You will never get the spinoff you want because it makes Game Freak and mainline pokemon look bad.
They hate PMD because it tarnished Taijiri's vision by letting Pokemon talk even though they're supposed to only be pets. Detective Pikachu doesn't count because he's actually just Tim's dad.

At least it's good to know that I don't have to consider saving some money for Pokespinoffs.
It's impossible to say without knowing the budget, but for a Pokemon spin off I'd assume that's quite weak. Those numbers probably mean 150k to 200k lifetime (in Japan) which would be considered very successful for a low budget title (eg lower budget JRPGs).
At the same time I don't think they were probably expecting this to do magnitudes better than that either, I doubt they expected this to ship 1m+ in Japan or something.
Regardless this likely isn't enough to expect a sequel off sales alone, no.

The shadow pokemon that are unrelated to either Pokken or Colosseum/Gale of Darkness are the ones in GO, they are called "shadow pokemon" only in the west.

Detective Pikachu is such a weird case, and i also think its flop might lead to TPC giving up on spin-offs for good.
Weird because the game was clearly a port from the handheld era, yet they pushed it like it was a loved classic coming back (maybe because they made a live action out of it) it was so incredibly ugly.
They did a decent job with New Pokemon Snap (they even put the game in continuity with the original, an actual fan favorite) that i thought we were going to get even more older spin-offs like the Orre, Rangers or simply the Stadium games, but after this they will probably be done with spin-offs that aren't mobile shit or maybe Mystery Dungeon.

I would love this, but TPCi seems content on trying to bank on the Detective Pikachu franchise since the movie and first game did good (I wish it fricking failed).
