I was actually pretty impressed by Keldeo's. That method was the kinda shit you'd hear kids talking about on the playground.

These were done poorly and were boring as frick. Stuff like getting the Azure Flute from beating PLA and triggering the event for Arceus in BDSP was fun and the bonus story in ORAS with Deoxys was fun.
I hope in future remakes they do more of the ORAS thing with a cool little side story that leads to a fun fight to capture the pokemon.
They should all be available in game and also have an area and location based on them , a quest even, while the moronic npc that says "u played let's go eevee take these 3 arceuses" was absolutely moronic and also completely destroys immedesimation

will only be available from Mystery Gift code (most likely available only this weekend) and even if said code had no expire date, one day Switch's online services will go down

Fixing a mistake is good.
Even locking them behind save files(which suck compared to Deoxys or Keldeo's) is better than old events.
You remember that Victini encounter that was scrapped? Well good news they are giving a code for it during Worlds

Allegedly the full event is still in the game, there's just no way to trigger it.
So it's weird the code is just going to be another free mythical handed out by a deliveryman in the pokemon center.

Nothing wrong with this as long as it unlocks a short sidequest or area like in PLA and doesn't just hand you the pokemon like a shitty mystery gift event.
I used to hate being handed a legendary but as long as I can get it without events i dont give a shit anymore. Throwing 100 ultra/dusk balls at legendaries is not fun and has never been fun.
Good in that helps preserve ways to obtain them years from now. How it's been implemented so far is middling. Best method would be completing a spin-off game's main story or postgame quest (Channel Jirachi, Ranger Manaphy, Ranch Mew, BDSP Arceus) or using a side feature in the postgame (Gen 7 Magearna). Both preserve the means to obtain them (as long as you can get the games) while also having to put in more effort than getting a legendary. Worst is obviously limited time events, especially ones that require one-time use codes. Between the waste of cards from the GameStop distributions to the stupid newsletter that never gets sent to you to even an app made just for that sort of thing, but isn't used at all, why do they keep doing it?
Using amiibo to get them would've been neat if that'd happen, but has its own issues like what happened to the Eon Ticket in Gen 3 or even other amiibos in general.
