>proprietary Steam software with DRM
that is trying to copy windows environment to run games btw
My Windows operating system is free
i also use proprietary graphics drivers, proprietary music streaming software and a proprietary DAW on my free and open source operating system. what of it?
Ganker is a Fujiwara board.
Ganker is a miyuki board!
Nah. That's /y/
ok, ishigami is Ganker
This I will agree with
He's so cute
Miko Lino sexo.
It's Iino idiots.
Nothing wrong with having the choice to use proprietary software on your GNU+Linux installation.
Too many people who make Linux their hobby handwave how annoying it is to get things running and fix any issues. You might enjoy googling fixes and tinkering on the terminal for hours but anyone who doesn't finds it extremely tedious. I'm sure it is easy to people who find it fun and get invested enough that learning is enjoyable, but for everyone else that just wants to game, browse, and shit post, Linux is a chore.
>forced to use the proprietary Steam software
A blatant lie, Lutris or Bottles are more convenient to use than Steam for managing Wine games.
Yeah I sure fricking hate clicking a game and if it doesn't just werk I change the Proton version.
I'm sure you love to write a long ass string -with -multiple -argument %command% instead of setting a checkbox in the UI.
I have never once had to do that with Proton.
>I never used mangohud or gamescope
cool, but the rest of us do
if you care that much, just use WINE for everything. steam’s proton is just a wine fork i believe
The reason games suck on Linux is very simple, programming for Linux sucks ass. Now this might be confusing since every code monkey claims Linux is better for writing code but it boils down to the fact that there really is no such thing as "Linux" and the people programming on Linux are never programming for Linux but rather for their one distro. Every single distro goes full moron and breaks something for no reason and refuses to fix it, so when you code something made to run on "Linux" it breaks on dozens of different distros at once because to make something work on distro A you inevitably break distro B. So your options are either making a version of your game for every single distro out there or just release it completely broken.
Linux cannot be good for the normal user until it is good for developers and developing for Linux is so bad it makes people praise the Win32 API.
Why not just release it for SteamOS and tell the rest to go frick themselves the one or two sales you'd get from other linuxtards does not sound like it'll be worth the effort.
Why do linuxgays wants normalgay acceptance so much?
If they want it all they need to do is make things just werk but they can't because they don't actually care about ease of use. If it's not braindead simple normalgays won't waste their time on it and when it comes to an OS that's correct.
>Play Valve game on PC
>Valve 'We want every game to run on Linux'
>Can't join game due to VAC moronation
>No possible option around this using Linux
>Works on Windows shittop
This is what THEY don't want you to know.
Which game?
L4D2 on custom servers
Pretty sure all source games are fricked up rn on Linux. I can't play TF2 on my desktop because it says I'm not in "secure mode" booted via Proton while the native Linux version just doesn't boot. I also tried playing Ricochet with a friend and we had to join a non-VAC server for the same reason.
LLVM16 a shit. Install gperftools and add LD_PRELOAD=/usr/lib32/libtcmalloc.so to your launch options.
got it to work by adding %COMMAND% at the end of that launch option, thanks anon
the same way i use mostly open-source software on win10
I appreciate linuxgays using that horrid software, bugtesting, providing feedback, developing so that one day when Microsoft finally goes too far there is a plan B, or maybe they won't go too far because there is an alterative (an extremely shitty one) but still, until then tho God no lmao.
I dont even use steam on windows, try again OP.
I just figured it out,
Now that anime is shit so is Ganker.
The fanbase of weebness either got lower standards or moved on.
I'm guessing you're posting your face and name on Ganker because you can't have perfect privacy, right? I have no idea what you're b***hing about but you sound like the kind of moron that goes for an all or nothing approach in life and gets such in the same place instead of being pragmatic and making small changes where you can
Linux is so fricking moronic holy shit, you need a 10 hour lecture to get it to connect to a shared folder from windows
not on a vm
Why the frick would someone purposely use linux in a vm inside of Windows?
server virtualization
Pretty much. After using Linux on desktop for a while I've realized that the permissions paranoia is one of the main things that hampers its usefulness. Android wouldn't even exist if Google had adopted the hysteria that desktop distros try to force on you. Yes, I want to run the file I just downloaded as an executable. No, I don't need several safeguards before I run the thing. I don't like having to change permissions on files and folders and add software to groups in order for it to actually run. It's one thing when I'm setting up a server, but it's just an exercise in frustration on a desktop.
>Right click to open properties
>Set as executable
Really hard
>Use Windows
>Double click on file
>It just werks
Wow
>get a virus because windows runs everything as admin like a moron
>don't get a virus because I don't run shady shit to begin with
If you get a virus in 2023 you might be a troglodyte
Except when it doesn't work and you then need to run as administrator
>bro just google for the 20 line command and then spend another 3 hours trying to figure out why the 3 day old guide you just read is already outdated and not working
Nah, I'll just use Windows.
You should. If you can't bother learning how to use a new operating system, you shouldn't use a new operating system. Not sure why that took you a while to learn.
I thought Linux was easy? Now you're telling me it's hard? I think the problem is that normal people use technology to get things done, while incels who have nothing better to do use it to hold over peoples heads because they actually have time to sit around in their mother's basement using needlessly complex hobbyist software.
Learning Klingon isn't hard, it's just that nobody wants to waste time on a useless language.
>Learning? That must mean you're saying it's hard!
>Learning Klingon isn't hard,
Make up your mind.
Anyway, I think anon's point is that nobody cares if you use Windows. Literally do what you want. Nobody gains anything from you using an OS you don't like.
>nobody cares that you use Windows
>linux incels come out of the woodwork to mock people who use software that actually works
lol
nice backtrack after getting BTFO by windows chads
I don't care what you thought, everything has a learning curve
>I thought Linux was easy?
You thought wrong. Stick with Windows/MacOS.
Thanks, I will. Linux is only useful for servers. At least Android is actually useful as a UI environment, it only took a multi billion dollar conglomerate to untangle the mess that is Linux to do it LMAO
Well now you know. If you want walled garden OS, you go with Windows/Mac, if you like privacy or to customize and tinker, you use Linux.
>"chmod +x file" is 20 lines of commands
>changing permissions to run a file that failed to launch from the GUI
>open terminal
>cd to directory
>type out a few lines just to change the permission
>type out command to run it
>still throws out an error because you don't have software x to run package y
Nah, I'll just stick to Windows.
You don't need the terminal to navigate to a directory or even to change file permissions. As much as not being able to use the terminal is a skill issue, thinking you need to use the terminal just because other people find it convenient is also a skill issue.
>I'll just stick to Windows.
Please do. Nobody wants people with your mentality switching to Linux. It would be like wanting people who hate reading to join a book club.
>Nobody wants people switching to Linux
I think this sums it up. Linux on desktop has never been able to even come close to being as useful as Windows after all of these years. It's either developer incompetence or intentional.
It's intentionally bad.
I never bothered with Linux for this very reason: I want to use my computer, not spend my entire time doing troubleshooting.
minimal version of windows 11 when?
isn't that what Tiny11 is?
kek
I look like that and I say that
>Falseflagging linooks enjoyer
I like the idea of Linux, not because I don't like DRM or proprietary software, but because the OS itself is very open. I can do whatever I want with it
Just returned my SteamDeck mostly cuz you frickers lied to me regarding games working out of the box on it.
Half my library was borked by default
Never trust a Linux shill. Their entire goal is to trick idiots into using shitty software. They're trolls.
>windows chads
>A book club? lol!! Reading is stupid!!
No it isn't.
>Yeah it is. Movies just show me the story instead of making me think. I'll just stick to movies instead of joining your book club.
Please do.
>Oh now you suddenly don't want me to join your book club? But you said reading isn't stupid! See? You were literally begging me to join your book club! Now you're admitting that reading is stupid?? LOL, BTFO
The lows of Linux are much lower than Windows. I am talking debugging or trying to get rice you cooked to work, for hours.
But the highs are also much higher. We are talking endless customization. Jesus Christ, Wintoddlers have no idea what they are missing out by explorer windows not being tab based, splitable, etc.
The explorer paradigm is literally stuck in 2001 Windows XP.
I think they finally got tabs on w11
They still don't have icon customization and proper theming.
>in the ending she becomes her university bicycle
I'll never be not mad for that
I like linux over windows, why?
Microsoft sucks ass, that's why.
