.

there’s no need to be revisionist anon, valor LS spirit 1 did a shitload of damage, refunds its spirit cost, and valor sheathe exists. I think some aspects of new LS are busted, particularly Foresight and Sakura, but it’s a perfectly fine weapon on Sacred Sheathe. Basically valor counters but with delayed gratification via the color burning finisher
I'm being revisionist if iai slash actually costed anything or valor spirit 1 has a half second of i-frames like foreskin slash. You aren't fooling me.

Play normally until you see the triple extract dust appear, then position yourself so that you dash through the dust after you launch your bug

Let's just forget about the other counterS LS got. Valor LS at least still had to use the spirit combo for the biggest damage, no matter how busted the first attack is. You will almost never see any World or Rise speedrunner ever bother with the spirit combo. Nothing you say will make this not true.

Because they gave hunters the ability to use items on the run so they had to make monsters faster and now the monsters are so fast your average player can't out maneuver them so they just gave everyone counter and started designing the monsters around it properly
I think its the problem with spastic monster design which leaves very few windows to damage them so they had to give us tool to make opening during monster attack

Yes, phial hitboxes are bigger so you can actually hit monsters with them. In SB element is just as if not more viable than impact, and skill swap means you can have axe hopper and the shield skill both.
I just switched to elemental SnS from Raw. Seriously, is all you're doing with elemental just spamming X? I know shield attacks don't do elemental damage, so is spaming X all there is to it and when the monster is stunned do that fancy X+A+backwards+X-spam combo until you jump into the air and attack frome above with X? Seems boring. With raw you at least mixed up your attacks somewhat.
I tried farming him with randoms. The triple carts... oh the triple carts. They seem to absolutely melt to him once his shell gets destroyed and he goes hyper.
Question: what should I be doing to try and break the horn on the shell, any weapons in particular good for it? I guess load up on partbreaker will help, would a hammer be decent for it?

I think they should have buffed the damage of the drill, it's still good against really big monsters, but you are vulnerable for so long, plus Spiral does similar damage, gets a damage up buff, got good mobility, and you can move away if you are in immediately danger. And now that they buffed Anchor too, I find little use for it, sadly

Rustrazor is a "fun" fight and just a really well designed monster, but I wouldn't consider it particularly difficult. I'm a huge shitter at these games and it was one of the few EXs I actually solo'd.
Had to finally decide to change to bullet barrage for this.
My small monkey brain was enjoying the ground splitter into erupting canon combo because I learned to use it well from base rise and the numbers were going from 60 to 91 damage per shell with the buffs, which theoretically meant massive damidge with the stacked buffs right? but even playing well with it against shaggy I got 20 min, even if no carts.
I put on bullet barrage and play like shit and boom 15 min with 1 cart even.
I mean it is still fun but it feels so mechanically skill-less in comparison. You do put yourself in harm's way much more but you're less engaged in using your weapon and more in doing the super turbo heckin chonker attackerino.
Feels kind of like greatsword in that regard.

See I was wondering about the clear times in MR, because I recently picked up Dual Blades and I'm seeing 17-25 minutes for every solo hunt I've done so far (cleared the story final boss) and I'm wondering if I'm just doing something wrong here. Why the frick is the captcha even longer now
Ive been switching between GL and CB and my hunts tend to be around 17 minutes too, maybe less if im already familiar with the monsters moveset

It depends how hyper active the monster is, you can't attack it if it's moving around the arena constantly and you can only use low damage low commitment moves before getting your shit slapped
damage uptime is a lot lower, lots of gathering before the hunt, monsters have bloated hp. get used to spamming traps and shit to immobilize monsters and then forget about it when you reach afflicted monsters

Great boggi will be bigger than deviljho and he wil bog all the competition, he uses a special status effect that drains all your zenny, the guild refers to said effect as "doom pit"
Started playing MHR off steam share because im broke. i only killed the purple cat and anja so far. the game feels too easy just with the defender weapon only equipped. you have the wirebug to exploit and gameplay feels very fast which i like. im usually get my hunts done in 4-10m with SNS. please tell me there's a difficulty spike at somepoint.
The weapon itself has around twenty damage difference though, is it that big? i have no clue how i craft the armorset, but im just trying to rush to MR and get all the unlocks done.

I put 400 hours on pirated version of worldborne and was planning to buy rise cause I wanted to have an actual online experience, but apparently creamapi doesn't work now that the dlc have denuvo in it. I guess I'm waiting for a deep sale cause the game's too expensive without regional pricing 🙁

poison bombs can be made with poison mushrooms and bomb casing (stone and sap? ivy?) then use aiming button to actually throw it at them. I did not know you could throw a bunch of the small items with aim button for a long ass time and feel like a turbo moron in hindsight.
If you have a way to manage their sharpness, malzeno gear is pretty much best in slot for every melee weapon once you gain access to it. I’m not sure about endgame though, just got to him yesterday

There's a new skill to replace it with in Sunbreak, although it's equally useless. I just don't ever use it. Sunbreak also buffed the wyvernblast cool down effect on the wirebug jump attack, so now I'm wyvernblasting like every 20 seconds. I think it probably lowers my overall DPS, but boy is it satisfying as shit blasting flying homies out of the air.

I don't really remember what the other games gave you by default, but I think it was SnS in most games? The very first PS2 game gave you SnS at the beginning at least and I don't think they even provided other weapon types in your item box since I remember dropping the game after selling off my SnS to "upgrade" to a GS only to hate it

Tbh I don't fricking know how combos work. there's no training area where i could just test shit. MHW did it right by having the controls on the hud so i could use any weapon on the go. i only know how to slide jumo with sword and shield and charge attack whenever it lets me to.

That depends entirely on what you like about Monster Hunter. It feels very different from every other game in the series in every sense, from actual gameplay to even the setting/characters.
It's a good game that deserves credit for shaking up the formula and trying new things, some of which worked, but it's not a must play by any means.

I've been killing crabs since Freedom 2 and one thing I always see is people never think about how the crabs can move in four directions. None of these people can comprehend what they're supposed to do when the crab gang starts moving sideways or backwards, so they run in and get baited hard once the crab moves in the other direction.

I'm halfway through MR 3 and the only monsters I've carted to so far were Aurora Somnacanth and Blood Orange Bishaten and only then it was because I wasn't used to their moveset and I only carted once. The crabs really aren't that bad once you figure out their movements, though it does throw you off at first. Shogun's scissor claws that can hit you from anywhere are BS though.
I've seen 3 different people triple cart to khezu while farming it today alone
I go out of my way to carry at least one Khezu a day, to give back to the community. Glad to see he is still filtering shitters though.

there’s no need to be revisionist anon, valor LS spirit 1 did a shitload of damage, refunds its spirit cost, and valor sheathe exists. I think some aspects of new LS are busted, particularly Foresight and Sakura, but it’s a perfectly fine weapon on Sacred Sheathe. Basically valor counters but with delayed gratification via the color burning finisher

Yes, phial hitboxes are bigger so you can actually hit monsters with them. In SB element is just as if not more viable than impact, and skill swap means you can have axe hopper and the shield skill both.

I just switched to elemental SnS from Raw. Seriously, is all you're doing with elemental just spamming X? I know shield attacks don't do elemental damage, so is spaming X all there is to it and when the monster is stunned do that fancy X+A+backwards+X-spam combo until you jump into the air and attack frome above with X? Seems boring. With raw you at least mixed up your attacks somewhat.

Question: what should I be doing to try and break the horn on the shell, any weapons in particular good for it? I guess load up on partbreaker will help, would a hammer be decent for it?

I think they should have buffed the damage of the drill, it's still good against really big monsters, but you are vulnerable for so long, plus Spiral does similar damage, gets a damage up buff, got good mobility, and you can move away if you are in immediately danger. And now that they buffed Anchor too, I find little use for it, sadly
You get it early on, and is a really good Lance set, I used for SnS too, albeit it's not as useful there. You get Luchikas armourand layered at MR10. Just do the follower quests

Rustrazor is a "fun" fight and just a really well designed monster, but I wouldn't consider it particularly difficult. I'm a huge shitter at these games and it was one of the few EXs I actually solo'd.

Had to finally decide to change to bullet barrage for this.
My small monkey brain was enjoying the ground splitter into erupting canon combo because I learned to use it well from base rise and the numbers were going from 60 to 91 damage per shell with the buffs, which theoretically meant massive damidge with the stacked buffs right? but even playing well with it against shaggy I got 20 min, even if no carts.
I put on bullet barrage and play like shit and boom 15 min with 1 cart even.
I mean it is still fun but it feels so mechanically skill-less in comparison. You do put yourself in harm's way much more but you're less engaged in using your weapon and more in doing the super turbo heckin chonker attackerino.
Feels kind of like greatsword in that regard.

It depends how hyper active the monster is, you can't attack it if it's moving around the arena constantly and you can only use low damage low commitment moves before getting your shit slapped

Started playing MHR off steam share because im broke. i only killed the purple cat and anja so far. the game feels too easy just with the defender weapon only equipped. you have the wirebug to exploit and gameplay feels very fast which i like. im usually get my hunts done in 4-10m with SNS. please tell me there's a difficulty spike at somepoint.

The weapon itself has around twenty damage difference though, is it that big? i have no clue how i craft the armorset, but im just trying to rush to MR and get all the unlocks done.

I know shield attacks don't do elemental damage, so is spaming X all there is to it and when the monster is stunned do that fancy X+A+backwards+X-spam combo until you jump into the air and attack frome above with X? Sunbreak also buffed the wyvernblast cool down effect on the wirebug jump attack, so now I'm wyvernblasting like every 20 seconds. I think it probably lowers my overall DPS, but boy is it satisfying as shit blasting flying homies out of the air.

yea I played through base rise too to prep for sunbreak and it was fricking MISERABLE. i'd highly recommend disconnecting your pc from internet and just using a trainer to ohko the entire game. apparently it's pretty safe but i'm a huge pussy so I didn't do it

First time ever using evade extender and it makes me feel too powerful. SnS is pretty fun but man sometimes I roll way too far and I can't attack anymore
Evade extender is wildly powerful but like you said you need to learn to space with it. Soemtimes using rank1-2 is best.
Once you get used to EE it becomes impossible to play without it.

Best way I could think to make it work would be to take the "perfect timing for blocks" bit and swap it to "perfect timing for attacks".

world is exceptional, and I hope the next MH game is "world 2." it's different than rise and the traditional MH game, but it succeeded in so many areas and got so many new players into the franchise.

That depends entirely on what you like about Monster Hunter. It feels very different from every other game in the series in every sense, from actual gameplay to even the setting/characters.
It's a good game that deserves credit for shaking up the formula and trying new things, some of which worked, but it's not a must play by any means.

I did not say it was bad. I enjoyed it a loss less than the other MH games, but that's just a subjective opinion and it's still a fact that I enjoyed some of it.
I am simply saying that it's not a "disservice" to skip World/IB when it's potentially so vastly different than previous titles outside of the bare minimum gameplay similarities.

World's good, just a little different. Going from GU it feels faster and looser, but that's not really an issue.
