Join the Novice Network as well, it's basically a general chat for sprouts (and burger king crowns) and it's always active. Ask in any city you have access to and a mentor will invite you.

my only overarching problem with the system is that its kind of difficult to quickly explain to people if they just want something crafted and have zero idea how it works
you should also be able to send more than the required mats for a work order so that they can just keep trying a recraft without having to resend a new set of materials over and over (say something takes 10 ingots to make you can send the wo with 100 ingots so that they can attempt the craft up to 10 times and if they hit the inspiration proc then they can just send the completed craft back with the leftover mats, or hell give the craftee the option to let the crafter keep any leftover mats as a tip)
the tuning on the inspiration effect nodes was also kinda whack once people realized you didn’t even have to heavily specialize in certain crafts to max rank them

Polish a turd, still a turd. Keeping an eye on Dragonflight's patches over the past two years, I've only seen the same FOMO tactics and balance issues, only with the edges shaved off a bit.
Even if the systems reached a point where they're stomachable, I don't see how the current state of lore and narrative can be salvaged, especially by the current writers.
I fricking wish WoW could be good again. Competition breeds excellence. But I'm looking at DF and now TWW and where even Shadowlands reveal and alpha still got me excited now I can only see me checking it out if there's a period where there's literally nothing else to play.

What other PvE videogames are there in the world where the highest difficulty is so numerically inflated you need sponsored raid teams raiding for days, weeks on end to clear it? And then they nerf that difficulty into the ground after WF clear so normal players can have their turn and clear it.
It simply doesn't exist. When encounters are built around a literal elite, that design always trickles down and impacts the rest of the game.

the whole world first situation would annoy me if I was in one of those guilds because you know the encounters aren’t actually pre-tuned but will be adjusted on the fly, but for literally every other guild in the world you can either choose to push yourself to get a tiny taste of how insanely tight the tuning of the game can be or just prog at your own rate and be assured the bosses will be retuned at a human level by the time you get to them
one of the coolest aspects of wow is how the greatest players in the world can squeeze so much throughput out of their characters, the devs actually giving them the opportunity to show that off is awesome
its not like ffxiv where the difference between a 100 parse and a 70 parse is 400 dps

Only 10% of it is about skill levels. It's mostly artificial difficulty depending on gear progression, having their own development teams for fricking addons, and theorycrafting to the point of using some engineering consumable from 3 expansions ago that can unexpectedly counter a mechanic.
It's a big clamorous show that doesn't represent what the actual game should be for normal players.

Komoto and Tanaka tried to make a successor to FF XI, ignoring every single development in the MMORPG genre, its demographics and community in a decade, and made it an unoptimized mess to boot.
You have to understand that the optimizations to the game were ongoing, and were largely fixed by the end of the game's lifespan. The issue here is that at that time most MMORPG players at that time were running on integrated graphics. Most people were. It's just that 1.0 was a higher fidelity game than ARR, and even still ARR had higher specifications. We are only now approaching graphical fidelity that was lost.
I must also remind you that it took until the end of Shadowbringers for XIV to break XI's revenue record. A game which many considered to be dead by 2012. When XIV 1.0 launched XI was just barely 8 years old at the time. The equivalency for World of Warcraft is like asking people to quit the game for WoW 2 during the end of Cataclysm.

every FC I've been has been disbanded by some drama either RP/ERP, RL or raiding drama. I was mostly the person who'd greet everyone whenever I logged in and asked peeps if they were interested in doing whatever together. Never got too involved with internal FC matters and I've been in 10 FCs. Unironically I feel better having linkshell with people I kept contact with from those FCs than joining another FC...

Armour looks great, WoW is still using painted while we've got cloth fabric, metals that reflect real time lighting, intricate straps, layered clothing. It's looks great, I can't wait to test it all with the updated plate armours.
Been recently doing BLU quests as I'm interested in seeing if there's any more New World details in the story and spell tooltips. I feel like Carnivale is *almost* really good single player content, since puzzle fights that play around with spell effects is cool on paper, but actually doing them feels like too much of a chore a lot of the time. I don't mind needing to spend time researching the fight and prepping your ability kit, but the menu for doing the latter is incredibly unwieldy (find the spell you want from the book, include it in your list of active spells, no, you gotta remove one of the actives first instead of just swapping in the new one you want, now you can place it your hotbars) and the fights themselves having multiple 'acts' with loading screens between each slows things down as well. Just make the acts separate challenges, nobody cares that you'd need to beat Gogo twice instead of just once to advance the story.
It's a kid's franchise like Pokemon, but too JP centric to make it big elsewhere.
Ghost butler gives the main kid a watch that lets them talk with yokai and do some other shit I don't know. They first befriend a red cat yokai, then collect and fight other yokai.

Yes, it's extremely easy to find people like that. The hard part is putting yourself into uncomfortable situations to make them want to talk to you initially. but then they won't leave you alone after two or three interactions. Just my personal experience from meeting people during Ishgardian Restoration.

Graphics are not why xiv zones are such dogshit. Duskwood was made 20 years ago and it’s more interesting and aesthetic than every single zone in xiv, because it has camps, tunnels, crypts, dangerous unusual mobs, wanders, etc. every zone in xiv is ultimately a plain with mobs pointlessly waiting to be killed.
There is never a cave, a tower, a keep, a crypt, none of these enclosed areas in xiv. Just bored single pulls of a “territorial assmuncher” for 8 zones and call it an xpansion.
With Shadowbringers'/Endwalker's Ascian lore reveals in mind, I wonder how the unsundered three felt about dragons, aliens as they are, and mortals living alongside them. I know someone who keeps track of every Big Fish and it tells our friend circle whenever there's a rare big fish window so we all attempt it together, there's also gathering/crafting stuff together for submarines, working on Firmament achievements (moar gathering and crafting). I think this is all. Can also do maps with small group of people to work towards minion and mount collection.

Do Eureka, get up to level 60 unlock Eureka. In two hours of playing I've seen more chat interaction than 20 hours of dungeons, trials and raids. You will make friends in Eureka I promise you, just don't expect everyone else to make the effort you have to talk as well.

my only overarching problem with the system is that its kind of difficult to quickly explain to people if they just want something crafted and have zero idea how it works
you should also be able to send more than the required mats for a work order so that they can just keep trying a recraft without having to resend a new set of materials over and over (say something takes 10 ingots to make you can send the wo with 100 ingots so that they can attempt the craft up to 10 times and if they hit the inspiration proc then they can just send the completed craft back with the leftover mats, or hell give the craftee the option to let the crafter keep any leftover mats as a tip)
the tuning on the inspiration effect nodes was also kinda whack once people realized you didn’t even have to heavily specialize in certain crafts to max rank them

Because XIV is the final form of the World of Warcraft retail formula. Whereas WoWgays have a schizo game split between multiple eras to cling to. Both are terrible. No other game has done more damage to the genre than WoW. FFXI, EverQuest, and SWG are the pinnacle of design for an MMORPG. XIV 1.0 could have been great along with them, and was largely in a good state by 1.23. But Square wanted success on-par with World of Warcraft, which at the time that XIV launched it was at it's peak of popularity with the start of Cataclysm. So now we have to suffer the hellscape of a genre that has been dead for over ten years where everything is an A to B checklist instance-based lobby game.

The requirements for 1.0 were a lie and the game ran like absolute dogshit. ARR ran amazingly compared to 1.0 even on potato machines
You have to understand that the optimizations to the game were ongoing, and were largely fixed by the end of the game's lifespan. The issue here is that at that time most MMORPG players at that time were running on integrated graphics. Most people were. It's just that 1.0 was a higher fidelity game than ARR, and even still ARR had higher specifications. We are only now approaching graphical fidelity that was lost.
I must also remind you that it took until the end of Shadowbringers for XIV to break XI's revenue record. A game which many considered to be dead by 2012. When XIV 1.0 launched XI was just barely 8 years old at the time. The equivalency for World of Warcraft is like asking people to quit the game for WoW 2 during the end of Cataclysm.

every FC I've been has been disbanded by some drama either RP/ERP, RL or raiding drama. I was mostly the person who'd greet everyone whenever I logged in and asked peeps if they were interested in doing whatever together. Never got too involved with internal FC matters and I've been in 10 FCs. Unironically I feel better having linkshell with people I kept contact with from those FCs than joining another FC...

Been recently doing BLU quests as I'm interested in seeing if there's any more New World details in the story and spell tooltips. I feel like Carnivale is *almost* really good single player content, since puzzle fights that play around with spell effects is cool on paper, but actually doing them feels like too much of a chore a lot of the time. I don't mind needing to spend time researching the fight and prepping your ability kit, but the menu for doing the latter is incredibly unwieldy (find the spell you want from the book, include it in your list of active spells, no, you gotta remove one of the actives first instead of just swapping in the new one you want, now you can place it your hotbars) and the fights themselves having multiple 'acts' with loading screens between each slows things down as well. Just make the acts separate challenges, nobody cares that you'd need to beat Gogo twice instead of just once to advance the story.
How long before Trials, Extremes and ultimates can be done solo with bots?

The hard part is putting yourself into uncomfortable situations to make them want to talk to you initially. but then they won't leave you alone after two or three interactions.
