Is Bannerlord better than Warband yet?
It has banners now at least.
It will be once the successor to Gekokujo gets released.
Unless they add diplomacy and administration aspects to the game, it will always be dogshit. The combat becomes a slog after a while even though it's fun af
Man I can't fricking wait for this mod to come out. Together with Europe 1100, these 2 mods might just save Bonerlord from the ashes.
If they updated that damn ancient Rome mod it would be perfect.
>They've got the weather balloon armor
Frick yeah
You're talking about the cuirass, right?
He's talking about that baggy cloth on the back at 2:27. General's bodyguards in Shogun 2 Total War had it too.
I’ve been having a lot of fun with it, gave it up In beta but it’s fun now. Combat is better in nearly every way, and battles don’t play out the exact same every time like in warband. My main issue is that the map is just too big, in warband many lords were recognizable and you’d be happy to beat a lord that rekt you early game. I can’t remember a single lord that’s not a faction leader in banner lord, making it harder to immerse yourself. Going from war with the western empire to war with the northern empire right away does suck and can burn you out and be boring. But every other faction is fun to play and fight and is unique with a different play style.
Not since last i played which was maybe last year. I still hate the new inventory ui and skills from bannerlord. Warband is just everything streamlined and as many mods as you need. Bannerlord is good but does some things wrong and has almost no mods to fix it. Also still pissed about them lying about shit like "oh you can build your castle from the ground up" and "co op campaign"
>lying about shit like
>"co op campaign"
they literally never said they will make this.
the buildings and castles in villages was axed because it was too complicated for the players
No, too many cooks working on it with no vision.
The combat is amazing but the game does everything it can to keep you away from it.
Once some modder completely overhalls the overworld gameplay to make it not shit then it will absolutely mog warband. Until then its mostly a sidegrade
until major overhaul mods start coming out for it, no
Bannerlord vanilla is the same dull world similar to something like Dragon's Dogma which has excellent gameplay, but a world that lacks immersion and is just a bunch of video game npcs on a schedule. This is fine for a while since the gameplay and visuals are nice, but it's harder to feel like playing it long-term because the map is enormous. Warband gets dull really fast in the same way, but the smaller map helps you keep interest in the fact that end-game will actually change your experience. In Bannerlord it's just the same experience forever as endgame is ages away due to how much land you'd need to conquer, and by that point the boring world will have burned you out.
So then, we need mods to take care of the boring world issue, and Bannerlord has only less than half-finished overhaul mods available compared to Warband's fully finished overhauls.
He got that drip
This is not a strategy game. This is a first person melee combat game with some primitive squad control mechanics.
You will never be a woman. You are a mutt with a front hole filled with pus. Talking to you would be a waste even though trolling morons can be enjoyable.
>brings up trannies unprompted
obsessed
nice try, you don't even have butter for the feast
Silence wretch.
I'm surprised you outstrategized captcha given your halfwit understanding of the world
i am confused as to why bannerlord has not been tainted by the nexus coomer mods yet
I posted this on the other thread but these i drew because they're how i imagined a total armor overhaul with the matriarchy mod and a proper bodyslyde like cbbe for bannerlord
why mod a game that breaks mods everytime it chances the smallest thing? Bannerlord mod scene is almost dead for now.
It has tho?
>Average woman character generated in the bannerlord engine
Not even mods can fix it.
I've seen players latch onto them and call them waifu anyway, it never stopped them
would
why coomers are so cringe
There are skimpy armour mods. I used a custom troop tree mod to make an army of bimbos in chainmail, it's pretty fun seeing thots wreck each other. It's really a shame most of the game is underdeveloped, that was one of the downsides of warband too but Bannerlord is even more shallow.
>the game blundered so hard /mbg/ lasted through all 8 years of development but could not survive the actual released game
>now it's last chance at having a Ganker community is on a side troony board
Grim.
Yeah, it's rough. Maybe Taleworlds will pull something back eventually, or it'll get revitalized once they stop fricking with the engine and the overhauls can start coming out, but right now...
reminder
I still haven't beaten PooP
Just play as an archer and accept that armor is useless.
>armor is useless
What do you mean? You need armor to not get 1 shot and completely ignore shitters.
LONG MAY HE REIGN
bannerlord is actually good. 800+ hours in Warband.
>bannerlord is actually good
I agree actually.
I like Bannerlrod aesthetic time period (early to high medieval) way more than late medieval and renown system seems to be less harsh, so that alone makes it better for me.
I'm still bad at combat without auto block tho, besides maybe horse combat with spears.
What are the best parts?
Took them quite a time to get good
you can only play bannerlord native for so long though
give it some time
https://www.moddb.com/mods/realm-of-thrones/downloads/realm-of-thrones-51-for-bannerlord-129
Christ, I really hope they fix the character creator at some point. Every character looks like the same hideously ugly balkan-arabic mutt.
Nothing beats the character gen from warband
on crip on god he got drip he got rizz he got butter look at this man
ok reddittroony whatever you say reddittroony
I know you are but what am I?
ok reddittroonyy
I am hoping this will be released some time this decade
https://www.moddb.com/mods/dellarte-della-guerra
it really is one of the worst things about the game
Who the frick actually cares about Game of Thrones anymore? Real talk, the last season was so fricking shit that it totally killed the hype for most people I knew.
Something funny I always remember is that the last season was airing around the time that Mordhau came out. In every single server there were at least two or three l'ebin Jon Snow clones. But my the time the last episode aired not a single fricking one was left. I'm serious, they were ALL fricking gone lmao.
DD's creations can frick off. The world is very well made and AWOIAF is unironically the most impressive Warband mod ever just mechanics-wise. Free to jump right into it even as a complete newbie to the world.
Doesn't AWOIAF mod have show armor? It looks bad. If they used real armor like the books suggests, it would be better.
>The world is very well made
It has cool parts to it, the skin deep of the world is interesting. But George's detail sucks hard, particularly when time needs to progress, events occur etc, his simulation of the various elements is terrible resulting in unbelievable history when you dig into it and a dumb line of events.
story writing and worldbuilding are two different things, though.
And part of world building is simulating the world. How things change, how it's history plays out.
Being able to take a world and show how it changes in 5 years, 20 years, 100 years etc.
GRR is terrible at that.
I went to the animal shelter a few weeks ago and there were SO many huskies. There were more huskies than pit bulls!! This is at a big city shelter. I asked a neighbor who fosters dogs about it and they said, “Yeah ever since Game of Thrones ended people have been returning their huskies. They got them due to the hype of the show but they are not that easy of a dog to take care of so people give them away.” So yeah FRICK game of thrones.
Also Warband was my favorite game, I bought bannerlord but I haven’t played it?! Should I fire it up? Only answer in relation to the horse combat please. Killing people off the back of my horse was all I ever wanted to do.
>get husky because of GoT
>realize that they're actually smarter than you and will outdebate you using facts and logic
>tfw you lose an argument to this
Going to play Bannerlord today. Great game, love early to high medieval aesthetic, bored of plateshit, more fantasy games should emulate this time period.
Love those cheeky expressions.
I completely agree with you too. Warband is good too, but what really made it amazing were the mods. Same with Bannerlord, except the mods aren't quite there yet.
bannerlord is actually bad. 1500+ hours in Warband.
no he's right, bannerlord is actually good. 2200+ hours in Warband.
yeh he's wrong, bannerlord is bad. 2900+ hours in Warband.
You're all dipshits, bannerlord is just OK. $(your_playtime + 100) hours in Warband.
>About to try Perisno again
Will I enjoy it? Or will I quit once I remember that every single enemy unit is a space marine?

don't pretend that this board is good.
this board is the best board and you can frick right off to Ganker if you disagree.
>this board is the best board
that would be Ganker
I tried to play Banner Kings because some gays said it adds more depth but so far it looks like it just adds more grind.
>so far it looks like it just adds more grind.

Who will be next to migrate here from gacha infested board
>you can't have 4 wives as aserai/sarranid lord
There a link to any bootleg updates for Bannerlord mods that been abandoned?
Does anyone actually use the character creator? I just slap different facial hair on the default.
I tried hard a few times until I realized they all just look like fricking morons no matter what you do. Male, female, doesn't matter.
Bannerlord or Warband? In Bannerlord, you can make some pretty women if you good at it.
I made Sminem once and then never did another special character again
This is the main reason why I like these games.
I always make Revolver Ocelot. It's my MB tradition.
Tried a few times to make characters like Raiden, Nero, John Marston and Terry Crews in Bannerlord beta but they all ended up looking ugly as shit. But I did manage to make a character that looked like Gendry in the Ice and Fire mod for warband.
How's sieging compared to Warband? Good, a different kind of jank, or somehow worse?
Strangely, yes, yes, and yes. All at the same time.
Objectively better in every way that matters.
Warband is only good for the 1257 AD mod, otherwise Chadlord mogs it completely.
>inb4 muh feasts
AWOIAF would like to have a talk with you

im playing bannerkings
>1257 EE
>Warband
It's just too outdated at this point
Decided to try Bannerlord again after last playing it in beta in 2020. Any advice on what to do in the early game to get gold, level your clan up fast and/or get experience in the non-combat stats to gain experience for them? I remembered having problems levelling-up Charm, Steward, Scout, Tactics and Engineering. Also have they added an option to get generic exp like in Warband or is it still similar to Skyrim where you have to use the skill to level it up?
Steward and scout are easy. For steward keep a variety of food, for scout just run around. Both just level up as you play. Tactics you'll get as your dudes engage in battle, also from autoresolving but that's not advisable because the autoresolve sucks.
Yeah I remember the autoresolve sucking in the beta and am not surprised it still sucks now. As far as the early game goes what are the best ways to make money and get gear, and around what day should I aim to become a vassal for a kingdom or set-up my own one? I also remember when I tried doing either of these things that I or the faction I joined started getting my / our asses handed to use from all sides and I'd like to avoid a repeat of that if I can.
Either clearing camps or fighting in tournaments. Tournaments can be easy or hard depending on your own skills and how good you are at combat. Clearing camps just requires a core group of tier 3-4 troops. Fighting sea raiders on the field is also a good way to get early money but it requires knowing what your party can take. Once you have seed capital find companions to lead trade caravans for passive income. Also just pop into villages to see if they have any easy quests to complete.
At clan level1 you can join a kingdom as a mercenary. The key here is in knowing this is a temporary arrangement and the more disadvantaged a kingdom is compared to its enemies the more you are paid. You should probably aim to merc as soon as you can because it's free money to do what you're already doing. You can ditch whenever it's no longer advantageous for you. When you hit tier 2 and decide to vassal up you need a strong core army, and a good method of moneymaking to fall back on. I don't like to vassal up for the first year just because the economies and positions take about that long to stabilize so you can tell who is going to get trashed and if you ditch as a vassal they get really mad. You shouldn't depend on the king giving you fiefs so becoming a vassal is more of a networking period to get relations up so you can pull other lords to your side and influence the court to weaken the king if he doesn't give you your due.
I got up to Clan Rank 1 last night as a Vladian and merc’d myself out to Southern Empire (everyone seemed stalemated but they had a few people I needed to speak to for the main quest). Aside from myself, my smithing Aserai companion and 8 other low-tier units, SE said I’d get paid 162g per day for offensive actions taken against their enemies but it doesn’t show-up on the bottom under my money details and I’m still losing about 50g per day to pay for my men. Is there a reason why that would be happening or is that a bug?
Merc pay turns influence into money. When they say enemy they mean anyone hostile, so simple looters count, and as long as you keep doing things that give you influence you'll keep getting paid.
Charm is simple, I think you get it by increasing relations. Clear hideouts, do quests. I pretty much maxed it by letting captured lords walk away free.
You can level engineering by being part of a sieging army, even if you aren't leading it.
/mbg/ has fallen
Billions of gachagays must die.
Billions must loot.
Refugees! What do you offer in terms of tribute?
comfy thread
Also, any eta. on 1.3.0?
I always want to start a new playthrough but I always think, "oh the next patch is around the corner I'll wait"
Thats my fricking Problem too!! I Just want to Play the fricking Game!!
Taleworlds dieeeeee
i just don't see any reason to move on from warband tbh
Speaking of Warband, is it possible to mod in flavor dialogue lines for different countries? When I was trying to get into Warband with the Warhammer mod I was thrown off when the queen b***h of the Dork Elves (who was bald for some reason, lmao) spoke to me in a politely generic tone and thanked me for apprehending the villain stealing grain from the peasants. Is it even possible to, say, make it so that the Arabian lords will say that the villain will be thrown into the dungeon and added to the harem and for the Viking lords to say that the villain will be thrown into the dungeon and burned with the whole building? (Just examples of changing the generic dialogue I could think of)
Daily reminder that Warband is the only game that captures real sense of medieval warfare.
It does it by limiting player's information, e.g. you don't know how many vassals will show up when you call them or when they show up. And you are unable to prevent to from coming back home once you have captured a a castle. You don't even know your castle is under siege until it is too late.
Hello everyone
a-are you the butterlord i have heard so much about ?
I am a false prophet of Pendor.
what formula is that
Bu-T-Te-R
or something
Butyric acid
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butyric_acid
Is there any mods like brytenwalda but for boringlords?
I want to larp as briton liberator once again
>prophesy of pendor is uninstalled for some stupid reason
The 2~ year resumption of the empire playthrough is halted
That would be cool
I'm having a hard time getting into Bannerlord after 1,000+ in Warband/mods. I feel like it's too grindy and I don't like the new progression system too much. Any advice?
Prophesy of Pendor won't reinstall on steam, halp
So i found the workshop folder and copied and renamed all the mod folders to the Warband directory.
Wonderful, hopefully it works now.
Why are you downloading Warband mods from the Workshop and not Nexus, you retrograde
The steam workshop is the future, or so i heard.
>Start a new native/vanilla game.
>Game auto-updates
>Can't continue your save unless you revert to the previous version of the game through Steam Beta feature.
>Download a mod from Workshop.
>Works with the current version of your game and other mods.
>Mod auto-updates.
>Can't play your save anymore because the new mod version is incompatible with savefiles with the old version of the mod.
>Can't revert to old versions of the mod because Workshop doesn't have that feature.
>Download mods from Nexus.
>Mods don't automatically update, so you don't run the risk of your savefile getting bricked because a modder updated their mod.
>Can keep track of changelogs and features of mods to decide wether you want to update or not.
Use Nexus.
You can also use Mod Organizer 2 to manage your mods and see if they have updates in one single place.
>implying there will be any more updates for half this crap i have installed
Actual new mods i do actually download of Moddb
also Nexus doesnt have warband mods, does it?
>also Nexus doesnt have warband mods, does it?
Caravan Guards and their veteran counterparts are surprisingly capable.
What was that mod where you can kidnap noblewomen into your harem called again? Is there a bannerlord equivalent to that?
In Warband, it's Dickplomacy. You'll probably need several different mods to accomplish that in Bannerlord.
Why does Bannerlord need so many different mods to make things work? There were a few like the ‘get both perks’ and ‘better garrisons’ mods that require about 2 to 3 other mods to work correctly.
>get both perks
You don't need that because one of the two never work and there's always a best choice. But it's generally common for mods to be built on other mods and use them as dependencies.
>Why does Bannerlord need so many different mods to make things work? There were a few like the ‘get both perks’ and ‘better garrisons’ mods that require about 2 to 3 other mods to work correctly.
Because in Bannerlord mods are modular, every single one of them isn't a total overhaul of the game like in Warband, where you actually need to compile every single mod you want for a playthrough compiled together, or else they won't run together, precisely because mods aren't modular in Warband,
You can't use more than one mod in Warband at a time. That's why everything is bundled up together, even the mods that you do need to run other mods.
Meanwhile, in Bannerlord since mods multiple independent mods can be run at once you don't need to compile all of the mods dependencies into the mods that need them to run.
>mods are modular
whoa
Not always. After all. "Mods" stand for Modifications, not Modules.
Whoa.
I'm posting Cao Cao in honour of the poster who was posting in honour of the original Cao Cao poster until we get a good Romance of the three kingdoms mod.
Hao!
Cao Cao:
I have the mod you seek.
But to get it, you must stay a night in Lü Boshe's village without killing everyone there.
>3 kingdoms mod never
>John Xi Na never
god i would fricking kill for a 3k mod
真三國無雙
>original Cao Cao poster
Holy shit that's nostalgic.
What about that Dynasty Warriors mod?
Is there a mod that adds a dairy farm and butter churn?
HOLY SHIT is it just me or are Rhodoks the most fricking moron strong faction in the game at castle defense? Not just in their 1000 crossbows but also their default placement and the way their forts are structured (e.g. tiny ladder entrance with a 360 degree killzone for the xbowmen) This is fricking impossible even as marshal with 3 other lords with me (who are all useless btw each only has like 25 troops lmao)
I'm a Nord and I have conquered everyone almost single-handedly barely breaking a sweat no thanks to the moronic frickheads on my team but I saved the mountainfrickers for last because I had a feeling this was going to happen. Am I really going to have to bring 120 Huscarls to deal with this shit? I can't imagine it being possible any other way.
Tell me it's not just me...
Raise your tactics and send your troops to fight by themselves
Calculation doesn't take advantage like better castle into its results
>t. Rhodoks
stay out of rhodok soil
>stay out of rhodok soil
No... I don't think I will...
I already captured one of your filthy poop castles too. It costed me (Ragnar actually) about 200+ infantry but it was worth it and I'm working on the next one right as we speak. It's happening and there is nothing that you can do about it, kiddo. The mountains will belong to the Nords and every Rhodok peasant will be beheaded or sold to slavers like they deserve.
Vietnam?
I mean, it fits.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chocolate_Hills
Cao Cao, he say: "Don't YOLO into snipers in defensive fortifications, dipshit".
When I invaded the Rhodoks land the first barrier I encountered was the stench. Week old stewed cabbage amidst a cauldron of livestock excrement and semen. The alarm was raised multiple times in the dead of night to see gangs of Rhodoks attempting to fornicate with our draft animals and feed livestock. It was at that moment I understood from whence the aroma of semen originated.
Kinda want to start a game with as many companions as possible all with high training to just spam out great units but would probably get bored soon enough
There are two most likely reasons noone answered my question this time or when I tried posting it on /vg/:
1) it's moronic
2) I am right and Mount and Blade is a cool sandbox with rather pitiful modding options
Clearly, option 2 has to be the correct one.

I like TF2
Are there any good musket/pike and shot mods for Warband or Bannerlord that don't change the setting?
If not, what are your favorite gunpowder mods in general?
with fire and sword
once i wanted to transfer equipment and armours from it and rearm all local factions into pike and shoot, rhodox would be cossacks, swadiand poles, vaegirs moscovy, saranids turks, steppenigers tatars and nords swedes(or something)
I really like the concept and how the battles play out (wish the battle size was bigger though) but the campaign’s a slog given how there aren’t any tournaments to quickly boost your renown/money,
you gay
>gay purple man
That brings back memories.
Gekokujo mod for Bannerlord when
How is it so hard for Taleworlds to add custom color and heraldry to the pennants in lances and spears?
We have Banners, so It can be done.
I'm tired of seeing all of those nice troops with their long polearms, and yet with those hideously brown flags attached to them.
Like seriously, how can it be?
>almost complete the game (Warband) with only two cities and one castle left
>peace time feels like an eternity so I have to spend a gorillion years juggling my party's morale on a daily basis and having all my renown drain until the game can actually be played again
>can't do anything about this other than keep buying food every day and killing 420 trillion bandits in the meantime
what in the frick were they thinking?
All you have to do is stick your troops in a garrison.
but wont my companions defect?
turns out they won't so that makes this process a lot less tedious but I'm still going to have to wait forever for the last war to begin. I'm already approaching Year 2.
>over 700 days of nothing but waiting
>King Graveth, King of the Rhocucks is provoked over and over again but still won't declared war
Is my game broke? Wouldn't be the first time but I'm in way too far to quit now. This is getting ridiculous...
Just attack him yourself you autismo
>save game then load earlier save
>attack faction in peace time
>lose honor and they're pissed at me and only me
>home faction is still not at war
this one of those epic trolls that ive heard so much about?
What happened to the Bannerlord workshops? I bought the ones in the city I own but all 3 together only make about 88 gold per day.
Profitability heavily depends on type, economy, and resource availability. It might also be that you need to jump start their production by setting them up with base goods. Overall they're very fickle and I don't think worthwhile as long as you can keep running caravans.
>as you can keep running caravans
Given they get captured every odd day because the Southern Empire is always at war with someone, this doesn't seem like it'd help matters either.
passive income bad, you will be slaving for that lootcoin and you will like it
Is it normal for 90% of the named NPC's to be gone in the late game? There are only 10 of them left now in the entire world lol
i didn't expect /mbg/ to die if i were to go away.
guess i was wrong...
i'm sorry to have failed you, /mbg/.
but the fricker hiro bricked apps phoneposting so i cannot keep making threads with the aweful mobile browser interface.
again, i'm sorry...
Don't feel too bad, anon. It's difficult to keep almost any non-gacha general going on /vg/ unless it's a big series like TES or an entire subgenre like /egg/.
Haven't touched bannerlord since the first month it released, been feeling like a play through. Is there a recommended mod list?
>Our general keeps dying
Like your ip?
I am trying to enjoy butterlord but the professional english voice acting for in battle yells, moans, taunts, grunts, cries combined with the complex music is making me -ACK
Making your own trade route seems to not be effective in bannerlord which is disappointing. I understand prices change but its like you cant make the same trade to the same city twice in the same year
Haven't played in a while, but IIRC you could do routes with the caveat that you'd occasionally need to do a leg elsewhere to let the route rest for a season. Did something change with econ in the last year or so?
Not sure, its been a while since i played. I like that you get skills for making money but everything else about trading seems worse than warband
I never did trading in Warband, but I suppose I can say that Bannerlord actually made me want to try it. It's as half-baked and ill-thought-out as everything else in the damn game, but still.
I usually played mods where lords were terrifying to fight so trading was easier to get started. Trading in warband was simplified, the menu was easy clear and easy to manage. The downside was everything was predictable and rarely changed in prices for areas by a great amount.
It was weird opening /vg/ after so long and not finding /mbg/. Sup.
Mount & Blade lost. The only hope it would have is merging into another general.
I guess... /mbg/ was for many years the only general I visited in /vg/, and I have a lot of Warband memories and good banter that just take me back, so even though I quit not long after Bannerlrod was released due to Gankerermin influx and some other personal things going on, it was still a special place for me. I guess the first years of Bannerlord, as well as the sheer amount of popular gachas, killed it slowly but surely. Still, for me it was like visiting some place I used to play as a kid, only to find out it's gone. Ah well.
Kind of know what you mean, I miss Killing Floor General.
borcha is the most based companion because both his dislikers are women
Don't suppose anyone can tell me what I'm doing wrong here? Am at Day 450 with 2 caravans, 2 cities with 5 villages between them, 2 workshops (1 brewery and 1 silversmith in Vorstrum), but I'm losing a shit load of money.
You probably have lots of high tier troops, after tier 3 their cost jumps up.
Not that what you're showing is a real problem, unless you already have empty pockets. The real way of getting rich is waging wars. Fight big battles, maybe put a point or two in roguery for more loot to sell.
I'm no expert by any means and I became obscenely wealthy mainly by consistently joining or leading my faction's armies in my first full playthrough. Sure, I invested in my towns and such, but their income was dwarfed by simply selling loot. I didn't even touch the supposedly broken blacksmithing either.
Yep, that would explain it. Main army of 179 comprises of Imperial Palatine Archers and Elite Cataphracts, with spares of those units being kept in the Vorstrum garrison. Any recommendations on what units I should garrison my cities with instead?
I don't remember my specific strategy, though using top tier troops, especially cavalry, feels unnecessary to me. Don't elite cataphracts and other tier 6 troops cost over a third more than tier 5? Unless we're talking about a border town that's in immediate danger I'll dump mid-tier guys, rescued militia, conscripted bandits and the like into the garrison. If besieged, their goal is to stay alive until I can relieve them. I get the idea of having garrisoned army reserves, but if you don't think you can afford them, there is no point.
It's probably very different if you're going independent and have no allied forces to help out and push the border away from your towns, I haven't tried it yet. I imagine you'd need a good amount of spare money to burn.
Somewhat recovered my economy in the Southern Empire by finally being able to win enough battles and get enough perks so that captured lords cannot escape my army and frick over my caravans which in-turn don’t frick over my 9 breweries in Vorstrum, Onira and Poros (latter two I also own now). Main army of 201 is still high-tier Cataphracts, Palatine Archers and Legionnaires but almost everything else in Garrisons are about mid to low tier units and sits around 300 per city (plus militia for 450 to 500 total). That seems to be enough to scare away all but the largest armies that have +1000 units in them. Will have to make a decision soon on who to give the dragon banner to though.
install a mod to raise workshop income
your towns probably have low prosperity, raise it
you should be earning most of your money by looting everything after a battle then selling it anyway
mbg deserved to die, no new warband stuff and bannerlord doesn't have anything to talk about
1.2.9 added nothing and the game now crashes when you leave the village upon confronting the couple during the villager's daughter is missing quest
Oh thank goodness, I thought that was just me with some bad game files that couldn't be fixed.
>start a new playthrough after a long break
>a few cities have rebelled already
Is this normal? Has the food supply issue been fixed?
i have not played bannerlord since october 2021
have they changed the skill system at all since then? I have a few hundred hours in it but i really dont like how i always felt pressured to go endurance/smithing in all my builds.
I have 1200 hours in warband and im feeling like mountainblading now to drown my sorrows and im honestly feeling more like playing warband since at least its straightforward and the skill system makes sense to me, i can go a support build or a combat build and not have to worry about leveling up skills whos cap ive raised from stats in order to make my character optimal. I just put the points into things i want and accumulate exp.
Smithing is strictly a cheese powerleveling tactic. You don't ever have to touch it if you don't want to. Most everything just levels as you play. Just pick what kind of character you want to build and you'll have more fun than going full min/max.
you dont understand, i am forced to min/max, every game with a skill tree i have to find something optimal to play before i can turn my nonoptimization anxiety off and actually aproach the game. I can optimize my build in warband and still play the game itself how ever i want, but in bannerlord the skill system is more integrated into the gameplay itself
So enough of the skills just level as you play that you don't need to worry much. No you can't entirely ignore endurance and still be "optimal" just because both riding and atheletics are tied to it, but you don't need to max it out either just to get the final perk.
Do try builds that intentionally limit yourself though. The game is not hard. And role play based on a character backstory is the best way to have fun.
>the game requires me to ignore its mechanics to have fun
Literally didn't say that.
https://www.nexusmods.com/mountandblade2bannerlord/mods/6246
this shits out plenty of exp points, lets you level skills significantly faster and lets you actually change your playstyle on the fly without feeling too cheesy
i find bannerlord just grindy in a not fun way without it
I refuse to believe fricking mount and blade generals died on vg
does this forever confirm that warband is the superior game then?
obviously
Both games have their pros and cons but I prefer the levelling system in Warband compared to Bannerlord’s Skyrim-esque levelling system of ‘to level-up a skill you have to use it’ and the DnD-lite stats.
I welcome more none-paradox shit but /vg/ gets more bloated each years and its difficult for games without adequate coomerbait to compete. Not surprised they ended up here.
yes, waiting for bannerlord was more fun than playing bannerlord
Whats odd is i enjoy tournaments in bannerlord a lot more than warband. I even like battles in bannerlord more. Bannerlord just shits the overworld gameplay up.
Also the warband factions have more character
like 5 more years and maybe we will have some good total conversion mods to play
>yes, waiting for bannerlord was more fun than playing bannerlord
the biggest sin of bannerlord is not that is bad(I mean its worse than bad its not fun to play(for me)) but that its killed warband modding at the time when it was announced
>bannerlord soon so not gonna work on warband mods because bannerlord will be better and great for modding
>8 years later
we could get much more mods and more polished one we actually have if not for that
I love battles and sieges and tournaments in Bannerlord. But the campaign map is really bad, and the faction rosters are terrible and you die instantly no matter how powerful and expensive your armor is. Even in vanilla original Mount & Blade, I loved crossing the entire map and watching the various lords and bandits go by. Bannerlord is just too crammed and everything happens too fast.
Characters actually used to look decent to downright beautiful on "release" (early access lol), but then they did something and they all ended up as brick headed freaks, something they never fixed.
While it may not seem like an important issue, the way the characters look actually do affect my enjoyment of the game, because immersion and atmosphere are such important factors to me in games like these. But even beyond that, Bannerlord seems to lack any kind of personality. It's like an actual sandbox, filled with nothing but sand. Maybe it's because it's not doing anything that Warband didn't already do, and after so many playthroughs of that game, there's no sense of adventure or exploration to Bannerlord, because I've seen it all before. But even beyond that, the game world just feels devoid of life and personality.
I play both games. As other anon says, they both have their pros and cons.
There's literally a hundred gacha games on there, lmao
I don't find Warband better, I like Bannerlord more.
As for /vg/, it's very fast, it's the fastest board on the Ganker in terms of posts per minute. Not threads per hour or whatever, because they increased the thread number for /vg/, but still, it's a fast board and frankly you are better of here than there.
You ever just want to vent on how the game could have been and genuinely think it could have gone that direction in your mind?
Anons I come seeking ancient lore in desperation
Does anyone have a mod that includes prettier girl faces for TLD?
I want to play it but I can't with those ugly fricking faces
so i reinstalled warband after a couple years. This is the same computer, i have the same mouse and keyboard, but now after the first battle my overmap is zoomed all the way out and it doesnt let me zoom in. scroll wheel does not zoom, keyboard shortcuts do not zoom, moving mouse to edge of screen does not zoom.
These all work prior to the first battle, but not after. I must restart the game to make it work.
Does anyone have any ideas what might cause this?
fug
I think I have similar issue few years ago, but I have no memory of how I fixed it
I think it was something banal but hell I can't remember it
loaded up viking conquest which used to be a favourite but i just couldnt get into it, everything felt like shit after playing bannerlord, bannerlord is certainly the superior game it just needs a bit more modding to expand and slow down the game a little bit i think, maybe i will play some bannerlord this afternoon after getting drunk last weekend i cant remember where i was
>newbies don't know about zendar
>serve as soldier mod dramatically overhauls early game and is fun
>its horiffically unstable and you can just he hardlocked if on ironman
>random CTDs if you do anything
Frick. I want to play but this mod is too unstable. Not as fun without.
man is TLD as barren as it seems or is there something fun to do?
Any good conversion mods yet? I have the Roman one downloaded but haven't checked it out yet. I actually really liked vanilla when it came out. Shame it's so dead.
Aut Caesar Aut Nihil?
Nah talking about Bannerlord. I've already had my way with every Warband mod that interested me.
I haven't played a fricking minute of bannerlord since release
tell me some GOOD and COMPLETE mods
Playing my first bannerlord campaign in a long while. Its more fun than warband is for me right now but thats more because ive have less than 50 hours in it and 1500 in warband. Sieges are moronic but fun and i feel like i can actually use the send troops button. Workshops just suck plain and simple. Finding the right companion is annoying as frick. At least the map looks nice and the combat feels good
Holy shit perisno is crash happy
I played TLD for hours without a single trouble. Perisno explodes if you so much as look at it wrong
can yous share a checklist of things you do/avoid from start to finish in bannerlord? I need examples to give me a better vision of what I wasn't to do, so far I've made 5 characters with various skill priorities and I keep quitting when I get a fief or 3.
part of the problem is that I'm having trouble coping with the inability to just do everything and maximize everything, savescumming a shitton. I've started another playthrough with the goal of minimizing scumming.
I'm playing vanilla, have you found any QoL mods that:
>optimize certain gameplay areas, like better companion parties or trading
>make combat or arenas more interesting (granted I'm playing on easy difficulty)
>tweak or add equipment?
Any tips on not getting fricked in a claimant run? Playing diplomacy litdum btw
Does bannerlord have spastic naked two hander+thrown multiplayer deathmatches like in warband?
>tfw autistically manage which prisoners get sent to which dungeons for roleplay reasons
You're just setting up Alcatraz in Faircastle, very cool
faircastle is the most remote, on an island so i put the leaders there. feastfires is at the tip of a peninsula so the knights go there. kayce is a town, so all the random criminals get thrown in there. and casterly rock is my main castle and has the best defences, so the POWs go there
>Mace Tyrell
?t=118
the matriarchs of the tyrells should lead their war parties. the men are all soft and queer, i almost feel bad destroying their prosperous kingdom. i certainly dont derive the same satisfaction i got from killing lannisters.
im such a wealthy man that i still turn a tidy profit while at war paying the wages of dozens of knights in the field and a thousand infantry in garrisons, with my most profitable enterprises which are in the reach under sequestration. i have an enterprise in every essosi city and the wealthiest towns of westeros. the creator of ACOK nerved the interest rate of the iron bank but i scoffed at the 18,000 coin bride price i had to pay to associate myself with the Mallisters as thats my interest payment on my 0.7M i have banked in braavos. when i set out on my own im going to cause a civil war in the riverlands which is the largest faction and control the westerlands, riverlands and crownlands including king's landing when im done with the tullys
>potato graphics to get in more troops
dont we have a new game that solves this issue
im just playing on a laptop right now because im NEET and my desktop died and i hate bannerlord
How do you get started in ACOK?
dont actually try to play the game like you would native or any other module, the creator is an autist. there are some stupid lost and found quests hidden in locations around ruins dotted around westeros that you can do that grant you a bunch of XP and cash, and if you upgrade power strike and ironflesh you can use your money from these hidden chests to buy decent armor or you can try to get armor by killing raiders that spawn around fairmarket and then betting on yourself in tournaments and grinding that. midgame your income will come from enterprises, and then once you become a vassal, the rents and tariffs from town will become your primary income. if you have can put money aside, put it in the braavos bank it has a 2.5% interest rate every 2 weeks
forgot you can also cheese tournaments in this mod by getting like 8 companions or something, and then stripping them naked. they will spawn in the tournament and not lords
Whats your graphic settings and troop count?
1080p everything potato except 100% textures and the battle size is 600
>battle size is 600
How'd you make that work? I have played it on 3 rigs over the years and it always starts stuttering at 300, whether it was my Windows 7 machine 13 years ago or my newer 2021 rig. I read it was a CPU thing due to the game engine being outdated
How are you able to get that many good soldiers in that mod?
I make a good army and once a couple die I can never replace the lost soldiers quick enough.
i forget his name but the guy i invested in as my engineer also has high trainer, but getting enough XP for high quality troops is from fighting lords of other factions. i can get like 70 recruits in one go due to having 100 relations with my villages due to low taxes
it stutters
also im confused, the best soldiers in those garrisons are men-at-arms and longbowmen which are T2 troops, it takes almost no XP to upgrade levys once
Are valyrian steel swords worth it for the price you pay?
have not used that, i use a masterwork greatsword for hacking and reach and a metal shield and masterwork arming sword + lance. the lance is nice for charging the lord and immediately killing him so he doesnt cut down a dozen of your guys with his insane stats, the balance in this game is skewed towards "heroic" characters absolutely slaughtering lower level chars
I just use a exquisite short bow that has like 41c damage and a driftwood club to take prisoners. I cut through bands of 50-80 heavily armored knights and infantry like nothing.
You just have to be quick as frick and not take risks as a couple hits and you are out especially since I only wear light armour to not tank my stats.
Or just spam archers.
is there a submod to make the bows less OP, there is no reality in which plate armoured knights get cut down by arrows like they are nothing.
>t. frog
ask any historian what happened and he will tell you, the longbow men killed the horses and when the horses fell in the mud the knights got stuck which enabled the men at arms of the english to strike at the weakpoints of the disabled knights stuck under horses and mud.
1257 AD even though it predates plate armor. In he heaviest armor (coat of plates, iirc), low and mid tier bows won't hurt you, maybe stun you at most. High tier bows might still cause damage, but not much. You'd have to take more than a dozen arrows to actually go down.
One of the few mods that I feel does armor well.
im sad
What's the best vanilla plus mod? Bannerpage? Dickplomacy Reloaded?
I've been playing prophesy of pendor for 3 hours and it's basically vanilla but with different armor and some new raider types. Why do so many people like it, what am I missing?
Unique spawns, custom knighthood order, qualis gems, etc.
it has so much content compared to other mods, the wandering armies, the quests, its fun.
So many mods I see that have a large map but there is just nothing to do in it besides the usual fighting, add quests, lore, cool special characters, cool weapons you can only obtain through quests.
What's fun about TLD?
It's like Warband but with less things, and they don't include nearly enough LOTR shit to make it interesting.
Like, Elves have 4 armor sets at most.
who cares about elves? It's fun to build a gondor fiefdom army and smash it against a gigantic horde of orcs and easterlings
Gondorians were gay as shit in the books and movies, soz bro LOTR is elf fantasy.
based
lotr is all about dem midgets and bow aryans
(ok rohan and dale are sort of cool but at the end of the day theyre just poomans)
Yeah I mean Rohan is pretty cool
Peter Jackson did Gondorians really fricking dirty. I hate it when in movies the battle scenes are a complete slaughter from one side or the other, it's stupid and hard to believe
And the ONLY "man" that is actually useful is actually not a man at all heh he's the blood of the old kings and not LESSER men, but I suppose that's Tolkien's fault for being an old british racist
thats the thing with fantasy genre
theres always someone better than you
I'm sorry man but orcs in the movies are like 4 feet tall
If Gondorians are supposed to be 6'0 megachads I don't see how they got their asses kicked so easily
And don't come up with the "boohoo they were demoralized" because it's a fricking 4 feet tall mongolian looking little shit and you've got a 10 feet long spear
they were outnumbered and probably never even fought these devilish little fellas before
not hard to imagine is it
like im sure there are some good, well drilled city guards but some of them probably just wear that fancy armour for show and status more than anything
Probably, then again we are shown gondorians fighting in Osgiliath as a flashback so they can't ALL be that green
most of gondor army was local militias, kind of fyrd/national guard not a hardened veterans
>how they got their asses kicked so easily
That only happens in the movies,in the books they absolutely slaughter the orcs .They held the outer ring of Minas Tirith until the Rohirim arrive and then sally out to help them. It's the Gondorians that actually kill the Mûmakil in the books as well. The only real resistance after Aragorn arrives are the Southron and Easterlings who often fought to the death.
>4 feet tall
The orcs win battles by outnumbering their enemies.
>Last of all Húrin stood alone. Then he cast aside his shield, and wielded an axe two-handed; and it is sung that the axe smoked in the black blood of the troll-guard of Gothmog until it withered, and each time that he slew Húrin cried: ‘Aurë entuluva! Day shall come again!’ Seventy times he uttered that cry, but they took him at last alive, by the command of Morgoth, for the Orcs grappled him with their hands, which clung to him stil through he hewed off their arms; and ever their numbered were renewed, until at least he fell buried beneath them. Then Gothmog bound him and dragged him to Angband with mockery.
>all that orc slander
Reminder that in the books and the animated movie it was an orc chieftain who dabbed on both Aragorn AND Boromir just to lose his weapon by throwing it and scoring a direct hit on Mr. Frodo who was protected by the mythril chainmail. (Did he smell the Ring or something?) Please tell me again how bad the orcs are when one is enough to go toe-to-toe with the Strongest Gondorian and a master pathfinder with a heroic lineage.
Obviously, we couldn't have a cool orc in the movie and instead he was replaced a fricking troll.
I distinctly remember that all Saruon forces were routed from Minas Tirith except for Easterlings which had to be cut down to the last man.
>dabbed on
>But even as the orc flung down the truncheon and swept out his scimitar, Andúril came down upon his helm. There was a flash like flame and the helm burst asunder. The orc fell with cloven head. His followers fled howling, as Boromir and Aragorn sprang at them.
Yeah, that came after both Aragorn and Boromir failed to stop him from spearing Frodo and Sam shortened his spear to a stick.
TLD is a buggy shit mod that inevitably breaks down after 500 days or so as your allies become completely inept and fail to prevent the other side from retaking the momentum. It's highly rated by casuals that played it for 2 hours and said WOW JUST LIKE MY HECKIN' MOVIES before never playing it again.
>What's fun about TLD?
The setting and war mechanics but like
said it'll break and the fun will end sooner or later. Other mods are better regardless (like Gekokujo despite it also barely having any available equipment)
Divide and Conquer is the only "game" I've played where you can take a few Dol Amroth knights and a handful of Gondor soldiers and kill thousands of orcs.
The minimalism and focus one one big war. You can really notice the impact you are having even just ambushing patrols.
>hey so how should we balance tournaments in our mod where all lords do 500 damage per swing and have infinite HP?
>we shouldn't lol
all modders deserve death
Look, you made a thread and it lasted a day and no one had to babysit it
pretty cool isn't it?
Yeah we should honestly just stay on /vst/ from now on. It's a comfy home for us all.
Welp, finally did it
my fifth total game completion, and my very first in Viking Conquest/Brytenwalda, as lord/permamarshal of East Engle
what an experience-- although VC/Boringlanda adds a ton of annoying ass features (not being able to stockpile troops, defeating kingdoms rebelling and taking half your land), it also adds some very good ones (enemies actually surrendering during sieges, all the siegecraft fun) which actually make the late game not too horrible-- once I got the ball rolling on actually having a decently sized army, fleet, and a few streams of good income, the majority of the conquests were quite easy-- quick surrendering sieges usually came with a lot of free prisoners, which was a nice way to siege bigger and bigger targets. I really think that VC is probably the best Warband flavour-- default economy is makes the early and early-mid game moronicly punishing if you aren't raidmaxxing, winetrading and cheesing things with good brewery buying, but the since the difficulty is configurable its really not too bad. I wish more mods used VC as a base, especially since they have ships pretty well figured out.
Maybe I'll come back to this file later and start a rebellion, but for now, all of the north is peacefully unified under Angle control
Next up, probably gonna do another WFAS; I've already done a Polish and Ukrainian total conquest, either Swedes or Moscow next
>WFAS
Any good mods for it?
No
they're either just battlesize extenders, or its a Floris type bloat but with the creator's ethnicity's faction being heavily biased for balance
there was one where you hunt demons, and another which adds 18th century units, but the latter falls into the bloat category, and the former is unstable as frick
I will make a decent one someday
Theres a good mod made by ivanhoe in Moddb
quick, high elves or dark elves for a warsword conquest run
Neither act or talk like high or dark elves would so pick whichever.
Banner lord good game?
it's everything warband was
But butter?
no, take that as you will
(i only played at release and never again)
Why do people like Gekokujo?
Because:
>Best sieges in any Warband mod
>No shield meta that still offers a variety of playstyles
>Doesn't have the bloat common in a lot of other mods
>Good ingame configuration options
>Still offers the general freedom of Warband
>Weeb
You can bypass the shitty morale system by just constantly bribing your troops
Warband coomer here. Dickplomacy mod has a bug that makes all the female characters invincible such as female PC and sword sister. Does anyone know a fix? I am on mac and downloaded mod from LL.
when the frick will the LOTR mod for bannerlord come out
TLD fricking sucks
Never ever judging by the dev team of that mod
They had page for it like 4 years before bannerlord got released, till this day they have released 0 playable content and main dev behind the project keeps dumping autism lore vids
what a fricking waste of time
it's been like 3 years why are there 0 wothwhile bannerlord mods
I got a sneaking suspicion that its due to
1) Mods are now made by large teams that are busy sniffing their own farts instead of actually producing content
2) When somebody produces actual content its usually 3d models, ultra detailed vanity projects to stuff their own artstation portfolios
Back in warband you had 1 dedicated autist that would crank out a mod cobbled together from stolen assets and donated stuff, and it was fun.
Now there is a committee, a "dev team" and fricking stream of dev blogs for any mod.
It's literally just a bunch of maps and armour models at this point
Honestly mods nowadays are just glorified portfolios for designers to show off to devs
Bannerlord modders are imitating the development cycle of Bannerlord itself.
Can't do much when every "update" not only breaks the mods but also the fricking game itself, and they churn those out every week
Kingdoms of Arda is in never ever territory until proven otherwise.
does anyone here still partake in napoelonic wars line battles?
Its barely alive
With the way things are looking, Shokuho seems to be the only one with a chance of getting released right now (but still in never ever territory until they post a release date). The Warhammer mod looked great but I haven't heard anything about it in awhile. The rest are just armor assets and maybe a custom world map.
I wish Blood & Gold was good.
I used too, I no longer care
Anons, what do you think about that?
I think you're fishing for clicks, or false-flagging as the OP of that thread fishing for clicks.
frick off
holy shit I never believed /mbg/ would fall, after more than a fricking decade of never ever
frick do i feel old
I still remember when I made that paint ms warband tactic picture.
It was a different time, man
Lets go back to /vg/, this place sucks.
Unless/until something big happens, we're probably going to lack the population necessary to keep the thread alive of its own volition. I'd rather stay here, where the thread can rest without dying.
Lets agree to necro when 1.3 drops
IF its actually worthwhile fricking turkshits
Sure, I'd be cool with that.
ok troony
I agree we should go back.
Go back to the gacha game generalR
>139 Posters
We can take it back. I vow to shitpost all night if somebody else does the OP
Let's wait for a bit more, exams are finally over and I'm pretty much an engineer finally, so I can just BARDICHE to maintain the thread, still weird that fricking /palg/ outlived us, maybe it has to do with /pal/ trying to take their name
>Play Dplomacy.4.litdum
>NordBlack folk won't stop sieging my city even though I keep beating them because they IMMEDIATLY get good troops in mere seconds
This shit is why i put the campaign ai to poor
How do I get into bannerlord... I find it too grindy and slow.
warbanders, sub to my man warbandplays
Which one of AWOIAF, ACoK or the Bannerlord’s Realm of Thrones is best at this point for a GoT mod?
>Become emperor of Southern Empire in Bannerlord after the empress died
>Conspiracy quest commenced after I got the 13th Imperial city
>War with Vlandia, Aserai and Khuzait who are all fricking massive
Do I have to beat them into submission until they accept peace terms or do I have to wipe them all out.
Is it true that Erdogan basically killed TaleWorlds?
when they ruined the character creator to make everyone look turkish Erdogan forgave them
Nah, he basically saved them
By dumping value of Turkish Lira he basically made Taleword profits skyrocket since they get money from sales in dollars and pay salaries and operating costs in Lira
kind of if we can trust birds chirping
I read that some leads were forced to leave after the failed coup. Was that it?
I don't trust birds chirping
Every morning I wake up to mechanical beeps and whirls, only for them to slowly sound more "natural" as I regain consciousness
The birds are just covering for something else
ok troony
this is that game that's like Battle Brothers except way better except somehow worse innit
Do you guys who play Dickplomacy play with formation AI on or off? Also are the economy changes worth using?
some say the native ai is better but idk. the economy changes make the game harder. i think it makes dye workshops not as good.
>i think it makes dye workshops not as good.
Does that actually make the game more fun or just tedious?
you just need to check which enterprise give the best profit
sometimes its the cheap one and you can get them fast
what if Jeremus had a full head of hair but got the bald patch from getting bonked on the head all the time
haha. i wondered what happened to this on /vg/. i boycotted this muslim shit along with others since october. this shit died out b***hes. aserai gays stay mad. ill see you all in another half a year or so to laugh again. lmao.
ok troony
Is it true that Armagan basically killed TaleWorlds?
How do you stop the game from lagging like crazy in larger battles?
>scrambling trying to save Battania in the midst of getting spitroasted by overpowered V and W
>find Seonon holding a tournament, probably in denial of the multiple doomstacks freely roaming their territories
>prize is my first Early Retirement
kekked
What mods are you playing with?
I hope TW get their shit together at some point
Recently got back into Warband and I just wanna know if there are any sneaky tactics to make a city rebel or steal a city from an ally. I was lined up to receive Velucha as my first major city, lots of lords and even King Harlaus supported me however the idiot still managed to gift it to another lord. I'm so pissed off right now.
Also how do I get lords to follow me, they all keep saying it "wouldn't be proper". Is it based on renown?
everyone has their own personality, so some are more eager to follow than others
OMFG NOW WE CAPTURE JELKALA AND KING BUTTER GIVES IT TO THE SAME FRICKING GUY AFTER SAYING HE THOUGHT I SHOULD GET IT! I AM SO FRICKING MAD!
outrenowned
best of luck next time m8
talk to the other lords, the king just got outvoted.
>join kingdom
>start attacking their enemies
>catch lone lords and beat them
>release them every time (muh honor)
>keep raiding every village I can and tanking their prosperity after 2-3 times
>eventually the lords of those villages start respawning with an army of 80 peasants
>marshall besieges a city
>enemy lords show up to defend
>only a few city-holding lords have real soldiers, everyone else brings peasants
kino
sick bastard
Is it just me or is getting used to Bannerlord's combat harder than getting used to Warbands?
Your threads will die here for the same reason. There's nothing to talk about.
newbie to Bannerlord here, spoiler me on
>Birth & Aging options
How fast do the years go by?
Do i have time to really get down to it or is the old age knocking on me way too soon?
All NPC's age up too and apparently get replaced by random ones? Do they turn into generic npc 1-2-3 or is it actually decent?
How's the kids? Are they just lines of txt or a child-npc in your castle you can have simple dialogue with but nothing else, only as a failsave incase you get rekt?
Should i just play without it on for the first time?
Also how much of my stats will the kids get?
>not too fast, i did a ffull-map conquer (though i go myself appointed ruler of vlandia after we made some inroads so that sped things up a few years) and still killed time for a bit until i keeled over
>NPCs get replaced by random ones, but it follows logic--relatives take over, and they do have generated personalities
>kids arent ingame beyond text until they come of age, then they're full clan NPCs like any others. their stats are determined by several milestones as they come of age you can weigh in on
>play with it on, it adds a lot of charm to a growing, changing world

will the turks ever make bannerlord good?
will mods ever fix it?
>will the turks ever make bannerlord good?
We just don't know.
>will mods ever fix it?
Probably, after Taleworlds stops fricking with the engine and breaking the bigger mods.
>after Taleworlds stops fricking with the engine and breaking the bigger mods.
I somehow found M&B off google in 2007 when it was on version 0.808, it was primitive and crude. What really got me into it was the mods. At that time, a new alpha version would come out every few weeks or couple of months, and all the mods would break. Taleworlds would put up the source code with each update and the modders would port their mods over, sometimes within a couple of days.
Whereas BL modders seem averse to the re-work of porting, so they don't commit to making a mod at all. I get that a mod for a 2020 game has a lot more to work terms of scripts and assets compared to a 00s game which is primitive in comparison. But Taleworlds doesn't update BL very often at all, like once every 6 months at best. And it's not like modders have to re-make the entire thing from scratch, it's simply a matter of adapting the code to the new BL build and recompiling the mod. Again, this certainly takes time and effort, but it's not like the updates completely undo all or even half of their work.
One thing I feel is being lost is modder contributions to the game itself. M&B alpha modders actually helped create M&B (which later turned into the Warband everyone knows). Two examples - the guy that made the Hegemony mod found a memory issue that caused the game to take like 3+ minutes to fully load on startup, which everyone just accepted. He rewrote the code to make it load in 30 seconds, which the devs implemented into subsequent releases. The other one I remember is the modders for "Battle for Sicily" created the entire mechanic for besieging cities, which Taleworlds adapted. Before then, taking over cities was not part of the game. This completely changed how the game played, created a core mechanic, and finally let the player take over the map. I'm sure there were others, which makes me feel like there's much being lost by modders not committing, despite expected losses from updates.
That's a fair criticism, but this is the modern era of gaming. Bethesda, a triple-A developer, just released a game that's been in development for nearly a fricking decade on the expectation that modders would take over and fix/fill out the game. I'm hesitant to claim Taleworlds is doing the same thing with Bannerlord but it wouldn't surprise me if they were. I'm glad that devs are embracing mods, but at the same time I can't blame modders in the current year for deciding that they don't want to do unpaid labor to finish up someone else's product, especially when they keep having to redo the work because the game is still in development.
Also, I agree on devs bringing modder's ideas and work into the game itself (with proper attribution, if not necessarily compensation), but that's kind of a double-edged sword (again, look at what Bethesda did with the modders they hired to work on Starfield).
>Bethesda, a triple-A developer, just released a game that's been in development for nearly a fricking decade on the expectation that modders would take over and fix/fill out the game
I actually thought about Bethesda as an opposite example.
1. Modders have had to fix the SAME bugs in all their games, every single time, ever since Oblivion. Bethesda has refused to implement these fixes, requiring new mods to fix them every time. Whereas Taleworlds implemented modders' fixes into their game (with consent and due accolades).
2. Your other example is another good one - Bethesda attempted to monetize mods in a crude fashion, paying modders some pittance for the license to sell their mods while trying to shut down regular unpaid modding spaces. Compare this to Taleworlds's approach where they gave existing mod teams a budget to develop expansions for the game (Fire & Sword, Napoleonic Wars, and Viking Conquests). Very different takes on the same concept of monetizing modders' work.
> I can't blame modders in the current year for deciding that they don't want to do unpaid labor to finish up someone else's product
Of course, I don't blame them either, just complaining really. It feels like the mutual good faith and cooperation that was there in M&B's early days is simply not there anymore. Not sure why that is or how much of that is TW's fault. But back then modders were actually happy to contribute to the game for free, or take contracts to develop expansions. Without this dynamic, Warband could have turned out to be a different game all together.
>Taleworlds's approach where they gave existing mod teams a budget to develop expansions for the game (Fire & Sword, Napoleonic Wars, and Viking Conquests)
wait, taleworlds gave them money to work on the DLCs and didn't just pay them from the DLCs profits?
i kneel, gramps!
>I somehow found M&B off google in 2007
what did you write?
Don't know, back then google gave you obscure yet credible results.
Of course, TL subcontracted the work to mod teams who worked on similarly themed mods. For example, Napoleonic Wars was made by the Mount & Musket team, and Viking Conquests by the Brytenwalda team. Before these expansions came along and replaced them, both mods were prolific. But the expansions were not simply the mods being sold by Taleworlds, they were very different. Even though they shared the same setting/theme and were made by the same core team, these were different products.
I googled around and found that With Fire & Sword was actually contracted to some studio in Russia to simply make the expansion, so it's not related to this and was a straight forward contract job.
With that mod that turned the game into an MMO, Beanerlord was pretty crazy for about a month and a half before it fizzled out and they put in pay2win
> mostly based ppl playing
> throngs of naked men jumping over each other in the arena
> everyone stuck with the same few dogshit weapons
> defy the jannies by shitposting in general chat
I grinded my way up to a decent army and a massive 2h axe, used it one time splitting a poor player in half after I tricked him to catch him, and then logged off forever
How do you usually build Klethi? Throwing sucks.
Holy shit combat AI is FAR harder in Bannerlord than in Warband, especially in 1v1s
>Get captured in Bannerlord
>TFW I pay my ransom to break free, and the same buttholes who caught me essentialy catch up to me and fricking chain capture me
great game
So this is where you guys went? Nice to see you all again! I looked everywhere on /vg/ but couldn't find the general
Aight fellas, my on-road laptop is kinda meh but i wanna play mountain blade, i swear there used to be low-res texture packs back in the days atleast when they upped the textures via Warband but quick search finds de nada.
Just dropping the texture detail to 0% or even 50% just makes it look bad, really damn bad like i know the game's not pretty but oh come on! Gimme some proper low-res textures or atleat a program that i can run on the texture folder to downscale them.
Which granted i could probably easily find through simple searching... i know i used to downscale Skyrim and sims 3 textures when my gayming pc was not up to par+shitton of mods.
Buy a new laptop then.
>hurr durr get of my vidya-tier reply
Oh right i forgot this was four chinz derp or should i say oh my god im a huge buttercum-guzzling Swadian homosexual!
Warband is from 2010, get some decent hardware.
I got custom built gayming-pc at home for those powergayming needs for that, i just want to rev up some warband while visiting me mum on occasion.
My laptop's Lenovo from 2018, honestly the game runs fine but im slightly worried about overheating, i get anxious when the laptop starts to feel
>a little too warm
below my left hand, nothing too serious but still... can't help it if i makes me nervous i'l break this piece of used junk i still paid 400€ for.
I just want to be safe you know
Look at your actual hardware temps (use Open Hardware Monitor) while playing to see how hot your GPU (and CPU) actually get. I bet it gets nowhere near hot enough to be of concern. And I really doubt changing textures is gonna have much of an impact. Textures are loaded into your GPU memory, once they're loaded they don't strain your GPU anymore.
If you're still worried, use a rack or other elevated platform if you aren't already. Give it more clearance below to let the heat dissipate.
Following on, there are cooling stands that you can get if you're still concerned. Thermal control/airflow in laptop is and will always be utter fricking dogshit, so your choices are to live with it or get an external solution.
I remember my mid tier 2011 laptop ran Warband on normal settings with no issue. Is yours even older?
jewgle is bad but i still found this with it.

Is Warhammer mod still the only actual complete overhaul that is released and playable?
>overhaul
does PoP count? It's the most 'complete' thing around
There are some less major overhauls like the one that turns the setting to Warband
One of the Game of Throne's mods is playable
i kind of want to play again but there's just nothing added
i've done a CK2 run and now i'm itching for actual battles and POV plotting and love making.
bannerlord good WHEN?!
>POV plotting and love making.
what could have been.
I've been playing litdum and each country's territory has barely changed after a whole year ingame. Just a castle or two have briefly switched hands, but none of the lords are attempting to siege towns. Is that a feature of the mod? Usually dhirim or something gets fricked by now.
>beloved game well known for plentiful overhaul mods
>release sequel
>very few overhaul mods
It keeps happening. Is it just the difficulty in developing assets for modern games? Is it something to do with how they're developing the game?
modders then
>1, maybe 2 autists completely obsessed with perfecting their creation
modders now
>model showcasing to any and all that'll hear, TOTALLY not hoping for a big company to pick them up and put them to work for a nice paycheck
the turks kept breaking the game frequently with updates until modders burned out.
now that the turks don't update the game frequently anymore (they still break mods with updates though), there are no modders around anymore...
>bannerlord underwhelming
>CK3 underwhelming
>total war went to shit ages ago
>crapcom working towards fricking mods over so DD2 and future MH titles will be shite
what is there to play anymore?
I'm playing modded Rome II while waiting for Broken Arrow
CK3 is really fun with mods.
I hope the Realms in Exile devs keep on working.
The problem is that bannerlord is shit. Influence is shit, Clan tiers are shit, money is only difficult to get at the start, diplomacy is shit, smithing was not necessary but it's broken.
The core aspects that build bannerlord are bad. No mod can fix that.
What's the most money you've had in a playthrough?
several millions. and that was after buying out many clans to join my kingdom.
the trick is to have several towns deep in your territory and garrison enough to avoid low security.
and to fight battles constantly.
you also need caravans and workshops of course.
12 million with a daily income of 18k. this was after conquering all of calradia and instituiting the 5% tax policy (which is where a good 16k of that income came from). it wouldve been like 36k but i had all my fiefs maxed out in garrisons and a full roster of maxed parties as well. makes me wish we could have an optional dark knights-esque toggle for fully conquered saves, where this stupid OP force comes out and actually starts -razing- fiefs they conquer if you dont stop them. it wouldve been a good challenge
>join Swadia
>get a village on the border with the Nords
>know it’s gonna get raided constantly so don’t bother with it
>get asked if I want to appoint a chamberlain
>say no
>after playing all weekend I finally get a city
>can’t appoint a chamberlain now since I declined
“””Great””” game. Currently learning poetry in a desperate bid to get the only lady I talked to, to marry me so she can appoint a new chamberlain
Are there any mods that make combat animations more snappy and fast, or that make missiles faster? The wide swings and long recoveies really take me out of the game.
Also, any mods that remove the "one quest per quest type" bullshit?
>The wide swings and long recoveies really take me out of the game.
It signals hard so you know which direction to block
just use a fast weapon?
you can edit the values of smithing pieces.
i *think* you should be able to edit the values of all weapons as well.
i can't remember if it's text editing or through dnspy though.
I'm more interested in better animations. as it stands, no matter your skill level, the melee combat looks unnatural.
it's to make reading enemy attacks clearer.
real life sword handling is sometimes done with wrist flicks. good seeing shit.
have you seen floris animation rework for warband?
especially the staves ones?
persistent troops identities for bannerlord WHEN?!
What?
NEWCUTIE!
sorry, bwo. i seem to have lost the cool image.
https://www.moddb.com/mods/persistent-troop-identities/downloads
>bannerlord
now it's my turn to say
>What?
with fire and sword chads... will we ever rise again?
As surely as Poland has been able to consistently rise from the grave, so too will WFASchads stay willin
I unironically play more vanilla WFAS than any other module-- 856 hours on Vanilla WFAS itself and still going
It was in 2019 or 2020, I managed to play WFS on a multiplayer server for 2-3 hours with 7-10 other players
Nevermore
>fire up Gekokujo
>put JA SEAZER's Jashumon on loop on youtube
>zone out for ten hours while continuously throwing waves of mass conscripted, 10 training level instant spearmen from 100 loyalty villages into castle assault meatgrinders
yep, its gaming time
Are there any plans for Gekokujo in Bannerlord?
Yeah there is an equivalent mod in production
I don't know if I'll play it though; since I will be unable to 100 loyalty+level10 trainer my way into instant armies anymore
it's literally posted at the top of the thread.
Forgot about it. That was 440 posts ago, but thanks anyway.
what would be her favorite vanilla faction?
Whats the best faction to use for a world conquest in original warband?
>original warband
you mean the original mount and blade?
mount & blade: warband is a standalone DLC.
the best faction in warband would be rh*dogs sharpshooters then cheesing sieges by parking your sharpshooters at the foot of the ladder to snipe enemies until they run out of arrows. retreat then rinse and repeat.
i've never played the original mount and blade.
>tfw you cant get RBM and Ancient Rome mod to work.
at least the Yurop map is nice ;___;
I happened upon this while modding:
>Eagle Rising needs RBM's Combat and Tournament modules to be disabled
is kingdoms of arda out yet
is the wood elf patch for the warhammer fantasy mod out yet
Do you guys rotate between companions or stick with the same crew the whole campaign?
Sweet fricking hell I regret doing the main quest in Bannerlord
Bros... I can't beat the empire in the bannerlord story
I can
Good for you, but I think its too much of a slog to even bother
It is cool, yet also bizarre, that a game as simple as Warband managed to capture the essence and flow of medieval warfare better than any other simulation out there, even dedicated ones like CK2/3. Campaigns rellying on contests of popularity, lords just going to do their own thing after a while, the army disbanding after capturing a castle or two, the raids, capturing enemy nobles... All of it is very precise to the time period, and mostly absent from other medieval games for some reason.
This. I wish Total War wood more like M&B WB. Especially the capturing of enemy lords.
I cannot find half of my Mount & Blade pics. Someone post the "You have encountered me" one.
You are a hero to me.
>some sort of systems update wiped out literally ALL of my Warband and warband mode saves
>last time I backed them up was three years ago
My Shogunship over Japan... my second Calradian empire... my complete Conquest of Viking Conquest... Parabellum saves... they're all gone...
fuuuuck, RIP
Windows?
If so, your files might still be available under a "windows.old" folder in C: or a different user folder in C:Users.
Thanks, I'll try and look there
Don't forget to show hidden files and check the complete file path of any current saves, you might need to go digging in AppData or something to find the saves.
so in vanilla you can cheaply buy tribesman throwing daggers for smelting into materials, but does anyone know of an equivalent with Open Source Armory?
Is there anyway to make your clan party member in Bannerlord focus on a specific troop type (Like one party having mainly infantry, whilst the other cavalry and so on)?
What's something you hope they add to Bannerlord eventually?
Modding tools
The truth is that the big overhaul mods will never come out and require too much work to make, modding as a whole has changed over the past few decades. In 2024 anyone with even the slightest bit of talent is either creating their own indie game or snatched up by the 1000-strong AAA dev teams, leaving only the lone hobbyist schizos who just don't have the manpower or ability to make a large amount of quality content for bannerlord. Getting dozens of (sane) people to collaborate for hundreds of hours for free just isn't feasible nowadays.
Screencap'd for when an overhaul releases
not that anon but bannerlord released in 2020 and the year currently is 2024, how many total conversion mods are out there right now?
Warband 4 years after release how many did it have?
(you) go and do the homework.
Does anyone have a video comparing the best armour in warband to the best armour in Bannerlord?
Youtube search is just utterly horrendous, and gives me nothing but unrelated results
>Youtube search is just utterly horrendous
it's a private video, bro.
here is a bonus
Thank you
Aight homies (don't worry i got the N-word pass) what mods should i throw in the game?
I was ready to just throw Diplomacy and call it a day just like in muh Warband times but seeing as the modding scene is now different i just gotta ask, any _ESSENTIAL_ QoL mods other than Diplo i should use?
Spent quite a while on unmodded vanilla already, is okay but shit if it doesn't feel barebones compared to even Warband with just Diplo in it.
Well i threw some shit, realistic battles and whatnot and oh wef
>mfw got knocked out of my horse by fricking Radagos raiders
Floris Evolved the best mod for Warband
Aand now my game just keeps crashing probably due to realistic battles... frick it i'm out this is giving me serious Oblivion&Skyrim flashbacks, see you homosexuals next year maybe the game and mods are more foolproof by then... probably not
>play bannerkangz
>religion mechanic
>download the cultures mod and the gorrillion armor mods that are capped with a download speed
>cool, new cultures and expanded map
>completely breaks troop trees with shitters and militias
>frickhueg lag
Am I doing something wrong or are the modders moronic? Also why did the bannerkangz modders restrict campaign mode?
The lag comes from the much larger quantity of moving parties on the campaign map.
Any mod that adds more parties, including Clans with new lords tolead them is gonna have a huge impact on performance.
I think it's once of the reasons why TW left the campaign map as desolate as it appears to be compared to Warband,
I see. It's only that cultures expanded mod that has a severe impact. Bannerkangz doesn't do it too much. Also what's the logic behind simplifying the troop trees?
>reflects realistic levies and shieet
I'm playing the game to have fun, not get bored by the little to no variability in troops. Which stupid idiot thought it was a good idea?
>Pendor with diplomacy features+improved AI/economy
>Viking conquest with improved aggressive AI that can actually use naval warfare instead of the usual Denmark invades and English town and loses it a day later after the lords were afking for 4 ingame months
hello
Banner Kings looks cool but what exactly is it
incomplete and buggy
I had a run where I had over 350 million denars, because I had conquered everything except the aserai and they decided to pay their entire national income in tribute resulting in daily income for everyone in my faction of over 1 million denars
any mod/way to downscale the numbers in bannerlord?
i want the biggest battles to be 500 vs 500.
i really feel the huge numbers hurt the experience.
also, make a new thread. dying on /vst/ would be embarrassing.
are we finally done for
is this the end of mountain blade
>
>
>
I guess linked generals are verbotten, just like on Ganker
someone needs to make a thread without linking
Is Bannerlord finished yet?
Tiny studio
Please show understanding
I recently decided to replay Viking Conquest with the mod "shieldwall song" which is a visual overhaul to armor + the balance mod. Genuinely the most fun I have had with the M&B series in a hot minute, even BTFOing Bannerlord with mods.
Why the frick did TW decide to just....throw away all the cool shit modders added in, as well as staple features of Warband. I got immersed in Warband for like 14 hours and forgot to eat anything all day, meanwhile I usually can't play anything but for a few hours at a time.
