Just like some characters' purpose is to evoke anger from the viewer (King Jeoffrey from Game of Thrones for example, and they succeeded).
The difference could thus become the intention of the creator. Going with my earlier example, I do not think Amazon wanted the LotR show to evoke anger on purpose. So I'd say it's a failed project.

Piracy is easily automated these days so if I have the storage space and means why wouldn't I pirate? Costs me 40 bucks a year for a VPN to get way more content than any Netflix or CompanyPlus service would give me and with programs like Sonarr/Radarr I don't have to do shit other than type in the show or movie I want and let it go.
