My parents sold my Pokémon card collection at a tag sale when I left and joined the military. This included a 1st Edition Charzard. Think they got 15 bucks for all of it which included almost complete sets of the first few expansions.

I feel for you bro. While my parents didn’t sell my card collection, I actually decided to give my collection away when I was like 13 to my little cousin because I wanted to be a “good cousin”. Still pains me to this day, mostly because my cousin probably doesn’t even know where those cards are, and it was an entire collection of the base set, jungle set, and a few others.
It’s part of the reason I just never got back into collecting Pokémon cards, even though I really want to.

Yeah so devastated. I left it with my parents for 20 years to rot in the attic how could they not know it was my beloved childhood toy?
I worked at a video game store that did trade-ins for classic games in like 2011 and one time this nice old lady came in with a box full of snes games. Included in the collection was Super Mario RPG, Chrono Trigger, Earthbound, and many others.
My manager and I were just stunned by the rarity of the collection and after processing it we set aside the rare ones and started to ask questions about where they came from and why she was trying to get cash for them. She told us they were her sons and he passed away and he always said it was actually valuable, but she took it to gamestop and they wouldnt even take them because the games were too old. We told her that the games were in fact worth quite a bit of money, but the re-sale guide our owner followed had the buy-back price set to around $10-20 for each of the rare ones. The whole collection buy back price was less than $200.
My manager tried to convince her to sell them on ebay and she said she couldnt be bothered to do that. She insisted we take the whole collection because she just wanted to be rid of them. I felt so awful but i wasn't even the manager so all I could do was show her an ebay listing for earthbound that was actively bidding around $150 and she still said she just wanted to be rid of it.

Only a few of those games are actually worth something. Rogue Squadron 2, Luigi's Mansion, and those three Spider-Man games definitely make it a worthwhile purchase though. Ultimate Spider-Man alone is worth like $50-$100.
