To be fair, that was just in Eorzea, and the lore said it was more of a rural thing while in the cities it was fairly common. I think FFXIV is going to out-last WoW because the music alone is just so fricking good in this game. The cherry on top is going to be the graphics update next expansion. Games just too high quality.

Majority of them are generic hymns following the same themes. Some of the vanilla zones like Elwynn Forest are good and nostalgic. Currently no other game in existence can beat FFXIV's OST.

WoW follows a more ambient approach to music, where it only adds to the background based on the land itself. There's some pieces that are good and inspire nostalgia, but most of the time you probably won't notice it.
It's especially true with raids where there's literally nothing of note that stands out compared to stuff like FINDIIIING HOOOOPE, COME RIDE HEROES RIDE, WAYWARD DAUGHTER, and such.
Is there any actual chance they'll give us a good plot hook for the next expansion or is 6.5 just going to be yet another nothingburger like the rest of 6.x
6.4 teased that Urianger and Thancred have been contacted by a mysterious "client" looking for Archons. Krile also received a letter she was staring at, without opening. And Erenville showed up in a voice acted cutscene, instead of one that's text only. And he spoke of a homecoming. Those are the only clues we have for 7.0 so far. Well that, and Golbez and Zeromus wanting to open up the reflections, which is something Y'shtola wants to investigate too.
How did I even miss those clues??
I think Erenville might be something left for later. They did that with Yugiri talking about Doma in ARR, the WoD talking about their world in HW and Maxima talking about the Garlean civil war in SB.
Who do we think the mystery client is? Where might they be from? And why do they need Archons? Any ideas or clues?
The only theory I've heard that somewhat convinces me is that the mysterious client is really just trying to gather the Scions and since they're keeping up the narrative of having disbanded the only way to do so discreetly is to gather archons and just hope enough show up that you can just tell them to bring the rest. But that's still just speculation.

Either there's an actual serious problem and someone needs learned researchers to look into it, or it's a thinly veiled excuse to gather up the Scions since they are the only Archons who really get around and adventure.

The wierd part about this is that even Thancred got the invitation. Thancred's not gonna be any help in some research, he's not an archon because of how much he can work a lab or a library. Unless it's an expedition that requires soldiers/scouts, the second case seems more likely.
It's more downplayed with his character but Thancred is just as scholarly as the other scions he just has multiple character traits unlike the rest.

More like nonexistent, he hasn't so much as opened a book in the entire game. I don't doubt he's educated and knows a lot of stuff the average inhabitant of Hydaelyn wouldn't, but he's not scholarly and he's not dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge. Being an archon is more about expertise than scholarship.
