literally not too big even for little kids' hands. I'm a manlet with girl hands as an adult and I still had no problems with the original Xbox controller even as a tiny tot.
I wish controllers had the black and white button more games could have more controller bindings. The bw buttons were in a fine spot not a replacement for bumpers though.
Brilliant.
I was wondering where those buttons went and obviously the bumpers.
But most games could still use the bw buttons. Just, an extra, rare utility button. For shit like flashlights or reload.
Halo Infinite's d-pad bindings suck ass. It's a pain in the ass. Just let me cycle equipment with the white button.
Dpad is better than anything you can get today. Not as good as a good dpad, but at least when you press left/right you won't input a fricking diagonal.
oled screen is pointless
shoulder buttons are just tacked on instead of any attempt whatsoever to incorporate them ergonomically into the design
non-wireless controller without a hardwired cable
all of the variations were moronicly expensive for no reason other than coming with xbone stickers (I saw the green one marked down to the price of the black one once but didn't jump on it and I regret that)
it does that same shit that xbone controllers do when you try using it on a win7 machine where for no reason it doesn't get detected like half the time
Even though it's basically a 1:1 recreation (aside from the added shoulder buttons) it still has that 3rd part controller build quality feel to it that honestly makes it feel more like a bootleg than anything else
Same, I bought one and it felt great at first but after about a month or so the right stick became so glitchy the camera would constantly scroll to the right without even doing anything. A real shame, the fat grips feel so good in my hands.
Way to expensive for a subpar quality controller
The shape is great, but the plastic is cheap and the internals are even cheaper.
They should really just make one without the dumb LCD and sell it for like $40
Half the buttons are too soft, the other half are too firm
The analog sticks are assymetrically designed for no reason
The D-pad is somehow worse than the PS1's, and actually unusable
The triggers require a full pull to work
Six face buttons was a nice idea, but you need to claw grip the controller to hit the black and white buttons with your index finger even if your hand was big enough to choke a horse
Start and select buttons, and the israeliteels, could get too sticky. Rest of the controller was perfect.
The most controversial feature, the size, was its best feature.
Too bulky. Its not even that its "too big" its that the design makes it feel clunky to hold tricking people in to thinking its too large when really the feel just sucks ass causing you compensate with more grip than other controllers.
>manlet fingers
What sucked was the way the Dreamcast controller jammed your three small fingers with the straight up and down grip
That said, while I love the Duke grip, I will say this >360 controller was good >Frick Xone, but Series controller is Aight >PS4 controller legitimately is perfect >PS5 is crack smoking jackasses fricking up perfect >Dual Shock 1/2/3 was a piece of shit where the sticks would bump into each other >S controller sucked >Madcatz was the superior choice for the original Xbox after Duke's retirement >Gamecube controller was extra in the good way, and you all talked shit on it but who's laughing now those things cost money
My masterrace opinion after this is as follows: >N64 controller was great if you used Turok controls to play Goldeneye (hence, I am turokman2000) >More N64 needed to use the D-Pad. I used it for fighting games, but the D-Pad grip needed more love and it invoked the SNES. N64 needed a virtual console. Obviously, only the Gamecube had a modem, and really only the Dreamcast implemented a legit modem (chu chu rocket anyone?) prior to Halo 2. But N64 SNES cart with d-pad grip would have made me cum >PSone controller sucked ass. The R1 vs R2 was a nightmare. The D-pad was little buttons but technically connected, but under the surface so it was fricked and all. >N64 Stick is superior. See: turok, Perfect Dark (vs. Xbox re-release where you can't frickign aim). However, Mario 64 was over designed around the physically robust stick. Mario Party was cancer designed to break the stick > The Duke's girth, again, was it's best feature. Manlet hands begone.
Size/shape is the same thing.
It's girth
It's fantastic.
Manlet fingers alone hate it.
You can hold it well and good and know there's more controller yet.
Great controller
The israeliteel buttons were designed too much for aesthetics and could have been big clunkity chunkity circles, but otherwise zero flaws. The black and white buttons were out of this world amazing and where the frick did they go?
Halo proved this. Flashlight and grenade type. Exactly the thing this sort of button was born for.
The size of the controller was just right, the sticks clicked pretty well.
Few complaints.
S version sucked >Madcatz was the best version after Duke was retired. They broke down but hail Madcatz design.
six face buttons rocks, they just fricked up with the button layout on the xbox. get a saturn with the real controller, not the fricked up american bastard controller.
It's not still used today. 🙁
too big
literally not too big even for little kids' hands. I'm a manlet with girl hands as an adult and I still had no problems with the original Xbox controller even as a tiny tot.
You know you've fricked up when your controller resting in a display case looks identical to one at a grease covered McDonalds kiosk.
the black & white buttons, horrendous even in the s model
I wish controllers had the black and white button more games could have more controller bindings. The bw buttons were in a fine spot not a replacement for bumpers though.
Brilliant.

SOVL
Dropping it would crack floor tiles
Only works plug in with the USB
what the frick were they thinking with that dpad
other than that controller wasn't as bad as people make it out to be
The d-pad is significantly better than every modern official d-pad.
wtf is that dpad
USB MICRO
other than that perfect
frick USB micro
USB-mini master race
YOU MADE ME DO THIS
FUUUUCK MICROSOFT AND USB MICRO
why'd you cum on your controller?
Haven't had to do that for mine, but my left trigger jams on, not even the actual trigger but the switch inside it.
garbage dpad
Dpad is better than anything you can get today. Not as good as a good dpad, but at least when you press left/right you won't input a fricking diagonal.
? The dpad on Xbox series controllers is pretty fricking chill. I really like the circular one on the elite 2 as well.
I also like the dpad on the PS5 controller just fine. I don’t buy that this og Xbox controller has a better dpad than either of those.
Schizo contrarian post
Doomed the Xbox in Japan.
Terrible button layout
oled screen is pointless

>using an OG duke
Good luck getting XBCD working without constantly shitting itself
that's not the 20th anniversary version with USB-C
The new ones come with the shittiest most unreliable DOA analog sticks I have ever had the displeasure of wasting my money on.
Duke as a design is apex, tho
Same, I bought one and it felt great at first but after about a month or so the right stick became so glitchy the camera would constantly scroll to the right without even doing anything. A real shame, the fat grips feel so good in my hands.
I can't, it's unironically my all time favorite controller
I kneel before the Duke
I prefer the left and right bumpers to 6 face buttons. But I always liked the Duke otherwise.
>6 face buttons
based
>2 triggers
Not based. A flawless controller has both
both of course, being 6 face buttons AND 4 triggers
Way to expensive for a subpar quality controller
The shape is great, but the plastic is cheap and the internals are even cheaper.
They should really just make one without the dumb LCD and sell it for like $40
2 hueg
Too small.
No motion controls.
left trigger hurts my thumb
he said flaw

If you actually read my post, you'd notice I didn't complain about the size for a reason
Too bulky. Its not even that its "too big" its that the design makes it feel clunky to hold tricking people in to thinking its too large when really the feel just sucks ass causing you compensate with more grip than other controllers.

Anon did you not read my post? Size has nothing to do with it, the controller is just poorly shaped.
Size/shape is the same thing.
It's girth
It's fantastic.
Manlet fingers alone hate it.
You can hold it well and good and know there's more controller yet.

what about this monstrosity?
Four face buttons is ideal. Six face buttons will never work, bumpers are better.
Why not both?
six face buttons rocks, they just fricked up with the button layout on the xbox. get a saturn with the real controller, not the fricked up american bastard controller.
Too bulky
>moved the black and white buttons down with the S controller
Made them completely useless. What the frick was MS thinking?
>made
