There's definitely some overlap when it comes to fans of Japanese action games and action RPGs. I don't know what Ronin being an exclusive has to do with anything. I plan on playing DD2 day one and Ronin afterwards but I think Capcom has the upper hand here and Ronin's launch sales may take a slight hit. As long as the game is good though, it shouldn't hurt lifetime sales.

Normalgays are sheep that will buy an exclusive simply because it's an exclusive and it's open world which is their favorite genre. It looks like the marketing is trying to make Ronin look like Ghost of Tsushima, which normalgays love, so I think it probably trick a lot of them into purchasing it because exclusive+open world apparently brings in sales for bad games like Horizon.
I do think that many hardcore gamers will opt for DD2 at release instead though unless they really loved Nioh 2. There's a decent amount of overlap between the Niohgays and DDgays, both games appeal to MMO autists.

You would probably enjoy MMOs then, seeing how Nioh has the same level of loot grind autism as Diablo/PSO and how DD is legitimately an offline MMO. If you enjoyed GBF Relink or Xenoblade Chronicles, those are similar in that they heavily appeal to MMOgays.

You guys should really look up DD's sales history. Just seeing that it sold 7 mil doesn't tell the whole story, it didn't come out and instantly sell 7 mil, it did that gradually over 10+ years. By 2015 it had only sold ~2 million units, counting both original and DA together, for example. It reached 7 mil because it was ported to like 4 different platforms and also CONSTANTLY goes on sale for $5. DD enjoyers have also double dipped a lot, I know at least I bought it on PS3, Switch and PC.
Normalgays didn't give a shit about Final Fantasy 6 either.
I have extremely mixed expectations for this game because i like team ninja combat but i hated the lack of interconnectedness in the world. This will hopefully be a lot better, however im also going to be ignoring this for a while in favour of dragons dogma 2.

DD1 was successful enough to receive a DLC, an MMORPG sequel and multiple re-releases on other platforms - and it managed to stay relevant for almost twelve years at this point.
Though it wasn't successful enough on release, and slowly went from a hidden gem to a cult classic.

Neither game is going to sell well. $70 for a game is absurd. The only edge Capcom has is DD2 is multiplat; Rise of Ronin is a snoy exclusive, and last I checked lots of people have been selling their PS5s lately.
