I reinstalled Warband. Are there any vanilla friendly mods that add stuff to do outside of battles?

yeah its called bannerlord
he said add stuff, not remove stuff
>stuff to do outside of battles
dickplomacy
Has it ever been fun to play on foot?
I wanted to play a longbowman but horses just frick you up too easily without microing your army a ton. I tried playing a huscarl and staying in line makes it impossible to swing and getting two steps out of it means 5 enemies focus on you and just conga line at you so you play the boring backstep overhead swing dance game.
What am I doing wrong?
Why would you want to keep things close to vanilla? Vanilla Mount & Blade sucks. Just download the samurai mod and be done with it.
>Has it ever been fun to play on foot?
No. Playing mounted is basically required.
The samurai mod just plays like vanilla anyway, what's the difference?
I remember there was an overhaul mod that added freelancer, different troop trees (optional), tournament overhauls, and might have included diplomacy. I don't remember, but I enjoy the hell out of being a soldier. Losing a battle felt much less consequential since it was my Lords tactics not my own.
Just found it. It was Floris.
I would also recommend Viking Conquest. Horses are harder to come by so being on foot is more viable.
Yeah I like Freelancer a lot too. It was a big part of me enjoying 1257 AD as much as I did. I never really tried Floris or mods that suck closer to vanilla, or just throwing a few smaller mods on top of it, maybe it's time to. Always went with full conversions.
Come to think of it, I do remember enjoying archery a lot more in Gekokujo. Maybe because of the relative sameness of armor, you didn't really go from fighting people in turbans to people in full plate, so it was a lot more consistent.
I thought Vikangs was bad. Wasn't it story driven or too small or something?
You don't have to play the story mode in VC and you can start of in different stages so you don't have to start as a peasant everytime.
You can just play Vikangz in sandbox mode. It's raiderkino. It's balanced around foot combat, heavy infantry are the Swadian Knights of that mod. It also makes throwing weapons much better than native.
>Mount & Blade
>Can I play unmounted?
LOL LMAO
It's fun in Vikangz Conquest and certain mods.
I mean it can be done but it's such a pain in the ass you'll get tired of it after a while. Basically you have to use strategy a lot more rather than just charging and hoping for the best. Like using terrain to your advantage to slow down cav charges, and putting archers on hills.
Skill issue, my friend. Playing a longbow focused character and getting involved in mounted fights is a bad idea in the first place.
People often forget this game has basic strategy elements to it. Choosing your battles is just another mechanic.
Focus on your tactics and leadership skills, you should let your army do field battles if most of the enemy team has horses and you want to be a bowman.
Sieges is where most of foot combat becomes fun and training archery certainly pays well.
Just believe in the basic infantry > cavalry > ranged formula and although there are other factors that play a bigger role, like specific unit type and behaviour, and you'll see the game is pretty well developed on the tactical side of things.
After a while, I just ended up cranking down the difficulty, and going full SPESS MUHREEN.
Ripping and tearing is much more fun
Bannerlord made foot combat AI much better. You're squishier though.
you mean warband, right?
use Dickplomacy. It's "the porn mod" but actually all the fricking is optional and can be turned off entirely
and the mod has the most updated and stable combination of Diplomacy, Freelancer, and some other stuff
it's basically the definitive Vanilla+ modpack imo
just download prophesy of pendor and grind for 600 hours to get to endgame, you wont regret it
anyone know the name of the mod that allowed you to join as a soldier in a lords army? id sit back watch the lord zip around the map, then save the day during fights (unless the lord decided to attack the enemy kings 400 army single handedly).
freelancer? was that it?
>freelancer? was that it?
Yeah
maybe i should read the thread before asking questions.
Floris includes Freelancer and other things you might enjoy.
>floris
Bloatware. Just get Dickplomacy.
Oh pray do tell what dick does better than floris?
not have bloat like a gay new map and factions? OP literally asked for a vanilla experience
Are we still talking about the same mod? I don't remember Floris having a new map or new factions.
If I am wrong, prove it.
I looked at the mod page on nexus and it seems like they break it out into 4 versions, with a lite version that only has gameplay changes and a full version that includes the new map and factions and then some shit in-between if you want or something idk I didn't look to hard
You are a troll, liar, and a homosexual..
You are a disappointment.
bannerlord is better
If I'm not playing 1257 I'm playing With Fire and Sword.
Has anyone else tried this mod out yet?
For some reason the battles are acting fricky and stuttering whenever more than 30 men are on screen for me
>Are there any vanilla friendly mods that add stuff to do outside of battles?
Not meaningfully.
Warband being actually way better than bannerlord because mods is a complete meme and you've been had.
I'm thinking of playing viking conquest
I feel like I should try it at least once
Cool, how you gunna play?
