Gen 1 still holds up as an RPG, even its remake, specifically cuz it doesn’t do the damn Sun/Moon nonsense of stopping you from doing ANY exploring and jerking you around every two minutes for a 2 minute cutscene of “spam A to get through dialogue”. It was before Masuda became a boomer. If you expose teens to this as their first Pokémon game, then yeah, they’ll like it and play the game. Glad to see kids still like good games, and are willing to experiment with teams for that matter; love this team.
