SFIV's Ultra Combos started the Comeback Mechanic trend that every fighting game for the dozen or so years after utilized; Street Fighter 6 having basically no comeback mechanic at all might be the only thing that can calm that trend down. SF4 also has intentional 1-frame links in its combo system with no input buffer and a training mode that didn't really help you time it. Besides mechanics it's also very much "Remember Street Fighter 2?" in its presentation especially in its original release, although they did have a decent amount of Alpha & SF3 by the end there.

Ultima 4 "Quest of the Avatar" is actually about what it says. The quest is to become a paragon of the eight virtues: Honesty, Compassion, Valor, Justice, Sacrifice, Honor, Spirituality, and Humility. The goal being to maintain excellence within those bounds. This is to say 'how you play" including the incidentals of most games that came after and before it are paramount. In obvious ways: Stealing is wrong. Murdering is wrong.
However there are less obvious ways. Valor/Sacrifice/Justice/Compassion all have interplay with the instanced battles. Valor says you shouldn't run from a fight with a villain. Justice and Compassion say If you're fighting wild animals, that are not evil: it's good to either retreat, or if they're mixed in with other enemies let THEM retreat from you. Sacrifice admires the will to lay down your life in battle, but takes a dim view on retreating only if you are totally unharmed. There's also a lot you need to do in non-battle or adventuring to maintain or grow your avatarhood. Paying fair price for goods, donating to charity, not being a braggart, actually engaging in pursuit of enlightenment, and so on that happens mostly in dialog in cities rather than fighting a specific enemy.
As for the mechanics? It is beholden to PC tech of the time. Keys have one bound action and you have to know that, either memorize or print out a keylist or be willing to hunt and peck when trying to use it. The game will switch to first person for dungeon diving. The graphics may look very basic but there's a graphics patch that makes it easier on the eyes. Combat can be very challenging or dismissively easy if you have the right preparations. One warning the magic requires you pre-mix reagents before you can cast the related spells.
The game is free on GOG and includes PDFs of the manuals and map included in the box. I recommend strongly reading looking over each before playing.
ultima 3 came with spellbooks that detailed all spells level 1 through 9, but there was a sticker seal on the level 9 pages and a warning not to mess with that level of the arcane arts.
I remember kids me being real impressed at that, and even feeling a bit nervous about the contents of the high level spells
Feelies are awesome. But the books and particularly the spell books for Ultima are always great.
