I can imagine that. Moss just feels a bit too much. Is Otachi in any of the other games? I feel like I saw that

Oatchi is only in Pikmin 4.

One or some of the others have a dog though right? Otachi feels really OP after a few upgrades. I am riding him 95% of the time

No Oarchi just looks like a bulborb that's probably why you're confused

Pikmin 4 is the only one with a dog as part of the gameplay, but maybe you're thinking of Olimar's dog Bulbie that he's mentioned alongside his wife and kids in past games?

There's controllable mini bulborbs with pikmin leafs in 2, but that's the closest thing

Thanks based explain anons. I'll play them after I finish 4. Is the 3DS one worth playing?

I've never played the 3DS one myself but I heard it's mediocre. You can still try it if you want but I don't think there's any harm in skipping it.

My 3DS is hacked so once I get through the other 3 I might try. Miamoto really loves these little fricks doesn't he?

He’s keeping the series alive hopefully this one is successful enough that once he retires there is motivation within Nintendo to continue with 5

And they've been making real-life pikmin since Pikmin 1.
Pikmin 4 is the only one with a dog as part of the gameplay, but maybe you're thinking of Olimar's dog Bulbie that he's mentioned alongside his wife and kids in past games?
How small would Bulbie be in game compared to Moss and Oatchi? Like pre growth spurt Oatchi size?
>Like pre growth spurt Oatchi size?
Yeah, or maybe even a little smaller than that. Olimar has a voyage log about his family again in 4, and unlike the one from the first game it actually shows their full bodies in the new art. Bulbie is about half the size of Olimar's son. It's log #65 if you wanna check.
>Just got to that giant Mushroom enemy
I don't think he kills my Pikmin..they just sort of dance around him? It took forever to kill him and my whistle doesn't stop them fricking dancing. What am I missing? I'm using the recommended Ice/Flying and whatever the frick White does apart from be poison proof.
I get that. What I am saying is most enemies have a way to defeat them or avoid their gimmick. It feels weird that this enemy doesn't so I was just checking. It's a fricking Pikmin sponge and isn''t fun.
In the first game, he used to be dangerous because he could convert your pikmin into mushroom zombies who would infight with your uninfected squad and kill each other. They did him dirty in this one.
Ahhh this is the only Pikmin game I have played and I have owned all Nintendo consoles/Handhelds. Even this I am playing on Yuzu. I've been pleasantly surprised.
>decide to beat Pikmin 1 for the first time because anons were talking about it >even though I owned it since it released, I never beat it because I was a pussy kid and never felt like revisiting it >found that it was nowhere near as stressful as I remembered, half the enemies just melt if you hold the C-stick toward them, the biggest adversary was the terrible pathfinding on the Pikmin
Very groovy game, I'm going to play 2 and then skip 3 and then play 4 probably
>and then skip 3
Why? Forget about the "uhhhh my favorite entry is better than YOUR favorite entry" that happens in these threads 90% of the time, and realize all of the games are worth experiencing if you like the franchise.
nta but even if 3 is my personal least favorite in the series it's still a great game. You need to play it at some point because it deserves your time if you enjoy the rest of the games.
Does it emulate decently? I figured it had touch or motion controls that would make it a pain outside of original hardware, but I don't have the cash to drop on it right now.
I've completed the Olimar story on YUZU and most of the post Olimar stuff. I am too lazy to switch to RYU but I would recommend playing it on that as I heard it's flawless there. On YUZU I need to restart the game after a cave or after like an hour of gameplay as it starts to chug.
>he didn't do the olimar story as soon as it unlocked and then immediately do the sage trials to get white and purple onions before even beginning hearth
The only Pikmin I ever played was a few hours of the first one as a rental in middle school, but I played the demo for 4 and ended up buying the game right away.
Fairies and glows look fine but the jagged edge ones are too much of a departure, I'm okay with a hard shell but they look like rocks with eyes rather than Pikmin with shells
Is it true that the Japanese call them Nose Pikmin, Ear Pikmin, and Gill Pikmin?
I mentioned this to my friend when I heard it somewhere and he took a minute and then said "Gill Pikmin sounds like a name"
Bulborbs are called Chappy in Japanese, Dwarf Bulborbs are Kochappy, Bulbmin are Koppachappy or コッパチャッピー meaning small leaf Chappy.
Glow Pikmin are instead called Light Pikmin.
Ice pikmin should've been fuzzy little guys instead of rock pikmin 2.
Glowies are standard ghosts I can't say they're too much but I don't like 'em.
reds>purples=whites>yellows>rocks=pinkos>ice+glows
How do I platinum the final dandori battle? Winged Pikmin fricking suck, the level layout is awful, and just to rub it in that butthole Louie starts with way more Pikmin than me
Grow pikmin, go for bonuses, steal his shit, use ochi to drop the bomb on his base when it comes up, use ochi to pick up the golden fruit when it lands.
It's unreal just how much more feasible the last few Dandori challenges and the Sage Leaf trials become when you get the Pluckaphone, it feels like you aren't platting them wthout TAS level input without it
They can jump, if there's something up a small ledge that normally only Oatchi can jump up, they can also jump up it. They can even jump while carrying things.
They're extra weak to water just like how ice are extra weak to fire
4's Onion is such an upgrade, frankly it's probably my favorite Onion of the series at least in design

It looks better than the inexplicable biomechanical shit that it had in 3 for sure. I still miss the classic design, that tribal pattern on it completes it for me.

They're cool but they really don't look organic either, the flowers are too plastic looking. I hear "Onion" I think food, some of those segments on the 4 Onion look pretty tasty
They have a chance to randomly pull out tiny glocks and cap the asses of enemies from a range. They shoot it sideways so your pikmin and captains can get friendly fire'd.
I really like their ability to do single tasks extremely efficiently, like digging up a giant treasure and taking it back to base while you worry about a bunch of other smaller shit.
These models remind me of fluffies.
>fluffies
Man, I didn't need to remember those.
I think those gave me autism
bloatchi
>I'm my own original character!
oatchi...easy on the scrummy bones....
Supposed to be two periods
nintendo needed a new plushie, the character
Would anyone buy it? I don't like his looks, he is unsettling.
it's fluffy and soft enough that kids will likely buy it
The plushie is already on the way.
We're talking about Moss, are you?
The bootleggers are on it
Ah makes sense. Couldn't imagine Nintendo making one. Do kids even play Pikmin? Feels a bit mature (game play wise)

And they've been making real-life pikmin since Pikmin 1.
imagine how powerful their offspring would be though

You literally can't cure dancing, you just kill whatever caused it to free them.
Alright but even with 100 pikmin it still took forever cause they just dance around like dick heads.
Collin literally tells you that you'll just have to defeat it to get the Pikmin to stop dancing. Or just get it dazed from damage.
I get that. What I am saying is most enemies have a way to defeat them or avoid their gimmick. It feels weird that this enemy doesn't so I was just checking. It's a fricking Pikmin sponge and isn''t fun.

Toxstool can be some shit though.

>1 level cave
>its boss can't even kill pikmin
:V
Frick off b***h. Get stoned.
>get purple onion
>no real need for it now since the game is over
I hope they do a NG+ update or something.
>he didn't do the olimar story as soon as it unlocked and then immediately do the sage trials to get white and purple onions before even beginning hearth
I thought a new campaign would mess with the flow before finishing the main one. I didn't know it would unlock white and purple onions.
I just farmed purples in a cave to be able to lift it. Time moves slow enough that it was easy enough to do.
What about that huge gold bar?
I think starting the game over with a complete onion could be pretty amusing, I was thinking the same thing.
this is literally me and my gf
Your gf seems cute. I wish you both the best.

Is the Pikmin'd game worth buying
t. never played a Peekman game before
3 and 4 have demos for you to try
Is time management and weird-looking things your kind of fun?
The only Pikmin I ever played was a few hours of the first one as a rental in middle school, but I played the demo for 4 and ended up buying the game right away.
How would you rank them? The post-2 ones look off to me, but that might be because I'm a Gamecube-only Pikmingay right now
bulbmin > glowies > rock > white > purple > blue > red > ice > yellow > flying
Fairies and glows look fine but the jagged edge ones are too much of a departure, I'm okay with a hard shell but they look like rocks with eyes rather than Pikmin with shells
Purple > Blue > Red > Ice > Wing > Yellow > White > Rock >>> Ghost
Is it true that the Japanese call them Nose Pikmin, Ear Pikmin, and Gill Pikmin?
I mentioned this to my friend when I heard it somewhere and he took a minute and then said "Gill Pikmin sounds like a name"
>The names Gill Pikmin and I'm here to fix your boiler
>where's the leak, ma'am?
>Right here
*Points to vegana*
Nope, Bulbmin and Glow Pikmin are afaik the only ones with different names in Japanese.
What are they called?
Bulborbs are called Chappy in Japanese, Dwarf Bulborbs are Kochappy, Bulbmin are Koppachappy or コッパチャッピー meaning small leaf Chappy.
Glow Pikmin are instead called Light Pikmin.
>Light Pikmin
We were robbed
i think hikari could easily be translated as glow as well
Ice pikmin should've been fuzzy little guys instead of rock pikmin 2.
Glowies are standard ghosts I can't say they're too much but I don't like 'em.
reds>purples=whites>yellows>rocks=pinkos>ice+glows
What kind of name is Don Bergman for a pikmin character?
Sounds more like the name of a weatherman
The dandori stages take on an entirely different form when you're trying to beat your own high score and not just doing the bare minimum to pass.
How do I platinum the final dandori battle? Winged Pikmin fricking suck, the level layout is awful, and just to rub it in that butthole Louie starts with way more Pikmin than me
Just frick up Louie at any opportunity and don't let him get any bonus finds.
Grow pikmin, go for bonuses, steal his shit, use ochi to drop the bomb on his base when it comes up, use ochi to pick up the golden fruit when it lands.
It's unreal just how much more feasible the last few Dandori challenges and the Sage Leaf trials become when you get the Pluckaphone, it feels like you aren't platting them wthout TAS level input without it
did this image just spoil me on the game
i havent even played 3 yet
No it's just a joke, this thing doesn't actually exist in Pikmin
thanks
pikmin memes hit different
What's the nigmin's special ability?
They stop working when massa is out of sight
can jump to get up ledges like oatchi can
however randomly will stop doing assigned tasks and just laze around
They can jump, if there's something up a small ledge that normally only Oatchi can jump up, they can also jump up it. They can even jump while carrying things.
They're extra weak to water just like how ice are extra weak to fire
hivemind

pride flag onion

I love them all
Ganker is the only place I hear of pikmin not being played by kids nonsense. for fricks sake they're in nintendo world japan.
Despite being OP the dogs were awesome additions.
I really like their ability to do single tasks extremely efficiently, like digging up a giant treasure and taking it back to base while you worry about a bunch of other smaller shit.
louie vore must exist
Ironically, the dogs were the only things Louie had no interest in eating.
What are you guys talking about Pikmin 4 being easy, this shit is absolutely brutal
Done.
There you have it folks, he's the king of Pikmin
how do you get a job making video game themed activity sheets for children?
We can't pet Oatchi, so this game cannot be perfect.
