If you don't know how to build then they're bad. But it's possible reach amazing break point coverage with them plus have a bunch of backup shots at the ready for the rare miss or panic scenario. You shouldn't ever run out of ammo with them unless you can't aim. Also they can snipe unlike the feet.

All of the weapon variations feel different which proves the combat is more than “spam m1.” The game is about combos, enemy prioritization and fast problem solving on top of having good mechanics. Spamming R1 will get you killed even on Champion which is piss easy

The spins are a gimmick for the most part that doesn't really do anything against good players. From there, the next thing someone would probably ask for is a nerf to dragging, which would cause the entire combat system to fall apart. Someone has to think of an entirely new system that is better, trying to tweak the "problems" out of Mordhau's simply will not work.

against armor I just alternate heavy light because its decently fast and the angles are good for getting head hits

I regretted missing out on VT2's hayday so I stupidly bought Darktide at launch thinking SURELY after launching two games they would be good at this shit.
I've learned my lesson, left a negative review, told all my WH40K loving friends to stay away from the game, will never buy another Fatshart game at launch or likely even within the first year or two, and certainly never at full price.
Honestly I'd prefer the developer go out of business and sell their rights to some other studio or let them revert.

I don't know how people git good where they easily handle the super hard difficulties with a bunch of modifiers on, I still struggle with Champion sometimes if the run is rough.
I had trouble finding veteran matches but I'm playing champion now and it's been full lobbies most of the time. My only problem is it seems dwarf is quite popular and I don't have anything else leveled yet.

It was fine. The only serios thing I encountered is broken wave spawn, with them stacking on top of each other, so you have like thousand of rats lagging with like 5000ms delay and dropping your game to 10 fps.
I bought VT1, VT2 and DT on release. VT1 and VT2 were fundamentally good, so I just enjoyed the chaos until it got fixed to be a proper game. DT is fundamentally flawed and can never be fixed, I will not play that game ever again until it gets a complete remake that includes removing the magic doors.
I bought VT2 at launch and I played it exclusively until I 100'd it, I don't remember a single bad thing about it. I returned to it after the game has been given away for free to play with my friends and also had a blast

this game is weird because the devs and 95% of the playerbase are convinced that it is a melee favored game but in reality playing like it's l4d with your gun out all the time is still the optimal way to beat levels.
For a minute there the swift bow on Kerillian with the bleed shit was fricking nuts and it did feel like I could be ranged 95% of a map
they've nerfed ranged over and over but it's still better than melee short of sabotage maps where there isn't a single ammo box. the easiest runs are always the ones where you have 3-4 gunchads just blasting through the level.
i agree, range is powerful but killing all specials with melee and use range just to save run ending frickup is the true endgame, atleast on non range focused careers, with range careers ammo regen is too good and paradigm shifts to not ever pulling out melee.
because the melee combat is more satisfying. jumping into crowds with an axe in each hand screaming about your ancestors is infinitely more fun than doing an old ranger trick and shooting enemies from a smoke cloud with your clockwork revolver.

Vermintide 2's combat is physically painful, like it's not complex or difficult but if you don't macro it you're going to be spamming the same patterns in order to kill / cleave things.

this is my schizo theory but I think the reason they went with customizable characters was because they were being forced to have playable women. when the first trailer dropped and it showed the all stormtrooper team the reaction was pretty positive, but then when they showed the second trailer with the female priest and lesbian looking veteran there was a more negative reaction. I think they knew that it would piss people off if you had to play as some c**t with a buzz cut if you wanted to be a certain class, but had some kind of mandate for female characters, so they just fell back on customization so people could play what they wanted.

For the obvious reasons bounty hunter is powerful but still fairly frail and not as absolutely foolproof a ranged class as say waywatcher and the F will always be satisfying and fun to use
He also enables wider use of Saltzpyres more varied ranged weapons when usually you default to crossbow for witch hunter and zealot because its good at everything you really need your ranged weapon to be
Warrior priest because he has pieces of his kit you can't emulate with any other classes like the get out of jail free card and access to the flail and shield which is braindead but a lot of fun to use
I have grown to like all the classes for all the characters except the elf's because I find them boring or encouraging of homosexual behavior
Doesn't mean I'm not going to play waywatcher when I get the feeling I'm going to need to coddle a lobby or want to prevent a troonymaiden from entering later on if I smell one in the matchmaking pool but I'd generally rather be playing something more fun like coghammer trollhammer ironbreaker

Even outside of full group rezzes, being able to revive someone whilst surrounded by a horde, staggering the horde and getting 25 THP is extremely good.
the problem with the revive is that most people who take it save it until they need to revive someone when popping it earlier could have prevented the down in the first place and if you were doing that you might as well have taken either of the other two versions instead to get more out of using it preventively
I've had way too many matches where the merc never pops the fricking thing more than twice a run to save one safe person because he's got his revive talent and it sits off cooldown for 95% of the match
I'd rather have a WP on res duty because his is even more powerful even if its only one at a time and it gives that one person a lot more security between the invuln, delayed stagger, and free fat heal since you mainly go down from getting shafted by a bunch of shit at once vs getting chipped

One thing I hate about Vermintide 2 is that it has a lot of secondaries (fans who havent played the games)
of which, the vast majority of these are 40k fans
Darktide was announced and these people insisted that the game WILL be good because "Vermintide 2 is good, and its made by the same people!" ignoring how cyberpunk came out despite CDPR making the witcher 3
but because they are secondaries, they had no idea that Vermintide 2 was trash at launch and the devs went on holiday shortly after release so nothing got fixed for ages
...and the exact same thing happened with darktide, and all these secondaries bought the game just because its 40k and then b***hed that it was unfinished
vermintide 2 wasn't nearly as bad on launch as darktide
it was bad yes but darktide was worse
the problem being mainly that Warhammer itself is infested with secondaries because of leddit memeability that has only gotten worse over time
this is particularly bad with 40k for obvious reasons but its leaking into fantasy now that fantasy has started getting some decent games at least relative to the slop most 40k games are

I have to solve the problem of having 1st person melee combat which is good for combat in PVP and PVE.
Both for normal sized enemies , slightly larger sized, and titanic sized enemies.
I'm really going to have to create something innovative here.

vermintide melee looks cool but it still feels like you're waving a noodle across the screen and then enemies it passes over take damage. Especially since the range of your attack is artificially extended so much. The weapon feels disconnected from the game world and more like a HUD item. The only game I've seen with first person melee where the weapon actually feels like it occupies the same same 3D space as everything else is dark and darker
i'm relatively new at the game and was always confused if i'm really getting stabbed in the back by a rat i overlooked or they are really spawning behind me.

While any patrol can be an endrunner depending on the when and where they're aggro'd, the chaos patrol is so exponentially more deadly it's not even funny
And it never made much sense how all these capital W Warriors of Chaos are all just fine patrolling in formation

it's a great game but if you wanted to actually do medieval swordplay something like mordhau would probably float your boat more. or that receny fighting game with all the swordplay styles, can't remember its name. anyway VT2 is better than both but it's not a better "medieval swordplay" game.
