I should also mention there are unique raid mobs and bosses, and there is new equipment on the server that can be looted off them or found in special server events (among some other easter eggs). So there is a lot of incentive to group up together and trade as well. If you want to be a merchant there is a trading system where you can set up shop in your home and place items for sale too which is quite fun. Also a new system for decorating your home and adding new assets in them that you wouldn't be able to normally. There are also guild wars if you like larger scale PvP.

Create a shortcut of "tes3mp.exe", right click on it, go to properties and add
"--connect=3.15.238.94:25565" to the end of the "Target" field

There was a server that was a far right server and caused a bunch of drama to TES3MP like 3 years ago. It's been permanently removed from the TES3MP server browser. It is in no way tied to the Nerevarine Prophecies server.
If you want a history lesson on that server, just google Malseph's Server. The server is no longer operational, as the owner (malseph) shut it down when his small cult of discord followers stopped playing.

You don't drop everything on death, instead you lose gold and get some mastery xp debt. You can bank gold in Vivec so you don't lose it all on death, and even buy your own storage vault there.
Alchemy potions don't have any value (unless you sell them to players of course) and is a little busted still, but there are maximum limits to certain stats now.

I've played maybe 15 minutes of morrowind before, and have purposely avoided spoilers and much info about the game outside of the combat system. Would it be a bad idea for this to be my first real time playing?
I think it's vanilla enough to not be too big an issue, plus the playerbase isn't adverse to helping out newbies.
The biggest changes from vanilla, off the top of my head:

Its less of an issue on the NP server, because players are not notified on when a cell reset happens. So they can't really learn the cell reset patterns when it comes to online cell resets.

I know the server has a ton of scrips and shit, anyone know how they handle merchants that restock items? Not like their entire inventory, but how some merchants refresh some items as soon as you close the window.
Also when does merchant gold refresh because the discord has a shitton of conflicting information.

Okay I might actually host a server on my compoopter. No guarantees on connection quality or even if it's playable, but I'm pretty much on the border of the US and Canada East Coast, for reference. What scripts would you guys want serverside? Keep in mind, this is going to be Morrowind, not some MMO shit like NP has.

That depends, what's available? You'd probably want something to make noob areas relatively safe, otherwise you'll just have god-tier late game characters flying around and nuking Seyda Neen with fireballs. I honestly have no idea if PVP is a thing in TES3MP or how it works, but I could see that being a bit of an issue.

server is pretty good. essentially a vanilla+ server, I was tired of running around alone in morrowind after doing most of the shit so doing it in multi instead has given me new motivation to play. there is a custom perk system too that makes endgame PVP a pinch more interesting than "whackwhackwhack". I'm loving it rly.
only bad things is sometimes you have to wait for a cell reset to get a quest done and for the solstheim quests where you have to wait 3 days you need to legit wait for like 2.25hrs IRL without a logout. besides that its good. the community is really good surprisingly, fairly low spergcount outside of the people who spam global chat all day and there's room for frickery. and if you ask questions and lady grey responds don't take him seriously he's resident admin bootlicker

How does dungeon/area repopulation work in MP version of MW is it still the standard 72 in game hours or is it faster?
It depends on the server, for mine it's one hour for interior cells and like four or six for exterior. Since resting and stuff doesn't actually pass time.
Global chat should be the default btw.
never played morrowind but I enjoyed oblivion quite a bit for what it is. Definitely interested in checking this out later but the biggest complaint I've heard about this game is the combat, are there any mods here that improve/update it? Is vanilla combat really that unbearable? Also what archetypes are most fun to play here? I've heard stuff like mages aren't super entertaining unless you do busted stuff with alchemy
Combat is a learning experience, but if you make a custom class and choose an armor type and a weapon type as major skills you'll be fine, hit chance is only really an issue very early game, it's more like a real time Pokemon fight than ARPG but that stops pretty quickly
a spell-sword is the stealth archer equivalent and they offer the best versatility for fun IMO, but just RP whatever and it'd be fun I've got a character on the NP server that is just a trader that buys low and sells high and I've been having a pretty good time with that lmao

also if you end up playing multiplayer most people are pretty helpful and will guide you in the right direction

TES3MP is still a work in progress, so it has some issues. That said, it's not half bad. Functional.
There's a few large servers. Each in different languages. The english one, Nerevarine Prophecies seems alright. I didn't really like the community enough to stick around, but it didn't seem particularly bad.

The only thing I've noticed is you can clip through the floor when entering an interior while going fast enough and sometimes the game struggles when traveling to Balmora on the silt strider.
community and all that seemed fine to me, can even opt-in for pvp. just gotta be ok with it being a 20 year old game. also the players will toss super expensive gear on the ground and leave unlooted guard corpses near the starting zone so if you want the vanilla experience stay away from all that stuff.
I like NP server, but if you consistently frick with quest important NPCs then you are banned.
I've only seen that happen if players continuously wipe out entire cities. Not sure how long ago or what instance or context you saw that happen, as most important and quest related NPCs have immortal buffs until you're on the quest to kill them.

Enchantments recharge by their own if yuo have high enchanting skills IIRC
They really did go out of their way to suck all the fun out of the game and make it more like skyrim in balancing decisions (AKA Knee cap everything slightly fun and decrease the overall fun of the game)

But that'd be more a "Goblin engineering" vs "Gnome Engineering" kind of setup if you get my drift.
Example: Mages Guild Enchanter Path (more charges on active enchants and slight decrease on total cost of all enchants so you can get a bit more out of any item) vs Telvanni Enchanter (Negative affects applied on self decrease your enchant point cost based the negative affect and power of it in relation to the positive affect on the equipment, similar to the boots of blinding speed or robe of the lich. Trade a negative for a positive.) Make both get a few more magical effects to add exclusively as enchantments that would otherwise be exclusive to items or npc spell effects.
